We came here on a busy Monday night and thankfully they were able to seat our large party of 8 quickly. I enjoyed a signature LAN noodle with chive flavored noodles. The flavorful broth came out quickly, with plenty of tender meat and an abundance of onions and noodles. They made their noodles in house, and despite not being able to detect a lot of chive flavor in my noodle, you can definitely tell the homemade difference between a store-bought brand. I like the customization they provide, and even with a party of 8 having different cilantro/spiciness/onion preferences, they were able to accommodate our orders quickly and accurately. For less than $20, you can have an incredibly hearty meal. I really enjoyed the different types of noodle dishes they can make as well. Come for an earlier dinner if you want to avoid large crowds! Came to LAN noodle for dinner with a friend, and it was packed at night. We ended up sitting outdoors, since the weather was still okay. It was hard to wave them down though. TLDR: Generally, flavors on point, but dishes dragged down by flavorless, overcooked, dry proteins and very brittle/low elasticity noodles which provide a very unsatisfactory mouthfeel. Golden Fried Rice: 6/10 Tumeric and overall theme of the "golden" part is good. But that chicken drags this dish down 1.5 points. Clearly it was stir fried separately on its own, in separate oil, with 0 seasoning, and mixed back in for the finale. It's so bad I'd just get it vegetarian next time. Like seriously, I would not be surprised if they just had a giant carton of unseasoned, precooked chicken that they scoop with the wok ladle and mix in for the final few wok tosses. That's why it gets so dry and doesn't taste fresh. Oil Spill Noodle (You Po): 5/10 Flavors are good. Noodles clumped together, which can be forgiven for the travel (only 2 miles though). When you walk in you can tell that's it's a no frill place where you can see the chef making the noodle. The servers are attentive but also quick. We ordered the kelp salad and 2 individual bowls of noodle soup. The broth came out decadent and warm, perfect for a cold day, and the kelp salad had a nice vinegar kick to it that my wife really enjoys. This place is amazing! It's definitely my top go to places now. We got the appetizer combo platter (smashed cucumbers, shredded potatoes, and beef tendon). I love that they have that as an option where you can pick three and have a variety as your sides. We tried their signature lan noodle it tasted more clean and brothy. Food quality used to be much better here but now it feels like they're skimping on the quality of ingredients especially when it comes to freshness of vegetables and meat. Only the noodles seem made day of and everything else ie broth meat and veggies seem day old plus. Service is rude as well, tables are not cleaned well and forget the bathroom. If you're looking for better food 1919 Lanzhou has a similar menu, tastes better and way fresher. I was craving beef noodle soup and LAN noodle tamed my craving. I went for a very early dinner around 4:30 and it was empty. I shared the Signature Lan Noodles with the chive leaves noodles (shape is thin and flat) as well as the dry lamb noodles with the wide flat noodles. The food came out within minutes of ordering, and I was pleased with the portions. I honestly thought the dry noodles took the cake over the soup noodles. It had a ton of great spices and flavor, and the wide noodles were fun to eat. As for the soup, I wish the noodles were cooked a little less because I hoped for a more chewy, bouncy texture.
