I almost dont want to write a review, because I'm worried Jarod will book up and I'll have to go back to living with brassy blonde. I have a very precarious relationship with most stylists. I'm very picky and I usually want the impossible--and after three years of going blonde and never being happy with the color (many of my friends constantly told me to go back to brunette--it was that yellow), I finally have natural, cool toned blonde that I can't stop looking at. I trusted Jarod to color my hair for the first time three days before my wedding (I'm a risk taker, what can I say?) and it literally couldn't have looked better. Even those friends who used to constantly hint that I should go back to my roots raved about the color. I live in NYC full time and though I come home often, I'd gladly plan a trip for color with Jarod. I rarely write a review but Zoey at Lacquer Gallery is just that good. I even followed her to Lacquer Gallery from her previous salon. I've gone from an ombre to balayaged blonde to a red head with her, and she always nails it. Plus, my haircuts with her are *always* perfection. I scheduled a pedicure appointment without knowing much at about the place. The scheduling, once I found the actually scheduling site, was simple. I had to call twice to make adjustments to my appointment and every time I called everyone was extremely helpful. When I arrived I was welcomed and offered something to drink and immediately matched with my provider. A feminist oasis- you walk in and there's beautiful, bright colors everywhere and you feel cozy and at home immediately. They have an amazing selection of gel polishes to choose from in their 'book'. Maricela was friendly and did an excellent job shaping my nails and taking care of my cuticles. My initial thought was that they are a little pricier than other places but I am going on 3 weeks and they still look great- definitely worth the small difference! I adore this salon. It's cute, it's trendy, it smells fantastic and they provide great service. I went here for a nail appointment on 10/17, three weeks ago. I received a gel manicure with nail art, and my manicurist was Maricela. She was so careful and precise with her application that my nails looked better than I could ever do. I wasn't sure how long a gel manicure would last on my nails, considering my hands are in gloves and exposed to water five days a week (I work in a bakery.) As of writing this, my manicure has lasted three weeks and a day. I'm sure it would last longer, but I am going to get a fresh mani tomorrow. I do have small chips on two of my nails, and the polish has cracked on my thumb, but considering how rough I am with my hands, this is a miracle to me. I have to warn you this is going to be a long review!! My experience with this place is horrible. After reading all the positive reviews I wanted to try it out so I looked up the website and their services were very cool, wanted to try something new! I read about the Mystery Mani and mystery pedi and I thought why not I gotta treat myself! Now the price was twice the normal rate $65 each. So I called to schedule and Haley was free to see me the day after. I wanted to pay on the phone and the charge was $204.75!!!!!! coz I scheduled an appointment in March and I had an accident that day so they charged me the full fee for no show!! rip off!! i bit my tongue and paid over the phone. I bruised my toe nail 3 months ago and it was starting to fall off, I told haley that I was fine with not doing anything to it and paint the other toes. I honestly didn't know what to do with it and asked for her recommendation so she grabbed super glue and glued the detached part, I was told she will hide it with the nail polish!! DISASTER DO NOT DO THAT EVER! I wish I didn't do anything to it because now it looks very weird.. check out the photos! sticking to sneakers for the summer! She then applied this awesome moisturizing mask on my feet and left it for 2 mins, and then added paraffin which is hot wax that felt amazing! my feet felt very soft now and I was very pleased up until she gave me her phone with some photos for mani's and told me to pick from, I chose a simple classic design with thin white lines and I chose Gel polish. Haley rushes me to the other seating area and asks me the shape I want "Ballerina" so she cuts my nails really fast I got two bleeding cuticles also nails were not the same length a bunch were crocked so I asked her if she can round them instead so they look similar. The gel manicure was thick it looks like acrylics!! it had bubbles in two of my nails! I noticed one and when I told her she added a white line to hide the bubble which was in the base nude color! there's a big gap between my cuticle and polish! the simple artwork that i picked "from her own phone!!" she couldn't do!! It's so ugly! lines are so thick they are taking the whole fingernail! I wish I have asked her for the picture so you can compare the result! Then she asked me how many fingers do I want the art on even though the photo had all fingers with a design but as I saw her struggling I told her just three because she made it look cheap as If my baby sister did it for me! there was a sharp edge "dry gel polish" that i noticed and mentioned to her, to remove it she grabbed her file and filed down that edge and filled a part of my cuticle with it. After all that I didn't get mask nor a paraffin treatment because she said she doesn't have time!! wait, what did I just pay for? I just wasted $204 and ruined my nails!! Very unhappy customer! make sure you see the artist work before you schedule the appointment! Definitely not coming back. read more

My wife got gel extensions on February 10 to celebrate Valentines Day, and 2 days later one of them already fell off, peeling off from the side close to the knuckle. While she was there she told the woman she was concerned about too much air underneath and that they might fall off, but was assured that wouldn't happen. really clean place. took like 2 hours for a regular gel mani which is weird and i was only given select non-name brand gels which is fine. however, they do have opi in the back not sure why it isn't advertised because instead i got 2 thick layers of the non-name brand gels and a coat of an opi color to get to what i desired. and 3 of my nails chipped less than week after. not worth like 70 dollars at all. read more

Had a hair cut appointment with Zoey. It was busy when I came in but was checked in right away and Zoey greeted me seconds later. Absolutely love my hair cut. I had been seeing a local barbershop but was disappointed in my cuts time and time again. Zoey worked with my "cowlick" and tamed it like I didn't think possible. The super sweet red headed receptionist was so nice from greeting me to cashing me out at the end of my service. This place is ADORABLE! I was visiting from out-of-town and desperately needed a gel manicure. When I arrived here, it was even cuter than the pictures suggest! Everyone was super friendly and there were snacks, coffee, and other drinks available while you waited. Maricela did a phenomenal job on my gel manicure - over a week later and it is still in PERFECT condition, not a chip in sight! They have a wonderful selection of colors, too! Just visited Lacquer for the first time, and it lived up to the hype! Erica did my gel manicure, and she did a great job. She was very contentious of getting my nail shape just right, and was very consistent with brushing around my nail too make sure no polish ended up on my skin. She was also wonderful about asking me for any feedback throughout to process, to make sure that the shape and polish was to my liking! The studio itself is very nicely decorated in a warm and welcoming manner. Plus they have a mini fridge full of soda and La Croix which was a nice touch! They also have a nail happy hour from 2pm-4pm Monday-Friday where you can get a $30 Gel manicure (regular price $40). Overall very pleased with my first visit, and I'm excited to check out more of their services! read more

WARNING! DO NO GET A COLOR CORRECTION FROM THIS PLACE! Please read for the horror story below... pictures as the end. Last month I spent 600 dollars here with the desire to get pastel purple hair. After a consultation, and 10 hours of work my hair was shorter, no longer naturally curly, a WORSE color then the one I went in with. I had been drying my hair myself for about a year and used splat hair products once or twice to achieve my already vibrant purple hair. Apparently this is something that makes color corrections difficult. Which I was unaware of prior to my stylist putting bleach in my hair. The stylist never asked me what products I had used to achieve my very unnatural color before telling me that pastel hair was going to be attainable. My hair wasn't lifting like the stylist expected and we decided a darker maybe gray color would be a better option. I was convinced to do a "shadow" root which is something if did not want, but was told it would look great so I trusted her because she was the professional. After the 6 hour process it didn't look that bad but was a tinged a bit green which bothered me. The next day when I washed it my hair turned swampy green! Crying I called the place to get it fixed. They agreed to fix it, for a fee. Which I really like the stylist so I didn't mind. I wanted my hair to be a "smokey purple" with dark roots and light ends. instead I got vibrant SHARPIE blue Ends hair with light greenish gray spots throughout it. When I got home I cried.... again because I felt uglier they I ever had before. I called again and they said that they could dye it back brown for me. I DID NOT WANT BROWN HAIR! My hair was already purple before it got there I didn't want to go back to a more natural color. I called to talk to the manager to see if there was anyone there that specified in color correction and that I would hav ego get my hair dyed brown. There wasn't, instead I received a lengthy email that stated I shouldn't have washed my hair for 48 hours, this was never disclosed to me. Also that my desired hair color was unrealistic. That I could come back and spend another 80 dollars to dye my hair brown. I requested a refund, because the service that was promised was ultimately was not provided. This request was denied... the manger said emailed me somewhere along the lines of imagine working for 9 hours and receiving no pay. Which heavily offended me because 600 dollar is more then a week of work for me. I'm a college student that is completely independent and thought I could let myself splurge on getting my hair done, because I had saved up for a while for it. I've never written a review, but this was more the half a grand that I spent would have better used being set on fire then spending it as lacquer gallery. Due to my hair being left in an absolutely unacceptable condition. Bad customer service.... don't waste your money here. read more

From the moment you arrive, before even stepping inside, you see the pink and orange streamers and you've entered the oasis that is Lacquer. Inside it's so warm and inviting like sunshine on a cloudy day. Everyone is genuinely kind and helpful, even the other customers sitting and waiting for their service; were all just happy to be there! They offer every service on your self care agenda - hair, nails, facials, massages...and that's really an over simplification of the broad array of options. I've done each of the aforementioned services and could not recommend them more highly. No reason given, no compensation. I decided to wait to book again though I still followed this tech on instagram. She cancels almost every week on her clients- "hey! I'm taking tomorrow off actually. Kayla is an absolutely wonderful hair stylist and I can't wait for my next appointment with her. I've been searching high and low in Columbus for a stylist who not only does a good job, but doesn't have a cloud of pretentiousness floating around them. Prior to my haircut, I went to the salon for a consultation. The whole place feels very welcoming and you could spend an hour just gazing at it, with how stylish and eclectic the salon is on the inside. I was immediately greeted by the receptionist and wasn't kept waiting by Kayla. Though the consultation was free, Kayla didn't make me feel like it was a waste of her time and she was very honest and thorough in answering all my questions. She was also upfront of any possible additional charges since my hair is quite thick, something I appreciated. I've been to MANY places that will quote you a certain price during the consult, only to slap you with a much higher price at the end. I paid $45 before tip for my haircut and found the price to be very fair, if not less than what I was expecting. I'll definitely be back! read more
