When I booked an appointment online here a few months ago, my initial reaction was that it was incredibly pricy. I ended up ignoring first instincts and going because I just moved to Columbus (which means I NEED A great nail place), and they had great reviews. This establishment was clean, professional, fun and I was in awe of the talent that these women had. Almost everyone there is able to do design, most of the girls know how to do extensions and all of them know the basics. I reached out to Anna on Instagram before my appointment to see if she'd be able to do an abstract design for me and she absolutely killed it. She had very little time, but I didn't feel rushed at all. Another thing I love: they gave me a 20% off my next visit, as well as a loyalty card for future appointments. Received a good gel manicure from Ayana! Very friendly and did great work. My 2 star rating is based on the fact it was an additional $20 for a dip polish removal. I called before I arrived to make sure they could remove dip, and nothing was mentioned about the additional cost. My only complaint is that the chair were not super comfy and they didn't have the little whirlpool tubs for your feet but everything else was wonderful. I went to Lacquer Gallery's Harrison West location for the first time over a month ago now after calling one day after work to see if they had any appointments for later that day. They fit me in for a few hours later to get a pedicure. Julie was the nail artist that did my pedicure & was super friendly and attentive to the my former ingrown toenails I had and made me feel comfortable during my first experience at Lacquer. I will be checking out the new Clintonville location (since it is closer to my work) today with a different nail artist and look forward to it! read more

Lacquer is now a quarterly part of my life to get a Treat Yo Self manicure or pedicure. They have expanded exponentially with the salon and esthetician services. The whole supportive Girl Gang vibe works for this place. The hustle is real for the workers and owners and I enjoy knowing I'm supportive a locally owned, feminist establishment. Space: The location is easy to find and the outdoor pink fringes are so cute. The space is divided into two parts, one side is the hair salon and the other side is the nails, massage, and facial salon. I love how they have air plants scattered on their window sill and fresh flowers in the waiting area. The ambiance and interior design get an A+! Experience: I got a facial with Kanoa Frei and she is as awesome as her name. I asked for an exfoliation and hydration with extraction. Most extraction I have had in the past was painful but this one was way better. I like how she recommended products for me to use, so I can continue to take care of my skin. It is so important to me when beauty experts make suggestions because it adds to the overall experience and Kanoa did just that. I believe it would be nice to know what products were used during the facial too, so if I loved something I can ask for the same product next time. I finally found a salon that's staffed with great people, awesome interior, and great scented candles. I'm looking forward to future appointments! read more

Had an appointment for a gel manicure yesterday, which I arrived on time to, but I had to wait 20 minutes passed my appointment time to be sat. when i was finally sat, i picked the color i had planned to get, it was already being used by a different tech, and they apparently had no backups, so my options were to wait at LEAST 20 more minutes, or pick a different shade. Had I not originally had to wait 20 minutes to be sat, this might have been doable for me, but i didn't have to time to wait a total of 40 minutes before being serviced. I picked a different shade, and as soon as i got home the outer corners of my nails started to peel and got gooey. My stylist was nice, and the rest of the staff was friendly, but overall it was an incredibly subpar experience. I don't get the ability to treat myself to a nail appointment often, and it's incredibly disappointing that this is what happens when I try to. read more

I cannot believe I haven't left a review here yet; I have only ever received nail services so that is all I can speak on, but they are easily the best in central Columbus. Since moving northwest of downtown I have been searching for a new place but I am always let down in comparison to Lacquer. The girls are amazing; I've had work done by Elizabeth, Melissa and Erica and they have all been fantastic. Seriously, stalk their Instagrams for their portfolios. Not only is everyone kind and professional, but they are very personable and love what they do, and equally as important, who they do it for and with. Seeing artists enjoy where they are makes a world of difference, and you can tell that they are getting that at Lacquer, so kudos to the owner. The salon dances to its own tune with a funky, new age femme aesthetic, that I personally really enjoy. They also feature local artists on their walls which I think is pretty nifty. I used to think their prices were high, but I am learning that is the norm for Columbus (I am used to $20 "deluxe spa" manicures on every street in NY) and worth it. They have a variety of different types of manis/pedis to choose from as well, and if you sign up for their emails you'll see they always have little pop up sales, and discounts for cash and in-house booking. My only complaint, or rather wish, would be for them to offer SNS dip nails because that seems to be the only thing that stays on my hands for 2+ weeks, but c'est la vie. I got a gel manicure done here a week ago and they still look great! I'm not exactly gentle with my nails so I'm impressed. I'd never had my nails done before, so I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I loved it, and I will definitely be getting them done here again. Emily Jane did my nails and she was great. I showed up late, but she still managed to get everything done in my appointment time without it feeling rushed or like I missed any part of it. She was super nice and my nails look great. I booked an appointment to get my wedding nails done and on the day of the person doing my nails called our sick. They reached out and offered a discount, but unfortunately I was in a pinch with timing. It was a bit of a stressful situation because the awesome work they do at LG can't be replicated at other nail salons. I worked with the lacquer team to see if there was anything they could do and one of the nail technicians was willing to stay late. I had always been a nails on the couch during Netflix girl. But then my friend got me hooked on Lacqueur and I can't get enough! There isn't a more chic salon in town. The decor is fresh and exciting and there is always something fun for your eye to land on while you're getting services done there. They just expanded and offer ALL kids of salon services, but I personally have gone for gel mani/gel art mani. If you want a Pinterest-worthy design, you will not be disappointed. I recommend you go in with some ideas though. They can do anything! My manicures last for 3 weeks! I have gone to almost everyone who works there because I often schedule kind of last minute. Loved my pedi, hated my mani. My manicurist was unfriendly, not helpful, and didn't seem to care about keeping my business at all. She did a terrible job on my nails.. didnt get the gel polish all the way to the edges, didn't seal them properly. They looked terrible, and when I was showing them off later everyone commented how poorly done and bad they looked. My pedicurist was a complete 180. She was super friendly, helped me pick a fun color, and she did an awesome job on my toenails. They still look great after 4 weeks! We chatted and I had a great time and felt very relaxed. I've already raved about how amazing the overall experience is in my other review, but I really must reiterate just HOW wonderful everyone at this salon is. First, the location on 3rd Ave. is extremely convenient and in a really cool area. You have to park on the street, but it doesn't seem to be an issue Once inside, the interior has a ton of personality - local art, brick walls, original ceiling. Ah! It's too cute and comfy. You feel like you are hanging out in your really trendy, hip friend's house. The best part is that this friend will paint your nails! Most importantly, the service is incredible. I was on a desperate hunt for a last-minute nail appointment for a wedding when I stumbled upon Lacquer. They squeezed me in at 10am the day after I called and I am SO glad they were able to make it work. The space is really cute. A strange but nice cross between super girly (lots of pink and faux fur throws) and a little punk (a tattooed hand stood in the middle of the sitting area table in a "rock out" gesture). They also had "The Office" playing on a large TV, which was nice for people getting pedicures. Overall, very comfortable and spacious. I had Katie and she was wonderful. I can be extremely awkward during mani/pedis and she made me more at ease. Plus, she did an AMAZING job. Quick and efficient and this regular (not gel) manicure is flawless 6 days later. Manis usually chip after 3 days for me. They had a nice color selection for both regular and gel polishes. I only had a mani/pedi but they also offer face waxing, permanent makeup, eye lash extensions and more. Overall, I highly recommend this place. I will most definitely be back. read more

Here's the deal. I go here ALL the time. I've had my hair cut, colored, and styled and it always looks great. I have found that no matter who you book with they are always pleasant and talented and do such a nice job. Kayla is my favorite though, love her. I've had my nails done by almost everyone as well. Toria and Julie are my favorite. I don't get paint on my hands but I have seen both of them do nail art and it is just that, art. Always professional, amazing, empowering women. If you like supporting women and female ownership, then this is your place. You'll feel instantly at home and will never want to leave. Update: So I noticed that this place didn't have 5 stars because I think it's f*cking awesome and recommend it all the time to everyone. Finally tried this place out, and so glad I did! I was short on time, so all I did was the basic "freshen up" mani. Elizabeth (Lizzy?) was friendly, efficient, and did an awesome job. This place is amazing! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Very clean and good vibes. I've had my nails done there a couple of times (I do my own gel manis all the time but sometimes I just wanna come here for a treat) and never been disappointed the the manis. The only reason I give four stars is because I had a bad experience with getting and eyelash lift and tint with Sophia. My eyelashes turned out great, but Sophia's customer service was the issue. I booked my appt 2.5 weeks in advance and a few days before the appt, she contacted me via text on her personal phone (which I was later informed they are absolutely not allowed to do, any communication with clients is to be done through the receptionists) trying to change the day making up these excuses as to why she needed the day changed. After I said I couldn't change the day, she continued to offer other days (not listening the first time) and then when I said that my date was firm due to other prior engagements, she said she was going to have to cancel my appt. Even after I told her I was getting the service done for vacation. Which was completely unprofessional and I wasn't having it. So I just told her I would call the salon and get it figured out, to which she started backpedaling really fast saying she could do it if I really needed to (um yes, obviously I made an appt, I expect to receive the services). Then texts me again an hour later asking to change the time of the appt, which I obliged only because I was just over it at this point. Fast forward to the appt, which she arrived late for, was very cold towards me, didn't talk the whole time with the exception of telling me the steps of the process as she was doing them, and just overall didn't give me a good vibe. I was never actually going to mention any of this in my review as I thought "maybe she's just not a super friendly and bubbly person like the rest of them"... but then I saw good reviews of her on here and realized she was treating me poorly because she was pissed that she had to come in to see me and actually do her job when her plan to try to reschedule me didn't work. Moral of the story is: In the interest in not being duped, only ever deal with rescheduling through the receptionist. Employees contacting you via their personal number is a big no-no for obvious reasons. read more

The decor inside is so cute, and they have water, pop, Gatorade and candy complimentary for customers. I've been with Katie, Maricela and Sierra and everyone was friendly and did a good job. HUGE fan of Lacquer!!! I have seen Lisa and Julie for manicures and both do great work (have not ever gotten a pedi here). They have the best selection of gel colors of any salon I have ever been to. But what makes them extra special (for me at least) is the nail art! Julie and Lisa (and I'm sure everyone else) are so creative/ artistic/ talented I always leave loving my nails.
