LACQUER - Nail Salons Near Me - Austin, Texas

Wish I could rate 0 stars. My friends and I booked essential pedicures for a birthday, heard really good things about this place so had pretty high expectations. Walked in 10 min after our appointment time (didn't think it would be a big deal?) and they "greeted" us with letting us know our services would be downgraded to only a touch up, no questions asked. Pretty ridiculously awful customer service and not worth any hype. Go somewhere else if you want your money's worth. read more

I don't frequently write reviews but given the price and quality I feel compelled to write something. Unfortunately I forget the name of my technician, who was very nice and personable. However, the quality for a $50+ gel manicure is unacceptable. My nails were not filed straight and the polish is uneven on probably half of my nails. I noticed when I got back to the hotel the night of my appointment, at which point the salon was already closed. I was visiting from out of town and had a flight at 11 AM the next morning - or else I would've gone back to the salon to ask for a fix. Given the lackluster quality, I now had to pay to get my nails redone at a salon back home - after paying over $50 already for the botched job at LACQUER. read more

I love the setting - modern and fresh. My technician took her time to make sure every nail was treated perfectly and was friendly but not too talkative. Nice! I had a gel mani. When I realized one nail had an air bubble, I asked her to redo it and she did. When I left, I realized that the polish isn't smooth on all nails and there are areas that aren't covered. My nails look good from far away but just ok up close. read more

A friend wanted to do a pedicure for her birthday, so I started looking around for nice nail salons until I found out about this gorgeous place in the Austin Monthly magazine (August 2017 issue). LACQUER was voted for Best Mani-Pedi. Of course that got me curious, so I checked out their website and from the pictures, I was impressed with the interior design. Then I booked appointments for us. We showed up 25 minutes before our appointments and we got served wine immediately. My friend's appointment was on time, so she went first. Mine was 15 minutes late, so my service was free. Oriel was amazing - she was very gentle and sweet. The best part was the foot/leg massage. I would definitely want Oriel as my regular nail technician. This place is so clean, gorgeous, and cozy. I would come back again! read more

I'm extremely saddened by my last trip to Lacquer. I do want to make it clear that the technician was extremely friendly and tried her absolute best and I do not think she was the direct problem here. I went to get a gel manicure after having repeated gel mani's from a different salon named Coated. They also do not use drills or harsh chemicals/regimens on your nails. I had my removal done and the tech mentioned my nails were thin because of the removal and I understood but I also thought that after the mani my nails would have a hard top coat and that was the point of getting gel (?) so your natural nail still grows nicely without the tarnish of extensions or possibility of breakage. Normally after a manicure one is extra careful with their nails because they are just so used to sitting still and having someone else focus on their hands but a few hours after the manicure one realizes they can be normal with their hands & everything is set/dry/done whatever it may be. I quickly realized I could not be "normal" with my fingers or even act as if I had nails at all, they gel was immediately peeling off of the natural nail as if the one coat wasn't enough to stay on & again this is the same day as the manicure. The next day I scratched my back & I broke a nail! I called Lacquer though with no panic or rudeness because I knew they would take care of me they have always been great (even though I've never had THIS problem). Lacquer had me email all sorts of pictures and I did, the manager called me back and basically said I can come back & they could fix it & I can still pay for it. They basically said my nails were the problem even though like I said I've been getting gel manis every two weeks at another place that's the same & have NEVER had an issue like this at all whatsoever. I'm so extremely disappointed and I will never ever be back seeing as the manicure was $110 this time & this is the mani I got & the respect I received as well. read more

I made an appointment for myself and two others as part of a spa weekend get together prior to one of our party having a baby. The appointment was at noon on July 18, for three pedicures and two manicures. 1. On July 7, I made an appointment for two manicures and three pedicures, for three people, all coming at the same time (noon). 2. On July 7, Laquer emailed me a confirmation. 3. On July 18 at 10:06am, I received a text message confirming the appointment. 4. On July 18 at 10:53am I missed a call from Lacquer. We were having brunch so I did not answer or even see that I received a call until brunch was over at around 11:45am. Having received an email confirmation a week ago and having just received a text confirmation some minutes before, and knowing that our appointment was in a 15 minutes, I didn't think that I needed to confirm by phone too and didn't worry. 5. We went to Lacquer. The woman working at reception told us that one of appointments for a manicure had been rescheduled for 11am. It was now noon, that appointment time was over, and the only call Lacquer had made was seven minutes before the new time. Confirmation had come via SMS just minutes before that. The receptionist insisted that there was no way that Lacquer sent a confirmation since the appointment was changed the day before. She insisted the Lacquer had called the day before as well. When I showed her my phone, she said that my phone was wrong and insisted that she had called previously. She ignored the fact that I had a confirmation text from the same day too. The receptionist didn't seem to care that there was a problem, and gave the impression of being annoyed that I was annoyed that she changed our appointment despite sending confirmation. She never apologized and treated the last-minute schedule change like it was our fault for somehow not knowing that there was a change despite receiving confirmations that everything was in order earlier that day. She also did not see how changing one manicure for one person out of three an hour before every else's appointment was a problem. 7. The manicure and pedicure was mostly fine, but the pedicurist, while filing a callus, filed the top of my foot and took some of the skin off. The second time it happened I complained and she said it was because my callus was "too soft." I never had any calluses on the top of my foot and I don't see how having a "soft" callus on the bottom of my feet would be a problem for a pedicurist. I t was a noticeable red wound upon leaving (a friend who was with me noticed it immediately despite not really looking at my feet) Two weeks later, it is still healing and I still have a thick scab. To be fair, the manager later sent me a nice email offering a free visit for the mixup. That is why this review is not one star. Someone there cares, even if it isn't my receptionist, scheduler or technician. This doesn't make up for changing an appointment time (to an inconvenient time), not contacting me, lying about it, and then hurting me though. The store promotes Yelp reviews, and offers free cuticle oil to customers who check in form Yelp. Which prompted me to come here as well. read more

My nail flipped off. Yikes. $85 due gel mani an normal pedi. No remove. What an incredible waste of money. I was hopeful that I could find a walking distance option for a decent mani pedi and instead got ROOKED. This place says it's luxurious but really its same old same old masked in white and bright and the promise of comfy chairs. The latter are not built for my5'2" frame. Not comfy. You pay double the price of normal manicure pedicure under the auspices of nicer services. BULL---- This place is over priced pretentious and overall lousy. Don't bother. I don't have another place on town to go. But you can be assured I will NOT waste another $85++ here. get over yourselves Lacquer Your downtown (and now domain) address don't make up for terrible service Get your S together if you plan on continuing to charge these kind of prices. . read more

Easy online booking. Great nail art for an eight year old. Super friendly welcome, comfortable retail location downtown. Artist was very detailed, friendly, and patient. Great art for the holidays that our creative child likes a lot. The place and employees have an easy-going style. Only downside: Parking was $13 on the weekend, and AMLI isn't covered by Lacquer. So $53 (with tip) was pricey but fair for the high-quality experience. But with an unexpected $13 parking charge it became $66 -- leaving a bad taste and docking a star. Park at city hall to avoid. read more

Everyone here is very friendly. The prices are reasonable and they were very accommodating when we had to change our appointment to the next day. The space is beautiful - very clean, posh, without the hoity toitiness some salons have. They have a good selection of nail polish and it felt like more of a spa experience than just any mani/pedi place. Everything was well designed. The quality of the pedicure though spans a wide range. I went with a friend and her pedi was pretty different from mine, but we both paid the same price. Hers was also about 10 minutes longer than mine, which makes a difference considering that you're paying for a relaxing service. My friend got a lot more attention paid to her feet and her pedicure was more thorough than mine for sure. The basic steps were the same, but depending on your pedicurist/manicurist you'll get different treatments. So be vigilant when you get your treatment to make sure you get everything that's supposed to be included. My pedicure was okay, but it certainly wasn't the best. My feet didn't feel as clean and "tidy" as they usually do after a pedi to be honest. We got the classic pedicure for $35. read more

No. They were nice, it was a clean and cute space, but I got the manicure of a 5 year old. I'm certain I could have done a better job with my left hand. For $35, it should be a very well done manicure...it's far from it. I'm embarrassed to have people look too close at my nails. read more

I used to LOVE this salon, but after they've gone waterless, it just doesn't seem to be the same! I know there is some science behind the new method, but the pedicures just aren't the up to same quality anymore. So bummed that we have to search for a new spot. read more

Three weeks after my appointment with Lacquer and my gel nails still look great. Only one minor chip...this is definitely a new record for me. Jessica did my manicure and she was so kind, genuinely nice to talk to and did a great job, clearly. I've also received numerous compliments on them since she helped me pick out a pretty color for my base and a cute glitter for my accent nail. (I was feeling a little adventurous) It's definitely expensive and high end- which did not come as a surprise given the location downtown. But sometimes you just need to treat yo'self and go somewhere where they play nice music, offer you drinks, and is generally filled with pleasant staff. Also, now I know my mani lasts this long, I'm thinking a manicure every three weeks vs. every two probably evens out in the end. I will not lie and say I'm giving up my loud, sort of smelly, cheap nail place that I got to when I just need a quick brow wax and polish change... BUT I will say that Lacquer will definitely be visited once a month from now on, because damn... let me love myself! read more

Just moved to Austin from Dallas & had some friends visit & want to do their nails. This was the first salon I noticed & decided to give it a try. The receptionist at the front was extremely disinterested & snooty. (For a second I thought I was back in Dallas again) I asked if she had room for manicures and a friendly "I'm sorry we are filled today, I would love to help you book an appt. for another day" would've been more appropriate, but instead she did not make ONE second of eye contact with me while she was heavily typing, what seemed like a literature essay, on her computer..and snapped with "Umm, no. We are full." Paying more for a service that is easily found in every location, such as nails, should require a respectable atmosphere & attitude to balance the cost of the service. As a small business owner myself & a new Austin resident I'm truly saddened by this customer service experience & will unfortunately take my support elsewhere where I do not feel like I am an inconvenience to the staff. read more

Showed up on time for my nail appointment but the system showed I was booked at another location. I didn't know there was a second location. And I had called to make the appointment, aka THEY booked the wrong location so they clearly screwed up. The catch: they're slapping me with a 50% cancellation fee? Cancellations are for NO SHOWS. I am now I'm out 50 bucks for there error and insane policy?!? I get it if I didn't show or I booked it wrong but this is ridiculous. read more

I had an excellent pedicure service by Ashley. What sets nail salons apart for me is the attention to detail. Ashley was very meticulous, going over the edges and creating beautiful lines. Everything at the salon is high end from the application, appliances, chairs, and choice of polish. They have Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford, Smith + Cult, along with regular brands like OPI and Essie. I was very impressed by the selection and if I lived in town I would make this my one stop shop for everything nail-related. read more

Love my nails. Can't wait to go back! Logan made it such a calming and enjoyable process.

Booking a last minute appointment here was a cake walk. And the gent who answered the phone was a gem. The gal who did my manicure on the other hand was, meh. She wasn't the warmest or most talkative one in the bunch. It was relatively quiet in there but very clean and if it's decor was an actual human, her name would be Regina George. $25 mani and if you check in you'll snag a free sample size of some nail/cuticle treatment. Too pricey IMO... especially for lack of personality as a whole. Honestly, not likely a place I'd return. But hey, may be exactly what you're looking for! read more

I got wind that I passed a really difficult exam mid-morning, so I decided to treat myself to a pedi at lunch. I called LACQUER and they said they had an available spot if I came in immediately...so I did, and then I waited 25 mins there. First of all, this nail salon is beautiful, and they have spent a lot of money building it out to look like a boutique. Exposed ceilings, Coco Chanel quotes on canvas, offering you infused water or wine, plenty of magazines. It is a cute place and very fitting with the posh warehouse district vibe; gold black and white classy decor..but personally I am a little tired of the overdone "keep your standards high and your heels higher" quotes. I grabbed a magazine and prepared for relaxation...my pedicurist was a little too talkative and I felt like I had to continue the conversation so I didn't get to read my magazine. I didn't necessarily want to spend an hour making small talk with a lady (albeit she was very sweet) but it is what it is. The pedicure was nice but not worth it, $40 later and I had a chipped nail the next day. They have a wonderful selection of polishes and I may give them another chance if I need a downtown fix...but only if I really NEED to. read more

I booked my appointment for a shellac manicure while on a road trip, the lady at the front desk was nice and she scheduled me for the next morning. I was inspired by the very nice and clean location but frankly my manicure was not up to par. I'm very familiar with CND products, as I get my nails done once a month so I was really disappointed when the polish started to chip only a few days later, this place is not cheap and since I know the products are good I was expecting it to last up to 3 weeks as usual. I had to remove the polish only a week and a half later cause it was starting to peel off and would get stuck to my hair every time I touched them. Overall my experience was not worth the price and would not recommend it. read more

Got my gel manicure Monday evening and it chipped by Friday morning. Really bummed as this is one of the more expensive nail salons in town, so I was expecting more. At least my pedicure is still unchipped. Update: right after I left this review, I was contacted my management because they have a 7 day guarantee on their gel services. This place has a really great vibe and I loved the view of the hustle and bustle of Guadalupe St through the glass storefront. My technician, Marz, was really nice and took care to make sure she gave me a unique experience based on the condition of my feet and didn't just run through a basic step by step process like I've experienced before. She also educated me on how to upkeep calluses/rough skin without overdoing it and harming collagen growth. I got the deluxe pedicure. I think $45 is a little over priced for what I got but it seems to be on the cheaper side for downtown Austin. They use cleaned, sanitized tools which is a must for me. I definitely felt pampered and enjoyed a glass of Chardonnay, too! When I walked in, the woman at the desk was on the phone and didn't make eye contact with me until she was done, but she was super nice when she was ready to help me. Typically I'm not one to post reviews but felt I should share. I was getting my nails done for a wedding out of town. Went in for a gel manicure on a Wednesday and the wedding was on Saturday. Very clean and updated place, but that's the only real positive. The nail tech. Was attentive and detailed however, one major issue: I told her my nails grow very fast and to please cut my cuticles. As she was cleaning up my nails she was pushing back my cuticles a bit but not cutting them. I asked her again to cut my cuticles and she did not. She explained that I'm probably used to going to 'other places' where they do this and explained all the reasoning why they do not cut cuticles at their salon. I understood her reasoning and agreed, but I knew my nails would grow out extremely fast and there would be a huge gap between the gel and my cuticle. By the wedding, my nails were already noticeably grown out (by other bridesmaids). I'm at 6 days now since I got my nails done and just as I thought, my nails look like they have looked after 1.5-2 weeks when I go to the 'other places'. The worst part is I paid $51 with tax, about double the price when I go elsewhere. I'm taking off the gel myself today as it looks really bad. Again, clean place with cute decor, but be ware, if you are used to having your cuticles cut down and your nails grow fast, you will have a huge gap in your polish right away. read more

Was in Austin just overnight for work and desperately needed a pedicure. This place caught my attention via Yelp because of the cute, simplistic decor and when I saw the prices I was a little skeptical but once I read WHY they're so expensive I was onboard. I will pay more for ethical business practices and businesses that support women. I had a essential pedicure done, they had a good variety of gel colors, and I loved the heating pads on the chairs and foot stool. However I will say I felt a little awkward and uncomfortable in the chairs with the way my feet were being placed but maybe I'm just out of shape and got a little core workout (; Carolyn gave me a great pedicure!! I wish I would have added a manicure, will definitely return if in the area again. read more

Really disappointed about my appointment yesterday. I was getting a French manicure and everything seemed to be going great until I turned down the items the nail tech was trying to upsell me (exfoliant and cuticle oil). As soon as I said no to the products, it was like I was a complete bother. She rushed my manicure and didn't clean up any of the mistakes. My nails look ugly, messy, and they've already started chipping on the ends. I'm pretty embarrassed about them. The front desk girl said I could come back to get them redone within the next 5 days but unfortunately I have no time to come in because of my hectic work schedule! So I'm stuck with disgusting nails that are not worth what I paid! I suggest not turning down the products until you're at the counter unless you don't mind being treated like dirt and have no problem with a bad nail job. read more
