The service was very good. The ambiance feels like a Mexican restaurant and is great. I have eaten here at least twice before and have always had a good experience. Our friend had been visiting this restaurant for 20 years, including at a prior location. The comfortable seating is both indoors and outdoors on a little fenced patio. Stopped in for a Father's Day dinner and it the spot! We were quoted a 20 minute wait but were sat in under 5 minutes. We were seated outside in the patio, which is covered with fans so it did not feel hot. We ordered the spinach queso dip and it was the perfect shareable. I couldn't get an ouch of the crispy fried flour tortillas. For my main i opted for the chicken fajitas and it was amazing. The portion sizes were perfect for the price point. Decided to try La Piñata for lunch as soon as I saw green chile on their menu. The restaurant was pretty busy, but we were seated right away. As soon as we sat down, chips and salsa were brought to our table. The chips were fresh, and the salsa was not spicy but had great flavor. They have lunch menu specials. I ordered the green chile burrito. The burrito was big and can easily be shared. It was delicious and I was not disappointed with my choice. My boyfriend ordered the red chili burrito, and he also enjoyed his food. Our server was great and checked on us often. I really enjoyed this place! I came here with my family and we agreed we definitely would come back. We started with a cheese crispy that was extra crispy and very cheese the perfect combination. I got a spicy margarita which I really enjoyed and then the taco salad was the best I've had in awhile I appreciated the fresh ingredients and that it wasn't greasy. Tim the manager was so rude. My 4 year old niece busted her finger on the door that has old rusted metal (will be making sure her tetanus is up to date) surrounding it cause it to bleed when approaching the manger to make an incident report his first response was we are a small business we don't do that. Don't even offer a bandaid, apologize, nothing. After taking my name down and being very short i wanted to show him the door, his response was I open doors everyday I know what it looks like. No customer service at all. Later in the dinner my sister left the restaurant where she heard him talking about or situation to other employees saying this was our own fault and to be better. I will be contacting the owner. For coming in with a large party celebrating a graduation and spending over $400 Food was mediocre, manager was rude and bathrooms were dirty. DO NOT COME HERE! Outstanding and authentic Mexican fare in central Phoenix! My daughter and her family just moved into the area and we tried it with a larger group and our one year old granddaughter and it couldn't have been a better experience. Warm Chips and salsa upon arrival, creamy and delicious guacamole to start and a super tasty cheese crisp with whole green chili's on top. We had a combo plate with a cheese enchilada, bean tostada and a beef taco and it was very traditional and utterly delicious. We shall return! read more

It was my first time here and I was definitely not disappointed. We actually came on taco Tuesday where they have a special of $2.50 tacos and everyone was getting them. Our service was great, and the restaurant just feels very comfortable. I had my usual cheese enchilada and it was amazing. Generous amount of steak and cheese on the plate, the charbroiled steak was cooked masterfully tender and juicy, yet cooked just enough with a nice marinade on the meat . Cheese was a nice compliment but not my favorite part, the steak was definitely the star of the show. The chips were a great supporting cast as it was evident they were home made with a very crunchy yet sturdy mouthfeel, had a moderate saltiness to them. I specifically asked for extra spicy salsa as well and it did not disappointed with a bit of a smoky and habanero taste. I didn't know they moved. My parents used to take me there when I was a child in the 70's and I took my children there in the 90's. When my daughter told me they just move i was so happy. Drove past this place for years finally to dine in and realized I've missed out all this time. I am highly impressed with this authentic Mexican restaurant. On a busy Friday night only had to wait 10-15 mins for a table. The moment we sat down we had chips and salsa. Let's say they kept them coming. Drinks were refilled before we even got close to the last sip and food was fresh. All staff from hostess, waitress and cleanup crew were extremely nice. I did not see them miss a beat at any table. Our food did take longer then normal which the server admitted and apologized but we gave them the benefit of the doubt due to being Friday. My food and my guest dinner was amazing. I had the beef fajitas and she had the chicken enchiladas. Very flavorful and fresh. We were too stuffed for dessert but will be back for some Sopapillas. I come to La Piñata about twice a year as I live in San Diego and travel for my son's baseball tournaments or to visit family. If I lived in Phoenix it would be my regular spot!
