Very poor service. This was a favorite of family for years. I haven't been in a while so I can't comment on the food now however I was really disappointed in their service and request for reservations. I had a party of 12 and the called restaurant to inquire about reservations. After speaking to the rude manager who was really quite too "busy" to speak to me I'm glad we didn't come here. I was told that rests I was booked on a Thursday night and they could not accommodate my request. Oddly the same day I made the call my Sister called and was told they did have room for our party, hmmmm... My Sister spoke to the same manager and maybe she had time to check on her request. Who knows. The good thing is we found another place that was awesome and my event was a success. read more

La Pinata - An amazing dinner with a wonderful ambiance and restaurant! - Mexican Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Food was great. Had lunch menu which was quite a bit. I had burrito, just too much red sauce put on top, like just a little. But it was great. Clean inside & comfortable read more

My favorite chimichanga at a sit-down restaurant. Many years ago I used to hit up La Pinata about once a week in its old location. It's one of the best casual Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. I recently got to sneak in before the lunch rush at their new location. It used to be Mary Coyle ice cream *sad face*. The chimichanga is big. It's lightly crisped all around in deep fried goodness. The beef has an option of either machaca (really just shredded beef, no eggs in it) or ground beef. I prefer the machaca - tons of seasoned shredded meat that has never been dry or burned. Lots of red sauce but not quite drowned in it and a bit of cheese, lettuce, chopped tomato. The lunch special I had comes with rice, which was fluffy and good, and beans, which were very creamy topped with a bit of 2 different cheeses. I've tried their tacos (good), tamales (average), enchiladas (good), "There's a taco in my burro!" burro (interesting but okay), albondigas soup (very good), chicken tortilla soup (okay, was always salty), Pinata Chimi (very good), machadilla (great), fajitas (average)...almost half their menu but at their old location. I'll have to come back with an update and try some of these again. Their complementary chips are above average. The salsa is very chunky and tasty. The hot sauce is really good - hot in heat and lots of chili flavor. The new interior is all windows towards the street with a front patio that can seat quite a few. Plenty of space between tables and booths. The bar is off to the side with about a dozen seats. They still have a couple of pinatas a the entrance but not nearly as many as before. It's nice. Parking could be an issue - they have about 20 spaces and when I left around noon, not a single spot was open. read more

From the outside you would never know what an amazing place this is! The moment you walk inside it's like a hidden oasis! The decor and vibe is wonderful! And not to mention that the food is large portions and extremely tasty! Our waitress Jessie was so sweet and & helpful, as well as the lady who sat us! We are from California, although if we are ever out this way again we will make sure to come back! read more

Food was great as always,,, however, there was a table of three dogs next to our table. What I mean is four dog owners and three dogs that were not being controlled. The dogs spilled water on the floor from their water bowls. They barked many times and one owner let a large dog sit in the seating area for people. It was not comfortable for me having a large dog that close to me during my whole meal. Felt like I was in a dog pound or dog run at a park... instead of a "clean"'restaurant. read more

Some of the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. The pork carnitas and the shredded beef are astounding. So are the tacos and the enchiladas. We loved every bite! The guacamole is thick and fresh and plentiful along with the house made salsa and black beans. Can't wait to come back! Even though it was busy the service was quick and kind and we had everything within moments. read more

For delicious Mexican food in north Phoenix, try La Piñata. This was our visit here and we were so stunned by the speed in which our food was prepared that we were sure it was meant for another table. The food was hot and fresh and well within our budget. My husband got a beef chimichanga and I got bean and cheese burrito, which we both enjoyed. Chips and salsa arrived immediately; the salsa tastes sweeter than most and is equally flavorful. We will be back! read more

Exceptional! Food is always on point. Been here for my third visit and have never been disappointed. The chimichangas are amazing! The enchiladas are amazing. Even the fish tacos are amazing! Always well maintained and always clean from the outside to the inside. If you love Mexican food and a great dining experience then you HAVE to try this place! During the cooler months, sitting outside is a treat with having patio heaters. Even when it's warm out they have misters to keep you cooler. The lighting creates a unique and warm dining experience. All in all I'll continue to eat at this establishment. You've gotta try it! read more

Best kept secret in Phoenix. Love the service and the food! Beer is served in freezing cold glasses!

So here is the thing... always give someone a second chance... don't know why I never updated this from a year ago I must have been cranky they didn't do takeout. They do now! I've lived in phx my whole life. Hands down some of the best Mexican food around! Try the Yucatán! read more

I was craving a red chili burro tonight. I phoned in my order and asked for the #4 combination plate with a red chili burro. I picked my order up, drove home and started eating only to find a green chili burro. Man, what a disappointment. What a lousy let down! read more

Yum. Try the steak fajitas. They charge for any extras. Our fajitas came out with hardly any peppers and onions at all. I asked if we could have some more, and when the check came I was charged $4 for a side of grilled onions (didn't even have any peppers) So I felt a little ripped off, but I still love the steak fajitas and I also love the rice and beans. I will be back and nextime not order any extras to be safe. read more

With 21 check-ins to date, I best write an update raving about our go to place for fajitas and Mexican pizza half beef half chicken. Yes, it's still great and I think I can say we are regulars. We love the staff and they take care of us like we are family, they are so good to us. This is our regular spot for day dates and weekday happy hours. Best Red Chili anywhere! Great service with cold beer! Parking can be a challenge some nights

Coming through town and stumbled upon this place. About a 15 minute wait, but it was well worth it. Their piña margarita was excellent. I had the Machaca dinner, my husband got a carnitas burrito, and my son, the Mexican Short Stack. We were all very happy with our meals and the service. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Very nice, clean venue. Good music, not too loud. Excellent service. The food is good, but not outstanding.

Went there on Mothers Day, the chicken fajitas were great! The portion size was big enough to split between two but we did not know that so we we took the leftovers home; a nice bonus! The chicken tamale my daughter ordered was huge too and very good. My other daughter ordered the taco plate with rice and beans, it looked fabulous. I did not taste it but she said it was great. We ordered the fried ice cream for desert and it was great too! The waitress was very pleasant and she made sure our drinks were always full, asked if we wanted additional salsa without us having to ask for it. We will go back!!!! read more

This place is awesome!! Fresh homemade food at its best. The manager and staff are super friendly and helpful

Me and my girlfriend love this place and have made it a tradition to either go there and eat or take out for dinner on Sundays. Usually, we get excellent service, but today we had a server that either was having a very bad day or was just not very good at his job. He wasn't very attentive and my girlfriend had to shout at him for a box as he was walking away with our check, which he walked by at least five times prior. Up until now we have had nothing but a great experience at this restaurant so I will stick to a five star review. Also we highly recommend the tio panchos pollo con queso, and the chorizo con huevos. Such a big portion for both!! read more

The first thing I noticed was how nice of a job they did with the remodel of the interior and patio (from former business). Our family went in at around 9pm on a Saturday. Although they were closing in an hour, they greeted us promptly and welcomingly. Chips and salsa were brought to our table immediately along with waters all around. Anthony G helped us with our selections and checked in on us about every ten minutes. I was blown away by the service he gave. I was amazed at how quickly the food came and how nice and hot it was. Our orders were: Taco Salad (perfect size in a tall deep fried tortilla bowl), Chicken Quesadilla (huge), taquitos (for the little guy), and a relleno, taco, tostada (combo). My Green Chile used for the relleno was actually hot, spicy and something to talk about (they are not always this good). Everyone enjoyed the meal, but the best thing we had was dessert. Sopapillas... so soft, so warm. With powdered sugar and honey. Mmmmmm! We waited too long to try it, But now it will become one of our regular spots! read more

We really appreciated the attention of all the workers who together took really good care of us. The food was terrific with anything you could want. I was the only 1 drinking alcohol and had 2 beers and the bill including tip for 5 people was only $100. We look forward to a return visit. Thanks, C Martin read more

This has been our favorite Mexican food place for 40 years including the old location. Since we moved to Chandler, we rarely get an opportunity, but last night on our way back from a cookie delivery run to family shut ins, we stopped in. We always order the same thing. We love the Green Chili Chimichanga. It comes with Sour Cream and Guacamole ( homemade) in tubs so you can control how much you use. So much deliciousness!!! Great Salsa too!! Great servers, great music, great food! We won't wait so long to return! read more

Really enjoy coming here. I can always expect great food and service. The salsa is amazing. I recommend the Yucatán burrito and the chimichanga. The margaritas are great too! read more

Really, Really, Really good food. Great service, always packed for a reason. Guacamole is Lit, (as the kids say).

Restaurants are begging for people to support them. I call to place an order, the same order my family of 5 places every time we go in there, however they won't sell a kids meal to go, he wants me to spend $11 dollars per kid for a bean burrito with rice, it's way too much food for them. Good Luck to whoever thought turning away business is a good idea. read more
