masks on a wall
Erin H.

My friend and I had a great time and were both pleased with our masks. But, both of us are artsy and don't need a lot of instruction. On the whole, I like this place. But I think the business model is a bit confused and I doubt it will be around long. The space is beautiful. Way too beautiful to be spilling paint, glitter, glue, etc. all over the wood floors. Around the walls there are decorated Venetian masks for inspiration (and for sale), as well as multiple Venetian decanter sets (also for sale). The room is filled with sturdy wooden tables and looks more like a fine dining establishment than a crafting space. This is part of what I mean about the business model confusion. Along with your "class" to paint a mask, you can also order tapas or dinner. But, I'm not sure how one can reasonably eat while creating. Friend and I ordered some bruschetta, but it was tricky eating them with paint on my hands. Apparently the afternoon class was also having a tasting menu. How do you make that work without getting paint in your food? Or maybe I'm just messy. The class was odd. They offer classes at 11, 2, and I think 5 each day. My friend and I were the only people there for the early morning time slot on a Sunday. Unlike a Canvas and Cocktails where you sign up for a class and they walk you through how to create a specific painting, this is more free-form. You can pick whatever blank mask you'd like to paint and then the instructor will give you tips and techniques. This worked for us, but like I said, we're artsy. I really don't know how it would work if the class was full of people who are not as artfully inclined. The instructor also tried to get us to commit to a color scheme before we started painting and started us off with 2-3 colors. Upon looking at their supplies, I understand why. They are using really expensive nice paint at this place. I think it would make more sense to use less expensive, yet still adequate, supplies and allow the customer more freedom and choice of paint. I'm the type of person who figures it out as I go along and the restriction at the beginning was a little disarming. Along with paint, they have paper that you can use/glue on your mask, as well as glitter and feathers. They also have some stencils. Friend and I were talking after, and it would make sense if they had more stencils for common patterns one would want to do on a mask (swirls, flowers, argyle diamonds, etc.). That could help less experienced painters. It would also be nice if they had classes that focused on maybe two or three designs on a particular mask shape. For example - today we're focusing on the cat mask and we'll walk you through how to do either this checkerboard design or this swirly design. It seems like this place is trying to be too much, rather than focusing on one thing and doing that well. I just don't see how it can survive, especially in the Creek (you know rent must be outrageous), but maybe I'll end up being pleasantly surprised. Oh, and if it does survive, I hope they will rethink their wine selection. It is possible to get inexpensive wine that tastes good. Sadly, neither the white nor red options we tried was enjoyable. I'm glad that thanks to an Amazon Local deal we tried this place out (they mentioned they also have Living Social and Groupon deals out there if you're interested). And, I would go again. It's definitely something different.

My final product!

We were planning a Colorado wedding from…read moreGermany, and only had a couple of chances to meet any of our wedding vendors in person, so we were going to be totally depended on our wedding planner to taker care of a lot of things we wouldn't be there to see ourselves. From the first meeting, we knew we were in good hands. Nicole has incredible creativity, a beautiful way of designing for the uniqueness of her couples, great experience, a terrific local network, and is very direct about what to expect throughout the process. She was able to spot that we had been off with our initial estimate on overall costs, then broke everything down with tons of direct talk about where expenses would be generated, where we could save, and where we wouldn't want to save. In the end, her initial estimate was almost exactly what we ended up paying. Once we started working with her, she was brilliant about making a balance between taking the initiative and asking us for guidance. We always had trust in who she connected us with (she works with a network of total pros), and she made the entire process completely transparent, so we could keep an eye on what we needed to do, but also see what we didn't need to worry about. This was the only way that working together from a distance, and only meeting a couple of times in person was possible. Our wedding was on a family member's property, and Nicole was very skilled at pushing through our agreed vision for the wedding, but without ever stepping on any toes - she's a skilled diplomat. Regarding the wedding design, we we bringing together several cultures in the wedding - Hawaiian, Russian, German, and Coloradan. She was able to blend all of these into a seamless whole that totally reflected our identities in ways tasteful, fun, and surprising. All of our guests and families felt this terrific combination of style and identity that Nicole was able to orchestrate. On the day, she was absolutely a dream to work with. Attentive and in control, but without being overbearing, she was on top of every transition and important moment, but never taking the limelight. She's a true professional's professional. Overall, we were so lucky to work with Nicole, and I can highly recommend her to anyone who wants their wedding to be a true representation of who they are as a couple, and at the same time a totally professional production that they can simply celebrate with the people they love without worries. Simply put, Nicole was everything we never even knew that we wanted or needed in a wedding planner.

She completely got my vision and my (very, very particular) art direction for everything from the alter to the table scape and made sure that everything was staged exactly as I wanted. I trusted her to make decisions day-of without me and I was not disappointed! I highly recommend using her -- especially if your wedding is extra creative or colorful. She gets it!

Overall: Fun and unique activity. Would not recommend for large groups of adults - see details…read morebelow. Games chosen for three people: Alien and Ghostbusters. Personally enjoyed the Alien one more as I felt the Ghostbusters one was repetitive in some parts. Experience: Instructions are clear. Good pacing and very engaging. Space: Space is good for two. Was running into each other with three people. I feel like it would be too crowded with 4+ people on certain game activities. It kinda got stuffy in the room after 30 minutes, so it would be nice if there were bigger fans on the ceiling, ventilating the air more. Drinks: Pricey. Basic alcoholic and non alcoholic option. Nothing super exciting. There's a drink holder shelf in the game rooms. Extra note: Cancellation policy is very stringent. We added two friends to our reservation on the day of the reservation and a few hours later, they couldn't make it due to a sudden medical reason. Even though these changes all happened on the day of, they would not make any exception. Only offered the option of rescheduling them in the future by emailing the manager. Keep that in mind when you make a reservation.

The room walks you through all the steps and you put on your hat, which is what controls you through the game. We played for about an hour and it was plenty of time. One of our games required a bunch of squats so I was definitely sore the next day. There are drinks for sale however it's also in a plaza with a bunch of restaurants if you wanted to catch up after. Pricewise I thought it was a little expensive, but it was worth it. Also, I definitely recommend keeping the rooms to max four people.

We found Milkglass through the Woodlands' all inclusive package and could not have been happier with how everything went. We were an unlucky June 2020 couple and Carly helped us reschedule our wedding and contact vendors to navigate the tough times. We finally had our special day in May 2021 and it was perfection. Carly helped us make decisions about flowers and decor, even meeting us at Event Rents multiple times over the long planning process (2 years with the covid delay!). Planning was really fun with Carly and team - you can tell that they genuinely enjoy what they do and they bring their experience and expertise to help. Everything was gorgeous on the day. I was able to truly relax and enjoy my wedding, while Milkglass took care of everything else. Our guests were certainly in a partying mood after the lockdowns and we started to run out of alcohol during dinner. Carly sent someone to buy more so the party could continue. She also packed up anything we left behind and delivered our decorations and my bouquet to my house the next day. If you're on the fence about a wedding planner or coordinator - DO IT!! This was the single thing that made the most difference on how perfect our day was!

We Carly was our day of planner…read moretechnically speaking, but I can't even imagine what it would be like to have her full services, since it truly felt like she helped us every step of the way as is. Our wedding was 135 people in Granby, CO, and Carly helped make it spectacular. Carly is incredibly knowledgable about the industry and Denver-vendors. She never led us astray with her recommendations, and gave us sound advice regarding selection of vendors based in Denver (vs mountain vendors). When we were looking into a caterer she had never worked with, she made the effort to reach out to several wedding planner friends to check in with them and get their opinions. She also kept us organized and on a timeline, and even reviewed all of our vendor contracts which is above and beyond a typical day-of planner. We communicated with her regularly starting from our engagement 1 1/2 years out from the wedding, and she was always quick to respond to emails and happy to answer any of our questions. This is very different from the policies of many of the other day-of planners we looked into, who really wouldn't get involved until 1-3 months out from the wedding. She also didn't have any rules about not responding to emails on Sundays of after-hours, which I've seen friends run into with their planners. Carly did a lot o behind-the-scenes communication with our vendors, often times without me realizing, which spared us from dealing with lots of logistical questions etc. She even sent an email out the week of our wedding, insisting that vendors use her as a primary point person from then until the wedding, so the we wouldn't be dealing with questions during the pre-wedding festivities. On the day of, she (and her assistant Ceecee!) was critical in doing everything from organizing the ceremony, directing people to where they needed to be, doing my bustle when my mother was occupied with something else, and corralled our guests to the appropriate locations as needed. You can tell that she came from New York since she is so organized, direct and efficient, which is exactly what we were looking for in a planner. I would highly recommend Carly and the MGP crew to anyone!
