First review of 2019, and La Parada deserves it! Visited Reno for 2 nights. This place was amazing. Right when you walk in, it feels homey, cozy, and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and you can tell it's family owned in the best way. After pre-scoping the yelp photos, I was 99% sure I wanted the huevos rancheros before I even saw the rest of the menu. After quickly skimming, I knew it was still the right choice, and boy was I right! Huevos rancheros: side of amazingly flavorful refried beans sprinkled with cheese; perfectly moist and not dry. Side of small cut potatoes that were perfectly cooked. The piece de resistance, the main "meat" of the dish was the ground beef enchiladas, topped with eggs your way (I chose over easy), pico, and some amazing homemade sauce that makes me drool just thinking about it. I want to go back now just to get it again. My bf had the a la carte tacos with a side of beans after tasting how good mine were. Didn't taste his dish as I was too preoccupied with mine, but his tacos looked authentic and delicious. Also noted that they have amazing breakfast and lunch special prices Monday through Friday; can't remember the specific times or prices, but less than $10 per plate. This place is REALLY GOOD, the kind of good that you'll remember for a long time, and talk about later. I was visiting Reno and was craving really authentic Mexican food before I went back home. We looked up all the best places that we're close on Yelp and Google and decided to go Carlillo's Cantina based on the overwhelming reviews at such a high mark. We woke up in the morning on Sunday excited to go enjoy a 5 star restaurant, but when we hopped in the car, ready to leave, we Googled the restaurant for directions and it showed CLOSED. We were devastated, as my wife even skipped food the night before, in anticipation of getting some really good eats. SO...still craving really good Mexican food, look to Google again, and found La Parada! La Parada was AMAZING! I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito AND a two enchilada plate, and both dishes were great, but the burrito definitely topped it all. It had a perfectly crisp homemade tortilla, and everything tasted just right. My wife said it was the best Menudo she had since being a child having her Grandmother's...and she's had a lot of Menudo since then! Normally I LOVE this place but, right now, with mom and pop small businesses not doing to well. You would think that when this servers mom is back there working her butt off cooking, you would treat people with a little respect. My mom, sister and I walk in 8/7/21 at 11:15am she greeted us with "Hi how many?" I said "3 of us" she said "did you make a reservation?" I said "oh I'm sorry I didn't know you guys still required that" she came back with "Well obviously you can see that we are busy" with her hands up then slapped down on the podium. It's a busy weekend and we wouldn't have minded a wait. But we walked out after that. I will never recommend or go back again. La Parada staff were welcoming and friendly. They checked in to see how I was doing, and refilled my drink, as needed. Menu items included traditional Mexican fare, and unique items, as well. They serve breakfast--I had a Chile Relleno Omelet...which was super yummy. The horchata was fresh and delicious, and speckled with cinnamon. Heaven. I plan to return for dinner and order the Margarita Tropical--doesn't that sound like a fiesta in a glass? There was plenty of seating. The restaurant was very clean. Prices were reasonable. We came here to eat tacos and the lady didn't bring chips and salsa she said they don't bring chips and salsa for people that just order tacos. But when a white family came in they brought chips and salsa without asking what they were ordering. We have been here before, for a UYE MBC, but never for lunch. They have a good size parking lot in the back with easy access to the restaurant. They have lunch specials, that start at 7.99 and several different combos. The lunch special is served with rice and beans. I ordered the Enchilada and taco. The taco was good, a small street size taco with chicken filling. I added green salsa to it an it gave it the kick I was looking for. The Enchiladas was covered in red Enchilada sauce with chicken filling. It is a tasty meal for cheap. We both had water and the bill came to 16.00 dollars. Definitely will be back. read more

La Parada has amazing breakfast. My wife and I went to Reno for my work conference. We stayed at the Grand Sierra which has restaurants that are overpriced and the food was not good. I found La Parada on the internet and went there twice for breakfast. First visit we both had the Egg Benedicts but had the eggs place over the potatoes and no English muffin. I had the Veggie Benedict and my wife had the Lobster Benedict. Each was delicious and the eggs ran over the potatoes perfectly. The next visit we had the Omelettes. My belly and heart are so full right now!!!! This is hands down the best menudo I've had since my grandpa's! Even though there was no hominy, the flavor was out of this world and the tripe just melted in your mouth. Eating it gave me warm memories of watching my grandpa make it as a kid and being so excited for it to be done and ready to eat. I'll come back to Reno every year for this restaurant. The tacos were amazing and the way the tortillas have a perfect crisp to them, OH MY GAWD. We were looking for a place to have breakfast, so my daughter said lets try La Parade, there was about a 15 minute wait to be seated, which is usually a promising sign, after we were seated and everyone ordered, it took about 15 minutes to receive our order, but the server so polite, and had such positive energy, we hardly noticed the wait, all I can say is, that the food was worth the wait, excellent, well prepared and absolutely delicious, by far one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever eaten at, hands down one of the best, I highly recommend giving La Parade Cafe a try.
