My husband and I decided to venture outside of our South Reno bubble and try El Camarón Pelado, and we're so glad we did! The restaurant is clean, inviting, and beautifully decorated, with a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk in. The staff was friendly and made us feel right at home. The highlight of the meal was, without question, the Coctel de Camarón--hands down the best I've had anywhere in Northern Nevada. We also shared tacos, an enchilada, a chile relleno, and a couple of margaritas, and everything was absolutely delicious. We travel to Mexico frequently, and this is the closest we've found in the Reno/Sparks area to the authentic flavors we enjoy there. You can tell the food is made with care and quality ingredients. The only minor feedback I'd offer is that the food took a little while to arrive, and there was a slight language barrier with our server. That said, she was incredibly kind and honest about her English, and we joked that our Spanish wasn't much better! It certainly didn't take away from the overall experience. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, amazing seafood, and a great atmosphere, El Camarón Pelado is absolutely worth the visit. We'll definitely be back! read more

The menu looked like it was pretty much everything fish. So if youre allergic to seafood, you have to read the menu very carefully. We just ordered quesadillas and of course margaritas... which were all very good. The service, seems to be friendly but they could be a little more diligent about their customers.. we sat there for 20 minutes, and was wondering where our server was.. we literally had to ask for our check. Went for lunch and the place was empty, one other couple. They were sitting with nothing in front of them .... Their food arrived after we ordered and still no beverage. Seated immediately and beverage order taken. Chips and salsa came out. Chips were fried in house and were crunchy. Salsa had a little kick to it. A different waiter came to take our order. Still no drinks. Drinks came the same time food did. Drinks were well made....but not worth the price. Octopus came out first... looked and smelled wonderful. Cooked really well. Tender and juicy. Disappointed with the plain white rice and chopped lettuce as the sides. Marisco tower came out finally. It looked amazing. Tasted fresh and full of flavor. Came with tostadas and crackers. Large portion. Took half home for dinner! Food was well prepared but the service needs work. I do not know how they will be able to handle a busy rush. read more

Went for a quick early dinner date night since my husband was craving mariscos. I had high hopes, but it was a mixed bag. They start you off with chips and salsa, which is always a win. I got the coctel de camaron and honestly--loved it. Super flavorful, fresh, and I'd definitely go back just for that. The ceviche tostada was good... nothing amazing, but it did the job. Now the letdown: the camarones en camisa (bacon-wrapped shrimp). Just... sad. Overcooked, dry, and tasted like they were made ahead of time and reheated. For a $30 plate, that's pretty disappointing. The place itself is nice--spacious, clean, and they mentioned they're newly opened with plans for live music, which could help the vibe later on. Overall, it was just meh. Some hits, some misses. Happy we came here for lunch, such a great new spot! Parking is a bit limited. The place is clean and the service was awesome! We tried the coconut shrimp plate, I do wish they offered this also as an appetizer because all our dishes came with rice and salad already but it came as a meal with 8 crispy shrimp. It was good. My husband got the gobernador shrimp tacos, which consist of shrimp, cheese, onions and peppers. This had a really good tangy flavor. I enjoyed the filet zarandrado. It was delicious! Not overly saucy but just right. The citrusy flavor was really unique and good. It melted on the tongue. I did order a birria taco to try and next time I will be ordering more of these:) read more

Love that Sparks has a new Mexican seafood restaurant! This place is conveniently located on Victorian square, right next to the Nugget Event Center. Visited on a Friday evening and it was a little busy, to be expected. We ordered a shrimp appetizers and I had the tuna tostada. I really liked the spicy flavors of the shrimp but be prepared to get messy! The tuna tostada was good but I think I'll try another item next time. Our server was friendly and attentive. They had a live band the evening we visited which was fun but it does get loud. All the food looked great and I would definitely recommend trying this place! read more

I read there was a new restaurant that opened up on Victorian Ave. in the old Los tres hombres building and it said "they had Taco Tuesday specials three street tacos for $10 and Margaritas for $8". When we got there, we have the taco special, but not the Margaritas which I think they should honor their advertising. The building is very big, I think for their business establishment. The seating has wooden booths with a few tables with chair padding. The staff are friendly and they brought us chips and salas. I loved that they served the green salas with the perfect flavor. The chips were homemade and crispy. My husband ordered the Taco special and he tried each flavored taco with the Al Pastor being his favorite . The chicken and beef a little dry. I ordered the Chicken Burrito. It didn't come with sauce only guacamole and sour cream. The sour cream was liquified. The burrito was big and I took most of it home. Rice & Beans is in the burrito and not served separately. I asked several people about the Tuesday Margarita special, but there wasn't one so we requested a Cadillac Margarita x 3= $48 Food x2= $28 Total with tax $84. They have a big stage, where they're going to bring in bands to play Spanish and English same with Karaoke nights. There are many big screen TVs with mariachi bands playing. It would be perfect for football and sporting game parties. There is parking out front or a parking lot on the side, if you go through the alley! It's a good size venue with nice decor, nothing too fussy. Our waiter was very gracious and did a great job of explaining some of the dishes. The green salsa with chips was very flavorful and not too spicy at all. I love a good street taco and the beef tacos are very good. My husband had the Torta Ahogada and loved it. We rolled in here on a Thursday night and these guys were closing. The bar was clean and inviting and they let us all have a round. We came back on a Sunday night for dinner. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp and my husband had the garlic shrimp, plus queso and chips. The service was amazing. We had a few rounds of margaritas at the bar also. Everyone was kind and helpful. My husband and I were looking for a new place to grab dinner. We decided to give this place a chance. It is the old Tres Hombres location on Victorian Ave. They remodeled it a bit on the inside it looks nice. I ordered a beef quesobrirria taco with rice and beans. The taco was delicious and had a ton of flavor. The refried beans were good nothing out of this world but still good. The Mexican rice had good texture but was lacking in flavor. My husband ordered the shrimp tacos he said they had a ton of flavor and he thought the shrimp was cooked perfectly. His plate came with yellow rice which I thought was way better than the red rice. My husband liked the red better lol I also ordered a soursop margarita which was very good. I'd for sure order it again. Came by today to check out Cameron Pelado and was not disappointed. Restaurant was pretty spacey and felt pretty inviting. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our waiter was on the ball the entire time. We got the tostada de atun, molcajete Del Mar, and some tacos. Everything was really good and portions were very generous. Only small complaint was the lack of goat birria, but that might not be available at all times. Will definitely be back. read more

This restaurant has been on my list to try since they opened their doors. Most of their menu items are seafood made Mexican style, they also offer non seafood traditional Mexican food items. We visited on a Friday right around 6pm, we didn't need a reservation and we had a party of 7. There is a parking garage nearby, street parking and a parking lot across the street as well. We did order some drinks that our server recommended and they all taste really good. We also had some appetizers which included a cheese dip with chorizo and fresh tortillas to go along with it. We had the shrimp empanadas which are a 11/10 the salsa that came with the empanadas completed the flavor really well but it can be a little on the spicy side if you're not a fan of salsa, for me it was the perfect combination. We also had an order of oysters that had some ceviche on top, also super tasty keep in mind the oysters we had were raw. Our main dishes included the bandera burrito which is essentially a wet burrito with green and red salsa. We had habanero aguachiles, very good but very spicy, they do have mild options as well. We had the cielo, mar y Tierra Molcajete which included, shrimp, beef and chicken along with other items and a side of rice and beans. The kids menu came with a drink called agua Fresca, we had the hibiscus water which I highly recommend to try and it came with a drawing tablet as well. This was perfect to keep the kids entertained while we were having dinner. Our server was excellent and gave us great recommendations. We can't forget about dessert! We had the Nieve Frita which is "fried ice cream" it's a good shareable portion. Every dish we had taste amazing and service was excellent. Can't wait to go back to try other menu items. read more

The food is amazing, everything we tried was delicious! The aguachiles, camarones cucaracha, shrimp and octopus zarandeados, shrimp cocktail, shrimp empanadas, carne asada, birria tacos, molcajete, and even the breakfast options like chilaquiles, menudo, and huevos divorciados were all incredible. Our server, Chata, was phenomenal, truly the best service I've experienced in town. She went above and beyond, always with a warm smile and great energy. This was my 3rd time dining here. 1st two times it was okay. Today I go and it was the World Cup Mexico game. Busy but not insane. I walked in and stood at the wait to be seated area (just me by myself) and I stood there waiting for over 7 minutes while staff saw me and chose not seat me, while they waited tables for the crowd there to watch World Cup. I don't recommend...and I'll never go again. Not acknowledging customers walking in, even to say "we'll be with you shortly" is epically bad. Food is also over priced. Never coming back. read more

Came here for the second time with my family and we all loved what we got! The variety in the seafood tower was great and extremely fresh. The asada was tender and the camarones à la diabla were perfectly cooked, and just the right amount of spicy. The mango in the ceviche tropical added the perfect sweetness. There was an explosion of flavors in every single dish. The beer has a great authentic flavor, by far better than any other place in reno. The service was amazing, as always, and they are always open to suggestions on how to improve! Reno really needed a restaurant like this, the best mariscos in town by far! read more

The place was recommended to us by a family member and it sounded good. The only issue is we never got the chance to actually eat anything. We were one of the first tables sat and the only new table with non white customers. Every other table sat after us was attended and were white customers. I'm very disappointed given what they serve. Even after somebody, I'm assuming a manager?, noticed, he only brought us chips (weren't the best) and no one seem to care how long we were neglected (he said someone else would come get our drink order). The time we waited wasn't even insanely long, it was more upsetting that everybody who was white was attended before us. This is a new spot in Reno/Sparks with great seafood. Service is attentive and they also have non seafood options. Been 3 times and everything we have tried has been great. Recommend the aguachiles which are fresh and nicely portioned. But their octopus is also very good and the shrimp empanadas too. Haven't tried much in the way of cocktails other than the Paloma but their cocktail menu looks great too. Place is big and open and they have garage doors thay most likely ill be open in the summer and that's always nice. This place is different than other seafood places in town. Family and I came here on Valentine's Day for dinner and I was happy that they were able to get us a table. The service was very friendly but we waited a long time for drinks, our plates to be cleared, and our bill even though they weren't very busy. The menu needs serious attention, as there were several things that are misleading. For example, my 7yr old wanted standard fried fish, so I asked the server about the Tilapia to ensure it was just a fish filet and although she said yes, it ended up being an entire fish, fins, head, skin, all fried. Luckily my kid tried it but unsurprisingly, he didn't like it (it was greasy and lacked flavor). Also, the menu said it came with fries and when I asked, they looked at me like I was crazy, although they did bring some out and they were good. For my order, I tried the standard enchilada (chicken) with red sauce and chili relleno combo. The enchilada was ok but the sauce wasn't super flavorful and the enchilada needed more cheese. The relleno was not good, the breading was not crispy and the cheese in the middle was unmelted. The classic margarita was very good and prices were decent but overall I wasn't impressed on my first trip here so probably won't be back. read more
