My wife and I went to La Madeleine for breakfast because we had been given a gift card. I ordered an omelette and asked if they had gluten free bread option and they said no. I then asked if I could substitute something like fruit for the croissant and they said no. If you go to Denny's they have both gluten free muffins (which are very nice) and they will substitute fruit in place of bread. My wife also asked for a substitute in her order and they said no. Apparently there are no substitutions at all! When we went to pay we were told their gift card reader was not working. There was no sign out saying that the card reader was not working. You think the manager might have apologized and offered some sort of compensation, but La Madeleine does not do anything like this apparently. The food was OK but nothing special. For the same money you can have a lot better omelette at Denny's or IHOP, with much better service. My wife and I really like the ambiance at La Madeleine, like we always have at other La Madeleine's. But the food is not all that special and the service stinks. We will use up our gift cards (assuming they get their card reader working) but we won't go back after that. read more

Quality of service has really gone downhill. The fireplace hasn't worked in over a week or so since I've been there last. Today, the dessert display was empty too and it was just a little after 5:00 pm. I thought they were closing down. Gross..went here for brunch and my mom got oatmeal...that was cold! Funny last time I checked oatmeal was warm. But the girl did not even realize that it wasn't steaming when it came out. First time here, did not feel like being in Paris to me. Ambiance, presentation lacking as the other restaurants in this chain have some snap, this was flat affect all the way. No French music, having said that we could actually carry on a conversation, not overly busy for a Saturday lunch run. Being a person that eats dessert first, way disappointed, not one macaroon in the place, the menus were stuck behind the counter, there were no specials on a menu board and the employees appeared bored. No smiling faces, sterile environment, guess that means it appeared to be clean, one salad sampler and one chicken pesto pasta, the salad sampler got an okay rating, the other did not. Blah and more blah. The line was not congested and it was wide open spaces but had two wait staff almost mow me down. Water had puddled around the table we sat at and not one soul attempted to clean it up and prevent a lawsuit. Won't be back. read more

We went back yesterday and found the same great service and quality of food from a few weeks back. The potato soup and Quiche Lorraine was perfect. I ordered dinner through Grubhub for my husband and me the other night. The main dish was missing the chicken so I called La Madeline. The manager had an employee deliver the chicken (and a free cookie for the inconvenience) to my house within 30 minutes. I couldn't have asked for the situation being handled any better. This specific location is one of a kind, the people are friendly, the parking is spacious and the food is always good. I have stoped at many of the locations in Houston and consider the 99 and I-10 is one of the best, if not the best lamadeline cafe. The food is always hot, fresh and quick to deliver. read more

I like the pesto pasta here. I haven't tried too many other options as I haven't had the chance yet, but you can't go wrong with the pesto pasta. This location (so far) has been very prompt with service and the food has been consistent. However, a coworker of mine did have the spinach quiche, which did not have any flavor. I did find some of the silverware to still be dirty and the inside feels a bit cramped to me, but overall this is a decent place to eat which is why I gave it 3 stars. read more

La Madeline is tasty and I love the franchise. This location however needs to be shut down. My lady friend and I were having lunch, we noticed her order came out wrong; we asked for no sauce on her sandwich and they put the sauce - go figure. She took her plate up to the front to explain to the worker what happened, and she takes the plate to the back. My friend sits down as we wait for her new plate... The same worker who took the plate from my friend walks into the dining area to show the manager who is presumably eating lunch with her family. The manager makes a face and gets up (doesn't know we are the customers with that plate). We hear the manager ask the worker if there is anyway to scrape off the sauce? (Don't know why this is an issue, it's their mistake... also what if my friend was allergic to the sauce? Luckily she's not... ) After what seemed a lifetime, the manager goes back to her brunch with her family and one of the workers brings my friend her plate. Now, when we turned the plate in... she didn't take a bite out of anything... the full bag of chips were on the plate as well as two halves of a sandwich. SO with that being said... it should've looked the same right? Well, yes, any other restaurant would have done that. McDonald's would have done that... Well. Wrong... her plate had one half of a sandwich and no chips. We left our plates on the table, pushed our chairs in, and we headed out to our parked car. What an awful experience I wish never happened. I will never return there to this location ever again. It's a shame... it's in a good area, it taking away from a business that could provide better customer service. read more

Today's visit was absolutely horrible. I've never seen a more filthy restaurant in my life. It was really unimaginable. There was garbage all over the floor and food on the chairs. The food tasted old and was cold. In hindsight I should not have eaten my food. Now I feel sick. The employees all seem unhappy to be working there as none had a good attitude. You can taste the fact that it's not pre made/frozen. James the GM will go above and beyond to take care of his guests and makes sure the food is on point. Wifi doesn't work! Settled in to do some work while enjoying coffee. Never heard of a coffee shop that doesn't have functioning WiFi. Staff confirmed the WiFi is a consistent issue. So, coffee and food are fine, but if you are looking for a "work from home" coffee shop. This isn't it! read more

It can be great here or like today a complete miss......ordered the French Country Breakfast and was very specific about no bread with my meal. He wouldn't assist us when we were placing our order and then when we sat down same manager went to every single table with WHITE people and asked how they were, how their wait time was and if they needed anything and completely ignored us!!! My daughter and I ate breakfast at this La Madeleine's this past Thursday morning. We've eaten at the Sugar Land location several times, so we figure this would be a good place to stop. Totally different experience which tells me this particular La Madeleine is poorly managed. We both ordered the Country French Breakfast with coffee. We got our trays and waited for someone to take our order. Employees were too busy talking to each other to do this. Finally, a guy walks by as he was going to the bread section and takes our order. We proceeded to get our coffee. There were three dispensers of coffee and two were empty. This was at 8am and they weren't even busy! We flagged down an employee and informed her. We both decided to get decaff (only one left) and sat down to wait for our food. The location in Sugar Land is usually very busy, but we had no issues finding a nice quiet table (flag?). A few minutes later, my daughter went back to get more coffee and the one she wanted was still empty. So, she got another type of coffee and it wasn't even hot. Our food came out fairly quick. None of our food was even close to being hot. The eggs were cold and the potato galette was cold and stale. I'd bet money it was leftover from yesterday. Nothing was even close to being hot or even warm. Without a doubt, it was the worst breakfast we ever had. It's obvious there's a management issue at this location. We will never come back to this location. read more

This place is solid , but not great. My Parisian eggs benedict was ok, the bread slightly over toasted and my eggs cooked to well for eggs Benedict . The rest of my groups food received good reviews. It seems that on my last 3 visits here they've lost a step or something has changed. I'm hoping that the next time I return things improve. They do have a good offering in coffee. Tonight I had a taste for the chicken and bacon sandwich with a caesar salad. I normally eat at the one in Town and Country location but this one was closer to home. The clerk Mary Roz was rude as possible, any other day I can look over foolishness, but when nothing I ordered was put together well, I had to suck it up and eat elsewhere. The manager on duty, Eleno Rocha was most accommodating. However, once my mind is changed, it's changed. I do appreciate people who love their occupation and work hard at nursing their craft! Great place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch! The food is just like all other la Madeleine's. Pretty good. I love the potato soup and caesar chicken salads! Most of the stuff on their menu is pretty yummy! I love the fruit tarts there (: Cons: The location is kind of terrible and hidden. I wish they were located in a better location for better access. The dishes and utensils seem a little dirty, I always have to ask for new ones or wipe them down myself. read more

Was an ok experience. I try to stick to a all vegetables diet when I can't get free range grain fed animals. I was disappointed at the lack of vegetarian options. Even the tomato soup was made with chicken broth. Also quiches were very dry and bland. I'm ambient was nice and they had a large sitting room in the back to accommodate a large group. read more

My family has gone to La Madeline for years and have always enjoyed our visits. We were in between Dr.s appointments for my 78 year old mother and stopped at this location for breakfast. My mother fell in the bathroom and sustained a head injury which resulted in us calling 911 from our cell phone. We live in Tomball so when we were asked by the paramedics the address for our location we didn't know exactly where we were. As my mother laid on the bathroom floor and we scrambled around trying to give the paramedics our location and information.... Not one employee asked if we needed anything.... NOT ONE! We had to go outside to retrieve the address to give the paramedics.... Ambulance is there... sirens...there's paramedics everywhere... stretchers... back boards.. machines with blinking lights and loud beeping noises... Not one employee... manager....bus boy/girl lifted a finger nor asked if we needed anything... There were patrons there that were concerned... but the employees could care less. Paramedics had my mother in the ambulance.. right outside the glass front doors... assessing her and we stood out front for maybe 15 minutes... Still... no employee from La Madeleine expressed any concern. Where is compassion? Where is concern? Did we get it all done? Of course we did and EMS transported my mother to the hospital. It just breaks my heart the human compassion was no where to be found.... at an established, well known restaurant. Shame on you read more
