Wow! I planned to go to a different coffee spot but I got annoyed with traffic so I landed here. Im glad I did, for several reasons. They were having a special event today and tomorrow AND I ran into some 3rd cousins I hadnt seen in a while. Not to mention, the coffee menu is amazinngggg. We arrived just as they were opening. We were impressed by the assortment of baked goods to choose from. The prices were very reasonable for what you get. I wasn't a fan of my campfire coffee, but it didn't have any bitterness or watered down flavor, so probably just personal preference! read more

I would definitely recommend this place for the ambience, appropriate mood music and good taste with intentional interior. If you are lucky there are at least two chairs with the soft tushy cushions but the rest are the hard wooden hemorrhoid haters but at least it's someplace to sit. The personnel were nice people and would take and make your order promptly and without a frown. My cappuccino was good as well as my son's green mocha Hulk monster or whatever he had but the takeaway here for me is they need to take that cheese and tomato soup off the menu! Horrendous as you can see in a picture, it does not do the picture justice. It's just toasted bread with cheese slapped in the middle of it and some semi water down Tomatoes Campbell Soup. It's okay who goes to a coffee shop just to order comfort food like that? Well I mistakenly thought maybe somebody in the family had a secret recipe that they could surprise and unsuspecting customer but not this one my friend not this one. Go to coffee spot in Katy Asia Town. Only wish is they would open earlier during the day so I would be able to grab the drinks on the way to my morning commute. All coffees are extremely flavorful on their lattes. Their snacks have always been tasty as well. In terms of fresh brands for espresso machines, the beans are a bit bitter to my liking and I would prefer notes with nuts and chocolate opposed to acidic flavors. read more

My best friend and I came to visit for the first time with our kids for a blind box pop up event. I enjoy events like these when they are hosted at coffee shops. They are located in a complex in Katy Asia Town area which has plenty of parking. There was a variety of sitting areas for small or big groups. The staff was friendly & didn't rush us when I had to take time to look at the menu and pastry display. We both got themed drinks, sparkling blueberry lavender lemonade & coconut cold brew with coco cold foam with variety of macarons. Both drinks were really good and the macarons were slightly hard since we rushed to eat them without thawing but they were very tasty! The decor was fun to look through especially the coffee cups on the display! The pop up event was very cute and we stayed for about an hour. Hope to check this cafe out again! read more

The coffee was great and the staff was really nice: they have books and board games. They also sell little cutesy keychains and phone charms. I had a specialty coffee and it wasn't too sweet which I appreciated. I told the employee that I don't like super sweet coffees and so she recommended one of theirs that is a little less sweet than the one I was initially wanting to try. Nice ambiance with books, manga, and board games. Also a selection of pins and handmade charms for sale. Got the Salty Sweetie and the French Toast Latte to drink and a buttered croissant and a ham and cheese pocket. Came out very quick ~5 minutes. The salty sweetie wasn't as sweet as I would've liked, but the French toast latte was very good! Both of the pastries we got were both alright, but honestly tasted the same as you can get from any other shop. The barrista was also very nice! The only thing I felt that was special about this coffee shop was the small selection of books and manga they had. If you want to come and read manga while you get some coffee I'd recommend it, other than that I'd say it's a pretty average experience. read more

This is a great coffee shop!! The staff was incredibly friendly!! I got an iced chai latte with oat milk and a butter croissant warmed up. The chai was DELICIOUS!!! I haven't had a chai that good in a while, so whoever made it shout out to you! The butter croissant was also really flaky and had a good butter taste so I really enjoyed it. The only coffee place that piqued my interest in the Katy area when I was doing my research. Cute & cozy but a bit loud; not the best place if you want to take an online meeting. They do have plenty of outlets if you plan on staying a while. Their 12 SPECIALTY LATTES with unique names & flavorings all sound amazing. The SEASONAL ones will change out so it gives you an excuse to come back often to see what new ones they have. You can add CBD for an extra $3, alternative milk 0.99, & size upgrade for 0.50 - TOFFEE MOON: sea salt caramel toffee, buttermmon, & bourbon maple make for a creamy robust drink. - VIOLET MOON: one of the seasonal lattes, with lavender, buttermmon, & oat milk. Was a little sweet for my preference but with an extra shot it would be perfect. I'm pretty sure you can also request it a little less sweet. They have a bookcase of MANGA & novels that you can read while dining in. They also have a couple of board games. They do serve food & pastries for you to snack on. read more

So I have been coming to this cafe for about 5 months now. I always loved the atmosphere, drinks and food however, an incident today has made me extremely upset. My friend and I ordered 3 drinks ( one extra for our friend) 2 house sandwiches and one avocado toast. While waiting for our sandwiches we heard one of the employees yell ( I also saw the employee but I won't call her out ) " 3 SANDWICHES WHO THE F ORDERS 3 SANDWICHES" and make a fuss. I guess another customer had ordered a sandwich but we only ordered two. As someone who has also worked 5 years in retail I understand the annoyance of sometimes doing your job. Lava coffee did a Sanrio special so I decided to stop by and check it out. They had a special Sanrio menu which was pretty cute, along with a little backdrop to take pictures and a little reading book as well. I tried a few of the drinks on their special menu, including the Hello Kitty, which was my favorite since it wasn't too sweet or too artificial tasting. It was like a strawberry latte. I also tried the kerropi which was a matcha latte with lychee. I could probably do without the lychee since the flavor was too faint anyways. The last drink I tasted was the Maru. It wasn't bad, but wasn't outstanding. It was pretty much a mocha latte, which is standard for most coffee places. I was hoping that if we dined in we would have our drinks in the cute Sanrio mason jars I saw online, but they were just in regular cups. The staff did draw the characters on the hot drinks which was cute though! Overall, the place was nice and quiet. It's good to have a coffee shop in Katy Asia town where all the other drink places tend to be more boba based. I think if I was in the area looking for coffee this wouldn't be too bad to stop by, but I don't know if I would go out of my way for it. read more

Depending on the day you go, it can be extremely crowded where you will wait for your drink for awhile or you get your drink within 10 minutes. There's usually only 2 baristas so have some patience as this cafe is a relaxing cafe. My favorite is their ice honey lavender latte - my other go to drinks are honey bear latte and seasonal drink is hot peppermint white mocha. Prices are reasonable and baristas are always friendly, even if they have long lines. I'm usually stuffing my face with boba tea or food when I'm in Katy Asian town but this is my to-go for coffee when I'm in the area. If you're creative, definitely bring out the artist in you to earn a free drink! read more

After dinner, we popped next door to this cozy cafe. Upon entering, the lighting and aesthetic provided a warm and welcoming environment. The two staff members behind the counter were delightful and welcoming. My friend and I felt bad that we had come in 30 minutes prior to closing, but they were more than happy to take our order still. Much appreciated! I ordered a mocha frappe with an extra shot of espresso, and my friend got the Dark Moon specialty drink. The frappe was well balanced between chocolate and creamy milk. A quick stop for their Sanrio collab with a local vendor. Cute stuff and good idea to name a few drinks after some characters. Heck it got me in the doors. I got the Maru which pretty much was just a latte with some cinnamon if my memory serves me correct. However, couldn't taste the coffee nor the cinnamon. It wasn't great and I could have made something very similar at home as well as save me the $5+ bucks. The highlight of this place is its slew of manga. Clearly, if you're not a manga/anime fan, this absolutely does not pertain to you, but its a good plus for me as I brushed up on some manga during my time there. read more

Tried this place a few months ago & could not recall how I felt about my latte. I went again & now I know. The service was fine. They were friendly. No issues with the Barista. Place was quiet & folks seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's just my vanilla latte with oat milk did not carry enough coffee taste. It tasted too much like milk. I'm not a sweet coffee drinker, I like to taste my coffee. For a coffee lover, this was disappointing. I really can't speak to any of the other drinks or food. I was laser focused on running in & getting my standard vanilla latte, oat milk coffee fix. This is the same drink I got last time & at all coffee shops. My rating is truly based on this drink, as a coffee lover. So for me, after 2 tries, I will need to move on to other coffee shops. read more

Dont get me wrong this cafe is adorable with amazing quality food and coffee. However on more than at least eight seprate visits they are out of something. I get the same thing each visit. Avacado toast and a mini cinn drink. They were out of avacado a couple times, then on another visit the avacado were not ripe, or they are out of boiled eggs. Parked in the same area as Ding Tea, 85 Bakery, and Kinokuniya bookstore, a hidden gem! I don't naturally go for coffee when I'm in KAT (Katy Asia Town), because I'm usually stuffing my face with food, boba, a cream puff, or ice cream...hence, coffee is usually not in my peripheral when I go, but this time around, we were on our way to the in-laws house and I hadn't had my cup of joe for the day, so we stopped in, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the coffee was! They have seasonal coffees offered as well as monthly specials where the staff come up with their own concoction and so it becomes a surprise off menu type drink each month. The decor and furniture is inviting. Everything was clean! I really enjoyed perusing their extensive menu and they were also hosting an event where you could design your own cup for a free beverage on your next visit, as long as you bring that designer cup back with you. This place was actually quite spacious inside and very well decorated. They had so many drink options and flavors to add. Close second to my favorite coffee shop in Katy! Iced Toffee moon latte: this was recommended by the barista and I loved it! The bottom had salted caramel syrup which added the perfect amount of sweetness. Lava coffee offered a wide selection of coffee, along with seasonal options. As a coffee connoisseur, I'm always looking for coffee shops who use fresh local beans, Lava coffee uses Amaya coffee beans which is one of my favorites! I tried a seasonal drink, the Banana Foster which incorporated banana, cinnamon, & bourbon in a cold brew. It was very unique and delicious! My husband got the Green Hulk, which is pretty much a dirty matcha (espresso + matcha), I had a sip and thought it was pretty good as well with a good balance of matcha and coffee. read more
