Nice decor and ambiance of this coffee place. Free WiFi and lot of space if you like to socialize with friends. Quick service.
I recently found out I'm lactose and it's turned my world upside down. I was SO happy they had an almond milk option!!! The honey lavender latte is soo delicious I'd love to try it cold too! The girlies helped with recommendations and it came out so quickly. You can definitely hangout here, study or play games. Definitely recommend!
I would definitely recommend this place for the ambience, appropriate mood music and good taste with intentional interior. If you are lucky there are at least two chairs with the soft tushy cushions but the rest are the hard wooden hemorrhoid haters but at least it's someplace to sit. The personnel were nice people and would take and make your order promptly and without a frown. My cappuccino was good as well as my son's green mocha Hulk monster or whatever he had but the takeaway here for me is they need to take that cheese and tomato soup off the menu! Horrendous as you can see in a picture, it does not do the picture justice. It's just toasted bread with cheese slapped in the middle of it and some semi water down Tomatoes Campbell Soup. It's okay who goes to a coffee shop just to order comfort food like that? Well I mistakenly thought maybe somebody in the family had a secret recipe that they could surprise and unsuspecting customer but not this one my friend not this one. Parking lot is ample and it sits in the strip center of the Asian Town off of 99 and I-10.
Go to coffee spot in Katy Asia Town. Only wish is they would open earlier during the day so I would be able to grab the drinks on the way to my morning commute. All coffees are extremely flavorful on their lattes. Their snacks have always been tasty as well. In terms of fresh brands for espresso machines, the beans are a bit bitter to my liking and I would prefer notes with nuts and chocolate opposed to acidic flavors.
My best friend and I came to visit for the first time with our kids for a blind box pop up event. I enjoy events like these when they are hosted at coffee shops. They are located in a complex in Katy Asia Town area which has plenty of parking. There was a variety of sitting areas for small or big groups. The staff was friendly & didn't rush us when I had to take time to look at the menu and pastry display. We both got themed drinks, sparkling blueberry lavender lemonade & coconut cold brew with coco cold foam with variety of macarons. Both drinks were really good and the macarons were slightly hard since we rushed to eat them without thawing but they were very tasty! The decor was fun to look through especially the coffee cups on the display! The pop up event was very cute and we stayed for about an hour. Hope to check this cafe out again!
The only coffee place that piqued my interest in the Katy area when I was doing my research. Cute & cozy but a bit loud; not the best place if you want to take an online meeting. They do have plenty of outlets if you plan on staying a while. Their 12 SPECIALTY LATTES with unique names & flavorings all sound amazing. The SEASONAL ones will change out so it gives you an excuse to come back often to see what new ones they have. You can add CBD for an extra $3, alternative milk 0.99, & size upgrade for 0.50 - TOFFEE MOON: sea salt caramel toffee, buttermmon, & bourbon maple make for a creamy robust drink. - VIOLET MOON: one of the seasonal lattes, with lavender, buttermmon, & oat milk. Was a little sweet for my preference but with an extra shot it would be perfect. I'm pretty sure you can also request it a little less sweet. They have a bookcase of MANGA & novels that you can read while dining in. They also have a couple of board games. They do serve food & pastries for you to snack on.
This is a great coffee shop!! The staff was incredibly friendly!! I got an iced chai latte with oat milk and a butter croissant warmed up. The chai was DELICIOUS!!! I haven't had a chai that good in a while, so whoever made it shout out to you! The butter croissant was also really flaky and had a good butter taste so I really enjoyed it. There were lots of tables for working or meeting with friends. It was kinda chilly so bring a jacket. If I'm ever in Katy, I will 100% stop at this shop :)
Great spot and Katie to grab coffee and study. They have a decent amount of seating, friendly service, and great drink drinks.! I would come back.
Nice ambiance with books, manga, and board games. Also a selection of pins and handmade charms for sale. Got the Salty Sweetie and the French Toast Latte to drink and a buttered croissant and a ham and cheese pocket. Came out very quick ~5 minutes. The salty sweetie wasn't as sweet as I would've liked, but the French toast latte was very good! Both of the pastries we got were both alright, but honestly tasted the same as you can get from any other shop. The barrista was also very nice! The only thing I felt that was special about this coffee shop was the small selection of books and manga they had. If you want to come and read manga while you get some coffee I'd recommend it, other than that I'd say it's a pretty average experience.
I don't know how, but they completely forgot our order. I noticed after we placed our order, everyone who came in after us got their drink already. When I asked the girl she gasped in shock, so they clearly forgot. We waited about 20 min for drinks when it wasn't busy. I got the iced honey lavender latte. It was ok and I wouldn't be back to this coffee shop. There are too many other good boba/coffee shops in the area.
So I have been coming to this cafe for about 5 months now. I always loved the atmosphere, drinks and food however, an incident today has made me extremely upset. My friend and I ordered 3 drinks ( one extra for our friend) 2 house sandwiches and one avocado toast. While waiting for our sandwiches we heard one of the employees yell ( I also saw the employee but I won't call her out ) " 3 SANDWICHES WHO THE F ORDERS 3 SANDWICHES" and make a fuss. I guess another customer had ordered a sandwich but we only ordered two. As someone who has also worked 5 years in retail I understand the annoyance of sometimes doing your job. However do not make it aware to your customers !! I'm sorry it was inconvenience for you to do your job. I like this place but I won't be coming here again because now I feel like an inconvenience. Great place to study tho if you only order a drink
Easy parking. The blackberry vanilla latte (hot) with almond milk is sooo good. Creamy and the perfect amount of sweetness. Decor was nice. My daughter liked looking at the decorated cups. I'll be back to try other flavors.

My husband and I were looking for a coffee shop nearby Katy asia town & found this cute little spot. The inside was simple, modern, and offered a nice environment to study in. Lava coffee offered a wide selection of coffee, along with seasonal options. As a coffee connoisseur, I'm always looking for coffee shops who use fresh local beans, Lava coffee uses Amaya coffee beans which is one of my favorites! I tried a seasonal drink, the Banana Foster which incorporated banana, cinnamon, & bourbon in a cold brew. It was very unique and delicious! My husband got the Green Hulk, which is pretty much a dirty matcha (espresso + matcha), I had a sip and thought it was pretty good as well with a good balance of matcha and coffee. read more

I came here a few weeks ago to study and I love how cozy this place is and there is plenty of places to sit as well. When I first came here I wanted to try something new and I love matcha so I got the Rose Matcha Latte with soy milk but iced. I was pretty underwhelmed by the flavor of both matcha and rose and didn't really enjoy this drink at all because as I kept drinking, the taste was changing and it became weird. I don't think I will be getting this one again unfortunately. I came here a second time but with a friend and we didn't order any drinks but we split a cheesecake together. We got the Cookie Butter cheesecake and it was good. It was soft, not too sweet, and definitely shareable. We studied here for about 3 hours and there was quite a few people here but it wasn't noisy at all. The inside is super cold however so if you plan to study here for a while, definitely bundle up!! read more

I'm a big coffee lover, and Lava is on the top of my list of favorite local coffee spots! The Honey Bear Latte, Toffee Moon Latte, and Butterbeer Latte are my recommendations. They always have a fun seasonal menu with rotating flavors that don't disappoint also! They have pastries here too, and I love the Almond Danish- get it warmed up, goes perfectly with your cup of coffee. If you have an artistic side, you can design a paper coffee cup that they put on display in their shop, and you'll get a free coffee in exchange! It's always cool to see all the creative designs that people have made. I only wish they were opened earlier in the morning so I could stop by before work during the week. Make sure to sign up for the rewards program too, and become Lava Coffee regulars like us! read more

This is my first time visiting Lava Coffee, and they definitely have a new customer with me! The place was very clean and the staff was very knowledgeable. The lady taking my order was very patient and gave me a quick rundown of some of the more popular drinks and I decided on the iced Cinni Minni Latte with half and half and an extra shot of espresso. You also have the option to add CBD! The ambience in this establishment makes you feel very welcome and it has chill vibes. Good energy here :) read more

First time at Lava Coffee and I know it won't be my last! The service was great, the baristas were really helpful too. I recall being indecisive before deciding on a recommendation. The iced matcha drinks we ordered were yummy, and there was a hint of lavender if my memory serves me correctly. Would definitely recommend. I'll be returning! read more
We scored three different coffee drinks, all done very well and with a smile. One java chip frozen blended coffee drink, another frozen frappe was consumed wit' gusto, I went with a hot cappuccino wit' 2 splendas, I tested all three and they passed wit' flying colors. Whenever we're in this part of Katy it'll be hard not to stop in. The have a mini art gallery of hand drawn works of art on to go cups.....do a little artwork for a free drink, very nice. read more

This was a very cute little place that is newly open right nearer Katie's Asian town. There are a lot of new pop up boba tea and coffee places. This area's growing so fast there is so much to go see. This is a cute little coffee shop that has a lot of awesome specialty lattes you should go check out. I ordered the honey bear and my friend ordered the bourbon legend. Bourbon legend is definitely a manly latte if anyone ever thought there could be one. Honey bear wasnt my favorite but overall had homemade taste to each one.. essentially flavors you couldnt just come by anywhere. Will have to try some of their sweets next time! read more
This is a café with an extremely calm atmosphere. The decor, furniture, and lighting give Lava Coffee a cozy feeling. Their menu mostly has coffee with milk alternatives, but very few other drink options for non coffee drinkers. However, bottled water and sandwiches are available, as well as a tiny assortment of baked goods. Since I am not a coffee drinker, I ordered the rose matcha latte and enjoyed it. It has a creamy and light matcha flavor that is very soothing. The mini cheesecake is the perfect size and not overly sweet with a dense consistency. Overall, I was impressed by the modern popular indie music softly playing and how diligent the employees were at cleaning tables after customers left. The employees are very friendly and I can tell this café is well taken care of, which makes the experience all the better. read more

They have the cutest cafe ambiance so chill. Omg I am dying for this lavender iced latté!!!! It's so much better then the one I usually get at Summer Moon... I don't know but it may be the barista too. I will surely stop by again. Also there was a little baby walking around who added EXTRA CUTENESS to my visit. Maybe the owners baby but she was so cute. read more
I recommend this coffee shop. The mellow mallow latte had the perfect amount of lavender and you can also taste some marshmallow to it. It also had the perfect amount of caffeine to it so I can continue my day. The ambience in this coffee shop is perfect. Dine in is open but limited to 20 people with masks required. The women's bathroom is clean and they have lots of parking available in this area. read more

This is a gem that is way to hidden!! Please check it out and support them. I love that this place is so chill and relaxing with a classic Interior. You can come with a group of friends or family and just have a good quality time and service. They do have a good amount of seating and a section with books and Manga which is pretty cool! for does Anime fans out there like myself Lol . What they offer: * Coffee which is so delicious ; I recommend their Dark Amethyst Latte. -They do Sale International coffee from Guatemala, El Salvador and so on ~ therefore their coffee game is good and more specialized when it comes to flavor and tones of the bean itself. Of course just like anything you can request for your coffee to be stronger or darker roast if available at the time. *Pastries; I recommend their Homemade Cheesecakes their Butter Beer flavor is my favorite! *Loose leaf tea; available by the cup or pot. *Small breakfasts like avocado toast and Tikka croissant~ Aaaannnd finally Cute mugs/ tumblers to buy. ***Side note to the Owner please bring back the Rose Muffin!!! Lava Coffee is by far one of the best spots in Katy. Their espresso is roasted here in Houston (Amaya Coffee), the baristas are always friendly and helpful, and of course the drinks are amazing. There are so many options for coffee and even non-coffee drinks - the Honey Bear latte and Lavender Lemonade are must-haves. The owner bakes delicious muffins and is always experimenting with new flavors. The earl grey blueberry muffin will change your life!! read more
It was my first time here and the atmosphere was amazing. I wasn't sure on what to get, so I had to scroll through the reviews for some recommendations. I ended up getting the Honey Bear w/ soy milk and a banana muffin. Honey Bear wasn't too sweet with a hint of cinnamon, it was just made perfectly! As for the muffin, OH MY GOD it was delicious. I will definitely be getting that muffin again. As for seatings, there was plenty of open tables to sit at when I went. There was already people there studying. It's a very small coffee shop, so it feels a little tight and cramp. Overall, I will definitely be back to try new drinks or study. read more

My husband and I visited Katy, TX , we are from the Seattle area and we were told about Lava coffee. The ambiance is very laid back. Great music and friendly staff. The coffee is excellent and we will definitely be coming back again . It's a wonderful switch from Starbucks. I love the flavors of the Honey Graham and the coffee. read more

I'm liking the warm interior decor here; industrial vibe + European chic. Glowing interior bulbs and comfortable chairs. This is such a cosy and posh cafe tucked in a quiet plaza in Katy. It's also combined with what's known as 'Katy Asia town'. It was a great choice stopping by here mid afternoon after shopping nearby at Katy Mills. I recommend visiting this cafe if in the area. Sasha the owner, is super friendly and made me a creamy and decadent latte. I opted for the honey bear latte, which consists of honey, vanilla and cinnamon. Initially I opted for the cold version of this latte and was given the hot version of it instead. Sasha apologized and wanted to make me a new drink. To be honest I'm glad this mishap occurred. The warm and creamy latte was soothing and relaxing. I can only imagine that the cold version of these drinks would be just as good. I'm liking the signature flavors on the menu. There's also an extensive selection of tea's as well. I was able to savor every sip without feeling wired or buzzed. The coffee beans are locally sourced and full of warmth. There's a small selection of pastries to choose from; but the main star is their drinks. If this cafe was any closer I would try to visit more often. It's a bit of a trip but definitely worth it if in the area. As always mentioned before, it's a beautiful thing to support and appreciate local business! read more

A delicious experience! Freshly prepared drinks, appetising pastries, and a comfortable seating area full of books on shelves in the back area near the restrooms. You can get traditional espresso drinks like macchiatos, new spins on those like blackberry lattes - which sound perverse but are actually amazing, and a tranquil atmosphere for any guest venturing within. Lava coffee has become a priority for off duty delights! read more
