Really can't go wrong with the country French breakfast here. It's like the one and only dish I get no matter what time of the day it is. The potato galette is flavorful enough to where you don't need any extra sauce or seasoning and the edges are so crunchy. Egg was extra runny but still good. The croissant was crispy on the outside and buttery and flaky on the inside. Paired it with some butter and jam, and it was a perfect way to end the meal. The employees were so kind and attentive. It's great that they redecorated but the change to the ordering process is a mistake. when 4 or more folks are in line the queue extends to and out of the door and blocks folks leaving. Several folks just did not know how or where to order. The change to butter, bread and jams area is also disappointing. La Madeleine is a great place to go for business breakfast, brunch or lunch. This location in Katy is no exception. The restaurant serves cafeteria style and reminds me of similar places I have dined at in Europe. So though the name and essence is French, I have seen this style (mostly at airports) around the world. What I like about La Madeline is that it's a great place for breakfast meetings. Another miserable meal at this place. A group of us meets there because of its location. I ordered the American breakfast, asked that my scrambled eggs to be well done along with crispy bacon. When they brought my food, the eggs were runny and the bacon was greasy and half fat. Not a pleasure. Also, we wanted to get some desserts to go, and we stood at the counter with no one paying attention to us. We finally had to ask if one of the servers could please assist us with our takeout order. Although it was super packed the day after Christmas and the majority of my time was spent waiting in line, the experience was not bad. It isn't typically that busy, but in times like that it made me wish that their ordering system were different. I was in love with this place but the quality has gone so far down it's not even worth my money. This is the 5th time I purchase a fruit tart and the fruit always tastes like they went bad. Great customer service but kind of lack luster food. I got the cafe sampler which was really nice to get to try different dishes. I had the quiche lorraine - the patty was crispy on the sides but really watery on the bottom and I thought that it slightly lacked flavor despite the filling. I also got the onion soup, the soup was good on first bite but got increasingly more salty as I kept sipping. The last part of the sampler was the salad - I got the cranberry and pecan wilde field salad which was pretty good. I liked the sweet cranberry balancing out the vinaigrette. Although I couldn't find any pecans in the salad. Glad I finally checked this place off the list although if I were to come back I would not get the sampler again. read more

After voting today we 3 celebrated with a light brunch of some of our favorites tomato basil soup, Caesar salad with large ample shavings of Parmesan with their flavorful chicken on the side and some potato galettes. While the price is decent there's a few tweaks they can do to improve their food. Their famous tomato bisque was too salty? Tarte?I tried to force myself to eat it but I couldn't. I had it exchanged for their french onion soup. Unfortunately that was a miss too. Something about their soup taste so salty. I couldn't eat more than a couple bites before my tongue started to feel weird. While the salad is fresh they are very heavy handed with the dressing. Service has gone downhill. This used to be our favorite spot for family luncheon. Today, our family decided to visit the restaurant, our orders included my husband favorite cappuccino, he noticed it didn't taste like a cappuccino. He asked a waitress (Asian lady) to confirm that what he got was really a cappuccino because it looked and tasted like a latte with lots of milk. Her response was, what did you order? My husband told her a "cappuccino". Again she responded, "whatever you ordered is what we made for you". Wow, I am speechless! A good waitress would have known right away that a cappuccino comes in a smaller cup, a latte has more milk and it comes in a larger cup. We left the restaurant feeling disappointed. With that response and attitude, we are Not EVER coming back! We will be spending our money and 20% tips where we feel good about our spending. read more
