Most recently, I came here for lunch and a private party, both separate visits in January, and the service was pretty good, food was very good. Love the chicken pesto pasta! About the PRIVATE PARTY ROOM: I really am glad La Madeleine has a private room you can decorate at your will (of course with the exception of no hang on walls and ceilings). The private party-there were some issues from booking it to delivery of food and times, but overall it was a good experience. The managers, especially Jackie and another lady (I'm sorry I forgot her name-she was Asian) helped make the experience much better. Management also gave us a couple of food items on the house to make up for any disruptions which I greatly appreciate. Cost: call for a quote, but generally $100/hr on food or $300 for evening time. This is my go-to place when I don't want to cook but I want to eat healthy. My favorite options are the egg white omelette with spinach, chicken and mushroom, a fruit salade, a yogurt parfait and a cappuccino. Everything is fresh, healthy and delicious. The noise in this place can get a little annoying sometimes, and other times the ac is so strong that a jacket is not enough. Customer service is non existent. I stood by the pastries for over 20 minutes waiting for any one of the twenty employees that were here, to acknowledge that I was there to order. These employees seem to be very apathetic and finally when I asked where do I order, I was to "tell me what you want". So I ordered the large fruit tart, and not exaggerating here, the "large" fruit tart was 2 inch by 2 inch lol. Much smaller than my driver's license. If this is the large one, I would hate to see what the small one looks like. I ordered a cappuccino and honestly, the coffee was so weak and flavorless, I felt that I was drinking a cup of hot water with milk foam. This has to taste as one of, if not the worst cup of coffee I've had in my 49 years. This place is one I would recommend you steer clear from. This location has gone from one of the good to worse ...it is so dirty. There is flies and mosquitoes around the tables and drink area. You have to ask for clean spoons if you want to eat your soup. I remember this use to be a nice place to go and have croissants, soup and hang out with friends; however I am not sure what happened to it . The best customer service experience, are the ones that are truly genuine. Today Jackie provide that to me. My wife is not feeling well and asked for a specific menu item that was not available due to the limited menu of COVID-19. I called in to place an order asking if there's a way that they can make it, Jackie was glad to accommodate me saying that they have the ingredients on hand unlike some of the other stores. As I made my way through the rest of the orders she made recommendations based on what pastries were fresh, taking an extra step simply because she wanted me to enjoy my meal. There was a very personable gentleman behind the counter putting my order together when I came to pick it up Jackie took a look in the bag and said wait a minute I just cut some fresh fruit let's swap this fruit bowl out for him. When I complimented her on the customer experience she provided, she seemed perplexed even amused that I was impressed. They use to have amazing fruit tarts. My sister got two large ones for my B-I-L's birthday and it was absolutely gross. The bread was super hard and the custard taste like it's canned now. Had a decent experience here for some eggs & croissant and soup with latte/coffee. This La Madeleine is a pretty large location. I usually visit Katy Asia Town and see La Madeleine here, but with so much variety, I always opted for next time but since it was a bit chilly, soup is the way to go! The soup was pretty good although I kind of wished it was hotter. Latte was ok. They had two pieces of sliced bread put in a bag now instead of putting it all out for people to get. This is better as it is more sanitary and provides a cleaner area. They were really quick with getting the food to us, but it was hard to carry everything and find a table after paying. They did offer to help, but would prefer to have a seat first before getting everything at one time. I use to love this place but they have downgraded their quality of food. The satcher tort parfait had this delicious chocolate mousse in it, now it has a cheap thick pudding, it's very noticeable. Their individual fruit tarts were larger and round, not to mention the fruit they used was fresh, I got one with spoiled canned pineapple. Another thing is their mushroom sauce, I remember it being very creamy and now it seems so watered down. And last but not least; their jellies, they use to be so good and made from natural fruit now it's just a blob that you can self serve with a pump! The only thing this place has going for it is the ambience. Yesterday was my second time visiting this place and I was hoping they would redeem themselves. I ordered a salad and soup. I'm not sure I've ever paid $15 for lunch at a place where there was no table service. My French dip sandwich came on bland bread and "soup" to dip it in. The soup brought back fond memories of Paris... oh wait, I mean hospital beef broth. The side of chips were extremely vinegary and seemed drenched in salt. In fact, the "petite" Caesar salad was the best part of the meal. The French theme was over the top and annoying. The French tables and chairs were pretty comfortable, and the bathroom "French lessons"... no, I don't really need a lecture on my lunch break. This staff seems clueless. I left hungry . Edited to add: I left my tray, with the YUCK note on it (see photo) behind the cashier, where it was ignored for about 5 minutes. Then, it was cleared away. I love the food and pastries at La Madeline, but I do not like the ordering experience. Whether ordering from the bakery or cafe for to go or carryout, it always seems to be disorganized. Either the customers don't know where to stand after they order at the bakery and they are waiting for their goods, or the staff taking the in-house cafe orders are busy running back to the kitchen to place the food on the cafeteria line trays. If they could streamline the 2 line ordering processes, maybe I'll give them 5 stars. I have had the chocolate eclair from the bakery and the rosemary roasted chicken from the cafe. It's a nice French style place. I like the idea of it. French food but casual. It's a Texas sized version of La Boulange here in the Bay Area (lots and lots of seating). They even have free self-serve bread! However, the bakery items and such are definitely not on par with La Boulange. I did not try any of the actual food since it was between breakfast and lunch. Charming place to eat on a cold morning. Food is good and fair priced. I enjoy their breakfast items there. Eggs Benedict is good. If you like a lot of sauce you probably may want to ask for more as they do not drown the dish with it. I have enjoyed most items I have ordered. They usually bring the food to your table if it's not already prepared behind the glass when you order. After that you can help yourself to refills on coffee, soda, and tea. They also have wheat and white bread you can serve yourself with. What I like most about this place is when it's cold out and they have the fireplace going. It feels like your in a chalet in a mountain village or something. It looks like something out of Beauty and the Beast! Overall I give it 4 stars for food, ambiance and price. Around 3 PM today I asked for the manager to introduce myself and turn in my resume and application. I got this lady with a major attitude unwilling to work with me & also not giving me any type of help. She basically told me to take my resume and apply online after I told her that the website was acting up. She refused to take the resume and application copy I had in person. Don't go for an hour lunch break, you'll spend the whole hour in line. They don't have enough people working and it was a disaster. We spent 45 minutes in line, 10 minute at the register while everyone was running around. And then after I paid I never got a water glass so I stood at the counter for another 5 minutes waiting for the cashier to come back.
