We stopped here to get some breakfast on our way to Valle de Guadalupe. There are some pretty hanging roses near the entrance and a place to take photos in the back area if you want to kill some time. I didn't know that there was going to be such a long wait, so one of my friends was getting dizzy... It was neat to see the chefs grilling some of the food in the main dining room, but we were seated in a covered patio where all the children were LOL. They offer fresh cafe de olla with free refills- I normally don't drink coffee, but this was pretty good! For food, I ordered the pozole and my friends got the omelette rajas, chilaquiles, burritos, and a fruit plate. I'm glad we didn't have to wait too long for our entrees to arrive. My pozole looked divine! They gave me all the fixings and this dish was very rich and flavorful. The burritos came in 3's and looked more like rolled tacos made with flour tortillas. This place is awesome. They are mainly known for their breakfast and open at 07:30 am. For this weekend my group revisit this place. The experience was even better. We had great customer service and the food was delicious. I order the chilaqueles verde with a sunny side egg on top. Now you can have it with Queso Cotija, Queso Fresco and my best melted Queso Oaxaca. We also order Menudo Rojo, Spinish Omelettes, and a Desayuno Americano. This place will forever hold a special place in my heart. This was my dad's and my favorite restaurant. We'd have conversations over plenty cups of the café de olla. One time he stopped drinking the café because he was afraid he would be too full to enjoy one of our other favorite's, the Espadaña Omelette. Staff was always friendly and food was just as great. Recommended for their Chilaquiles and the FREE Cafe de olla they come around with frequently to fill your coffee cups with (glorious!). You can get the chilaquiles with a verdes, rojos, moles, or chipotle sauce and even opt to add huevos or shredded pollo for extra (like my Spanglish?). The chilaquiles verdes was muy perfecto for me considering I don't like too much heat with my meals. Very hardy breakfast, the way Mexicans do it! Muchos frijoles y papas! :) I also ordered dos tamales with my meal. I believe this was shredded chicken in a red sauce, and comes in a banana leaf. Beans are served on the side. Excellent! Very traditionally Mexican, but they also have omelettes, platos de huevos, and hot cakes if you want the familiar American stuff. This is the second time coming to La Espadańa and both times it has not let me down! I like their breakfast a lot! This time around I ordered their tampequeña, which has chilaquiles and a nice piece of steak on top of it. The steak was very tender and savory, the chilaquiles tasted so damn good! We love going for breakfast. It does get very full and that's the only downside. But definitely worth the wait.

Our visit is based on a Sunday: The parking was a bit full we had to wait 15 minutes for a space. Then we waited another 15 minutes in their patio to be seated. Waiting area outside is very cozy, it's a nice patio with a fountain. After being escorted to our table, We received the breakfast menu and it had plenty of options. I noticed that 50-75% of the menu items are served with beans and potatoes. I'm on a low carb diet so my choices were a few. I tried the Menudo and enjoyed it with brewed coffee(they call it (cafe americano) always refilled so thank you for that. Now that I recall, all of our food came out fast. As an appetizer, we had the "Queso Fundido" with "Rajas,Chorizo & Champiñones" it came with small warm flower tortillas, the kids love it and it was all gone before we knew it. For dessert you gotta try a slice of "Tres Leches" or the "Domo de Chocolate" Overall our dining experience was just right, nothing big just a relaxing breakfast, that's all. read more

I have to drop a star only because parking here is insane and it keeps me from enjoying their food even faster! I am in Tijuana about every other month and I am always looking for a brunch place to try. This last time in TJ I decided to try this place out and let me say I am a true fan. The wait was not that bad for me since I had to wait for parking but my mother went in to put our names down right when we got there. So by the time I found parking, it was time to sit. We get seated right by the window and their little garden giving us a great view. Our waiter comes and takes our drink orders. He is very polite and also brings us chips and salsa. The salsa here is very good. I ended up ordering the Talpiqueña plate that was the right amount of food. It left enough for desert and this is where I fell in love. We ordered the carrot cake and the chocolate ball thing and just wow. I could of easily just come here for coffee and desserts. Amazing place but the parking sucks. read more

Heard great things about this place& decided to walk across the street to try myself. I was told to try the Chilaquiles as one of their go-to menu item. They stop serving breakfast at 1pm, and I got seated about 10 after, &they still let me order off the breakfast menu. My wait time was about 5mins. I ordered the Chilaquiles with green sauce. Wish I should've tried the chipotle sauce though! I also had the cheese plate with green peppers, chorizo& mushrooms. They served me chips with red&green salsa also. The red sauce has a bit of a kick to it FYI! &I had the cafe de la olla (coffee w/cinnamon&brown sugar). That coffee was so good! Definitely more on the sweeter side though& the coffee wasn't too strong. But that's okay, it was more for dessert for me. Portion sizes were good, as I couldn't even finish anything. What a beautiful place, very beautifully built and decorated Spanish / Mexican style restaurant . I hate to say this but I had personally never even heard about this place , I had been driving down to the old Sam's club which is down and the street and stopped at the stop sign right in front of it and there were just a massive amount of cars in the parking lot and a huge line of people waiting to get in. I certainly thought that this place must be good, looked it up on Yelp and it had great reviews and so the very next day I made my way down here. The place was everything I didn't know it was, it was excellent, beautiful decor , excellent service , excellent food, very tasty and just good. I was craving lunch but they only had breakfast at the time, I ordered La Especial omelette which was covered in I don't know what but was all delicious , came with a side of potatoes and beans . We had the cafe de Olla which was just awesome , unlimited refills of this deliciousness , the service was impecable , very profesional, very fast , all the workers seem to be taken care of by management very well, there was a manager going around giving each and every one of them vitamins , so there's that . I will definitely be back and in fact have been back already, we came for dinner a couple of days later , I had the brocheta de rib eye and that thing alone was worth many trips back, the meat was so soft and tasty, I've never had a brocheta de carne that even came remotely close to this thing . I couldn't possibly finish this review without telling the world about the budín de pan, this is my absolute favorite desert now , this bread pudding a la Espadana style was just absolutely a top award winner for delicious deserts, it was warm, it was soft, it was sooooo good, you've got to try it, I need this thing in my life!
