This is a lesser known place with amazing food. I first found this place when staying at the adjacent Rio Suites hotel. I came here for a hearty breakfast, and boy I was not disappointed. I've had the huevos divorciados, which are eggs in green and red sauce, with grilled steak on top. The food was fire! Other plates I've ordered are the grilled steak with scrambled eggs and chilaquiles, a grilled steak plate with guac, rice, and beans, and grilled steak with green chilaquiles. My go to drinks are lemonade with mineral water and the cafe Americano. The food here is amazing, and it comes in generous portions. The staff here is decent, I've never had an issue here. No private lot & was a bit hard to find street parking. We happen to pull over in front & asked a security if the cars on the side were for this establishment in which he confirmed. Got out the car & he took it to park for us. Coming into the restaurant, we stood at the door for a few seconds without being greeted or directed where to sit. Finally they told us to sit wherever we please. Sat down, looked over the menu, decided what we wanted. They brought out a complimentary plate of frijoles, chicarrón, chips, & salsa. My son tore up the frijoles & was eating spoonfuls of salsa. Which had a bit of a kick to it, a good kick though! The chicharrón was 10/10. Definitely an appetizer I would order on its own. We already knew what we wanted & was waiting on a server to take our order. Which took a bit. It's like they have one server for everyone based on how long we're waiting in between, but they actually don't. Lol. Inside was had a little old school/Old Town typa vibes. My son ordered a kids hamburger meal which came with fries. My husband ordered the machaca plate w/ chilaquiles rojos that included chicharron, arroz y frijoles. I ordered the tres enchilada d pollo in salsa rojo w/ crema d elote which also included arroz y frijoles. My son's burger was hot & fresh off the grill, steaming. I tried his burger & it was bomb. I didn't get to try my husband's plate so can't comment on his. My enchiladas were mediocre at best. Probably wouldn't order it again if I'm being honest. Wasn't a huge fan of them. Aren't things supposed to taste more delicious when you're starving? This was the first meal of the day for us. & I couldn't even finish it because I wasn't a fan of it. Especially being it tasted like dark meat chicken. The crema d elote was ok. It was creamy & had a hint of corn flavor. Haven't had much corn soups in my lifetime to compare it to others. Portion sizes were huge! We paid $39 for everything which included a natural limonada, agua fresa, & a soda. This restaurant reminds me of another establishment in Tj called Restaurante Mexicano. Coming from Virginia, where there isn't much good Mexican food, I couldn't resist trying a Tijuana restaurant. The results were good, overall. I had a Wednesday breakfast special with three cheese enchiladas in mole sauce, a scrambled egg, breakfast potatoes, rice, beans, and a side-order pancake. The enchiladas were good, although the sauce was a tad sweet. The pancake was delicious. The beans were better than average, and the rest was all good. Price was reasonable. Service was pleasant, although English is problematic. Food was cooked promptly. Complimentary chips were nothing special, and the salsa was a bit too hot for my taste. read more

When we arrived we were greeted and our temperature was taken. We were told we could sit wherever we'd like. Once seated a sever went to our table greeted us and took us a basket with sweet bread. I ordered a hot chocolate (chocolate abuelita) and my husband had a cafe de oya. It smelled and tasted amazing. Our breakfast arrived shortly it was fresh and flavorful. This restaurant has great food. The food tastes so homemade and it just delicious. We ordered tacos de papa dorados delicious, puerco en salsa verde and it was so good. The pork was tender and the sauce was so good it came with nopales and that gave it a Greta flavor. We ordered lengua con mole and that was good. Pollo claudio por my son and he was so happy with that. The chicken pieces were big and it came with spaghetti and fries. We all got sopas de enterada and they were all delicious from the sopa de fideos, crema de elote y las lentejas it was all so good.. will definitely go back and try other plates. We stayed for a month next door to this hidden gem in Zona Urbana Rio and by far the best Mexican food i've had. We tried so many other places in Tijuana and nothing comes remotely close to Fonda La Finca's authenticity. First things first: Wifi - fonda la finca Password - Buenprovecho1 Service here is Excellent. They pay attention to their patrons and go the extra mile to make sure your tummy is happy by the time you leave. Chips and condiment tray are served as soon as you are seated and the salsa is damn good with a fantastic kick to it. We had several meals here and loved everything we ordered. Herez what swept me off my feet: They Had me at Champurrado - Stopped by several times just for this winter goodness which they serve in earthen mugs. Hot Chocolate - this yummy godliness served in earthen mug with cinnamon sticks is the Best hot chocolate I've Ever had. I'm NOT exaggerating because being a hot-chocolate-junkie, I know a good hot chocolate when I see it and this is nothing like I've ever had before. Rib Eye Steak - yet another favorite I had Twice, SEVEN US dollars for a melt-in-the-mouth piece of steak. Its a crime to leave Tijuana without eating this one here. Red Tamales - These are only served during winter and do not miss this one. Red Rice: O.M.G!! This is by far the BESTEST of the Best rice I've had. I thought I knew most things I could expect to see in a Mexican restaurant. But not here. I managed to read the descriptions in Spanish and found something I wanted to order. They bring out some pan de dulce. You touch it, you pay for it. It's inexpensive and it is nice. I speak just enough Spanish to order food and navigate in Mexico, but I learnt that I should have put some effort into small talk. The wait staff don't speak English so if you need to get their recommendations you better speak Spanish. El lugar está en la zona río y tienen una gran variedad de platillos mexicanos. El lugar tiene unas 12 mesas para 4 personas c/u y unas 4 mesas en el patio. Mi esposo y yo decidimos comer ahí porque pasamos por el lugar y tienen anunciando " Costillas al Pipian y Crema de Elote" y eso nos atrajo al lugar. Cuando pedimos recomendación del platillo más popular, la mesera nos sugirió la "parrillada" más de $ 500 pesos, ( platillo más costoso del menú ) lo que no nos apeteció. Decidimos ordenar, mi esposo Rib Eye 200gr y nos cargaron el de 350g $325 pesos, para mi Chile relleno $190 pesos. La comida fue promedio nada en especial, el servicio muy pobre, en lo que respecta a la persona que nos atendió, no tenía entusiasmo, conocimiento, carisma o simpatía por servir, pero si por vender, cobró más de lo que debía. I wasn't expecting a perfectly seasoned and cooked steak but it was also they give you hand made tortillas plus A-1 steak sauce for your steak (mine was new unopened). I was here for breakfast because it was close to where I was staying, so I decided to come back for dinner. They do not disappoint! Breakfast was more than I could even begin to eat with a bistec, beans, chillequilles, corn tortillas and scrambled eggs. Also it came with all the fixings. Salsas and a sweet breads basket!! Top notch. For dinner I had a chicken quesadilla (which is not on the menu, but the happily made one). All fresh prepared all great flavor. The meats were grilled on a parilla!! Didn't like the food much, I ordered the costillas de res en salsa roja and got mostly fat and nerve, not much meat. My husband ordered desayuno Zacatecano and asked for steak well done and was given almost rare on some parts of steak. My son ordered the ommelette and was full of fat from bacon not much actual bacon. Also ordered a kids breakfast. We literally had to ask for tortillas every 2 minutes because after ordering 4 plates we only got 3 tortillas at the table, which is kind of ridiculous, you have 4 people eating and you only give 3 tortillas? Not good. There's many places in Tijuana with good food and they are not stingy with the tortillas so I will definitely not be returning to this place. read more
