Been at least 18 years since I've been here. The place and food is as I remember delicious. We had a party of 5 adults. We ordered the biggest meal they had for 5-6 people and an extra 1/2 kilo of Asada on the side. They bring out rice and beans with flour and corn tortillas. Let me tell you we still had plenty of left overs to take. Service was friendly great customer service. They would bring our extra drinks very quickly. Should've listen to the reviews and came here first because everything was so good starting with the chips and fire salsa the offer. I got the chilaquiles with both salsas and don't know which one I liked better. The green is tangy and the red is smooth no heat. I added a bit of the house salsa and it was perfect. This is a family favorite of ours. Anytime we go down to Rosarito we eat here at least 2-3 times. They have a large variety of food they offer including breakfast. They are so friendly and hardworking and you can taste the love in the food. We love how fresh the carnitas, as that is what they are known for! This used to be our absolute "go to" for carnitas. My husband has been coming here over 50 years and for me the 6 that I've known about it. Two weeks ago on Friday about 4 pm we brought an out of town guest and promised him it would not disappoint. Boy we're we wrong! We ordered the carnitas platter for 3 and received a pile of soft, greasy pork skin that looked so unappetizing and had a few bits and pieces of meat and gristle in it. Certainly was not the carnitas we normally receive here. Tortillas were cold and tasted old. We couldn't really even pick around so we are the rice and beans and apologized profusely to our friend. Today we went back about 12:30 pm and ordered carnitas tacos, just to see if we'd hit it on an off day. Nope. The meat was better quality and texture but was cold and tasteless. Tortillas again cold. We are so sad and curious as to what's happened. Not really sure if we'll ever go back and definitely won't take company there again. Please improve things again. You had a great thing going. I ordered the egg white vegetarian omelette. The omelette had a lot of vegetables inside, broccoli, nopales, mushrooms to name a few. I would have like the eggs to be less cooked as they were a not crunchy for my taste. They topped the omelette with a red sauce which was a tomato paste, not hot. To me it was more of a presentation than taste. The plate was accompanied with a small bowl of purée beans, a bit runny but had a bit of flavor. As another side, they give French fries which I was not expecting when I read papas as the side. They offer bread, hand made flour or corn tortillas, I chose the flour tortillas, they were good but not buttery enough for my liking. The other breakfast plate was a machaca con huevos plate. From the looks of it, it was nothing to write home about. The one thing I can say is that they are a carnitas location and I didn't order any carnitas so I cannot comment on that. I liked their coffee as well, it's not "café de la olla" but they do use cinnamon to give it the Mexican coffee flavor. read more

Great little spot we came across Yelp while searching for a breakfast place during our weekend in Rosarito. Glad we tried it and will definitely be back! Service was great and the place is clean, plus they offer good variety of options for breakfast including your traditional "gringo" options such as oatmeal, pancakes and bacon & eggs. Was pleasantly surprised that their orange juice was fresh squeezed (never would have expected that) and was pretty darn good. We had the chilaquiles (requested with chicken and they were happy to oblige) and huevos con nopales and were happy with both. One tip though, when you order the chilaquiles they'll ask if you want your eggs separate (on the side)-- this completely threw me off but I told them to mix everything together because that's how I know chilaquiles to be prepared-- and glad I did! They were delish. Since they claim to be a carnitas place, we decided to order a small side of carnitas for tacos and although the flavor was decent, they were pretty dry. A little disappointing, but maybe it was just a bad batch? Who knows. Either way, the place was busy and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. I was impressed with the variety of clientele, from locals to American tourists to young college kids getting their hangover cure.
