I scheduled an appointment because I wasn't sure how busy this salon would be on Saturday afternoon. I walked in promptly and it was empty (perhaps the first sign of poor quality). They put me in a chair then proceeded to ignore me for about ten minutes. I finally got up to ask if I should come back later in the afternoon and they seemed to get the hint. The manicurist skipped several basic steps, including trimming my cuticles. I politely requested this and she informed me it was an extra five dollars. Moreso, she said this was standard in Seattle salons. I sort of doubt this because I've never EVER paid extra to have my cuticles trimmed when I'm paying $35 for a gel fill. I basically had to guide her through the rest of the process, including shaping and buffing. She clearly wasn't happy that I asked her for these simple tasks because she proceeded to rush through the Shellac polish. It was $40 for a service I'd never recommend to anyone. I've been getting my nails done every few weeks for about the past two years, and this was by far the worst I've ever experienced. Heed my warning and head to one of the other salons in the area. BTW, a lot of other women mentioned Vivienne as a good manicurist. I requested her and they informed me she's no longer at the salon. read more

My intuition told me not to go here, but it was the only salon open due to weather conditions. I'm writing this in hopes that they will read this, and maybe pay attention more to better customer service. I had an appointment, but still had to wait 10 or 15 minutes. I wasn't too bothered by that, but when a woman came by and smacks me in the forehead for no apparent reasons and tells me she will be right with me, I was pretty uncomfortable. She did it in a joking way, I guess? She started doing my nails, and then I got another "duh" tap to the forehead by this woman. Again, very out of nowhere. I notice she's doing my nails very very very fast, and looking up often to check out the room. I was getting a gel fill, and their are tools involved that could be quite dangerous if you don't pay attention to what you are doing. She nicked me a couple times, and I mentioned to her that she's going very fast (also not looking.) She trimmed by nails down way too short, and shaped them horribly. I had to have her reshape them, and it was still really weird looking. The thumb nails are too different shapes. She didn't check to see if each nail was even with the other hand. They turned out to be bumpy and uneven on the surface. Honestly, I just wanted to get out of there, so I didn't even get a color on my nails. It ended up costing $25 for gel fill with no color. Which is more expensive than other salons in the area. Needless to say, I will not be returning. If I could give "LA Nails" some advice. Your shaping of the nails is very outdated. There are new trendy nail shapes these days. What you gave me was not complimentary to my narrow nail beds. Oh! And don't hit your clients in the head! Sheesh read more

Walked in with my nails looking gnarly, walked out 20 min later with one of the best mani's I've ever had! I got there like 15 min before closing, and they had other customers, STILL were super sweet and sat me down right away. I showed Mai a photo of what I wanted and she did an amazing job. Don't waste your time. My nails look horrible. I paid $50. I had acrylics, and wanted to get shellac on my real nails. The lady (I believe she is the boss) broke my real nail, and then used acrylic powder to "repair" it. Also as she was doing my nails she randomly tugged on my hair to see if my hair is real (I have natural curly hair). Then asked me if my hair was real as she laughed. So disrespectful. As I was there none of the workers focused on one customer, they all were doing 10 things at once, it was such a bad customer service experience. Never again. read more

I was a walk-in and only waited about ten minutes before they started on me, despite the fact that there were four customers total and three ladies working. I was in and out in 45 minutes which is awesome for a walk-in. Once they started my service there was almost no waiting between steps. The first person set me up to have my existing shellack removed; the second person did my manicure and new shellack polish; and the third did my shoulder and hand massage. I think this was just because of where each of them were in their schedules with other customers, and I found it very efficient. There was no separate charge for removing my existing shellack, which was a nice surprise. The lady who did my manicure was very attentive to my overgrown cuticles. The women receiving pedicures while I was there seemed to really enjoy them, so next time I go I plan to set aside more time to get a pedicure myself. read more

I love this place. It's right by my school, and they always do an amazing job! My manicures always last, and if I screw up a nail or something within a few days, they'll always fix it up for free. The only problem I've had is with the brow waxing, which they tend to make a bit too thin. I've never been unhappy, though, so I fully reccommend this salon! The location is convenient and a good place to be, but be careful after dark. It's not the best area to be by yourself when the sun's down. read more

I am a shellac fanatic. This place gave me the worst shellac in years. Usually as a bartender I can make my nails last 4-5 weeks, this set lasted barely lasted a week before chipping along the edges. I stepped out of my comfort zone as far as a place & a color was concerned so that's on me, but brush strokes as I leave & cracking 5 days later come on. Very few things piss me off more than janky nails. And then the lady insulted me, but that's a different tangent. Shitty nails piss me off more than shitty service. read more

I never put reviews on Yelp but I feel compelled after my experience today at LA Nails on Capital Hill. First of all I had to wait a half hour for my appointment. Secondly it was painful and my big toenail was bleeding It was the fastest pedi I've ever had, 20 minutes for $25. But most of all there was an elderly woman there who had asked for a cab. A half hour later she was still there waiting. When she asked for help the girl was RUDE and was very put out that she had to call for the cab service. Appalling customer service and very poor quality. Go elsewhere. read more

I had a pedicure and left with a bloody, bandaged foot! The "technician" was flying through the service - even tho I was the only one there -- like they had a rush? And when she cut the bottom of my foot with the callous peeler - she tried to pretend it didn't happen! (I've got nerve endings, which communicate to my central nervous system...) So - I looked at the source of the pain, and there it was - a good slice in my heel in all it's bloody glory. The "manager" came over and explained that "dry skin sometimes gets cut" WTF! Isn't this what a pedicure is for?? And - does this mean that - oops, sometimes we hack off some skin 'cause YOU, ms /mr customer have callouses.... PLUS - they charged me -- AND expected a tip. woof. Terrible, terrible. Save your $$ and your time AND your recovery --- go someplace else. My concern now is how sterile were their instruments? Eh, don't waste your money here. Services are EXPENSIVE ($15 for a plain mani, $25 for pedi) and you can easily find another salon closer who will do better work for less money. My nail polish is uneven and bumpy (AFTER leaving a 33% tip). My cuticles were painted over instead of pushed back. The skin that was cut back was pulled instead of clipped, which hurt. My manicurist seemed to be in a huge hurry even though I was one of 2 people in the whole place. We'll see how the top coat holds up, but the bottle looked like it came from the Dollar Store. Good quality & very quick. I have been coming here for shellac manicures, and while the procedure is not very elaborate, the nails come out looking great (and my nails are short and difficult to deal with). The place is very clean, and at the beginning of a manicure you see the manicure instruments come in sterilized. The ladies working there are all very nice and make you feel welcome. Overall, I definitely would recommend over all the other places of similar price range that I have visited in Seattle. read more

Went in to have a broken nail fixed. They charged me $7. Ridiculous. Most salons charge $2-$4 to fix a nail. Mind you, she didn't even put on a new tip. She just used acrylic and then proceeded to do a half-assed job at filing it into shape. So what exactly was that expensive charge for? Because it obviously wasn't for quality work. Also, the shape was way off, but I was in a hurry to get to an event so I just left. Additionally, the nail tech I had was incredibly short with me the whole time. Honestly, I wouldn't go back there to get my dog's nails painted. I'm new to the neighborhood and was looking for a new nail salon. Congrats to them on their failed audition. read more

Since moving to capitol hill roughly over a year ago, I've been to half a dozen nail salons yet somehow had never been in to this spot. It was a lazy saturday, they looked dead and on a whim I stopped in. Quickly serviced with the best mani/pedi I've had since living in seattle. it's not fancy by any stretch but the instruments are sterile, the spa pedi to die for and my nails look amazing! definitely calling this my new go-to spot. read more

I get gel nails done here. The owner who does the fake nails is very precisely and they always look great. Her English is limited but she really makes and effort to converse with you. She also treats you like one of her closest and oldest friends when you walk in the store. The salon itself is very clean, all the equipment looks new, and everyone is very nice. All the bottles they use are marked, and everything is always neat and orderly. Unfortunately the tech is quick and not very gentle. She will constructively tell you that you need other work done like your eyebrows and your toes. They are always really busy with pedicures and manicures, so i assume that this is a good place for natural nail care. I probably won't go back because this last fill has left my nails sore and she used the dremmel a bit too heavily. Even after me telling her multiple times that she was hurting me, she didn't ease up. She said gel nails are harder to fill and take more drilling, but i have heard otherwise. I also don't think they clean their tools(like clippers and files) in between customers because they are such a high volume place. The lady that clipped my cuticles used a previously used clipper which freaked me out. I asked her if they clean their stuff and she said yes, but she didn't elaborate on how often throughout the day- and frankly if i had asked in more detail she probably would have gotten lost in translation and said yes anyway. The prices also very, sometimes it will be more than what is listed on the wall for whatever reason, which seems a bit shady. I probably won't go back to this place again unless it's for a pedicure. read more

I got tired of good manicures and mediocre customer service there, so now I go here for good manicures and friendly customer service. I am a semi-regular customer at LA Nails on Pike Street. It's a great place for a quality, low priced mani/pedi. They are nice, friendly, and the shop is clean. I'm almost always satisfied with my nails when I leave. I think the only time I wasn't was because the polish was old and didn't dry right. They recently remodeled and updated the shop, which I think means business is good! read more

When it came time to pay Henry didnt know what the three of us had done. He then spit out that it would cost $65 a person. I walk in and ask for an upper lip wax. First I thought the woman was nice because she asked me how my day was going and complimented my hair. I lay down and she gets the wax ready. She dips a stick into it then blows on the wax to cool it off... TOTALLY unsanitary! She does one side and moves onto the next side. I see she gets a little more wax than last time and I feel it glob down onto my lip.. she steps away and puts on the fabric (already too late to say something) and yanks it off. Along with a bit of my lip. It hurt so bad!! She says, "your lip is bleeding? When did that happen?" I tell her she did it and she didn't believe me at first. She apologized but didn't take money off my total. I only had a card and apparently you need to spend at least $9 to use a card. My total was $8... Unbelievable. Never going there again. read more

I've gone here 2 times now, once for gel and once for manicure. These ladies are so nice and detailed! Each time my nails came out perfect :) no infections or whatnot that other people reported. They used sanitized tools and rubbing alcohol when they did my nails. I'm also very thankful that they let me come in right before they closed and stayed a bit extra to wait for my nails to dry. I am not a high-maintenance chick in the least, but even I thought La Nails was sub-par. I went in during non-rush times for a mani-pedi. I don't know what everyone says about the price being good. For way less I could've gone to the place on Broadway. They cut my nails waaaay too short after I asked them not to, did a terrible job with my manicure; the woman could not be bothered waiting for the layers to dry so it looks streaky. I have been in 5 times for a full almond nail set, and each time it has been absolutely fabulous. There are no bubbles in the acrylic, it has been perfectly smooth, and the nail tech took really great care of my cuticles at the same time. The spot for mani/pedi! I've been living right next to this place for the past two years and have grown so attached to it. The ladies here are so sweet and genuinely helpful - I always feel well taken care of when I visit. The space is clean and the staff are very good at what they do. I have thin, pliable fingernails so my manicures usually chip about 12 minutes after drying, but Vivian's polish changes will last for an entire week without chipping.
