I asked over the phone if they could soak off my gel polish vs drill it off as I have had some trauma to my nail beds and am trying to rebuild and strengthen my nails. They said yes! Got to our appointment and verified at the desk, where they said no, they could not soak off. I asked why, to which they said they only drill off the color (I had a couple of old designs on a clear polish background), and they'd never let the drill touch my nail bed. I was hesitant but agreed. I had a mani/pedi. The woman doing my toes filed off the first layer of old gel and soaked off the rest. Yes! Exactly what I wanted! Then the mani came (at the same time) and I shared with her again that I've had nail trauma and would like to soak off. She said they can't do that. I looked at my feet, seeing them in fact doing just that. She promises she won't drill my nail beds. Well, she did, of course. And she cut four of my fingers doing cuticle work. My nails are thin, in pain, and bleeding. Not sure why they could soak off my toes but not my hands considering they were the exact same kind of gel. Today was my first time here and I would come back. The salon was clean and spacious with a relaxed atmosphere. They have large selection of regular and gel polish colors. My technician today was Vicky. We didn't talk beyond the normal giving her my colors and inspo photos, but she seemed nice and my nails came out how I wanted. I won't take off a star for their lack of parking since they're in Capitol Hill and that's to be expected. I'm pretty basic with my nails so I love that they have numerous gel colors and many glitter gel colors too! One of my new favorite nail salons in the Cap Hill area -- I called early on the day-of to get an appointment and it was fairly busy when I arrived, so highly recommend doing the same. The salon is a large space and every technician was working, so that should give you an idea of how popular it is! The nail techs are VERY meticulous and the work they do is solid -- I came in with a few broken and chipped nails and they were able to neatly shape a set of short nails for me and work to hide that! Even 2-3 weeks later, there's been virtually no chipping whatsoever. I love their color selections, too. They definitely charge a premium, but I honestly think it's worth it -- it's a bit on the pricier side, so I didn't mind splurging since I don't get my nails done often. I got a manicure here four days ago. Three days ago the polish started chipping off. Assuming they'd reapply the polish, I went in to the salon and explained what had happened. The woman at the front desk said that 4 days was about how long polish usually lasted after a manicure. I've been getting manicures for over 50 years and never has polish only lasted four days. This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had and I will never be going back. Nor will I be recommending this place of business to anyone! Over the past year, I have spent $100s on spa pedicures. It's a guilty pleasure - but also as a diabetic - taking care of my feet is improbable. Each time I have had polish and it lasts for sometimes as long as 4 weeks. I've been so happy. However four days ago, I opted for a mani / pedi combo and had clear polish on my nails. The polish is literally peeling off my nails and when I called them to complain, they gave me an email address to send photos. Email bounced back. So I called to make sure that I had the right email and the receptionist said "Since you called, I talked with my manager about your situation and there is nothing we can do because it's been so long." They hadnt seen the photos and continued to suggest that I wasn't telling the truth because even the receptionist gets polish on his nails "and it lasts for weeks." When I agreed that I had the same experience with my toes and that there must have been something bad with this polish, he basically said there was nothing wrong with their product and I didnt have to come back to them if I didnt want. For the last three appointments I've brought friends who also spent a lot of money. But no more! Don't go if you expect the company to stand behind their work!! read more

No matter what I say, they do my eyebrows like tadpoles. I ask for arches. I bring pictures. They don't do any spacing with a pencil, they don't step back to look at their work. They cut my brows with scissors wtf. After waxing I still have hair. They never help with shoes after a pedicure. The type of massage you'll get varies by technician, as does the numberof coats they put on. Way too expensive. I keep going here because it's convenient but ugh. Some of the technicians are wonderful but others not so much. It's good to find a person or two that you like and try to schedule your appointments with them. Otherwise you might get stuck with someone who's not friendly and rushes through what should be a 45 minute appointment. I've been to Apollo Nails about 4 times now. Each time before this one my gel nails came out amazing. They lasted sooo long to the point that I was walking around with 1.5 month old gel on my toes. Normally realllly good front desk, Manicurists, and pedicurists. But when my friends and I went in for mani pedis yesterday (March 5) there was a world wind of rudeness and confusion. We wanted 2 shellac mani pedis, 1 shellac pedi, and 1 mani pedi paint change. But they were confused on their side of who was getting what service even though we made it explicitly clear. Now Mimi and Kelly worked on my mani pedi and though my service took the longest of the group, they were so kind of thorough with everything. Even gave great massages. I thought I was so happy with the service until i got home and realized there were BUBBLES and on almost every finger! Come (March 6) i called and asked if i was able to come in for a touch up appointment. That i was just there yesterday and I had air bubbles. The front desk was super kind and i got an appointment at 4. I came in sat down. Explained my situation and my assigned manicurist looked at one finger and said no it's fine. I'm not usually someone who would go back and ask for a redo on anything because my confidence levels are NONEXISTENT when it comes to that. But because I paid $100 plus tip just the day before i knew i needed to say something more than just "oh okay". So i asked her to look at the other fingers and she agreed to take off the top coats and add another layer. When she took off the top coat you can so clearly see the air bubble more definitely and she then apologized for me having to come in again. I didn't get her name but she was so very thoughtful about the nail polish getting on my cuticles and she even evened out some of my nails again. I wasn't charged a touch up fee which was nice (thank you!!). But again getting into the car i notice the air bubbles forming once again but this time instead of them being dark they're more translucent. I have a big sigh and just drove away. I'm hoping when i get back from vacation. I can try the Apollo nails in Queen Anne and see if their nail polish is any better. Update: went to Mexico for 5 days. My nails picked up every color dye. They ended up brown 2 days into my trip. Taking close up pictures was a no go for this trip / foodie pictures. read more

Apollo Nails in Capitol Hill has been my favorite nail salon for several years. I get gel manicures every 2-3 weeks and gel pedicures about once a month. I generally need to get my nails done due to grow out, the gel itself usually looks great for weeks - no chips, etc. I have experienced consistency between the nail techs skill level - precise and detail oriented, regardless of who is doing your nails. The salon is diligent with their scheduling, I have seen them turn away walk-ins if they are too busy to accommodate, which I appreciate because I have been to other salons that take too many walk-ins to the point that it impacts scheduled appointments. The employees are nice, the salon appears clean, and every time I get my nails done anywhere else, it reminds me how much I prefer Apollo! I do wish Apollo would expand their color selection for gel, not sure how it compares to other salons but feels like there could be a larger selection to choose from. read more

I've been coming to this nail salon since 2018 and have recommended to anyone who asks, but the last two visits have been mid. Last time, someone trimmed my cuticle so short I was bleeding for about 10 minutes in the chair. They also left 4 times in the middle of the service to take care of personal business. This time, the paint on my toes is so chunky. There is paint under and around my nails. They waited until after they had painted all of my nails with three coats of gel before asking if I liked the color, which I found hilarious. What if I had said no? The water was either scalding hot or ice cold. A massage from a feather duster would have been more effective. Half of the furniture is peeling or cracked or does not function as intended. TL;DR: The quality of the service and the atmosphere has gone down; the prices have gone up. It's very disappointing since it was my favorite place to visit each month. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would... I received a less than satisfactory pedicure (my nails were cut all crooked, they GAVE/caused ME to have an INGROWN TOENAIL, and they rubbed my feet/toes raw to the point where they were painful and oozing in three places on my toes when I left there). On top of this they charged me $44 and I didn't even get them painted!!!! I'm not sure if I received this treatment because I was a walk-in or because I'm a guy... or some combination thereof... but regardless, this is unacceptable! And I know because I go in for pedicures on a very regular basis and have for the last 8+ years... I usually go to NK Nails & Spa in West Seattle, cause I used to live over there, and they do an amazing job every time, no matter who the technician is! And if this wasn't enough!!! I wrote them TWO very kind emails about how upset I was about their services and received ZERO in the way of responses of any kind... I was hoping to be reimbursed either fully (ideally) or at least partially, or at the very, very least to be ACKNOWLEDGED!! I mean, WTAF??? I tried with email first, because I HATE writing bad reviews for businesses (in fact I don't think that I have ever even written one before)... I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them the chance to make it right before I put them on blast... but I am pissed off now! It is absolutely unacceptable to ignore a paying customer... especially a polite one that treated you all with kindness... Updating my review after a super bizarre experience at Apollo today. When I lived in Seattle, I used to get my nails done at Apollo weekly. Since moving to the Eastside, I make it in every 3-4 weeks. Today's experience was an anomaly, but here's what went down: I arrived on time for my 11:30 appointment. A nail tech named Tori came to get me about ten minutes later. No big deal - usually, even with removal, this is a 50 minute service - maybe sometimes an hour. This experience was weird right off the bat. I was led to a spot that was literally right next to someone else who was getting a manicure. The salon was pretty empty, so it seemed weird to not have a little space. Apollo is normally good about that. It quickly became apparent why I was seated where I was: Tori and a coworker wanted to talk to each other. And they did, nonstop. Tori barely filed my nails before putting them in acetone packets. That's unusual for shellac removal. Then she told me she'd come back in 5 minutes. She came back almost ten minutes later. When she asked what color I wanted, I told her something like Bubble Bath and suggested color 3. Immediately, she and her coworker started laughing and giving me strange looks. Whatever. Upon returning, Tori proceeded to roughly remove my shellac while chatting with her coworker. She filed really hard and in a position that kept filing directly on my fingers. It was almost like she forgot there was a human on the other end. Then, she started in on my cuticles. She accidentally stabbed me with the tip of the cuticle scissors. I pulled my hand back and she apologized. Two fingers later, and she did it again. By this point, I was fed up. She clearly wasn't paying attention. I stopped her because I wasn't willing to subject myself to more jabbing and stabbing. I asked the ladies at the front desk to please find someone else to do my nails, and I explained why. The woman at the front desk was actually kind of snotty about it, which I found strange and not Apollo-like. They found someone to finish my nails who was amazing - totally like the experience that I am used to having at Apollo. It was weird, though - she asked me if it was okay to cut my cuticles. I said of course - and she proceeded to do a great job. She later asked me if I had sensitive nails. Apparently, it was my fault that I hadn't been happy with being jabbed by Tori. My shellac manicure with removal was complete almost two hours after it started - and there was not a wait time in between nail techs. The first one had just been *that* slow. I never complain when I get my nails done at Apollo - because there's usually nothing to complain about. Today's experience just left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not sure I'll be back. read more

I got easter colors for this season and Donna (if I remember her name correctly) did an excellent job I appreciate mucho!!!! I was jumping with joy after my appointment showing off my nails to everybody. I pulled an Elle Woods by speaking up and making sure I directed how I wanted the shape of my nails to look like Vs how I did not want them from previous traumatic experiences . Lol. Just went into this place to get a full Brazilian about 2 weeks ago and they charged me $50 for underarms and Biki bc they mentioned that they couldn't fully wax me because my hair wasn't grown out all the way. I go in there today and their trying to charge me $70 when they did half the work the last time. They told me the next time I come in that they wouldn't charge me for a full Brazilian. We had a full discussion about how they should only charge me $55 bc they did it half way already and they said no. First they said $65 then they said $70 to bump it up literally in the same discussion. They don't appreciate their customers and will just try to get more money out of you because. Rudest front desk staff you'll find in the city of seattle the manager would be wise to fire them both. They treat regular customers like they're rubbish when their technicians are responsible for damaged and unlasting manicure and pedicure. I spend $100+ with this salon 2-3x monthly ($200-300/mo.) and I will under no circumstances return with the childish behavior of their front desk staff. I hope you go out of business from the reviews I'll continue to leave after this experience. Gossiping about customers, speaking horribly of your patrons when they're regulars. It's never something anyone should have to tolerate when paying for a service. If you'd like a manicure to look the way mine does after 2 days in the photo and a staff that behaves horrible with no ability to serve the customer.... You'll come here. Okay this is my first place going here but WOW! I'm probably the most picky about my nails I hate when there's gel on my cuticles or when it bubbles up in certain spots. Nice clean crisp lines on cuticles. And I always get a light pale pink color which is difficult to paint. But my experience here was so great! I made an appointment online for a shellac mani and pedi with no preference on the technician. I got paired with Julie and she was FANTASTIC! I've never been to a nail salon where they took their time and really didn't rush through it. I noticed that with everyone as well. Everyone was taking their time to make it perfect and it's so nice to not feel so rushed. I'm Vietnamese myself, so I can understand what they are saying to each other but for someone that doesn't know the language you don't have to worry about them chatting too much to each other or thinking they are talking about you, they really didn't chit chat that much They don't have that many choices for gel colors. They have a few books but all of them are the same choices. I wish they had more and maybe more brands! I really wanted a neon hot pink color but they didn't have that. I would say the gel selection is the only downside. The pedi was so amazing they use this wonderful scrub and also a mask at the end. I'm super ticklish but somehow I was able to bear the scrubbing! I went at 3pm on a Monday and it was packed. I recommend making an appointment. They do charge for shellac removal which I'm not used to, but it's not a big bother to me.
