Made an appointment last week for pedicures with a friend today. We arrived promptly at appointment time. They were busy helping other customers, so there was only one nail technician free out of three, and so I got my pedicure while my friend waited in chair. My entire pedi took under 15 minutes, cuticles were hardly removed (which is my fav part because I feel like my cuticles are heavy/thick), she spent maybe 30 seconds filing/removing cuticles on each foot. Maybe 20-30 seconds max exfoliating fest/legs. This is far and away the quickest, most rushed, and least enjoyable pedicure I've ever had- by a long shot. I rarely get time to myself to enjoy a pedicure so I was pretty let down by the lackluster service. After my pedicure was done the nail technician who rushed my pedi went on to help a walk-in regular who came in after we were seated in chairs- while making my friend wait even longer for her pedicure. What's even the point of making an appointment if there won't be anyone to help you? Furthermore upon inspection I see the polish was sloppily applied, missing the edges on many toes by a lot. See pics. Not happy with the service or outcome of this pedicure. Definitely feel ripped off. I tend to make the drive south to Day Nails in White Center because they do such a thorough awesome job, have cheerful awesome dispositions and it seems like a great working atmosphere in the shop, a far cry from this spot which is close to my home. I came in here while my car was being serviced and I had never tried this place before. At first, this place doesn't have any curb appeal... but I'm usually more concerned about the nail techs than the decor. I was immediately seated for my fill and I noticed one other lady getting her nails done. Throughout the course of my session, several women came in that the staff knew by name and greeted. They really showed how much they took interest in their customers. In addition, my nail tech was precise with my fill. I also gave her a generic color idea (light pink) and she picked out the perfect shade for me. She really paid attention to the details, refined my nail shape and even finished off with cuticle oil (which most places I have to ask for). I love my nails! read more

On Saturday June 15, I went to this salon for a shellac manicure. It was my first time at this salon. I went in the morning. By evening, the shellac polish on my right thumb was totally gone. It had fallen clean off. By Sunday morning, the polish on two more fingernails had fallen off. So, in less than 24 hours, polish from 3 of my nails had fallen off. On Sunday afternoon, I went back to the shop to get them to fix it, but they were closed. As the week progressed, polish came off SIX of my fingernails. I am not new to shellac manicures. They're usually great and look good for up to two weeks. So today I went back, a week later, to have them fix it. The manicurist, who was the same one who did the poor work in the first place, told me that it would be a $20 for the color change. I told her that it should be free because it started coming off the same day it went on, that I didn't get what I paid for. (Even a regular manicure would've lasted longer than one day!) She and the owner treated me like shit and implied that I was making it up because a week had passed, because I didn't go back sooner. I explained that I went on Sunday, but they were closed. The owner said I should've come on Monday, and I told her that I work, and I don't have time to get my nails done during the week. Then they went silent and acted like I was invisible. Basically I had to give them $20 (on top of the $25 + tip I paid the previous week) to fix a crappy manicure or I could go. I wasn't going to give them more money, so I left. I thought that it would go differently, that they'd care about their reputation and customer experience and want to make it right. As I said to the owner, I didn't go to Yelp to complain. I went to talk to them like people. And then they treated me like some scammer. POOR SERVICE. BAD ATTITUDE. DIRTY BATHROOM. DON'T GO HERE. read more

Bait and switch. I went in for a $27 pedicure. She gave me 60+ colors to choose from while my feet were soaking. When I was ready to pay, the bill was $40. I pointed out her error and she said it was correct because I chose the Gel nail polish. WHAT? I told her I wasn't told it would be more, she didn't care. The owner/manager overheard the conversation and knew I was not happy about the bait and switch, but did nothing. As I paid my bill I said "you really owe it to your clients to let them know of the additional cost." It's not a huge deal but enough to make me switch nail salons. I felt taken advantage of. I went in for a full set mani and spa pedi, and I could not be happier with the results and great customer service! It's a family-owned nail salon and I was helped by all three nail techs in the shop - the owner (I forgot her name!), TN and Tony. Each one has their own strengths and work together to deliver the best service and results to you. The owner started with a spa pedi, and when I told her what I wanted on my hands, she recommended a better polish to go on my toes to match. If you're indecisive like me, advice like this is always welcome and I'm glad she spoke up! Next, Tony took care of me and handled my full set acrylics. The resulting talons received compliments all weekend, and a good week later the polish and shine on the suckers still look great. I came here on Christmas eve to get my nails done for the holiday. Service was excellent. The technician that did my nails was very thorough. I wanted to get gel since it always last longer than regular polish. He made my cuticles look very clean in no time at all. I chose a bright red polish and was pleasantly surprised that he was able to get the color all the way to the edge of my nail without getting it on the skin. I tend to look for that quality in my nail technicians. The end product was nicely manicured, shiny red nails for the holiday season. He even added snowflakes on both of my ring finger for a decorative touch. Very satisfied with my experience and will return again. For someone who gets their nails (acrylic) done once every 2-3 years, Tien has impressed me enough that I have seen her twice within the last 2 months and still plan on going back. The main reason I came to see Tien was for her unique nail designs. As you can see from some of the photos on here, she is very talented with freehanding designs and she also does 3D nail artwork. If I'm going to get my nails done, I want a look that no one else has and that is exactly what Tien gave me. I got so many compliments on my nails every where I went! I was so in love with my last design that she did for me and I love the more plain, but still flashy look that I have now. The one downside to the shop would be their color section. Being that Tien does do so much nail art on her clients, I think the majority of us just go in for designs and not so much a straight color. With that being said, she doesn't have the greatest nail polish selection to choose from. I was lucky enough to find hot fuschia and silver sparkles that look wonderful on me, but if I were to go back again for straight color and not a design, I know to bring my own polish. If you're looking for something fun and different, I suggest going in and seeing Tien. I haven't worked with the others there, but they're all really nice and the other clients seem to enjoy going there. Also, I haven't got them, but both times that I've been in, there's been like 5 different people calling and asking to get lashes and fill for their lashes. It's pretty popular there. I've been getting acrylics on and off for years now. Never have I ever been completely satisfied with the end result, until I found this place. I see Hien (Tien's sister-in-law) religiously, every two weeks for my fill. My nails are always perfection when I leave. Never has a single nail been crooked. Polish job is always clean and smooth. I've never been nicked or cut. The family that owns the salon is very nice and polite. Last week I broke a nail by slamming it in a drawer the day after my fill. I stopped by the salon to have it fixed and was not charged. Parking is not an issue either. There is always a spot open on yesler. I usually find one a block or two away by the library. All in all, I've never had anything but wonderful experiences here. I have sent several friends to see Hien and they agree, she's the best! read more

This place was recommended to me by a gal with the most on point nails. Decided to try it out for a gel pedicure & I am so happy. My technician showed a lot of care towards my nails, making sure each finger nail had smooth edges & no dust or cotton fluff before applying the polish (she wiped & inspected each nail after I washed my hands). Couture Nails has become my go-to spot (for now) in Seattle for getting my coffin, stiletto, acrylic nail fix. As strange as it sounds, it's not easy finding a place that is up to par with current nail trends, shaping, and proper techniques for these new trends. Many places are so buried down in old school acrylic nail trends and continue to use the same old techniques to try to achieve new looks. It just doesn't work. You can't be lazy when it comes to coffin and stiletto shapes or nail art. Couture Nails sits at a healthy 3.5 rating overall, in my opinion. And I round up to 4 stars because you don't need an appointment to get helped right away. I've never had to wait long, even with a full shop. Plus, the price is right. So far at Couture, I've had a stiletto to rounded almond shape fill and a new full set of coffins, requested as "narrow as possible". COLOR/NAIL ART: Both visits I've asked for one nude pink color on all nails, no art. I'm not prepared to comment on their nail art or 3D nail art. I've seen some photos, but so far in Seattle I've kept my nails simple. It looks like they do a descent job with art, but I have yet to find THE place in Seattle for mic-drop-level nail art/ 3D nail art. If you know it, shout it out. As far as colors, I wish there were more current, on-trend options. Some colors/collections seem outdated. SHAPE/QUALITY: Overall I'm pretty happy with both the shorter, narrow, almond shape I asked for and the coffin shape. I'm a perfectionist, so I'd rate their shaping skills a solid 3.5. My coffins looked good, but I definitely noticed some ragged edges along the sides and imperfections in the narrowness of the tip between fingers. The almond-shaped set I got was near perfect, no complaints there. I also appreciate that they listened when I asked for very thin, very narrow, natural-looking nails. I hate the "chunk" of acrylic nails and I'm pretty sensitive to it. Couture does a great job of listening to direction. SERVICE: Overall, it's pretty efficient. Not overly great, just right. The gents who've done my nails the times I've gone have been very hard to understand, not because of their accents, but because they whisper everything behind those masks. It's kind of a pain to ask that they repeat their commands and questions numerous times. Speak up! And the last time I was in the technician wasn't paying attention to detail and my both my thumbs ended up getting smudged because they weren't getting enough of the UV light when they were setting. I didn't return to get them redone (I didn't want to be a jerk). But my favorite salons are the ones who catch these little things when they're wiping down your nails and fix it before it's a problem. Street parking is generally a breeze! read more

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have been trying for a year to get into this place to redeem my mani/pedi coupon. Every time I call they tell me to call back when the manager is there. I don't know why the others can't take my number and have the manager call me back. I can't even count how many times I called to try to make an appointment. Now that the coupon is almost expired I gave it one last ditch try. They told me "we are booked till the end of the month. We are short staffed so we won't get you in or honor your coupon." I never ended up going here and let me tell you why: I bought three Tippr coupons for my two bridesmaids and I to use for the day before my wedding. I made double sure that I read the fine print, and that I would be able to use them then. The only thing the fine print said is that you must have an appointment to use. No problem right? About two months ago I tried to call and make an appointment for all three of us for June 25th, 2011. I work in a salon, and usually scheduling that far out is not an issue. Not only could the person who answered the phone not seem to understand me, but she wouldn't book an appointment that far out. Ok... fine I will just call back closer to. I'm sorry that I am overly organized... However, after reading reviews on here, I found out that they don't even TAKE appointments on a Saturday or a Friday. I went to their website and found their email address so that I might talk to them through an easier media. I emailed saying that I had purchased the three coupons for my two bridesmaids and I and that I know they normally don't make appointments for Saturdays, but that I know I would mess up my nails if I got them done earlier than the day before the wedding; in fact, one day was already a risk. (Very clumsy...) I was hoping there might be something they could do to help a girl out. It's been two weeks and I've had no response. So I called Tippr and had them refund my coupons. Thank god Tippr staff are so nice and understanding. Good nail salon overall. My acrylic nails look fab! The gel finish over it is a bit spotty, probably could have used another layer as it doesn't cover some spots. Great nail artist who does wonderful design work. It's not the cheapest but it looks great! Got my toe polish re-done and she didn't put a top coat on I had noticed. They hurriedly shuffled me over to the nail table. Felt like I was being a bit rushed. After being there for an hour and a half I scurried off to the gym. When I got home and took off my socks, my big toes had imprints on them! After almost 2 hours of dry time how was there imprints on my freshly painted toes!? I had to try and make do by painting glitter polish over it. Do they water down the colors? It's not the closest place to where I live but it's the only decent one I have found so far. The one's downtown are horrid with acrylic nails. WTH. Yelp notes they are not opened on the weekend!? That seems weird. Toe polish change and fill w/design work cost me $50. I gave a really good tip because the design work was nice and overall my fill was fine, plus the people were very nice. Just seemed expensive though? I have been a loyal customer to Couture Nails and Spa for nearly 7 years. I have rarely ventured to other places, and always come back to TiEN she is the sweetest and most talented nail technician I have ever met! She truly makes an effort to have a good rapport with her customers, she pays very close attention to detail and always does the job right. When I first started coming to her, I only got my nails done. I LOVE her free-hand designs. Slowly but surely I started to try out other services and was always satisfied. If I accidentially smudged some polish or had any dilemna what so ever, Tien is quick to come to the rescue! Now the Pedicures need their own paragraph! I love the sea salt scrub they use! It makes my feet feel so smooth afterwards! The water is nice and piping hot! And they give you the option of which scent of lotion you would prefer for your foot massage. I like to either get french-tip or a funky design on my big toe and solid polish on the rest. Usually my nails will also match! Tien is so awesome! She got me addicted to Brazilian waxing! She is very patient and particular. My bikini line is her canvas and the end result is ART! This isn't the first nail shop I've been too, but hopefully it will be the last one! The worst nail shop I have ever been to in my entire life! My two middle fingers are burned from the UV light my natural whole nails came off I don't know what to do, this has never happened to me before in my life my entire nail has never came off before! I am horrified at what has happened to me, I kept telling the lady my nail is burning it hurts me really badly and she told me to stick my hand back into the UV machine and yelled at me she said it's burning me because I am on the phone, which doesn't make sense at all literally in front of everyone and because I didn't want to cause a scene I tried to do what I was told and of course I figured since they must be professionals she must know what she's doing, she told me I was being sensitive and basically forced me to stick my hand back into the machine after she had sprayed alcohol on my fingers which I later looked up on Google and it said that could be the cause of the burning. She charged me about $180 for a full set and French tip nails I've never paid this price before for nails but I didn't know what to do like I said and I didn't know what this woman was capable of she seemed very aggressive towards me and honestly I was just kind of shaken up from the burning my hands were trembling I just wanted to get out of that place in peace. I don't know if I should sue them or what but I want to write this review to warn anybody that is thinking of coming here to please don't. This was a horrifying traumatic experience that I will never forget in my entire life I've never been treated like that before ever by anyone, I don't understand if this lady had something personal against me or if she was just having a very bad day that day! Absolutely unacceptable you guys are unprofessional and might I say a very terrible person, if you hurt someone and they are clearly in pain and you proceed to keep hurting that person you don't need to be running a business. I needed to get a mani/pedi before going to vegas & decided to check out this place after getting a groupon...wow am I really glad I did because I think I just found my favorite nail salon :D I booked with a Tien & she was super sweet both on the phone giving me directions & in person. I arrived a little late because I somehow got lost, but she was very nice about the whole thing. When I first arrived the shop did not look any special & it seemed to be only Tien, her sister & her mother in the salon, but after I got settled in my massage chair the clients started trickling in. One girl even came back after she had accidentally smudged her polish & mom fixed her right up no charge. From the way the clients interacted with the ladies at the salon & the way passerbyers stopped in just to say hi to Tien made me realized how tight & close-knit this salon was with their clients. There were ladies from the south end there. I ended up picking out two polishes to create my own color of a deep bright blue with sparkles on top. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and efficient with everything that do. I can call and get an appointment easily and quickly. I always feel like I am coming back to a place where I am greeted as a friend and treated well as a customer. The quality of service is always top notch and Tien does an amazing job. I am a manager in customer service myself, and appreciate her professionalism. She is meticulous about my manis & pedis- always making sure that I am satisfied. I've been coming here for a little over a year now and I can honestly say that I will never trust anybody besides Tien with my nails. This was the first and the only place I've gone to get my nails did. Yeah, I said did. You know why? Because this place is hood-fabulous in all the right ways (also, I hear that that's the proper lingo for getting your nails done). Every crazy idea that I've ever come up with, Tien has been able to magically do to perfection. I asked for menorah nails and I got menorah nails. 3-D cupcakes? No problem. 3-D snowmen? Piece of cake. Ooooo...piece of cake. I should ask for that next time! Ice cream cones? A breeze. Pandas? Yup. Even when I don't get all crazy, they still look so amazing that people comment on them all the time and I've had to start carrying around business cards to hand out.
