Cinnamon kurtosh with pumpkin ice cream & Nutella drizzle
Naphia S.

Very inviting, one of a kind, dessert shop. Having never heard of a kurtosh (chimney cake) before, I wasn't sure what to expect. The staff walks you through the ordering process, explaining what a kurtosh is, how it's made and how it's best served. Each kurtosh can be served as a 'Kurly Kone' with the ice cream inside it or, warm with the ice cream on the side. Served warm with the ice cream on the side is the traditional way of eating it we were told so, that's what we opted for. Neither the kurtosh or ice cream was overly sweet so if you're not big on sweet tasting things, this is right up your alley. The ice cream flavors are limited and change so periodically. The drizzle is just the right amount, not too much & not too little. If you're looking for something new to try, and your sweet tooth doesn't call for level 10 sweet, definitely check this place out.

LOVED my experience here!! We stopped one day since its near my sisters house and it was better than expected! The chimney cakes were a way better vessel for ice cream than a regular wafer or waffle cone. And I love how customizable they are. It was my first time here and they were so so kind and explained to us the whole process. Let me take pictures and videos and we even got interviewed to be in an upcoming video of theirs! The staff and the products were high quality. The ice cream is Nastos so you know its good too! Plenty of parking, plenty of seating inside. Kind of a hidden gem on a busy road.

Loved the everything about the experience. The staff was pleasant and patient with us first timers. The hardest part was deciding on what to get since the options are so good. Definitely recommend and will be returning to try seasonal options. Love the vibe of the shop.

Kurly Kone with ice cream and cinnamon kurl

I've got a bit of a sweet tooth, but I'll admit I had never heard of this wonderful dessert until yesterday. Kurly Kürtősh takes is a wonderful dessert spot that brings this wonderful Hungarian dessert to you right here in Nutley. The inside of the spot is nice and the staff is so nice and explain everything so well if you are a first timer. You have the choice of eating it more of the traditional route vs as an ice cream cone... luckily it was me and my wife so we got one of each. I tried the original as an ice cream cone. The dough was so tasty, subtly sweet and enhanced by the ice cream. And I loved the touch of adding a little chocolate truffle on the bottom to prevent the ice cream from spilling out of the bottom. For the traditional route we had the cinnamon sugar with the maple syrup sauce and it was also really goods maybe a little on the sweeter side. Overall will definitely be coming back, was amazing and would recommend!

I absolutely ADORE this spot! From the treats, ambiance, and staff it's an all around amazing experience. For starters the workers here are so sweet, welcoming, and passionate about their business. If it's your first time they give a background on the chimney cakes. The owner was trained in Hungary so you are getting a truly authentic experience here in NJ. I saw on their Instagram that they were serving Dubai Chocolate cones and I had to try it! I LOVEE their pistachio ice cream (it's one of their rotating flavors) and the addition of the toasted Kataifi cone and nutella just elevated it even more! It was so so so delicious that I could eat a whole tray of them.

I absolutely adore this place. It was on my TikTok must tries and I'm so glad I made it. The owner was so warm and friendly educating me on the background of this dessert and how I could customize it to my liking. The dish was flavorful, sweet and well prepared with love. I definitely plan to come back whatever I desire a sweet treat like this. The inside of the establishment was well decorated, modern and very clean.

Really fun and delicious! Did not know if this Hungarian delight called "chimney cakes" used as cones for the ice cream. Staff were very friendly and we were so glad to have gone in for a quick treat. Such a great find. The kids loved it and so did I. Will definitely be back.

We decided to stop by kurly kurtosh this weekend after seeing it online and thinking it was a really cool concept. From the moment I walked in, I felt very welcomed by the staff. When it came time to order, everything was explained to us in great detail, which I really appreciated. The owner even took the time to share the background of how the place came about, along with her vision and idea. She was super friendly and welcoming, and that kind of hospitality truly makes a difference. It made the whole experience even better. I ordered the Dubai Cone, which was excellent, absolutely loved it. I also tried the Oreo cone with vanilla ice cream and it was amazing as well. I will definitely be returning. This place is a must-try. Thank you so much for the hospitality!

There are only 2 other places I found this great Humngarian street desert, in Budapest and in Jerusalem. Now there is one in our region too!! This café offers authentic Hungarian Kürtőskalács ("Chimney Cakes") at the highest freshness and quality with a selection of sprinkling (like cinamon and sugar, raspberry, coconut, et.). You can have it the traditional way, filled with great icecream. They prepare them fresh right in front of you. The icecream is of excellent quality and you can choose a toping (Nutella, Hot Honey, etc). The icecream is served with a Linder chocolate ball. This combination is a true treat for the senses. If you are going to have a lunch-time desert, you might as well enjoy this heavenly delight! The owner is very welcoming and informative. The ambiance was minimalist and contemporary. This place is right of the Montclair exit (151) of the Garden State parkway, with easy parking.

Kurly Kurtosh is amazing. As soon as you walk in the door you can smell the fresh baked cones and sweet smell of pastries being baked. The space is super clean and modern, and the staff was super welcoming and friendly. The owner imports the dough from Hungary and makes the cones fresh in house every day. I got Madagascar vanilla ice cream in a cinnamon cone and it was one of the best desserts I've ever had. The ice cream was pure vanilla and super flavorful, but as my friend Mike said as we were eating, "wait until you get to the cone!" The cone was also amazing and almost reminded me of a churro. The ice cream paired with the cone was a combo made in heaven. This place is amazing and if you're looking for a delicious and fun dessert, come on down to Kurly Kurtosh and get cultured with some Hungarian dessert!

Such a great cafe - good ambience and the kurtosh "tour" and options is adorable and delicious! I had the st pattys day special with edible glitter and baileys ice cream- sooooo good! Great spot to chill and even get work done. Spacious to sit and relax.

After seeing this place on TikTok repeatedly, I decided to give it a try. It was well worth it! The food was freshly made and so tasty. They use authentic ingredients, as the dessert is a traditional Hungarian dish. The owner, Nicole, was super friendly and very informative about the desserts as well. The baker, Sarah, was lovely and also very helpful. The place is so cute and clean. Overall, if you pass this place, definitely stop in.

Welcome

Chimney cakes?, They are a beloved street food in Hungary. Nicole and her team here are super sweet and take their time rolling out each kurtosh making each order fresh. They have several different flavors to pick from customizing your experience. The taste of these delicious confections is a cross between pastry and a French beignet. Who doesn't love buttery flaky sweet delights? Super traditional and worth the visit. Street parking is easy and lovey sitting area for your friends and family to enjoy this treat together. Cheers

The lighting is warm and cozy and beckons you to dine in and enjoy every bite. The service at is excellent, from the moment you walk in. Everyone is very friendly and on a busy night we didn't have to wait long. It is BYOB, so we brought a red, white and orange wine that paired well with our meal. My friend eats at Cafe Giotto often so he's of a regular and the staff treated us really well which made our experience even better. We started with the Insalata di Mare, which was very fresh. The handmade pasta is really great and I had the Seafood Linguine, with lots of scallops and shrimp in a broth, and extra spicy. i tasted some of my friends' dishes too, which included flat bread pizza, ravioli, salmon and some other delectable dishes. I ended the night with their Tiramisu. It was the perfect finish, to the meal. Not too sweet and nicely presented with fresh fruit. Though I'm not in Jersey often, I'm sure to return to Cafe Giotto later this year.

When you enter, there are an assortment of pastries so we had to get the egg custard tart, the caramelized onion and potato tart, and the were very kind to give us a chocolate tart for free. We also ordered a margarita flatbread and an eggplant parm sandwhich. The tomato sauce on the sandwhich and the flatbread is unbeatable. The eggplant parm sandwhich was probably the best one we've ever had. All of the pastries were amazing but the egg custard tart was my favorite. It had a hint of lemon and was super creamy. The owners were so kind and welcoming and I would definitely go back for a small coffee and pastry or for a full meal.

I wasn't sure if it opened as I didn't see anybody inside at first. Then we opened the door and stepped inside, and called out. We found the employee sitting behind the counter, but the counter was so big that it obstructed our view of knowing they were there. Upon looking around, they had a nice assortment of pastries and baked goods, along with wrapped sandwiches from earlier in the day. I spied the baked goods section and could not resist getting a chocolate chip cookie as we eyed their baked goods. We decided to share since I need to watch my calories during the holidays. I want to celebrate Christmas, and not look like Santa. The employee there made two lattes for us and asked if we would like her to heat the cookie. Yes, please and thank you! Upon sitting down, I noticed the big grease mark on the napkin, so it should be noted that their cookies are made with high butter content. The chocolate chip cookie, though generously chipped and served delightfully warm, fell a bit flat on flavor. Similarly, the latte, while hot and satisfying, was overwhelmingly milky, lacking the robust punch of a quality espresso. Here is how it ranked: Chocolate Chip cookie: 3.5/5 stars. Good texture, high butter content, but flat taste. Latte: 3.5/5 stars. Nice and hot, good alternative milk option, but too mild on espresso. This cafe is a perfectly pleasant spot for a moment of refuge and a hot cup of something, especially if you're not concerned with a full-bodied coffee experience or a truly exceptional baked good. If you're out and about needing to warm up, it does the trick.
