DON'T GO HERE... And here is why... I went to get my projector fixed. They were initially saying that its too small of a job since it was just soldering a broken piece of metal that presses a switch. They said that if this needs to be done then its $70. I didn't have a better option so I was fine with it. When I went to pick it up, I asked them to show me what they did so that I understand and confirm that they didn't do something wrong especially because it was a loaner from a friend. BUT to my surprise, this guy was really angry at me for asking to open a screw and show me what was done. He asked me to get the screw driver from my home and then open it myself and check it myself. His rationale was that it is too small of a job and only paying $70 to them and so its not worth his time to do this. I asked to just give me the screw driver and I can check myself. But again to my surprise he was still super mad at me telling me that he doesn't have time to give me a screw driver. He was telling me that me asking for a screw driver to open and look at the work they did is unreasonable and not a decent request!!!! I have no idea what was going on in his mind but he argued for 5 min with me and never gave me the screw driver to open it myself even though it would have taken him 30 seconds. I got tired and gave him the money and left. But after coming home when I tried to open it, the thing never opens and so whatever they did made it such that i can never open the flap and if anything happens in the future, i basically have to break the plastic piece of cover. When I called him, he again got angry saying I am wasting his time. so NEVER EVER GO TO THEM for your repair. read more

You're probably paying more than you should be. I messaged them about a cracked 2016 Macbook Pro screen. This is what they said: "It looks like you have 2016 macbook Pro, it's $420 for original apple, used part, plus $60 for installation, we do have it in stock. Brand new part is $540" I got another quote from another business (who I went with instead and they did a wonderful job) for $430 total. When I asked if they did a price match, they rudely just stopped answering me. I understand that you're a business and you can set your own prices, but at least have the common decency to respond. Later at JB Fix, the place I got my laptop fixed at, I asked about the cost of parts, and it turns out they prices for apple originals are much cheaper than KT stated, some even at $180-$320. I did a google search for parts and from them for around that price as well. So in conclusion, did they do anything wrong per say? No, except for ignoring me. So I had a custom keyboard made and delivered to me a while ago (Dactyl Ergodox, if interested). It used pro micros, but their usb connections are pretty shoddy, so they broke off. I bought USB C versions for the promicro and hired KT to do the de/re-soldering of the connections. First thing to note is that the connections are the same on all promicros. Secondly, the wires all should go to the same place they were on the old promicros, so it should just be a matter of bookkeeping before resoldering. However, when I got the keyboard, somehow the LED and the connection between the two halves of the keyboard were both broken. I looked inside, and those wires were completely wired wrong. On one side of the keyboard, two wires coming from the same source were BOTH going to THE GROUND connector, and on another source, two wires were both going to the same connector, but a different one. This is weird because they were definitely not doing that on the other side. They also asked for wiring documentation for some reason; maybe they already desoldered everything and realized they hadn't kept track of which wire went where so they needed to do it again? But if so, the documentation sent was certainly not followed. Not only that but they lost 3 of the screws on the keyboard, and they had me dig through their box of screws to find anything that fit (In the end, the ones that fit had heads that got in the way of the keys. This is partially on me, but still why were the screws lost to begin with :\). If the two sides of the keyboard don't connect, the keyboard doesn't work, and I'm concerned about the miswiring of the LEDs; it's not the end of the world, but I don't know if that could damage the keyboard somehow. I would have given them a 2 or a 3 if that was all because it was a non-standard keyboard (though I thought simply keeping track of which wires goes were would not be hard for professionals), but the icing on the cake is that I sent a message asking about the wiring issues, and they never responded, and I gave them at least 3 business days to respond. Not only that, but the labor costs ($140) were half the cost of the keyboard itself, which I figured was better than buying a brand new keyboard, but they didn't even fix it right and never responded to my message. In conclusion, had a terrible experience, probably will never be going back. read more

DON'T TRUST YOUR ELECTRONICS HERE .... :( Here's why: -I brought my -iPad Pro 12.9in. 5th Gen-in to get a diagnosis and was not asked for ANY form of ID nor was I given any agreement/paperwork/permissions to sign. I thought it was weird but figured they knew what they were doing... I should've trusted my instincts smh! -I received a text a few days later saying my iPad was unrepairable. I went to pick it up a today and when I got to their location it was completely gone and demolished with a sign saying they had moved locations. No one called me to let me know they had moved which I would've really appreciated knowing ahead of time, because I work full time and took my 30 minute lunch break in order to go pick it up. -I drove to the new location and was told my iPad was "in his van" so I physically watched him walk to his van to go get it. -When he gave it back to me I noticed a chunk of the screen was missing out of the corner of my iPad and plastic tape was covering it. When I asked what happened, he said that happened during the diagnosis because there was a small crack in that area. I was aware of the crack but had brought it to other repair shops without issues. -I tried to explain how disappointed I was to receive my iPad back in WORSE condition than I had received it, and how come they didn't have me sign a waiver or form stating that damage might occur. -He had no honest response and was very snappy with me, just kept repeating "that's just what happened" and I could tell her was getting annoyed with me questioning him about it. In conclusion: I do not feel my iPad was properly cared for nor stored in a safe location. Even if they are transferring facilities there is absolutely no reason why my device should be stored in a van parked in the street. What if my device had been stolen? I was extremely disappointed to receive my device back with more damage than I had left it with. My feelings were not respected nor cared about. I wouldn't not recommend this business and would advise you to select another repair shop that follows better guidelines to ensure the safety + care for your device. read more

That feeling when you drop your 2015 MacBook Pro and see that the screen shattered... Take a deep breath and bring it to KT electronics. They are a treasure in the area. Khuong restored my faith inability of local businesses to empower people to repair devices. When Apple customer service didn't answer, some repair places quoted me hundreds of dollars more, and others won't even touch it saying the model is too old, KT electronics team responded immediately. They had a reasonable price, clear explanation, and same day service. And they take walk ins! They have some spare parts around and was given a couple of options. Being the cheapskate that I am, I chose the cheapest replacement screen that was not in the best condition. I thought I can live with a cosmetic blemish. They had it done in an hour! When I got home, the screen looked fantastic! However I had two issues. Both due to the cheap part I chose and not KT's fault. Some of the scratches on the screen obscured the webcam (and with COVID,video conferences are important during WFH). Also, the hinge was lose. I had the dreaded feeling that I made the wrong choice and just suck it up and live with it. I almost gave up hope thinking my laptop would not be restored like it was. But lo and behold, when I texted the owner Khuong, he was so understanding and said I can bring it back the next day and we can go with a second option of a newer screen. I came back and he did it within 30 min. I cant believe it! My laptop feels brand new! Having a broken screen is never a pleasant experience. But s**t happens and we all have to deal with broken devices at some point. I'm so happy that KT electronics is around! The silver lining of this ordeal is now I have a go to repair place. First of all, KT Electronics is not Apple Certified and I would not recommend even if its for a cracked screen. I had them repair my cracked IPhone screen and received it back with internal face sensor damage. My phone was clearly working fine before as I was able to unlock it with face recognition when I handed it to them. I was super disappointed to receive my phone back to only notice that the face sensor was not working anymore. They claimed it wasn't there fault as they had no way of knowing if the face sensor was already damaged in the first place, which was false. I had to resort to paying them for the screen repair and walked out with the lack of the IPhone face sensor feature. KT Electronics does some shady business practices. I had an iPhone that I was trying to repair for a broken screen; the owner said it wasn't repairable by them because it was part of the motherboard; this is understandable so I gave them $30 for the inspection fee. The whole process took 2 weeks however; they took the phone in initially and said it would be done soon within a few days, and then didn't respond for a whole week after - finally I had to walk in myself to see how it was going. Again, I'm sure they had a lot of tasks but they didn't do a good job updating me after the first few days. The biggest kicker about this is that they replaced my cracked screen with a very broken one. I know this because I knew where the cracks on my screen originally were, and the screen my phone had when I got it back was obviously very different, and more damaged throughout. And when I tried to connect my iPhone to iTunes, I found out that the phone was now stuck in Recovery mode - something that would disable my phone, without my knowledge or permission. The owner was understanding that I couldn't communicate through phone since it was broken, so he would message me on Yelp. All in all, I don't trust this place. read more

Dropped off my iPhone 7 for a common motherboard-level repair on Thursday afternoon and was told it would cost $70 and to come back in an hour. The issue with the speaker IC needing a replacement was not fixed until two days later on Saturday. Also attempted to charge me $90 because it was a "difficult repair"; later they used this reason to oversell me on other phones. At least they didn't brick my phone. I brought my laptop 3 weeks ago because the screen was not turning on. One of the employees told me they had to run a diagnostics to see what was wrong ( which is $50). He said if a cable was loose, it would be a free service. I felt convinced so I agreed. I got a text message 2 days later saying they had to replace the logic board. In the end I payed $250 ( with the $50 diagnostic). Everything was going fine and dandy until today, when my computer got the exact same problem with the screen . Instead of taking it to a repair service, I opened the laptop and tried to see what was the problem. It turned out the RAM sticks were just loose. A simple push saved me some hundreds of dollars. I have never been disappointed and disgusted with a service until i came here. I do not recommend this place because they do not know what they are doing and will take advantage of you. Also, when I went to pick up my laptop, some lady came in complaining about how they did not fix her phone correctly. I went here recently and felt rather rudely treated to be honest. I was trying to sell an older tower which was a gaming grade PC. The clerk asked me twice what was wrong with it in a way I felt was biased. After assuring him nothing was wrong with it, he went to go turn it on... which it did just fine in the back room. He then came back and said the boot time was long and it's likely a trash hard drive and i needed a solid state hard-drive. One of the best electronic repair store in San Jose and surrounding areas! I had issues with my PS4 HDMI port and I called in many place to enquire about cost and time for the replacement of HDMI port. Out of 3 stores I called, KT electronics gave me genuine price and 1 day time which was great for me. So I went on a weekday afternoon to give my PS4 for replacement and they gave me a order number and one day time to collect it back. The initial cost they told me for replacement is $120(which is very firm). Later that afternoon I got a call/text to collect my PS4(total time 2 hrs). When I went back to collect the PS4 they informed me that HDMI didn't had any issues and PS4 is functioning as expected. So they charged me only $30 instead (diagnosis fee). The business owner (KT) very nice guy , they might have told me that the HDMI replacement was completed and charged me $120 but they were very honest and told me the truth which is very rare to see in this kind of repair stores. My iPhone 11 was shutting off randomly at times to the point were it will only stay on unless connected to a charger. It got to the point were it would not turn on at ALL! I need my phone for work and needed to get it fixed right away, I called UBreakiFix and was given the run around, I was sent to a the store to come to find out they don't have the part in when I just talked to an associate and they told me they had it in stock and to come in. I went in yesterday asking for a cleaning on my laptop since I spilled alcohol on it which made the keys too sticky to operate. I told him it might have warranty and he said he would clean it so they wouldnt notice the spill. He then sends a message that day saying the keyboard is fried and needs to be replaced, I give the okay to do so. I go back in today however because I need a few files for work, check out the untouched laptop and all the keys worked, backspace had just been glued down so it wouldnt register anything before. Now I told him just clean it and ill take the risk if it fails in the future, he says okay that will be an additional 70... Like I thought thats what I paid for and now he's saying he can potentially ruin the device if he does open it and clean it which is why he didnt do so. Like okay... should have mentioned that in the beginning.
