I don't know how this place gets good reviews. Came in because my iPhone 5s front screen was cracked and the half piece was almost off and thought hey let me support a small business. This is one of the reasons small business gets a bad rep. Took my phone on a Monday in and Xavier told me that it should be done by the end of today. Paid full $140 (I was going out of town thursday). Called 4 hrs later before closing and he told me that I would have to pay extra for my finger print scanner to be fixed. Told me it wouldn't be done until Thursday I told him that I didn't need the scanner and he lied to me telling me I couldn't search through my files if it wasn't. Anyone would know the scanner for finger prints doesn't have anything to do with files. So he tells me ok come in Wednesday because he has to get parts. (They don't have parts stocked, I declined the finger reader keep in mind he said by today). When I Arrived Wednesday to get my phone, I came in and my phone wasn't even ready. So one of their other associates (Eric who doesn't work there anymore said that Xavier isn't even a tech and that this place doesn't run properly. Eric then promises me that it would be done by tomorrow before I leave. He tells me again "they don't have the part" he tells me call him in the morning. So I call the next morning an hour before they open and he sounds like he just woke up. I asked about the phone and he said "you can't rush me." I told him he told me to call him and he promised about my phone. He said he'll have it done before 10:30a (flights at 12a). I come in at 1045a and still "no parts." I was pissed off. How long does it take to fix a phone? Other places do it in hours. They told me to come back after my leave. I was angry. Came back following Monday (one week) and Eric quit, and my phone was still in pieces. I asked for my money back, and phone back I was angry and upset. Who takes a whole week for a quick service? Xavier promises me that he will have it fixed. Give him until the end of that day. He made me feel bad saying Eric left and they have all these phones to fix. He said he'll put mine as priority. Instead of the end of the day I gave them until the next because I had a feeling my phone wouldn't be done. ( didn't get a call by end of that day). Next day phone was done but home button was white. They said they didn't have a black one. Was promised to be called when they had in stock and they would do it for free by Gerald. Haven't gotten a call back since and it's been 3 weeks. 1 (should be 0) star bad service and unprofessional. I have been lied to more than enough. Even if they had the black home button I wouldn't go back. Worst place I have ever been to. read more

A couple weeks ago I took my Samsung tablet to the geek squad at BestBuy. It had stopped charging. I was quickly told that the port was damaged. It also has a cracked screen so I sent it off for $35 for an estimate for those two items. A few days later I was told that the repair would cost $375. Of course that was out of the question because I could buy a new one for less. So then I took it to Downtown Wireless. They simply cleaned the port with a Q tip and charged me $20. If I had chosen to have the screen repaired also it would have been around $130 to150. I opted to let that go as It does not affect the functioning. I so appreciate that Downtown Wireless tried the least expensive solution first before just replacing the port. They have proven to be an honest business and I will return to them with any appropriate cell phone or tablet issues. read more

My Sony Xperia frozed and could not turn on. I panicked as the latest backup did not run due to issue with google folders. I was recommend to try out Downtown Wireless. Met Gerald. He is a very calm, professional and courteous young gentleman. He took a look and told me he would get back to my by that evening to tell me the potential issue and will give me an estimate. It was 4pm. He called me at 7pm to let me know that something was lose and can fix it without having to order new parts. I got my phone back the next day!!! I also had iPhone 4S that went dead one year ago. I got the phone from Verizon. Verizon told me they think the phone is fried, as I sometimes use "non Apple approve charger" Apple technicians confirmed the same and told me to get rid of the phone. I hang on to the phone as I wanted to ensure my private data on the phone was cleared out before the disposal. Gerald and his associates took a look at the phone and fixed it in less than one hour!! The phone rebooted and all the previous data is cleared. it is now working like new, and I can actually sell that phone. Gerald and his team are AWESOME! read more

My iPhone 5s screen was coming unmounted and then it decided not to power on at all. After reading a number of reviews on yelp I came across Downtown Wireless and read some really good reviews and decided to give them a call. The guy on the other end of the phone was polite and professional. I asked him if they had my model iPhone screen available as I needed it replaced ASAP because this is my work phone. He asked me if I could please hold a few minutes and came back with POSITIVE news as he had my screen in stock and can replace it within the hour or sooner. Worst experience ever!! It seems like they don't keep parts stocked. They had to make trips to get parts and they claim they use apple parts but when I compare my phone to original iPhones the screen looks dark. You can tell the difference between quality of screens. I'm super happy with the service here! I dropped my iPhone 5 one too many times and I found this place of course via Yelp. It's right in the heart of downtown SJ so you can either drop off your phone or make an excuse to go shopping at Ross, haha! Aki, the owner is very attentive and was very nice and understanding with my 5 yo who naturally had to use the restroom within 5 minutes of getting there. He shared with me a bit about his family even which was nice. He has a great response time with my phone getting done in less than 2 hours. I think it might have been 90 mins even! Came in to have iPhone 5 headphone jack fixed. It was only putting out sound on one side od headphone. I was quoted $25 and it seemed like a reasonable price. The technician said he would need to replace the entire bottom speaker unit and it would take an hour. Came back an hour later and he said it will take slightly longer because another part had a problem. Error message said cable not recognized. 15 minutes later he came out and it was all fixed. Tested it in front of me. Overall I was happy with service, eventhough I had to wait an extra 15 mins it was playing sound like it was new. read more

I just had a fabulous customer service experience at Downtown Wireless. I smashed my iPhone screen at 7:30pm this evening. I checked on Yelp for a fix it place and came across this place and thank goodness they're open until 9pm. I got there a little after 8pm and walked out with a fixed phone a little after 9pm. They even stayed open a little bit late for me to finish the job. The phone works perfectly including the microphone. They offer a 1 year warranty if anything goes wrong. I took my phone to get the screen fixed on Jan 20th, 15 and I barely picked up last week. They did a excellent job on it. I would recommend them to friends that are looking to get their phone fixed. After getting ridiculous quotes from other places I decided to give this a shot because of the good reviews on yelp. Not only was the price to fix to electronics reasonable, they returned my items in excellent working condition. This place was too good to be true! I had cracked the screen on my iPhone and these guys told me a price that was $30-$40 less then everywhere else I had contacted. I dropped off my phone and paid them the fee, they said give it an hour or 2 and they would contact me when the phone was ready. 3 hours later I called the store, no answer. Went to the store around 5 o'clock and no one was there. After getting the owners number from a neighboring business, aki led me through a whole list of excuses of why no one was there and why my phone was not done yet. Long story short, after 4 visits to the store and a series of phone tag, at 10 pm I had to go to the store to pick up my phone and for all my troubles I got a whopping $10 off. All in all, this place was very unprofessional and I would not recommend anyone else going here. Pay the extra $30 and go to a real shop. P.s.- all these good reviews are probably family and friends.
