It's like a dream come true for me to have found a place where computer/tech experts can repair my electronic devices. I had a sick iPad a couple of years ago; later an older Dell laptop was giving me headaches, and most recently my NEW HP laptop was acting up. I treat it like a baby and don't use it that much but it was responding with the black screen of death. I rang Clever Tech and spoke with Eduardo. Based on the serial number he was able to tell if my warranty was still valid. He took time out to assist as well as was possible over the phone. I ended up visiting their shop in San Jose (Brokaw area) on Murphy Ave the next day. He checked it over and quickly determined that it was something simple having to do with not having completed some updates. it's a mystery to me how he knew all this, but he is the expert after all. It turned out to be a quick fix. Obviously that may not always be in the cards but it was this time. Eduardo and Jesus (and others in their crew) are always polite, personable and super smart. Their rates are fair and I will always go to them for repairs. By the way, Eduardo mentioned that he and his team opened another shop, this one in downtown Saratoga on Big Basin Way. It has a different name... It's called YeaMac. I don't hope for more problems with my laptop, iPhone etc. but if a problem arises I know exactly where to go to get resolution. read more

My gaming laptop was having overheating issues, so I called CleverTech, and it was easy to come in, drop off my device, and come back the same day. Jesus checked me in, took my device, and was very friendly when I asked him how they would diagnose / address my laptop overheating issues, showing me the thermal paste they'd use too. Upon picking up my device, Jesus walked me through what they did, showed me pictures of the before, and gave me recommendations on how to prevent the issue from recurring. My laptop hasn't overheated once since the cleaning, so I am impressed with CleverTech's work. It's $110 for the work, but I was able to get a $15 discount through Yelp. I Had originally went to Apple to get my battery replaced because it was swollen and they turned me away TWICE. Just told me to buy a new phone, and that no place would even try to fix it. Clevertech is located on the 2nd floor and parking is behind the building. Just go up the stairs on the left side and you wint miss it. I had them replace three capacitors on an automotive circuit board from 1993 and the work was completed in a few hours. I didn't have an appointment and i picked it up the same day. The space is techy and the have quality equipment and polite service. I went here because thy work on tiny phone & laptop circuit boards so i knew mine would be no problem for them. read more

Sooo my laptop screen had a black distortion on the bottom of the screen and a huge line in the middle and I first took it to the Apple Store. After a diagnostic, an employee recommended me to get a new laptop instead and honestly, I was already hesitant since I didn't necessarily NEED one and was fine with the one I already had and just wanted to get my screen fixed. In addition, they said it'd cost around $700-750 for repairs given that my speakers would buzz whenever the volume would peak. So it was either have them fix it orrrr spend over 1k for a new laptop. Thank god my cousin recommended this place and let me tell you, I'm so so glad I brought my laptop here to get my screen fixed. The repair cost was definitely at my budget AND he didn't charge my speaker issue because apparently it was missing a piece that would prevent the buzzing lmfao (side eyeing apple rn bc I originally bought it brand new and wish I would've brought it sooner.) "Clever"Tech might seem like an overpromise, but far from it. A more accurate name for this business might be WizardTechs or MiracleWorkers. Here's the thing. If you own a relatively recent version MacBook Pro (mine is a 2020), you know that repairs can be very fragile. After attempting my own battery replacement, I saw some disturbing signs in my box including USB ports not working properly and some overheating issues. I even noticed one of my pins on the ribbon connector seemed a bit loose during my repair. But I had no way to fix it because these computer internals are almost like paper! I called Apple store and it was clear their recommendation would be a whole motherboard replacement for $1K. Realizing there might possibly be a better way, I called around. The only shop willing to work on it was CleverTechs. I spoke to Eduardo on the phone and he seemed to feel pretty clear what was wrong and that he could fix it. He even suggested a way to fix my board if indeed a pin was loose. True to form, Eduardo 100% fixed my box. He cleaned it inside and out, fixed a missing fan connector (that was causing my box to overheat) and soldered a whole new battery connector onto my board. All of this work cost me about $200-250, which was profoundly less than Apple's quote, and also a lot less wasteful. If you are desparate and afraid your box is toast (I was) you may have hope! I can't tell you how happy I was with their service!! I went into their store yesterday, Sunday (I was so happy they were opened then). The young man helped me right away. Needless to say, I walked in with an unworking computer and walked out just a few minutes later with it fully functional. The tech was able to fix it right on the spot. I brought in my PS5 for a tricky level 3 repair. Very few, if any other, repair shops even wanted to consider doing this repair. The daughter board on the disc drive had a torn connector, and fixing this is not easy. As a result, my PS5 stopped updating and would get stuck in recovery mode. The disc drive is married to the motherboard, so replacing just the drive is not simple. So I brought it to CleverTech hoping they could help me out. Sure enough, they were able to fix the circuit board connector (not very easy) and ensured the PS5 was now able to run updates. They kept me informed through a ticket system, and with quick turnaround time I was able to pick up my now working console! Very glad I went with them, and they definitely deserve 5 stars. The team here are miracle workers! My Pixel 5 died suddenly at the end of last year and would not turn on! I had over a month worth of photos and other priceless files that were not backed up. I asked Hussain to mount the CPU cooler for me since the diagram wasn't clear. He helped me and he charged me 50 bucks for it and I thought that was super reasonable. The reason why I am deducting a 5 star to what it is now is because when I went to ask for assistance with my graphics card, they say that it wasn't gonna work and how they're gonna charge me $350 to set it up when all they needed was riser, which was in the box. They told me my wires were messy, but really I just had to remove some and the reason for the cost was because they had a reconfigure when they didn't need to. Kind of feel like they're trying to scam me the second time, but maybe some of these ITX builds are outside of their scope. read more
