We've tried many Korean BBQ spots around Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam, so we weren't expecting to be blown away, but Kosoo truly impressed us. From the moment we walked in, we noticed how clean and fresh the space felt. There was no lingering grilled meat smell, and each table had its own ventilation system. The seating was comfortable, and everything looked well-maintained. We ordered Combo B for Two, which was more than enough for both of us--it could easily feed three. It came with: * Pork Belly 삼겹살, Marinated Rib Finger 양념 갈비, Marinated LA Galbi 양념LA갈비 * Choice of Soybean Soup or Soft Tofu Soup * Choice of Kimchi Pancake or Chives Pancake * BBQ Vegetable The meats were all excellent--nicely marinated, fresh, and tender. We especially liked the rib finger, and the pork belly had a great texture. The soft tofu soup had a comforting broth with just the right amount of spice. The kimchi pancake 김치전 was huge, packed with flavour, and filled with well-fermented kimchi. We really enjoyed it. Delicious! One of our favourite parts was the banchan (side dishes). Kosoo offers a wide selection, and everything tastes homemade and fresh. Refills were available on request, and the staff were very kind and responsive. We also appreciated how organized everything was. The team clearly cares about quality and presentation. It felt like a premium Korean BBQ experience without being overly fancy or overpriced. Overall, Kosoo exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious, the service was solid, and the atmosphere was clean and welcoming. This place is worth checking out. Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: 5/5 Kids: 4/5 Yay! Price: $60-$70 each person (dinner) Presentation: 3/5 Parking: [edited] * Public underground parkade directly below the building (paid parking) * Nearby street parking available (free for up to 4 hours) * Evergreen Line park-and-ride lot across the street (free parking after 6 PM) Tips: * Each location has a unique atmosphere and menu. * They have a private party room -- a great option for group gatherings or special occasions. * They offer a loyalty program -- perfect if you plan to go back (we probably will!). * They offer a discount on soju every day after 8 pm (happy hour). Would I Return: Yes ‍

Busy Saturday night. We got a seat after 15 minutes of waiting. We ordered one of their set menu, pancake, fried rice and calamari. The BBQ selection was OK, we've definitely had better meat quality at other BBQ restaurants. Pancake was OK, nothing special. Calamari was horrible - extremely chewy and tasted old. No flavor. The best thing on the menu was the kimchi soup and their marinated quail eggs (side dish). We didn't get any refills on the side dishes (not sure if they do that here). We spent $160 for two people, including taxes and tips. It wasn't worth it. During the time we were there, there were about 6 drunk customers at the table behind us and none of the staff bothered to come and check in on us. We felt unsafe, they were rowdy.

Really great stone pot lunch. I loved all the banchan that came with the ribs and rice, and the probiotic drink was such a cute touch!

The lunch sets at Kosoo Coquitlam have very generous portions and they come with up to 10 side dishes. The ventilation for their table BBQ is quite good and the grilled meat smell did not linger on my hair afterwards. Pricing for lunch is quite fair and there are plenty of options between $15-18. The staff here are polite and efficient. One thing to note is that they do not have their own parking lot.

I got the bbq set lunch (I think it was the Coquitlam style one) and the oyster set menu as well as the honey garlic fried chicken (not pictured here). I really wanted the raw crab but they said they were sold out.... even though we were probably the first couple of customers of the day. I think my favourite was the fried chicken! It came with fried rice cake pieces and the chicken was also crunchy and juicy. The bbq meats were a little tough for my liking. I always say this is a good place for the price but definitely not the best quality of food. I left here stuffed but not quite satisfied. Although the place was quite empty (no more than 5 groups on a Monday afternoon?) our service wasn't the best..... we weren't given chopsticks until we asked for them so that's something that stands out to me.... overall good for the price but I don't see myself being a frequent visitor.

Metro Vancouver probably like most urban town centres continues to grow with massive construction projects putting up highrise after highrise. Non-stop won't stop - is this the future ... now!? Coquitlam, east of Vancouver has exploded in growth, just like the rest of Metro Vancouver. I've tried several Korean restaurants in Vancouver & walked by Kosoos Korean BBQ on Robson Street a few times throughout the years. Never had a chance to try it - too many restaurant options & so little time. I scanned the menu & noticed several items were quite pricey. Post pandemic, everything has definitely gone up in price! Picked up the Galbi tang (Beef short ribs mushrooms, Glass Noddle, Hot stone bowl rice) - it was good but I found I needed to add some Kimchi to it to kinda spice it up. Kosoo Coquitlam, is a very cool swanky restaurant - it has beautiful lighting amongst a dark setting, traditional art & comfy seating. Service was prompt & helpful. Of note, Sai Woo in Chinatown (see my review) is a part of the Kosoo brand.

Having been to other Kosoo locations, I would prefer the ones in Vancouver over this one. Service was good and food came out relatively fast. Their menu is different from the downtown location. There's no fried chicken (something we were looking forward to so probs added to the disappointment..) on this menu. They did have a lunch special, but it's a minimum of 2 person per order and it's 23$ per person. They also have a bbq lunch special, again with the minimum of 2 people and vary in price depending on the protein choice. We decided the lunch special would give us variety and chose the pork galbi and bulgogi. There were 8 side dishes, including a clam salad, japchae, potato salad, beansprouts, kimchi, egg omelette with corn, kimchi pancake, and bossam (pork belly). Our favourites were the clam salad and the kimchi pancake. The japchae wasn't too oily and overly saucy. The kimchi pancake was crisp. The bossam tasted better with kimchi to cut through the fat. But actually the kimchi on its own was quite sour compared to other kimchis I've tried. The egg omelette was probably our least favourite as it didn't have much flavour. There is a choice of two soups and since we were both ordering the lunch special we tried them both. The soybean soup was flavourful and had plenty of veg in it. The tofu soup was quite disappointing. I found it to be super oily and it honestly didn't taste like anything much. We ended up moving the contents of that soup (tofu, egg, veg, and beef) to the soybean soup and leaving the broth. As for proteins, the bulgogi deceptively was a large portion. Plenty of beef and cabbage. Although it would have been nice to have a couple more mushrooms. The pork galbi was flavourful and tender. Overall, it was quite a lot of food and we ended up taking home leftovers. But I don't think I will be returning to this location. Based on its location (far for us) and the fact it has a different menu than their other locations. I wasn't wowed by anything and felt some of the items was disappointing. Maybe their bbq items are better? Also to note, it was hard to find parking! You have to park on the street but there isn't really any street parking close by. So we ended up circling a few times to find a spot (though we don't live in Coquitlam so maybe someone else knows about better parking?!).

Korean on Korean? I was in the Coquitlam area and a casual Korean friend recommended this place to me for some Korean BBQ. I have heard of this name before in the Vancouver area but never been to any of its locations. This place is located on the corner of Westwood Street and Lincoln Avenue in Coquitlam. The directions indicated for parking were a bit confusing so I just ended up parking on the street. Inside the restaurant was quite spacious and well ventilated. Pretty standard and typical Korean bbq style layout, but overall clean and comfy. Here was the food I ordered as the server looked at me as if I had a booga hanging out of my nose.... 1. Deep fried sea eel. I didn't realized how big the portion was until it arrived. It's almost a dinner just by itself. Taste wise it was okay but I found it a bit dry. (Yes size does matter sometimes lol) 2. Hot stone bowl rice (added veggies +$2). It was more like hot metal bowl rice lol. Nice and healthy. 3. Beef intestines BBQ. I don't know why I even ordered this, I normally don't even eat it (silly me). It was okay, the intestine taste was quite strong, maybe rub and rinse it with salt more to lessen the strong taste would be nice. 4. Kosoo Combo C (beef short ribs, marinated beef short ribs, marinated pork galbi, butter mushrooms, kimchi pancake, soft tofu soap). All the meats were fresh, tasty and tender. The kimchi pancake was a bit thin resulting in being too crispy to my liking. The tofu soup was more like a stew, too much ingredients too little soup. Overall, great value for the food and it's actually a lot more than I thought. With all the crazy side dishes (10 in total), it's more like a combo for 4ppl than 2ppl. The atmosphere here was quite settled and not crazily noisy like some BBQ places. And it's quite spacious as I like comfort and space when I dine out. The servers were friendly, attentive, and very informative of the menu and the food being served. Just like most Korean restaurants, service is at the touch of a button. (Sometimes for a second I feel like pressing that little button every 5mins to test their tolerance lol) The food was certainly really fresh especially the meat and great value. I also enjoy the side dishes, some efforts were put into them. I wouldn't say everything was great, but they were certainly satisfactory. Good recommendation by my Korean friend, I will be back to try their hot pots and other dishes.

    Friee Rice 1/2 container.

I order Uber eats today from Kosoo. Ordered the Fried rice with the Buy one Get one offer. The quantity of the fried rice is ridiculous. Container is not even 1/4 fill. You can see the bottom of the container. The fried rice is priced at $20 (buy one get one) They simple cooked one portion and split into 2 containers. It is basically lying to customers.

It's small but has quite many seats, the lady is very friendly. She gave me a photo album to order from which is so fun and I have never seen anything like this before and every restaurant should 10000000% do the same. I ordered the 酸辣肥肠粉 pork intestine sour spicy noodle(added an egg) and potato shreds cold stir凉拌土豆丝 Ok I have to to say, the potato dish is THE BEST i have had in canada and it is a very very high compliment from me, since I order that whenever I can. It's soooo good and I ate the whole plate in a few mins. The pork intestine noodle is so so, I wish there are more pork intestine, I had 4-5 pieces and they r quite small, the egg tho, is sooooo good, it's worth it to add one to the noodle. They also add a ton of peanuts so if u have allergies u need to tell them, they wont ask u. She also gave me a small ice jelly dessert for free in the end, it tastes so good??!!! I am so full at this point otherwise I would ask if I can eat a full portion one lol Overall I will come back!

This place is tiny, as in it can seat about 20 people, and every table had people and had piping hot food on each. Both me and my friend needed to wait a few minutes till someone left, and when we got seated, they gave us their regular menu, and later on gave us a picture book.. and if you guessed it.... everything on their menu with a separate picture. My friend ordered his bowl of spicy pork chop glass noodles in soup, and I had a dry version of spicy noodles with pork. We also ordered their deep fried tofu, deep fried chicken, and a plate of spicy cucumber. Every dish was done just right, and what I mean by that is that every hot dish seemed to be made to order, and it was confirmed when we spoke to the lady there. The spicy cucumber dish came out, and you can tell they use fresh ingredients, the cucumber, although the chili oil used was spicy, due to the freshness of the cucumber, was sweet too. The deep fried tofu had a nice hard outer deep fried shell, and yet the inside was soft and really hot, the chicken took the longest, but this was worth waiting for, with the thin deep fried batter, I don't think I have ever had chicken this hot in temperature, and it was great. Both noodle dishes were huge, and I wondered how my friend ended up eating all of his, I had to take 1/3 of mine home as it was too much. We also ordered a plum drink and a hawthorne drink and at the end was served complimentary jelly as dessert. This was a great meal and if you are in the area, I would recommend you try this place out.

You know it is legit when someone says their favourite Chinese restaurant is outside of Richmond and Vancouver, which are home to many delicious Chinese restaurants! Service was friendly. It was attentive at the start, but soon went downhill. We had to flag down the server to take our order, get our bill, and follow up on the congee that comes with the menu over $30. Despite being 1 of 4 tables, the food also took a while to come, but once one came then most dishes came quickly after (except for the tofu and congee). The servers were friendly, but just not attentive. We ordered 2 noodle dishes and 3 other dishes and prices were decent around $13-$15 per item. The stir fried beef noodles was well flavoured and not too salty. It was a touch greasy and some of the noodles were choppy, but it was the bean sprout/cabbage/onion that tasted off. It didn't taste fresh. The Shanghainese fried noodles was one of my favourites of the night. The noodles were a touch firm, but the flavour was pleasant - not too salty or sweet. The salt pepper pork chop came with fried garlic, onions and peppers. It wasn't overly salty, but the pork chop was dry and didn't taste fresh - tasted like it was frozen and just defrosted. The honey garlic spareribs was another favourite of mine. It was fried crispy and the flavour wasn't overly strong - not too garlicky or overwhelmly sweet. There are different versions of the fried tofu. Some restaurants make them with ample of stir fried garlic or onions and chili pepper. This version looked like squares of chicken nuggets with no toppings. It had a crispy coating and soft interior, but it definitely didn't resembled what the dish usually is. Overall, some of the ingredients and dishes didn't taste fresh, and we were utterly disappointed with the quality and taste of some of the dishes.
