This place is amazing. I had my first date here with my man a long time ago, and it has been my favorite restaurant ever since. Delicious food, stellar service, and I get three drinks, free of charge, by the time I sit down. Their chai and mango lassi is to die for. One of the best! We are so happy they have found a new home and are open again. It only takes me 7 minutes longer to get there vs. the old location on College. The new Address is right off of I-35 and 87th Street, 12112 W 87th St Pkwy, Lenexa, KS 66215 My family have been customers at Korma Sutra since the beginning, and with Mr. Singh since he was co-owner at Taj Mahal back when it was great. He is an amazing owner who focuses on his customers and the food is always wonderful. For people who judge the buffet against other restaurant's dinner menu, I say come back and have dinner here, the already great buffet food gets even better. Sometimes I have to eat at Korma 3 times in a week because everyone I go to lunch with wants to eat there. Sure the buffet is "less" than spicy, and this comes from a guy who eats and breathes HOT. But you can tweak it up with chutneys and fresh peppers, and dinner is never an issue. I like my food as HOT as it comes, my wife likes hers mild, and we never have reason to complain. If you are looking for the best Indian in KC, and some of the best service of any restaurant, this is the place! I travel a fair amount for work, both domestic and international, and I would rank Korma as one of my favorite Indian restaurants anywhere. For those who have commented about the "freebies" being charged for, I have been a customer for over a decade. Mr. Singh goes above and beyond in giving my son new foods to try, and having our favorite dishes brought out if they are not on the buffet. I've eaten here 3 times. The lamb baryani was the worst I've ever had out of 34 Indian restaurants in 20 years. It was basically rice with tomato sauce and dried out lamb. HORRIBLE. The other dishes I've had have been okay, but not great. Good service and some freebies given through the meal, but they either have a cook who doesn't follow recipes or they have a lousy kitchen head. Very inconistent. read more

What an incredible restaurant. First of all, the food was fantastic, but the service was over the top! We had saag paneer, tandoori chicken and garlic naan. Their lunch buffet is the best for Indian food I have ever had. The excellent food is matched by the amazing hospitality of the staff! It is a combination I highly recommend. Although the $11.50 price is not cheap, the value is much above average. The food. The favorite of the plentiful buffet was the outstanding butter chicken - creamy and the best flavor of this dish at any of three area Indian restaurants! Other very good dishes: Saag Paneer (curried spinach and cheese), Chicken Tikka Masala, Alu Tikki appetizer (mashed potatoes in fried batter), Veggie Pakora (vegetables deep fried), and Korma Sutra Chicken Soup. The hospitality. The staff acknowledges you as soon as you walk in the door. When we weren't seated immediately, a woman offered us a couple of appetizers on toothpicks while our table was prepared. When we were seated, we were served mango lassi and chai. As noted in other reviews, it is a bit confusing the first time when you are not aware that both beverages are included in the price of the buffet. Refills are offered, but not too much so. The owner has to be one of the happiest restaurateurs I've ever seen. He stopped by the table several times, offering small samples of fresh dishes and even ice cream, all on toothpicks - always friendly, brief stops, with a smile. It's a very nice touch if you enjoy being adventurous, trying dishes you might not have chosen otherwise. Fresh naan was also provided and the leftover pieces were wrapped in foil for us to take home. We first learned of Korma Sutra when they catered the annual Diya (Diwali Show) put on by the Cultural India Club at KU. Their catered food was so good we decided to try the restaurant. Perfectly fine strip mall Indian restaurant. Went once for dinner and once for the lunch buffet. Both were enlivened by the owner's comedy schtick and constant offering of freebie tidbits. OK, where do I begin? Let's start with the food. It's pretty good. Plenty of variety. Spiced correctly; some items are a little hot, but not overboard. The service is very attentive, especially for a buffet. They are constantly refilling drinks, bringing fresh naan (Pita Bread), clearing plates. Food and service are very good. Now, let's move onto the problem area of my visit. The owner/host is a very interesting individual. How do I put this nicely? He's BATSH*T CRAZY!!!! NUTS! COO-KOO! OK? Today he had an inflated red balloon tied to his ear. He walks around the restaurant engaging everyone/anyone, in what I believe, is an attempt to be funny. I think his heart is in the right place, but Dude! You need to turn the crazy down 10 degrees! He is constantly yelling across the restaurant at people. He has a bozo the clown squeaker toy in his pocket. He squeaks the toy very loudly and nonstop while yelling in your face, asking if you are enjoying your food. No joke. As fast as you can pinch this damn squeaker toy! Nonstop! I watched him physically trying to push a guy out of his seat, to go get more food from the buffet. A few people were laughing during this routine, most are staring in uncomfortable disbelief. The rest of the staff appeared to be ignoring him as he went off the rails. I'm not done yet. Then he comes out of the kitchen with a basket of food and tongs. He starts asking people if they would like some sweet naan. Most people said "No Thank You." He would grab a few pieces with the tongs and put it on their plate anyway. My plate included. He threw it down and yelled, "Sweet Naan, Eat it!" I poked at it with my fork, and realized the middle was covered in crushed red pepper paste. Others where not so inquisitive and just ate it. The guy next to me started breathing very heavy like an overheated dog, started chugging his water as his faced turned bright red. Good thing he wasn't allergic! Then Mr. Host proceeds to come out of the kitchen with frozen Mango ice cream, cut into squares, and a toothpick sticking out. Same routine, he walked around basically throwing it on everyone's plate. No one touched it this time. So, let's sum up. Food/service very good. Host should be committed to an insane asylum. This place is easily the BEST Indian restaurant dining experience I've ever had. Started with a free appetizer with some sort of crispy tortilla with some delicious spicy sauce. Ordered the chicken tikka Marsala and it was the incredible. It came with a mound of rice that was presented in a fancy metal topped dish. Was also given a delicious mango milk drink, some ice cream and some sort of delicious soft glazed munchkin glazed in molasses. Came here for the lunch buffet with some customers. There was a wait but man was it worth it! The food was great and varied. The meal came with a sweet yogurt drink which was delicious. The proprietor kept coming by to make sure we were doing great, sneaking snacks and treats and naan onto the table, inquiring about our happiness- it was a fun delight! all the talk yesterday about Korma was too much, I had to go to Korma South and get some of THAT. What the Westport location wins is selection, but what the South location wins is Charm, and the overtly rambunctious owner who tries to get you a. a beer, b. mango lassi, c. naan to go. He's a hoot, if anyone remembers him from way back he used to work at Taj Mahal way way back, and then I believed opened both Korma's with his brother or something. anyways, the food at Korma south is just as good as Korma Westport, the selection is however slightly smaller. I did notice yesterday that the dish i was refering to as "cream of wheat" is called halwa, which to me is like delicious or something. anyways, the garlic naan comes out pipping hot and the goat curry is delicious, the vegetarian dishes are AWsome and the owner/host guy is pretty funny. the place is pretty small and usually i have to wait to sit, but yesterday i got sat right away at 1:30. Indian food is really taking over Overland park with Korma, Ruchi, Masalas, etc. easily #2 for Indian Food, but second only to Korma Westport. read more

Non descriptions little Indian restaurant in a strip mall..but food was delicious, although maybe a bit too much on the 'spicy' side (so beware when ordering the spice level!) but delicious and authentic. Ordered the Shrimp Tikka Masala and okra, ordered garlic and onion naan..and friends shared their dishes as well! The friendly, quirky owner and his over-the-top happy greetings and all the little extra complimentary touches at the end of the restaurant (like chai tea, sweet dessert, refilled on mango drink..) were tipped only by the ritualistic lime/warm water hand wash at the table, earns this place a 5-star rating! read more

Why does your na'an have to be so good?!?! It makes no sense! I am new to the city and will be here on business for the next couple of months. This place is amazing. Wasn't even expecting the buffet when I walked in for a late lunch. Plenty of vegetarian options and the price was surprisingly reasonable for the amount of food and drink they give you. Everything was fresh and they give you na'an to go! It's so good. I'm not gonna lie I overdid it on the buffet and now I have the itis because I didn't really eat breakfast. We came for a Sunday buffet. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of the fresh garlic Naan, Chai tea, kulfi ice cream, and mango lassi....the rest leaves something to be desired. What they called briyani was anything but. Looked like sloppy Mexican rice and not sure that they even made it with basmati rice. There were other things on the buffet that weren't made right either. Great service! Very friendly. I wasn't sure if he was being funny or not at first, but soon we figured he (owner?) is a funny friendly guy. They made small non-spicy chicken plate for my son, and he loved it. Curry was a little too spicy for my husband, but perfect for me. I don't know how many ice cream sticks we got it lol (for free) and they also gave us free small desert, juice, chai tea, and balloons for my son. The service was much better than what we expected! Came here for a friends birthday dinner. We made dinner reservations and were ready for a fun night. We were seated at 6 and the last of our party (who we knew would be late) arrived at 6:20. We quickly placed our order around 6:45 and then were basically ignored the next 90 minutes. Multiple party members asked about our food to the servers. They reassured us that our food was coming for an hour and a half. Then when we became more assertive (we were hungry) a server put his fist up and said, "are you angry? Are you angry?" Two members of our table had to leave because the time the told the baby sitter had expired. The table next to us was served on platters and consistently given re-fills and basic service. We are the type of people who check ourselves - were we being loud and boisterous and inappropriate? What could we have done differently? We were a bunch of sober moms trying to go out for a birthday. One server owned up and apologized for the wait (he magically appeared - wish he had been our server the whole time) the others acted like we were out of line for asking about our food and wanting an explanation. Super disappointed. Normally the owner is very fun, but this night was terrible. read more

All I can say is AMAZING! It's smaller than the Westport location but not as pretty but the service is amazing. The staff was very attentive and happy, the wait for the food was not long at all. They provide you with a small appetizer, you receive your meal and at once you're done the lady comes and has you wash your hands with lime and water, once that's done you get a rice with milk dessert, and my favorite part... Chai tea! It's definitely an experience, I will definitely be back. read more

It's been a really long time since I've head such great customer service while dining. Staff was clearly working very hard to make sure our experience was enjoyable. We were so pleasantly surprised with all of the complimentary extras, such as: the mango lassi, unlimited naan, chai, and some sort of sweet frozen yogurt to finish the meal.
