I always order take out from here and there's never an issue! Cajun Boiled Seafood and crawfish always hits the spot.

We drove by this place during the pandemic and finally had dinner here. We enjoy a good Seafood Boil. Mia was our wonderful, knowledgeable, happy hustling server. She was ours (and others) bartender, server and cashier. She clearly knew the menu and was able to answer our questions. We really appreciate restaurant servers as the pandemic really affected them. We know restaurants are hurting and staff are expected to do so much more. Thank you to Mia for the service we got this Sunday evening.

Went here on a friday for lunch. I loved this place. The lunch specials were perfect with a serving of rice, a small potato and ear of corn. The corn was really good too! I loved that everything was swimming in butter and you could choose the seasonings and the spice level. For appetizers, we got the coconut shrimp, nine nicely battered shrimp with a sweet coconutty sauce and ghe calamari...probably 12 nice sized rings and two dipping sauces. The lunch special came with a choice of gumbo or side salad. The gumbo had a few pieces of okra and ham in a thickened broth...not a lot of substance but s very good flavor and a decent side for the meal. Very filling and delicious!

Saw someone post about this place on Facebook and decided to give it a try. There are a few boiled seafood restaurants here in KC, so I was expecting this one to pretty be the same thing. I was pleasantly surprised of how much better their food was compared to the place I normally go to. You really don't expect to get great tasting seafood here in the Midwest, but Seafood Island nailed it. It's not the freshest seafood that you'll taste, but it was delicious and flavored perfectly. Another thing that really sold me on this place is that they have softshell crab on their menu. Softshell crab is one of my all-time favorite foods and its rare to find it in the KC area (unless its in a sushi roll), so I had to jump on that. I ordered the softshell crab and and combo special that came with lobster, shrimp and crab legs. Seafood Island has a lot of variety, so you're sure to find something that you like. One thing to note is that the menu on their website has more items than the downloadable menu, so you may want to check out the one from the website before calling in your order and then confirm that they have what you're looking for. Website menu says that have softshell crab and gator, but the printable menu doesn't.

The food was amazing! Hot n fresh out the kitchen! Service was on point Joe did an amazing job despite some customers giving him a hard time. He still kept it in point. The place was a hit! Would recommend to others again!

Still sporting a bit of a Saturday night home quarantine PBR hang-over, I determined that some fried fish sounded like a great option. Seafood Island's combo B was a clear winner - 2 catfish, 4 shrimp, 5 oysters and onion rings ($16) and I added a side of corn-on the cob ($2) and boiled potatoes ($1.60). It was served with a bowl of Cajun garlic butter for dipping along with tarter sauce and cocktail sauce. The platter was a heaping pile of deep fried goodness with large pieces of all the seafood items and at least 15 o-rings. The bowl of spiced butter was a perfect accompaniment to help season the veggies and help clog the arteries. Certainly not the kind of feast I should have often, but it was a damn fine way to spend a half hour contemplating if Cajun butter or cocktail sauce is a better dip for my deep fried delectables.

We came here on a Saturday at about 7pm. We were meeting a few friends here, told the host that we had friends already seated to which she replied, "I don't know who your friends are". Yikes- slightly off putting. Once we were seated, our drink and food orders were taken pretty promptly. That's about as much as I can say for the service. We waited probably an hour for food and at least 30 minutes for each drink that we ordered. Service is lacking and I don't know if they can handle being open on the weekend. I will say, the seasonings on the boils are AMAZING. We ordered the combo E3 with the house seasoning and made it spicy. SO GOOD. The snow crab was not worth it and was overcooked. Overall, I would say pass on dining in here but maybe carry out would be better.

Been wanting to go there for a while...always very busy. Went for dinner, tried a variety of items. Had a fried basket: catfish, oysters, shrimp with waffle fries and also a Steamer Bag with Sausage and Shrimp. The fried basket was good, could have used some malt vinegar and the tarter sauce was just ok. The food items were great though. The sausage in the bag was great! Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely go back.

Our server, Carlos, acknowledged us quickly and efficiently brought drinks and appetizers. He was kind, patient, an understanding as we needed some time to look over the cocktail and food menus - they are very expansive! The food options ranged from seafood boils, to birria ramen, fettuccini Alfredo and more. The variety makes this a great stop for an indecisive group who might want differ flavors. And everything was magnificent - we truly like everything. I think we found one of our new favorite restaurant!

It is far better than the usual Tex Mex food. A few years ago, there was a Marisco (Spanish for seafood) restaurant in Lawrence, but unfortunately it closed. The seating is comfortable, the dining room attractive, the music enjoyable, the service excellent, and the food far better than the Mexican food we are accustomed to in Lawrence, although we are beginning to get Latin restaurants including South American food in Lawrence. The full bar options at Mariscos KC include an admirable list of nonalcoholic mocktails, but oddly no nonalcoholic beers, not even Corona NA beer. I got the iced tea which was provided with four slices of lime. I enjoyed it. We got the Ceviche Starter with both shrimp and fish. We enjoyed them, although either alone would have been fine. Next time we will probably get only the fish. We also got the Aguachiles Verdes (with green sauce), which was spicier than the Ceviche. We liked it a lot. Both the Ceviche and the Aguachiles come with crispy tostadas. You can spread the seafood on the tostadas or break up the tostadas and spread them on the seafood. We also got the Fish Filet with Shrimp, which were excellent. For dessert, I got the Churro Bites, which was provided in a surprisingly large serving. I had half of the dessert packed to go. Although the restaurant's specialties are Mexican seafood, there also are Italian and Cajun pasta options available. We will try them the next time we are there. If you arrive driving west from Kansas City on Shawnee Drive, continue passed the intersection with Interstate 35. You will then pass a main intersection with traffic light at Goddard Street. The next traffic light after Goddard is at Nieman Rd. Take a left onto Nieman Rd. heading south. The restaurant will be on the left (east) side of the street. We will be back --- for sure.

We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.

I usually come here for dim sum, and it is upsetting for me to say that my husband and I should've chose somewhere else to eat for dinner. For dinner, we ordered fried rice and chow fun. Those two main entrées were okay. You can't really mess up those two fillers at an Asian restaurant. We ordered scallion pancakes- they came out soggy and soft. Not even crispy like how they usually are. The flavor wasn't there either. If I wanted microwaved scallion pancakes, then I would've bought them from the store and made them myself. My husband ordered the short ribs- they were bland and tough like rubber. It had a funky taste to it that he couldn't describe and he had to force himself to swallow it because he didn't want food to go to waste. I ordered the chicken feet- this is one of dim sum's signature dishes and I am so upset I didn't even get to enjoy one of the dishes I always order. It was dry and the flavor wasn't there. The service was fantastic. They checked in on us and made sure our water was filled. The timing of the food coming in and out was fine. The ambiance was inviting. There was a sense of urgency and I appreciated that.
