I did an online order, one pound of head on shrimp, half pound of crawfish, with a side of sausage, Cajun sauce, extra spicy. Was it spicy? No. Did I get a pound of shrimp? Also no. I weighed the shrimp when I got home and I got .68 lbs. was it delicious and tasty? No. Will I come back here again? No. Overly salted, not well spiced or seasoned... crawfish wasn't fresh. I got the standard one corn, one egg, two potatoes. It just wasn't good.

I really love this place! its very peaceful and their sea food boils are very good!! my favorite food from this place is definitely their egg fried rice, its definitely the best fried rice ive ever tried, its rich and buttery in a way that makes you want to keep eating it!! I love this place and ive been coming here since early 2020 and its definitely one of my favorites seafood places to go to! the workers are also very friendly and this place is ALWAYS clean.

Small restaurant business. I'm a fan of seafood. I have been to New Orleans, great seafood there at a low price. So I'm kind of spoiled by the price and amount of food you get. Of course I know the price for shipping has to be in consideration being in Kansas City. I'd say a little pricey. But not by that much. First pic out of the bag was impressive. They use a rubber band to keep the lid close. Opening the lid you find a plastic bag. This took up space. So looks can be distracting. There was a fair amount of food. Drowned in butter, medium size diced garlic, your choice of seasoning, there's a few to choose. I chose Cajun of course, being a New Orleans fan. I found it a little too much salt for my taste. I did enjoy my meal. Seafood and BBQ/ finger foods, I love. If it isn't messy a little. You're not doing it correctly. So I enjoyed the fact, "It's messy." They do give you a bib and gloves for those who don't like licking the butter off your fingers. My taste in spice level isn't that of, " My mouth is on fire." But I like to sweat a little. Mild for me, Thank you. I did a walk in order to go. Service was speedy, but they weren't that busy either. I like, off the Country Club Plaza places. So if you're like minded. I would say give them a try. Support local small businesses. And decide for yourself.

Started out for dinner at Krazy Krab and the colorful sign for Crazy Crab caught our eye. We decided to give it a shot for dinner. Our food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. The Cajun spice wasn't too spicy. We ordered Hot but next time would probably do extra hot. Everything in the bag was flavorful and cooked just right! This isn't a formal place - it's super casual. They don't currently have any servers, but they were delivering the food to your table. Make sure you use the bin and gloves- you'll be glad you did!

The oysters were delicious and fresh, the seafood boil wasn't as spicy as I wanted. That was a real bummer. It was quick service and super convenient and it was a clean restaurant.

Crab legs, corn, shrimp and butter

I ordered garlic butter mild seasoning #1 combo and all I got was garlic. Shrimp literally taste like just shrimp. No seasoning at all. Like I'm headed to get something to season this food with. Every corn and potatoes is just sitting in butter. I can't finish this and I'm pissed because this is not what I paid for. I will not be returning

Tested this place out as I was in KC. The food smelled amazing. You def can tell when its fresh vs. frozen. For being frozen the snow crab was the best. I definitely would come back for those. Out of the flavors medium garlic butter love the chunky garlic cuts. The mix extra hot was the best out of the two. Even if that was no where near extra hot. Its takeout only due to road construction and covid. But I would love to experience the dine in ambiance as well. Friend got the fried oyster basket. Was not impressed, maybe because the oysters are not in season. A true seafood place would suggest something different.

I will give them a 4 star because the food is amazing, I love seafood and the sides, although I like them I wish they have more flavors to select from. everytime I have gone in there, there is always a wait and rightful so. the staff is friendly and diverse also very good at suggesting what to order. The spice levels are great. I personally always take friends or just my S/O and I but I always get the seafood combo which comes with crab legs, shrimp, corn, potatoes and egg. the food is soo good so I will happily pay what they ask for but I do not think they are reasonably priced.

    #7 All Mixed/Hot

I finally tried the city's "HOT NEW" seafood restaurant - CRAZY CRAB that had Social Media buzzing for the last few weeks. I must say that I wasnt terribly impressed. I ordered shrimp (head off) extra eggs & sausage Garlic Butter/Mild and a #7 combo that includes the crawfish, shrimp, potatoes, and corn - All Mixed/Hot. I added an extra 1/2 lb of crawfish hoping for the best. Soooo looking at the 1st order (Shrimp) it looked and tasted as if it was simply covered in butter. I barely tasted a hint of garlic. So we lose a star here. Now comes the #7 with the Crawfish. I wasnt impressed by the presentation. It looked as if all the seasoning was on TOP of the crawfish. But hey, its Kansas City, I can't expect Louisiana crawfish in the Midwest unless I cooked them myself. But hey a girl can dream right? I tried the shrimp first, not terribly bad but I was looking for that kick from the "ALL MIXED/HOT" sauce. Well ummmm it's been appx 24 hours later and I'm still waiting on it to kick in. But we aren't going to take a star yet. They are new let's give them a chance right..... soooo here's the make it or break it point. The CRAWFISH. My FAVORITE Seafood dish ever. I'm a Louisiana girl . I was ready to pinch the tail and suck the head and be in total seafood heaven and sadly that didnt happen. So here went the other star... I am literally looking at the season on my crawfish (which I'm not accustomed to) and I go to eat the crawfish tail and tadaaa there was NO flavor. I had to take the meat from the tail and rub it over the crawfish itself (that's where the seasoning was) in order to get some seasoning on the tail. I will say the boiled egg and corn were good. But $67 later and with allll the hype on Social Media, I was expecting so much more. The remodel from Chubbys to Crazy Crab is nice. The service wasnt terribly bad. The telephone number isn't listed anywhere on the business page on Social Media or the webpage that's not completely up and running as of Sunday 1/29/19. I found the telephone number by looking at other reviews and someone posted the menu displaying the number. You are unable to order online nor over the phone despite what the website says. To quickly compare it to the seafood restaurant across the street (I won't mention the name out of respect), I wouldn't count them out yet. I believe if they step up their game just a little bit, add a little bit more to their menu they will still be in the running. #SeafoodJunky #CrawfishLover #LouisianaGirl

Amazing to think JJ's has been a Kansas City institution for more than 41 years. It's one of the…read morecity's longest-running independent restaurants. Last night was our first visit. We were entertaining out-of-town guests, and with their hotel literally next door, JJ's seemed like the perfect choice. Before making the reservation, I read quite a few Yelp reviews. Opinions seemed surprisingly divided. Some called it one of the best restaurants in Kansas City, while others questioned the food, service, and value. I was hoping our experience would fall into the first category. Unfortunately, it didn't. One thing that's immediately apparent is JJ's extraordinary wine program. The wine list is extensive and impressive, and we enjoyed a wonderful bottle of 2021 Caymus. In fact, the wine was easily one of the highlights of our evening. Where the experience fell short was everything else. When you're paying $56 for Ahi Tuna and $79 for the signature JJ's Pride steak, the expectations naturally rise. Our server, who mentioned she had been there only two months, was pleasant, but the overall level of service never matched the caliber of restaurant or the prices. I look for knowledgeable recommendations, polished service, and a meal that flows effortlessly. We never quite felt that. We sampled several dishes that are frequently recommended. The Paco's Shrimp and the Steamed Mussels were enjoyable, but neither stood out. I was surprised that no bread accompanied the mussels to soak up the broth. When we asked for some, it appeared as a $5 charge on the bill. That felt unnecessary and left the wrong impression. The JJ's Pride steak was cooked exactly as requested and was probably the best entrée we ordered. The Ahi Tuna was my biggest disappointment. While it appeared to be cooked to the proper temperature, the heavy chili crisp topping overwhelmed the tuna's natural flavor. It simply wasn't as memorable as I had expected. Our total bill exceeded $600 (before tip), including $165 for the wine. At that price point, I expect an experience I'll be talking about for weeks. Instead, the evening was simply... good. Not bad, but not memorable either. Perhaps we ordered the wrong dishes, although many of our selections are among those most often recommended. I kept waiting for something that made me think, "Now I understand why people rave about this place." That moment never came. I'm glad we finally experienced JJ's, but based on this visit, I don't see us returning.
