I love a good seafood boil! This has honestly become my go to spot. They have good customer service and I enjoy how they make their boils. The place itself is clean and I appreciate the whole graffiti-esque route they took to enhancing their spot. They have a marker by the door to let you right your name or really anything just about anywhere in the restaurant. The restroom however was not the best; although it was clean, it smelled absolutely terrible. I couldn't even stomach it and had to leave without using it. I ordered the number 3 with all eggs and it was good! Sometimes they can be a bit heavy handed with seasoning which overpowers the taste of the dish so make sure you clarify everything when ordering. People have written on every inch of interior walls, lights, and paneling. Very cool and historic too. You order at the counter window and seat yourself. Self service on mints , napkins, and plastic ware. Lots of tables and booths for seating. Food was ordered then delivered to our table. Steaming hot and delicious. All the requested sauces were delivered to the table. Steamed oysters with real garlic and real butter sauce. Yummy! Egg fried rice delivered steaming hot and plenty to eat. Fried large shrimp with delicious hot sweet potato waffle fries. Fried catfish lightly crusted and flaky with plenty of home made fries steaming hot. Too much for us to eat so there were plenty for leftovers except the oysters. too good to leave. Prices are fair for so much quality food. Rice 10; fish and shrimp baskets 15; a dozen oysters 18. Total of $ 73 and I left a 10 for a tip for quality and quantity House specialties are steamed seafoods sold by the pound and include potato and corn in your selected sauce. Small restaurant business. I'm a fan of seafood. I have been to New Orleans, great seafood there at a low price. So I'm kind of spoiled by the price and amount of food you get. They use a rubber band to keep the lid close. Opening the lid you find a plastic bag. This took up space. So looks can be distracting. There was a fair amount of food. Drowned in butter, medium size diced garlic, your choice of seasoning, there's a few to choose. I chose Cajun of course, being a New Orleans fan. I found it a little too much salt for my taste. I did enjoy my meal. Seafood and BBQ/ finger foods, I love. If it isn't messy a little. You're not doing it correctly. So I enjoyed the fact, "It's messy." They do give you a bib and gloves for those who don't like licking the butter off your fingers. My taste in spice level isn't that of, " My mouth is on fire." But I like to sweat a little. Started out for dinner at Krazy Krab and the colorful sign for Crazy Crab caught our eye. We decided to give it a shot for dinner. Our food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. There are not too many Cajun seafood boils in the KC area, and Crazy Crab is my least favorite on the list. This is my second time trying this location and both times I was not impressed. The service is great and quick. Once I placed my order, It took less than 10 minutes for my food to arrive at the table. The food arrives nice and steaming hot. I ordered the shrimp (head on) with 1/2 lbs of sausage. You get a choice of 3 sauce flavors and if you would like to add an extra kick to your meal, you do have the option to select the spice level. I opt in for the hot all mix sauce flavor. I was most disappointed in the sauce. It was extremely bland, not even a hint of flavor. The spice level is not up to par than other Cajun boils that I've been to. I would have thought my second time would be better than my first. Tested this place out as I was in KC. The food smelled amazing. You def can tell when its fresh vs. frozen. For being frozen the snow crab was the best. I definitely would come back for those. I finally tried the city's "HOT NEW" seafood restaurant - CRAZY CRAB that had Social Media buzzing for the last few weeks. I must say that I wasnt terribly impressed. I ordered shrimp (head off) extra eggs & sausage Garlic Butter/Mild and a #7 combo that includes the crawfish, shrimp, potatoes, and corn - All Mixed/Hot. I added an extra 1/2 lb of crawfish hoping for the best. Soooo looking at the 1st order (Shrimp) it looked and tasted as if it was simply covered in butter. I barely tasted a hint of garlic. So we lose a star here. Now comes the #7 with the Crawfish. I wasnt impressed by the presentation. It looked as if all the seasoning was on TOP of the crawfish. But hey, its Kansas City, I can't expect Louisiana crawfish in the Midwest unless I cooked them myself. But hey a girl can dream right? I tried the shrimp first, not terribly bad but I was looking for that kick from the "ALL MIXED/HOT" sauce. Well ummmm it's been appx 24 hours later and I'm still waiting on it to kick in. But we aren't going to take a star yet. They are new let's give them a chance right..... soooo here's the make it or break it point. The CRAWFISH. My FAVORITE Seafood dish ever. I'm a Louisiana girl . I was ready to pinch the tail and suck the head and be in total seafood heaven and sadly that didnt happen. So here went the other star... I am literally looking at the season on my crawfish (which I'm not accustomed to) and I go to eat the crawfish tail and tadaaa there was NO flavor. I had to take the meat from the tail and rub it over the crawfish itself (that's where the seasoning was) in order to get some seasoning on the tail. I will say the boiled egg and corn were good. But $67 later and with allll the hype on Social Media, I was expecting so much more. The remodel from Chubbys to Crazy Crab is nice. The service wasnt terribly bad. The telephone number isn't listed anywhere on the business page on Social Media or the webpage that's not completely up and running as of Sunday 1/29/19. I found the telephone number by looking at other reviews and someone posted the menu displaying the number. You are unable to order online nor over the phone despite what the website says. To quickly compare it to the seafood restaurant across the street (I won't mention the name out of respect), I wouldn't count them out yet. All around an awful experience. Walk in and stood at the hostess stand for several minutes while two employees just stared at us. Apparently they aren't sitting families, you order at their take out counter and seat yourself. The best part of the meal was how fast food came out. But the server just slammed the food down on the table, didn't ask if we needed anything or say a word to us. I ended up going back up to the counter to ask for some ranch and again, the employee didn't say a word and tossed a kraft ranch packet on the counter in front of me. I ordered the lemon pepper wings, the wings came out breaded with a cup of the lemon pepper seasoning in the basket.. very weird so I poured the seasoning on the wings and tried to toss them myself. As I went to take a bite of the wing, I noticed it had little hairs baked into the breading, I found hair on every single wing. When I tried to alert the staff they didn't care, didn't take the wings back, offer to make me anything else just left the wings sitting on the table the entire meal. My husband got a boil bag and he seemed to enjoy it, a lot of food but he said everything was cold. Seafood in Missouri? That's a pretty tough find to find something like that in the middle of the country that also happens to taste good. Coming from California, I needed my seafood fix. This place was able to pull it off and satisfy me. Being one of the only Cajun boils, I had to give this a try. I got a combo between a pound of the clams and a pound of the shrimp. For the sauce, I got a mild sauce that was a mix of Cajun, lemon, and garlic butter. As the food came out in a bag, you opened it to get smacked right in the face of a nice Cajun aroma. With your senses all heightened, you end up finding yourself basically with a bag of seafood drenched in oil. It was so much that it ended up giving me a stomach ache from how much there was. The bag came with potato, corn, and an egg. The egg didn't go well with the meal and seemed out of place. The corn was probably the main star out of the meal as it was nice and juicy. The seafood was average as the shrimp shells were stuck onto the meat so as you were trying to peel, you were basically tearing off pieces of shrimp (aka overcooked). The clams were fine, quarter of them were broken so you get the occasional small pieces of shell that you may be chewing on. Overall, the food was decent and satisfied the occasional craving. The staff were very welcoming and always came by to strike up a conversation. If I could, I'd give a 3 to a 3.5 out of 5! read more

My first visit here when they first opened was great. I got a big, beautifully messy bag of tasty and spicy shrimp, crab legs, corn, egg, and potatoes. However, upon a second and third visit, it appears as though they've downgraded to vegetable oil or some low grade oil which drowns out all the seasoning and is of course disgusting.
