Fried shrimp and catfish combo, coconut rice
Haley W.

Imagine stepping back in time to when things were simpler, and you'll find yourself at The Fish Market. Just a good old place for all things fried fish, and one of their specialties fried gizzards. There are so many good things to try, and really can't go wrong, but we had the fried shrimp and catfish combo as well as the blackened catfish. We had a jumbo order of fried gizzards, and they were very tender and juicy! Other items we had were the coconut rice (wow this is good), hush puppies, cornbread..all the good fixings you can think of. Might be out of the way, but definitely worth the stop in, and they are famous for their ice cold beer. Final review: 5/5 stars

Horn High Hugo

Tonight as we sat at the ball field we decided to have The Fish Market. Ordering takeout on the app is so easy which is great for us. We decided on the Horn High Hugo as it would feed 2 adults and possibly a small kiddo. Our meal consisted of alligator, chicken strips, shrimp, and a crab cake: sides potato salad and hush puppies. Everything was very well done my husbands fav was the potato salad and hush puppies. I liked the alligator and shrimp. However I felt like the hush puppies could use a little more pizazz. Everything that's fried is in a corn meal breading just in case you not a fan. Overall it was good I got my fried food fix for awhile and the price was decent for the amt that was received.

First time eating here. I was actually quite impressed. Arrived around 5:30, so it was already getting dark. The place literally looked like a hole in the wall from the outside. We were immediately greeted upon entering and seated. Server came right away and took our drink orders. Ordered some hush puppies for an appetizer, which I didn't realize came with a meal when you ordered it. My mom and I ordered the large shrimp platter, which was 1# of shrimp. It was DELICIOUS and tasty with lots of flavor! I would highly recommend it! We also ordered the chocolate chip cookie sundae for dessert. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. The cookie was rather dry even with the ice cream on top of it. The strawberry cake was just okay, nothing really to brag about. The service was good and she kept our ice tea filled up for the most part. She had a bubbly personality as well. I would recommend this place. Don't always judge a place by the way the outside looks! We happen to be there on a night Santa and Mrs. Claus was visiting.

Jambalaya

Cute place that is definitely off the beaten path!!! I love that it's kind of in the middle of no where! The decor is so cute and gives ocean pier vibes! I got the jambalaya and it was pretty good. It was a little mushy compared to other ones I've had but the flavor was there and the bowl was huge. Definitely had leftovers. And the hush pipes are fireeee!!! Yum!! I would definitely go back and try other things on the menu!!!

The Fish Market offered a nice selection of food. We got the sampler platter called the Horn High Hugo. We tried 4 different meats and 2 sides - Catfish, alligator, flounder, chicken strips, hush puppies, and potato salad. The flounder and potato salad was my favorite! Great spot, we will be coming back!

Spicy gizzards

Stopped in for an early dinner and got a spot at the very small bar...5 seats but WELL worth it! Bartender was awesome. Started with an appetizer of spicy gizzards ....not crunchy but perfectly seasoned and tender. Beer is served in an ice cold mug and we split a jumbo shrimp and catfish basket!!! Catfish nuggets were very fresh and tasty! Would DEFINITELY recommend this hidden gem

Gumbo
Zabeth C.

Food was tasty and fresh - seasoning was on par. Will be back. I especially loved : Conch fritters (packed a punch) Gumbo (love the flavors) Jambalaya (chef kiss) Jalapeño corn bread (moist and warm) Fried alligator (it does taste like chicken) Hush puppies (fried taste best) This place had excellent service. This was our first time eating here and our waitress did a wonderful job at walking us through the menu. Cons: Poor parking Sweet tea needs to be sweeter

Coconut Rice

I usually go here for the smoked fish, which is pretty good but it's like 23 bucks and they give you a side of coconut rice which is always burnt in a very small serving and whatever other side you choose but they should stop selling the coconut rice if they are always gonna sell it burnt and that's really the only flavor you get from it and they give you a very small serving like each time I've gone. It seems like I've gotten a very last of the rice and it has a strong burnt flavor

The ambience is laid back and relaxed while simultaneously maintaining professionalism. It could be a tad quieter but that does not deter us from giving Saltgrass our highest recommendation. Nor should it deter you from taking Saltgrass for a test drive. The food is cooked to perfection including our ribeyes, the green beans I had, the Brussel Sprouts my wife had, and the wedge salad I opted for. It would be remiss of me to not mention the drop-dead GREAT strawberry cheesecake. Set aside hour diet because It's a must have. We'll certainly go back and ask for Xavier when we do. Do your senses a favor and give Saltgrass a whirl as we did. It's not an inexpensive restaurant and worth every penny. My best guess is you'll be happy you did.

I never went thirsty, her menu suggestions were excellent, and she connected on a personal level, which really stood out. She even took a moment to compliment my new ink. She is exactly what you want from a Saltgrass server. One of the things I really appreciate about Saltgrass is the consistency across locations. The menu has a wide variety of options, and everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. The bar setup was well thought out, with menus and silverware already at every seat, which made settling in easy without having to ask for anything. Parking at Liberty Commons was free and easy, which was a nice bonus. The only downsides were minor facility issues. The temperature at the bar fluctuated a lot. It was extremely hot at first and then suddenly very cold, so the HVAC did not seem well balanced. Also, the water pressure in the men's restroom was almost nonexistent, which is not great when it comes to handwashing. That said, the restaurant itself was clean. Overall, a very solid visit with excellent service, and I would absolutely return, especially if Emily is behind the bar.

Honestly I was happy this wasn't an upscale restaurant because I would have been embarrassed by my lack of etiquette as there's just no way to "properly" eat this meal. This is definitely a "dining experience" and Oh, so worth it!

Parker Hollow - A Must-Visit Gem in Downtown Parkville My…read morewife and I had the pleasure of dining at Parker Hollow last night, the brand-new spot in downtown Parkville, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. We were lucky enough to snag seats at the Chef's Table, which put us right in the heart of the action--and it's hands-down the best way to experience this restaurant. Owner Johnathon Justus greeted us warmly and spent the evening guiding us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm and expertise. His passion for the food and the space is infectious, and he made us feel like VIPs the entire time. The remodel and decor are stunning--modern yet cozy, with thoughtful details that make the dining room feel both elegant and welcoming. Every corner of the restaurant reflects the care that went into bringing Parker Hollow to life. Service was impeccable: attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. The drinks were spot-on--creative, balanced, and perfectly executed. Now, the food--where do I even start? * I kicked things off with the Caesar salad topped with catfish nuggets. The nuggets were crispy, flavorful, and a fun twist on a classic. * My main was the hangar steak, cooked to absolute perfection (medium-rare, juicy, and tender) alongside crispy French fries that were golden, salty, and addictive. * Johnathon surprised us with a complimentary bite of crispy skin salmon with an Asian dipping sauce--flaky, rich, and that sauce? Chef's kiss. My wife ordered the octopus and pecan blue cheese salad, and she hasn't stopped raving about it. The octopus was tender, perfectly charred, and seasoned just right--easily the best she's ever had. The blue cheese and pecans added a wonderful crunch and depth. The cooks at the Chef's Table were just as engaging as Johnathon, happily walking us through their techniques and answering all our questions. It felt like dining with friends who happen to be culinary wizards. Verdict: Parker Hollow is a 5-star experience through and through. The Chef's Table is a must if you can book it. We're already planning our return--this time to try the fish collar. If you're in the Parkville area, do yourself a favor and go. You won't regret it.

Bringing Jonathan Justus's culinary talent back to the Northland feels like a win for the entire area--and from a selfish standpoint, having a raw bar this close to home is a real bonus. The space itself has been beautifully reimagined from its former Italian roots. The bar and chef's table anchor the first floor, while the dining room upstairs feels intimate and inviting. Thoughtful holiday décor and warm music gave the evening a comfortable, almost at-home feel--upscale without being stuffy. We had an early 5:30 p.m. Wednesday reservation. A few guests were already seated when we arrived, and by the time we left, every table was full--always a good sign for a restaurant just three months in. We started with the Pecan Pear Salad, followed by the Steamed Mussels, and finished with the Salmon. The salad was a standout--my wife especially loved the pears, which added a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. The mussels arrived in a tangy parmesan broth with vegetables and were plentiful--15 mussels in the bowl. A couple of small details would have elevated the experience: small forks for the mussels, a separate bowl for empty shells, and perhaps more baguettes. The baguette itself was heavily grilled, which slightly overpowered the broth. I had seen a video of the Scottish Salmon before our visit, beautifully plated, so presentation-wise it didn't quite match that expectation last night. That said, the portion was generous, and the salmon itself was tender, juicy, and well-prepared, which ultimately matters most. Dessert is where Parker Hollow truly shines. We ordered the Sherry and Thyme Poached Pear and the Pecan Coconut Tart, and both were exceptional. The pear dessert, in particular, was a work of art--visually stunning and perfectly balanced in flavor. Service throughout the evening was friendly and attentive. Given that all food has to be carried upstairs, the pacing was solid overall. The only notable delay was with our cocktails, which took longer than expected to arrive. All in all, Parker Hollow feels like a confident addition to the Parkville dining scene--polished, welcoming, and clearly finding its rhythm. We're looking forward to returning, especially to explore more of the menu and the raw bar.
