What can I say! This Chinese-Korean restaurant is as good as it gets, and they cook it fresh too. So yummy. So we came here in a Saturday noon, just in time to eat some lunch with family.
My brother and his family recommended this place, and said they serve great Korean_Chinese food. So I was so excited to try this restaurant out.
They have a big dining room area, and food came out hot and it was really good. So we ordered the following:
SOUP: Westlake soup - this was a good appetizer and it was cold outside, so we ordered this soup that had diced ham, peas, eggs, green onions in a typical slightly thick broth. It was good for starters. 3/5 but was tasty and more ingredients makes it a hearty appetizer.
MAIN ENTREES:
JAJANGMYEON: I came here to try their Seafood Black Bean Sauce Noodles. The noodles are made of flour, water. It was supposed to be chewy in texture, but still easy to cut with your teeth. Then the black sauce had some garlic, green onions, onions and other spices and with seafood chunks. This so far is excellent that I had as for this dish. 4.5/5. Always served in big portions, and it was really great. It's hearty, comfort Korean food, and it really feels good. This is really filling.
KOREAN STYLE SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN: This is a deep fried battered chicken, and the Korean sweet and sour sauce is different from the Chinese counterpart. This sauce is slightly clear, little sweet with pineapple juice or some type of syrup which Koreans use. It has also some vinegar, and other chunks of pineapple, thinly sliced raw Vidalla onions, carrots, cucumbers and some mushrooms. This sauce is clear, slightly sweet and sour but it is clean. It complements well with the Jajangmyeon. The deep fried battered chicken is fresh, so it's piping hot, not too greasy, and the batter is still crispy. 5/5.
KOREAN SPICY CHICKEN WINGS: Chicken wings have been deep fried, and it is stir fried with a sweet and spicy (Szechuan peppers on top) with carrots and peas. This was a game changer, and it was really good. I would order this again next time. Make it mild, and others can eat this. 6/5.
HAPPY FAMILY: A Chinese dish that has snow peas, mushrooms, carrots, mussels, squid. I didn't eat it. It was your typical Happy Family dish. 3/5.
BANCHAN:
RAW WHITE ONION CHUNKS WITH BLACK BEAN SAUCE: side dish that goes with the Jajangmyeon.
KIMCHI: it was OK.
PICKLED RADISH: it was OK
FOOD: I would come back for more to try other dishes, and get the Korean sweet and sour chicken, Spicy chicken wings and choose a different dish on the menu. It was so good, and wanted more. If you ordered one of their noodle dishes especially the Jajangmyeon. I don't think you need to order steamed rice(it wasn't necessary). The sauces and their dishes are all flavorful, and it was out of this world. Portions are moderate to big/ 6/5.
AMBIENCE: Dining area is pretty big, so families and big groups can reserve seats and eat here. From all walks of life, people like to eat here because it was unique. 4/5.
CLEANLINESS AND ORGANIZATION: I highly recommend this establishment for being clean compared to a Chinese owned restaurant, where in they skip some attention to details. Like glasses, silverware are sparkling clean, no residue is found.
SERVICE: A young male server helped us, and when it was getting to busy. The older woman helped out to get the food out. Service is great!!! They treat you politely, courteously, and apologize when they forgot to you drinks and such. 5/5.
OVERALL: 5/5. A Korean-Chinese restaurant that is very casual and welcoming. You don't get rushed and have a good time eating. The food here is excellent which is served like Chinese but there are some excellent Korean food as well. They take great pride and care on making their sauces, and the dishes taste excellent. A way that Chinese-Korean cuisine should taste like. The owners are friendly, it is family owned, and like the service too. I will definitely come back here again to try more dishes, and get some of my favorites here.
