I've been going to the same salon since we moved out here 7 years ago, but one Saturday afternoon I needed a last minute appt and it was close to closing time at my usual spot. Called a few places and finally found Kool Nails. Ironically, we've lived down the street for years but never tried it because of our loyalty to our first salon. They were super nice about it being late in the day on a weekend, unlike other shops I called. I needed to remove my existing dip and get a gel manicure, so it wasn't necessarily a quick fix. They were so friendly and accommodating. I didn't feel rushed even if I was the last client (and the only one left). The nail tech took her time and was so sweet. I love that they have a punch card system too. Will definitely be back! read more

So I will say Tony is a nice guy him and his wife Katy own the salon, and are the only two employees at the moment according to Tony. Unfortunately nice people doesn't always mean good service I am in search of a nail tech and wanted to try a new place but I seriously do not recommend this one. As much as he tried, the nails they do just aren't in style and he had the audacity to go on for ten minutes about how the nails I wanted were "Scottsdale nails" he couldn't do them. they denied me the first 5 set I asked for and when I finally got to the simplest one Tony said he could do them so I settled just happy to be at the nail salon. Now I'm still regretting the nails and as much as I didn't want to pay I didn't have it in me so $90 later!!!! And this man had the audacity to tell me people would be charged $140 somewhere else for this set!!!!!!! Maybe at a high end salon that provides decent service but not here. This is what I got (THE BLUE SET) when I will also attach what I asked for (the example is purple) The only mail that's even remotely okay is the flower mail but as you can see my middle mail flares and they aren't even square. The "French tips" ruin it for me. he also put tips that are way to small so the corners are still two days later squeezing my nail/finger and it's constant pain I've tried bending the nail to try and relieve some pain and I can not. Tony also cut me not once but three times with the drill. I am just overall really upset and can only blame myself for ignoring all the red flags. Hoping to help someone else out read more

I'm a pretty active guy when I'm down in Arizona. Hiking, running, walking. Just getting outside and enjoying the weather is my goal. Because if this my feet take a pounding and a little maintenance is not only warranted but also a nice treat I give myself. Service - the owners are also the staff. They are very friendly and accommodating. They are interested insuring you have a good experience. They do walk ins and appointments and even on short notice. This is what sets them apart. Atmosphere- it is a nail salon. Pretty much the same as any other. Value - easy to work with and great work. Tyne value is there for sure. I will continue to go here when I'm in Mesa. I even have the frequent flyer card. Location - located in a strip mall off of Sossamon and Baseline. They are right next to The Hub Bar and Grill. Rating - rating them on 1 to 5 painted nails. My first trip here was pretty normal, I came in for a full set of acrylic nails and a cute flag design. Everything went fine and at the end I was charged $65. Which I thought was pretty normal. Now for my second trip in. I called in prayer so that Tony would know what I was coming in for. He was clearly confused when I came in and said that I did not want the pedicure he thought I was getting. I was there for a fill and repaint of my nails. The entire time he kept talking about a prior customer that he had trouble with. After he had finished telling me his entire side of the story, he mentioned that my nails would be $55. I was so taken back I didn't say another word the entire time. 55 for a fill and paint. On what earth. Not to mention the nail design that I picked was not followed. I will not be going back, and I don't recommend others go either unless you want to spend an arm and a leg. I was very disappointed in Tony's professionalism my second trip. read more

Admittedly, I was a walk-in. I arrived at 9am and there were no other customers. At first he mumbled something about appointments, then he decided to take me. The next customer didn't arrive until 915 am. I requested a fill-in and a pedicure, white tip. Tony appeared to be offended by my request, as if he was not ready to work. During the fill-in, he bullied me when I accidentally hit my nail on the plastic sheet. My pedicure was a smidge better.... I mean what can you do with a pedicure??? I have knee braces on both knees and he kept pushing my feet/legs to accommodate him. I was rather angry but did not express during the process. He treated the customer that came in much nicer. I was left wondering if it's the color of my skin. The fill-in was 50.00/the pedicure was 37.00. BTW, HE ASKED ME IF I HAD CASH BECAUSE ACCORDING TO HIM (no signs anywhere) there is a bank surcharge if you use your credit card. I felt a definite negative vibe and will not be returning read more

I returned for a 2nd visit and Tony, the owner was very surly and began to raise his voice to me, I repeatedly asked him to stop this all took place within a span of approximately 3 minutes but he con tinued, He stopped working on my nails saying "we're done here" and instructed his wife to stop doing my husbands nails. He then said "there would be no charge" which was fine because I would not have paid for the privilege of being verbaly abused. He continued his tirade while following my husband and I to the door. I have never experienced such rude behavior in a nail salon or anywhere else. Sure, they do a good job, and the gentleman is more personable than the woman owner, but when I'm waiting 30 minutes when I show up on time for my scheduled appointment, that's not right. I can understand waiting 10 minutes, because things happen, but 30 minutes when I have an appointment? No. They are either over-booking, or taking walk-ins ahead of their appointments. I don't like this form of business practice. It does not bode well for loyal customers, and when this happens, I leave and I don't come back. The owners should realize that some customers won't put up with this - it's rude. There's plenty of nail salons out there. read more

This was hands and feet down my best mani/pedi ever! I discovered Kool Nails by accident when I went to Phoenix, AZ to pick my hubby up at Skyharbor. I was very early and as I was driving around Phoenix, to stop at a friend's, a young man was broken down by the side of the road on his way to work. I allowed him to use my cell to call his mom as he was having problems with his. It turned out where he was headed was only a few miles down the road. After making sure with his mom that it would be alright to give him a ride to his job and giving her my name-she already had my cell, I dropped him off in a nice little shopping center. The restaurant he works at happened to be just up from Kool Nails. I had intended to get a mani-pedi waiting for my hubby's flight to get in, so this worked out perfectly. Unlike others, I had no problem getting the advertised special. I walked in, was greeted, seated and spoiled to a T. I think I wore the massage chair out. I loved the various aromtherapeutic pedicures available, chose one and just luxuriated in the wonderful scents. This is the only place I have so far seen offering this type of pedicure. I will keep coming back anytime I am in town either passing through or visiting my lil sis and her clan. The place was very clean and did not have that noxious stench of the various chemicals in use that I have experienced in some places. Everone was very friendly and we made idle chitchat throughout my pedi. I would have also gotten a facial, but due to everyone being busy and only little more than an hour to closing, that did not happen. It was a wonderful and relaxing experience. I was completely satisfied and can so totally recommend this establishment. The next time I am taking my sis and her daughter for some girl time. While it is not free, I think the prices are more than just reasonable for what is offered and what you get. read more

Tony and Katy are a husband and wife team at this location. They work diligently so as not to rush anyone, and ensure the quality of work being provided. Since there are 2 people working, I suggest making an appointment, and then calling ahead to see if they are running on time. This will eliminate any wait time frustration. Katy is extremely gentle and really strives for perfection. Tony has a great sense of humor and is agreeable to most any crazy nail polish I want to put on my nails. Had a horrible ingrown toenail that was starting to bleed underneath the nail and showed the beginning of infection as it was starting to swell... Randomly found this place and called to make an appointment. We were seated as soon as we arrived, no one else was in the shop. The tech painlessly removed the chunk, gave tips on using Epsom salt and did a fabulous job on the rest of my toes. This is a small shop that appears to only have a couple of techs, but it was nice because I didn't feel rushed out of the chair like at super busy shops.
