3.5 stars. Koi Palace is located in Dublin Ulferts Center Plaza on the second floor. There is a parking lot available with fair amount of spaces, but can be challenging at times during peak hours. This is also true for wait times, particularly in the morning and early afternoon on weekends; reservations are best for large parties if you do not want to wait. Overall, their dim sum is pretty solid and food has been fairly consistent over the years. Service is quick, but the quality of service can be a hit or miss. Lastly, pricing is on the higher end for dim sum, especially with the automatic 18% service charge. read more

Far from my expectations, Koi Palace surpassed it! Visiting California, I never thought they would have a good Chinese dim sum restaurant out in Dublin. And they do! The ambiance looks amazing, kinda modern and very clean. Kudos to the chef, the food is amazing. Koi Palace remains busy as always, but this is about their mooncakes. They always have fancy boxes for their mooncakes. But I like the " modern" flavors of matcha, taro, ube, red bean, winter melon, lava mooncakes ( all mini sizes ) surrounding a lotus mooncakes with double egg yolks. I wish I could give zero star. Service: the guy who was our server was just not happy from the very beginning. First he compliant that he called our name on waiting list for so long but no one responded. No smile no greeting, just grumpy face. He was just trying to get his job done with any politeness or gestures. He also messed up one of the dishes we ordered, but no appology and kinda blamed us on that. I was there very busy with two of my kids and chatting with friends I haven't seen for so long, so did not bother to ask for a new dish or refund. In the end when were paying they added 18% of service charge after tax for table of only 5 people. 18% of charge for the worst service ever. I think this is illegal to charge the service fee for small party. I should have request refund on that. This restaurant is the worst!!!! Avoid! read more

This was the second time that I went to Koi Palace where I was treated as a second class citizen because my dinner party was not in their network of usual customers. My sister came to visit for the long weekend and I thought it would be nice to take her out for some Chinese food delicacy. We entered about 6pm and expected to wait. We then received a number and the lady told us the table would be ready shortly. We saw people came in, probably with reservations, where the hostess and seemed to be the manager greeted them as if they knew them. Therefore they didn't have to wait or given a number. Understandably so because they might have had reservations. One party spoke in Chinese handing them a bag saying "this is for you." About 20min passed, two more parties came in after, no updates only my number appeared on the wait screen but there was no other numbers showing...so I was looking around and saw some empty tables. I asked the manager how long and he probably saw me looking at the empty tables, reacted annoyed at my question, he rudely said something like I can't have the table (without me asking about it) and blurted something under his mask. Then the hostess told us to go outside. At that moment I was not in the mood to eat there anymore. But because my sister was visiting, I didn't want to make a scene. We ended up going to the other side that had a separate room--no staff guided us. The first time that I felt I was treated badly was the Koi Palace in Daly City where they placed my husband and I by the restroom with an add-on table where no one came around to check on us. That was during dim sum hours. Thought that dinner and different location would have been better. Not at all! Never going back and if anyone mention Koi Palace I tell them the same story. KOI Place Restaurant hasn't been around for too long, but a few years ago, this location was home to a Japanese sushi buffet. Now, it's competing with the wave of new eateries in the area. Fortunately, KOI's dim sum is flavorful and remains popular among customers. While they don't serve dim sum from traditional carts, the menu is well-organized with detailed descriptions and photos, making it easy for first-time visitors to order. Their Xiaolongbao (Shanghai Soup Dumplings) lean slightly on the sweeter side but are still quite tasty. The restaurant is clean, including the restrooms, and the service is attentive. Be prepared to wait on weekends, as the place tends to get busy. Definitely worth a visit for dim sum lovers! read more

Wish I can say I had a better experience because the food was so good! I've been here a couple times since I grew up in Pleasanton/Dublin but it's been a while since I had some good dim sum. My friends and I went for a little girls day brunch and decided to make a reservation since it gets busy here. Called and said we would be running 5-10 min lates, and they immediately said our table is gone in a rude tone so we just went hoping there would be a table for us. Went inside and the restaurant was near empty and ended up giving us a table in the far back corner next to where the dishes come in and out. Already, a little annoyed, we asked if we could move to a different small table which we saw were open but they kept saying no, so we stopped asking. Food was amazing- honestly everything we had was really really good. Got the chrysanthemum tea (delicious!) to cleanse our palette and got all assorted types of dim sum. We stopped by for lunch on the way back from Monterey. While we didn't make a reservation, we were able to grab a table for 2 at around 10:30am on a Sunday. Located in a plaza, 2nd floor. We decided to do a reservation on Yelp for Monday at 11a. We were able to park right away. Not a lot of customers yet but would suggest doing a reservation. As we sat down, they asked what kind of tea we want - jasmine, black, green, etc. As someone who's a first time, it would be great if they explained how the menu works. Apparently, you have to fill out their menu using pencil to your order. We didn't know this until we were ready to order. Plus, they staff were standing all around us, just waiting to take plates off your tables. But to be honest, the food is actually delicous. Chicken feet. Siumai, hargow and crispy noodles. Koi Palace is a solid spot for dim sum. The service was quick and we received our items in a timely manner. Maybe they were a little too swift, as they forgot two of the items that we marked down. No biggie though! The ha gao and siu mai were plump and flavorful, but the stars of the show were the lotus leaf chicken sticky rice and shrimp rice rolls. The sticky rice had a nice soft texture and was packed with flavor. The rice rolls were very smooth and silky. I would say the price is more on the higher end for dim sum, but it is worth the splurge once in a while. read more

I have not seen any restaurant whose staff from the reception to table waiters and waitresses who are absolutely rude and inconsiderate. I made reservations with Yelp over 24 hours in advance and confirmed with Yelp 3 times. It didn't matter. The check in receptionists ignored me and asked others who didn't not have reservations and stood in front of our 82 years old parents. No we had to wait first served. I won't go there ever again. Their foods are not that great. I hope the owners and managers at Koi Palace would consider train their staff to be kind, polite, considerate and civilized. read more

But I'd like to share some honest feedback from my recent visits. First, I noticed that you now include an automatic 18% gratuity, even for parties of just two people. I remember it used to be 15%, which I was fine with. But if you're going to charge 18% automatically, the service really needs to match that level. Every single time I visit, I ask for hot sauce and soy sauce -- and every time, there seems to be an issue. Honestly, it shouldn't be that hard to bring those to the table. On top of that, water is rarely refilled unless we ask multiple times, and even then, we often have to wait a long time. I'm not trying to complain just to complain -- I love your food and I want to continue supporting your restaurant. But at the prices you charge (which are not cheap), and with the automatic tip, I do expect a better level of service. Koi Palace wasn't our first choice for dinner on Saturday, August 2, 2025. My family and I had already been to Chubby Cattle, where we had waited in line and signed up on the waitlist. The wait time was a whopping five hours! So, we decided to try Harumi Sushi & Chako Korean BBQ, both of which had a one-hour wait. We were starving, so we finally decided to head to Koi Palace. We arrived at 6:10 pm and were seated right away. The food was delicious! As expected, the customer service was standard for a Chinese dim sum restaurant. Shanghai dumping was brought out to our table last, after a while. I had to remind the waiter about it. There was an 18% service charge included in our bill. 4++ Some high quality, delicious dim sum with a pretty extensive selection that includes the classics. This could be considered the best in the area and I wouldn't disagree. I know my parents are a fan. Every time I've been here, I thought the service was fine to good. It seems to always be super crowded, especially on the weekends, so there's sort of a frenetic energy vibe until you get seated. Even then, it still feels a little chaotic. Been here plenty of times over the years, but my most recent visit was in November '23, where a couple of friends and I took my parents and aunt for brunch. We got here almost right at opening so we didn't have to wait too long, but can tell lines were growing fast. Once we got seated, we got down to business along with our tea order. We ordered some of our favorite staples like the crispy taro (a personal favorite), shu mai, ha gow, among other dumplings. Also ordered some more expensive items that my mom loves like the abalone. Everything was great. I can't imagine how difficult it is to have this level of quality on so many different items, but glad to be on the receiving end. I grew up in this area and there was a glaring dearth of great dim sum places and pretty much Asian restaurants in general. There is also a sense of entitlement that I feel is prevalent with this area as well, having worked some restaurant and customer service jobs myself growing up here. So out of curiosity, I read some of the one star reviews to get an idea to see if I missed something.... one of the reviews early started with "we were letting our little princess run around"...I tried to read further, but my eyes rolled back so hard, it was physically impossible. Besides, the sweet spot for a lot of Asian spots is between 3-4 star average anyway, factoring for some overly entitled clientele. I personally am a big fan of this place. The dim sum is excellent--fresh, flavorful, and with a huge variety. Favorites like har gow, siu mai, and cheung fun were all spot-on. Service was fast and efficient, even with a packed house. Food came out hot and the carts kept rotating quickly. The ambiance is lively and elegant, perfect for a classic dim sum experience. I've had rough service here before but our waitress was patient with my terrible Cantonese and I'm glad they just clarified what I wanted instead of making fun of me. However, despite the quality service and great food that visit, I left with an icky feeling once I got the check. It includes a service fee, an option to tip with percentages, AND another section requesting for more tips under that. We took our Manager here for her Birthday to satisfy our Dimsum craving. It was a Thursday around 1:30pm, we were seated right away with no wait. Restaurant was spacious and clean. Ordered a few items and it was good. We told our server that it was our Manager's birthday hoping they would give her something like a complimentary dessert, but instead they recommended that we order the Long Life Bun instead. Servers seemed very anxious to deliver your order and to clean up your table. I poured myself a cup of tea before we left and saw the waiter's reaction in disgust that I interrupted his clean-up. We had dim sum with friends today at Koi Palace in Dublin. Overall, the food was good. Enjoyed their chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, sui mai (shrimp, pork, & mushroom dumpling), steamed spare ribs, fried glutinous dumplings with diced pork, shrimp rice roll, and especially the honey glazed crispy fried chicken wings. Their steamed veggie & pork tofu wrap in oyster sauce tasted good; however, I thought it had proportionately too much veggie in it compared to the pork. We also ordered the pan fried daikon cake and crispy fried taro puff. I tried them. To me, they were okay. However, I don't normally eat them so I'm not the best judge of the 2 items. I was disappointed in the crispy hand-roasted pork belly. It was on the dry side as the meat was very lean. Also, their Shanghai dumplings didn't have much flavor. The inside of the noodle (or possibly the meat...couldn't tell) had a starchy taste (probably corn starch) that I didn't care for. As with most dim sum restaurants, There are no reservations for dim sum / lunch. We had to wait around 30 minutes to get a table. They give you a number. It is on a first-come, first-serve basis. When we tried to pay the bill, the waitress was nice in pointing out that the tip was already included in our bill. We were able to reduce our bill by $21.00 because she told us that. There is a pretty big parking lot that extends to the other side of the building. However, most people want to park where the front of Koi Palace is. It was quite filled when we arrived. We were lucky to find a space in front of Koi Palace Express. Koi Palace is on the 2nd floor. Do not confuse it with Koi Palace Express which is on the 1st floor (street level). The dim sum food was delicious and definitely one of the best. I would have ranked it higher ... however, the experience with the service was really not good. As I have advocated - the food weighs a lot in terms of what you are served - unfortunately... the interaction and experience you deal with the waiter/waitress/server provides the overall wow experience and hence, consumption of food becomes such a joy. The 18% automatic charge on your bill does not seem appropriate as well as indicating not even part of the tip for the servers. Overall ... highly recommended if you want one of the best tasting dim sum - however, be prepared for the 18% additional automatic charge to your bill and you are informed this is not a tip to your servers. In the spirit of team bonding, one of my team members treated us to dinner at Koi Palace. He had been raving about it for months, and we al were hyped up to try. It easily was the best Chinese food I've ever had. We all were so impressed that ever since, we talk about Koi Palace at work at least once per week and when is our next visit back going to be? My team member chose the dishes he most wanted us to try, ordering in Mandarin so it was a surprise (and, unfortunately, now I'm not sure what exact dishes we tried!). His favorite dish, and what most impressed me, was the prawn fried rice. Woooah-- it's no joke! Rich and flavorful. Despite coming for dinner, we were able to order shui mai and shrimp dumplings... excellent. Now I can't wait to come on a free weekend for dim sum. The rest of my team loved the seafood crispy noodles; I wouldn't order them again if it was just for me. I found them a little on the bland side. I'm not sure what else we tried, but it was all VERY good. The atmosphere is more elegant and upscale, with white tablecloths and the waitstaff dressed in uniform. Food was decent, really enjoyed the special dishes like abalone siu mai and fried ha gow. A bit overpriced, every dim sum item was 9-14$, when did that happen?!One thing that totally was upsetting was the 18% service charge. That must be new because isn't that usually enforced on big parties? There was only 4 of us. Granted we would've tipped 18-25% regardless but the service fee doesn't sit right with me, that's just being greedy. I will sympathize with mom n pop shops but they're basically a chain at this point. I get why there was no wait on a Saturday afternoon during prime time brunch now. I like to order from the 'specials' menu because the dishes are usually good, and are available for a limited time only. Disappointing Experience and Unexpected Charges After COVID, this was our family's first time dining out together (3 people), and unfortunately, the experience was surprisingly disappointing. The total cost for our dinner came to $236.12, which included an 18% "service charge" automatically added to the bill. To make matters more confusing, the receipt then presented us with additional tip options of 5%, 10%, and 15%--on top of the $236.12, which already included the 18% service charge. This left us puzzled and uncomfortable. Here's why the experience felt especially negative: Why was there an automatic 18% service charge without any clear explanation? Why were we then prompted to tip an additional amount, when a service charge was already included? The food was overpriced relative to the taste and quality--it simply didn't match expectations, especially given the high cost. We arrived right at 11:00 am on a weekday and by noon, there were quite a few people. Most of the tables were occupied, but I didn't see anyone waiting. The dim sum is good. Each item is flavorful and not overly salty. The sticky rice in lotus leaves was exceptionally tasty. We also ordered a special of the day which was geoduck chow fun, which tasted okay. The chow fun noodles were not stir-fried but were more like braised. There was a good amount of geoduck but the overall portion is on the fair side. The cost of the chow fun ($42) seemed high in relation to the amount and taste. Service is good. They came often enough to add water to the teapot.
