I liked the pork wontons and I was pleased that they had a great ratio of filling to wrapper. Then came the ramen w pork belly. The egg was great as well as any toppings - but the pork belly was burnt to a crisp. One piece was so bad that I felt like it could be charcoal. We started with the koi combo for appetizer, and this had a little sampling of everything. Everything in this sampler was so tasty - especially the bulgogi meat. I definitely recommend this dish to start. I also got a salad that paired nicely with the rest of the meal. For our entree, we shared the signature noodle soup made spicy with beef. This was delicious and kind of like a spicy beef ramen. I had a side of kimchi, and we also ordered the garlic edamame. Everything was amazing. I ordered the sichuan double scallion with sichuan beef shank and jalapeños. I have a decent spice tolerance and it wasn't overly spicy, enjoyable and the beef shank was super tender! Extraordinarily bad if you've ever had a decent bowl of noodles. They claim the noodles are handmade/hand pulled but I saw the noodles come out of plastic packets. They are definitely machine made or ordered from somewhere. They also overcooked them to the point they barely had any chew. Ordered the wagyu short rib and somehow they managed to make wagyu tough. All of the toppings were cold, even the wagyu short rib was not properly warmed. Ordered the level 3 spice but was just moderately spicy. Server forgot my drink and had to flag her down for utensils and the beer I ordered. We had a reservation for 5 people and we were seated quickly. We placed our drinks, appetizers and entree orders. Our drinks arrived in stages over 15 minutes. Our entrees began to arrive before the appetizers. All of the entrees arrived for 4 of the 5 members of our party. When we asked about the final entree and the appetizers, we were told it was on the way. Needless to say, the last entree arrived cold and two of the four appetizers arrived. When the salt and pepper wings arrived, it was obvious that they had been re-fried and were greasy. Love it here!! I've always walked past and never went in. They had an advertisement for $8 drinks so my friend and I figured why not try it out. Their signature Koi Noodle Soup sounded amazing but really lacked the depth that I expect from Asian dishes. The noodles are good, but the broth was nothing special. There are so many other nearby Asian places with deep, flavorful broths but for a signature dish this was very mid-range , "eh .. I guess I can eat this broth." The worse part for me was the meat. Short rib should be super tender and fall off the bone. The server described it as this but this was very chewy and fatty. Maybe it wasn't cooked long enough? I gave most of my meat chunks to my husband because I couldn't eat them. His brisket wasn't much better. I LOVE food and was looking forward to a good lunch. We live in the suburbs and only come into the city every few months. I was disappointed that we had such a mediocre lunch when there are many other delicious nearby options.
