Inaccurate use of Japanese words for the menu and offerings. For example, "Shoyu" means soy sauce based ramen- however they use the name for beef and mushroom broth based ramens. The flavors were ok. The "beef shoyu prime ramen" tastes more like pho than actual ramen. The flavors were decent but definitely a bit mislead.

Great ramen (especially for vegetarians!!) and cute hole in the wall ambience (reminded me of my travel to Japan). Service could be a bit faster but it is also the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, so it's understandable. I think it's sooo hard to come by solid vegetarian/vegan ramen, so this place pleasantly surprised me!! I tried chicken gyoza, veggie gyoza (I preferred it to the chicken one), and spicy veggie tofu ramen (my favorite!!). Pictured below is also beef ramen, but I did not try this.

I had the pleasure of trying this spot out, on a whim. The ramen DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I had the Garlic Miso Ramen w/ Beef Chishu and I'm still thinking about it. The Shrimp Gyozas were delicious and had a very fresh taste. My server was very helpful and he took the time to share his recommendations for each thing. I like that he was candid in his opinion of certain things and didn't try to encourage something he didn't like. The atmosphere was interesting to me. The space was roomy and felt like an Anime restaurant.

The ramen, meat, and broth were good. The waitress who took care of our table was fantastic - very accommodating to our modifications. It's worth a try but nothing extraordinary.

Super aesthetic ramen shop in West Loop that has a ton of ramen options as well as donburi. Absolutely love the interior of this place. The vibes are amazing. All the food was flavorful and memorable.

This spot is super trendy and fun! I love the decorative interior, making it seem like you are eating in the streets of Tokyo. The seating is very casual - wooden tables and stools. There wasn't a spot to place our coats so I just kept mine on. I would probably only come if you're looking for a quick casual bite! I did the Spicy Garlic Miso and added a side of the level 3 Hell Sauce. The Spicy Garlic Miso was flavorful and with the level 3 Hell Sauce, it was a perfect spice level for me (I love spicy food). I usually eat my ramen with chashu pork, but I tried the Wagyu Misuji and it was so good! Would def rec this protein choice. Their Takoyaki wasn't bad! I just wish that there was more sauce on them. Overall, great spot for last minute ramen!

TAKEOUT REVIEW We ordered through DoorDash and everything arrived pretty quickly! The broth comes separately to avoid spillage and from the noodles soaking it all up! It was easily reheated and poured into the to-go bowls to eat. The soft shell crab was still crispy and very yummy. Chicken karaage was average but the sauce made it sooo much better. As for the ramen, the spicy garlic miso was on the saltier side but the beef chashu and crab were spot on. The shoyu prime broth tasted very similar to beef pho broth. Overall we liked everything just the broth was a bit too salty.

Out of all the ramen spots I've tried in Chicago, this one is by far my favorite. I was skeptical at first, thinking it might lean more toward a touristy, just-okay flavor, but I ended up really enjoying it. There's street parking out front, plenty of tables inside, and I also really liked the restaurant's interior design. I ordered the signature ramen with wagyu--the meat was a bit tough, but it didn't bother me. The broth was so delicious that I finished the entire bowl. The soft-shell crab ramen was definitely worth the price. Plus side is that the staff are really nice so I had no issues ordering as well as waiting for my order. Would come back again!

The food came out pretty quick and was delicious. Good prices, good portions but definitely a much more "fast and casual" vibe so if that's what you're looking for this is good.

Our party of 5 was able to secure a table easily on a Friday night before 6 PM. We had a few appetizers of edamame, chicken karaage and the truffle waffle fries. For entrees, most of the table had the signature gyukotsu, with the other entrees being shoyo ramen and dog rice. The broth of all the ramens were delicious. The rib from the dog rice was the star of the show, however the other proteins and toppings were a bit on the bland side. Service was fast and efficient. The ambiance was cute and welcoming.

Gyuro Ramen would be in my top 3 ramen ranking in Chicago! There are endless options of ramen which is unique to other restaurants. You can get different meat based broth for example Duck broth, beef broth, spicy miso broth and more. Often times, ramen restaurants do not have as many. This made our ramen decision harder, but allowed us to have more options. We opted for trying two: the Duck Ramen and the Spicy Garlic with wagyu misuji. I couldn't decide which one I liked more. They were both rich with flavor and had their own unique take. The duck was creamier and heavier. The spicy garlic broth was spicier and lighter. I enjoyed both of these and would definitely get them again. The interior of this place replicated an authentic Japanese ramen shop. It had neon colors and displays on the wall. It was fun to be in that environment. Additionally, the restaurant was BYOB which was fantastic. Service was fast and great.

Excellent Ramen. But fantastic Gyoza and Fried Chicken appetizers. I had the curry ramen with waygu beef. I was told it's very spicy, but it was pretty mild, so I added three scoops of chili paste. My bride had the vegetarian ramen. It was loaded with mushrooms and nori. We both thought the fried vegetarian gyoza was the best dish on the table.

Service was pretty quick (though I went at lunchtime on a Tuesday). The ramen itself was good, just a bit salty for my taste.

The place was rather dimly lit, which actually made for a nice dinner-time ambiance. It's relatively small inside, so the fact that it was busy led us to just take two seats at the bar. The service at the bar was fantastic and, while the bartenders were quite busy, they were very good about repeatedly checking in on us. I ordered the chicken shio ramen, and my wife ordered the kimchi and fried chicken ramen, which the waitress/bartender told us was the most popular. Both of these dishes were absolutely incredible, and both were large, but not overly filling portion sizes. It was $17-$18 per ramen bowl, which isn't cheap, but it's also not too expensive for being right in the middle of the city. This is my new favorite ramen place in Chicago, and it comes highly recommended by me for anyone who is wanting to try it!

In no way had my body rested. Donned in dawn, my underwear-pajamas slightly slid down revealed a sad vision of man, sloppily tangled in ruffled sheets. Exposed. There is nothing pretty about me, I thought, as I pondered if the sunlight were judging what it saw. Before reaching my current perch on the living room couch, I sat in bed flicking through news in search of something good, but simultaneously only pausing on the bad. Glorifying in the doom, really. It was the pinch I needed to prove I was indeed awake. All day I seek the pinch of pain to prove I am not dreaming. Coffee, cats, clothes, splashof water, and 20 steps later I find myself in the planning pose, here in the living room. The planning pose is very much like the wake-startle, sans the sheets and exposed crack. It involves me laying here on the couch actually reading the articles I perused earlier. I like to rationalize that the information gleaned is to set me up for a day of human interaction. Perhaps it is a study session to get up to human-social-speed. Right now it is dawning on me -- my second uninvited dawn of the day -- that perhaps behavior isn't responsible humanity, it is prolonged self torment. The tighter pinch. The proverbial purple nurple of challenging my awakened state. Cats gather around me. One at my feet and the other curled beside my thigh. Am I king to them? They are fed. Surely they are not here in need of something. Have I done something to warrant this attention? My affection toward them is inconsistent. It ebbs in startling fits of overly attentive playing or petting followed by long droughts of disregard. My ambivalence as their king gives me this luxury, and supports my theory that they may think I am indeed king. This is the type of cyclical example loop I am using as evidence to propel me from the underwear'ed fat man the sun observed moments ago. Evidence that says: "See, Sun, I am more than the larva you spotlighted. I am a god! The cats are evidence! And they sleep in your sun-puddles in undisputed, recognizable perfection, not the ugly crack-exposed heap you found me in. You love them. They love me. So, pinch yourself, and stop judging me!" Obviously the coffee is working, or maybe the cats are doing their trick: making me feel accepted in the universe. Whatever the case may be, I pet my cat. Dander floats into the sun's beams and crystallizes in the air. If you've ever seen dust in a thinly sliced light beam at dawn you know: Hope is the accidental luck of shadows bouncing off of the chaos but always cutting through. Always meeting a surface. Penetrating the thickest of atmospheres and colliding on flowers and alleys, on well planned solar panels, on potholes, through any crack, on my crack, projecting obtuse triangles, acute bi-angles, and isosceles quad-tangles, even while penetrating deep into the sea, revealing all the magnificent details of art, and occasionally falling on me. Trees bend to it. I give the cat closest a good scratch behind the ear and look out the window at the trees greening in spring. A dog walker pauses to pick up excrement. A squirrel cowers behind a branch. The ramen restaurant on the corner is cut through by light warming empty tables; tables preparing to slurp up hungry, hopeful lunchers into the belly of contentment. Dark, seemingly an antagonist to light's hero demeanor, sheepishly slinks away, humbly realizing it is not the opposite of light, but the absence. "Beautiful," I think as I see the spicy broth of life warming in the sun glow beyond the glass. Yes. It is beautiful. It really is. I couldn't see how much in the dark but the rhythm out the window is now clear. I turn to my cat, who is winding down a purr. We share a slow-blink gaze at one another as the last sliver of dawn is replaced with shadow in my house. He moves to the window sill to soak in every second as it departs. "Welp, buddy. Nothing left now. Time to bend to the light"
