The staff aren't the friendliest but that can be overlooked because they work extremely hard. I rated Knickerbocker Bagel a four because of how long it took. This place always has a line to the door every morning. It's very crowded and the situation of the line and where to walk in and out is a bit uncomfortable. The food is rather overpriced here for a bagel joint. Sandwiches are way over priced. I tried this place on two occasions. I first had a Ruben on a bagel which was OK. I've also had a salt bagel here. While there is plenty of salt on the bagel, similarly with the Ruben, the bagels don't taste good. The texture is bad, taste like they are missing an ingredient. The orders take an uncomfortably long amount of time to place the order and check out. The line should move a lot quicker. Where has this place been all my life?! Bushwick has needed a solid bagel spot like this forever, and Knickerbocker Bagel definitely delivers. This place is always crazy busy, but rightfully so. The bagels are delicious, I prefer toasted but they are still soft and chewy (in a good way) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the cream cheese flavors they offer! My favorites are jalapeño cheddar, garlic herb and sundried tomato but honestly there's only been one flavor I didn't care for (the chipotle diavolo). They have dozens of bagel flavors as well (my favs are blueberry, jalapeño and sundried tomato -- sense a theme here?! Lol) I've tried classic bagels with cream cheese, as well as some of the sandwich suggestions (the Bird is delicious) and also built my own sandwich. Have never been disappointed with any of the selections and they really load up the portions so you get your money's worth. The dining area inside is huge, and because the line is so long, chances are a table will open up by the time you pay for your food even if it's full when you first walk in! On the weekends it could take 20-30 minutes to get through the line, but I personally think it's worth it based on the quality of the food here. I've ordered from here 3 times now and they have consistently delivered early and tasty food. One time I got the Tuna Swelter sandwich on rye, where I requested a chicken salad swap and they happily obliged. Another time I got a bacon, egg, cheese and avocado on everything bagel. That hit the spot but the only complaint I have is that the add-on avocado is more of a mush/gauc type thing instead of slices of avocado, which was kinda disappointing. I guess that's why it was only 95 cents to add on. More recently I was craving a basic BLT and damn, it was good. At first I was worried they didn't put enough bacon and added too much lettuce (because I have my priorities straight) but the ratio of all the ingredients was balanced. If you're dairy free you HAVE to try the tofu scallion cream cheese and if you aren't the garlic and herb will change your life. The home fries (cooked thoroughly) are my favorite hangover cure of all time and if I could shovel the entire order in my mouth at once I totally would. The employees are attentive and eager to make your order to your specifications and always do it with a smile on their faces. There is also seating available so you can take a table and chill or grab your food to go. I spilled my coffee. The nice man who took our order asked if I was ok and gave me another coffee. It was equally excellent. All the reviews on here are true. This place rules! It's in the middle of Bushwick, and I don't think that people actually "come" here from far away. My boyfriend had the bacon regular cream cheese on a jalapeño bagel and he loved it. We grabbed some spanakopita and a hot dog on a stick for a snack later, it was delicious. Spanakopita had just enough spinach and it was seasoned to perfection. Highly recommend. Our second visit, we wanted to get some breakfast meals. We went for the option that had 2 eggs (any style) on a toast, avocado and home fries for $8.75. The toast was thick and soft, not as your usual oily thin toast from a bodega. The portions were huge, we had leftovers for lunch the next day. Their selection of drinks, bagels, cream cheeses, pastries, snacks, smoothies, coffee, breakfasts, is insane. They really do have everything. You can get a freshly squeezed orange juice, or they have bottled orange juice from four different brands. You can find chips and cookies, all kinds of kombuchas to coconut water. Seriously, anything you can think of! The service is super friendly and helpful. You order with with the same person who makes your food, and they're the ones who will ring you up. They have a lot of seats, so even if they get busy, you should still find a spot. The person who takes your order actually helps you throughout the entire process so I feel they're more attentive to what you're ordering. Plenty of options and the staff is always pleasant and ready to get you all the you need. I always leave here satisfied no matter what. Wow! This may be the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. The ingredients are incredibly fresh and they pile the sandwiches high! They have dozens of cream cheese flavors and so many yummy bagels! It was hard to decide what to get. I ended up ordering an everything bagel sandwich with egg, sausage, spinach and herb & garlic cream cheese. I could still taste the garlic 30 minutes later. It was amazing! The place had a never ending line of people and the ordering process was a bit confusing. Decent little casual breakfast spot that seems to have already gathered quite a following. Popped in here after the gym around 10:30am, and there was already a hefty line at the place. The menu is huge, and everything is very fairly priced with friendly customer service. This is definitely going to be my ritual breakfast spot post gym every Saturday - I'm eyeing up the omelettes for next time! Anywho, as I mentioned, the menu is crazy extensive with everything form Omelettes to soups, to sandwiches, to salads. They have a selection of Bagels ranging from everything to blue berry to pumpkin seed to your classic sesame. They have cream cheese spreads ranging from your cinnamon to Jalapeno Lox to cucumber creme cheese. I got the Reuben which comes with a choice of pastrami or corned beef and can be had in a bagel or sandwich. i got it in a bagel and it was pretty stacked, with generous helpings of meat, sauerkraut and cheese. This will set you back around $10 and is one of the more expensive items on the menu alongside the Smoked Salmon and creme cheese selection bagel. But it was worth it. I saw a picture of one of their bagel sandwiches and had to stop by. I ordered pastrami w/tomatoes, lettuce, swiss cheese, and Russian dressing on an everything egg bagel. I have to say that I was very impressed, solid sandwich. The everything egg bagel was amazing, I could have eaten this by itself and enjoyed it. The bagel was super soft, easy to chew, soaked up the juices well, and was still able to hold the sandwich in place. The pastrami was tender and melted in my mouth almost immediately. The other ingredients worked well, the Russian dressing gave everything a slight sweetness without overpowering the rest. It was a lot of food, but I didn't feel like I ate like million calories.
