We came here on a Friday evening around 6:30 to 7 looking for a nice beer and typical burgeresque type food. We wanted to try somewhere new and happened upon this place. When we walked in the bar area was full but not crazy looked like a lot of people came after work. We were seated in the dining area. The decor is super cool, fun wallpaper and neat orange fabric color booths. It took a super long time for someone to come by to take our order. When someone did arrive he introduced himself as the general manager. My husband and I each ordered a beer. He also pointed out there was a pumpkin head that they had in the bottle. I opted for that. Again it took a while for the beers to come, but ok since we were talking and watching the TVs that they had on the wall. My husband ordered a steak rice bowl and I ordered to Carne asada tacos with rice on the side (you could choose your taco amounts and mix and match and they do not come with sides). Our food came after waiting quite a bit. Added to the long wait was not a single soul in the dining area with us. And the bus boy was cleaning all the tables and removing salt and pepper and plates from empty tables... Not sure if it becomes a club later on but a little strange. Our food looked pretty when it was served, portions were small and the food fell short of good. It wasn't bad but was not that great (both of our steaks were super chewy). Now called Kingston cuts bar and grill. I came here because I had a gift card and was seeing a show at the opera house. The ambiance is quite casual. You walk immediately into a bar, which is a good place for after work drinks. There was a DJ there on a week day around 6PM. I got the strip steak which was quite good. It was pretty tender but the edges were a little too charred. On the other hand, the side arugula salad m that came with the steak was not very fresh. The salad seemed somewhat wilted as if it sat out all night. My boyfriend got the burger which he did enjoy. I also really enjoyed the truffle fries And crab cakes. Overall, food was good/mediocre. We had issues with our gift card and had to speak with the manager who eventually resolved the conflict. Therefore, the service bumped up their review to a 4 star. read more

Went here for the first time with a group of co- workers for lunch. good food! Then.....I went with a friend after work.....horrible acoustics in the bar area. We were seated in a quieter area off the main dining room. The service was fine. But the food was not what was expected. The trio drips had no flavor, the warm bread made it at the least eatable. The drinks looked good, and were fine. The truffle fries were an insult to French fry lovers! No taste, some cheese thrown on top w scallions, disappointed. :-( my friend's Cuban was a disappointment to him, he specified Dijon and got plain ole mustard. Recently I attended a private Saturday party at KGB and was upset both by the behavior of the patrons, as well as the staff both indoors and at the door. One of of the things that caught my attention was as I was getting in line, a woman who was basically wearing nothing but a thong and high heels was also in line. Frankly, a picture does speak a thousand words, and she was indecently exposed in public (please see photo). KGB let her right in. Also, I observed several men leaving the line to urinate against the wall of J.J. Foley's and then get back in line and enter KGB. Once inside, it didn't​ get much better. The party was supposed to be a fun dance party, but it was anything but fun -- the crude language, several near fights by drunken men -- the woman in the photo got a ton of their attention -- and obscene things said to me and my friends drove us out. I have two words for anyone thinking about going to one of KGB's private weekend parties: Stay away! I would not be surprised to hear that the police end up getting called to one of these parties. I am a FEMALE & I do security for a living and I have concerns about the fact that this place has an ALL MALE SECURITY STAFF. They do not have ANYONE at the door TO SEARCH FEMALES FOR PROHIBITED ITEMS. I am making a point to comment on my experience at this establishment and hopefully after reading this, management will take the necessary steps to remove some of the people they have working there. This place isn't just a restaurant, they have events on the weekends with a dj and dancefloor. I decided to come here yesterday with a friend hoping to have a good time like I always do. This was not the case. I want to first make you aware that some of the bouncers/staff there are very rude and very aggressive. One in particular, MATT. This man was able to walk into the WOMENS bathroom unannounced, and assumed I was apart of words being exchanged between 2 females. He appeared to be intoxicated, he was following me around and even grabbed me up! When I tried to talk to this man privately he became even more aggressive without asking any questions about the situation or letting me explain. He continued push up on me making me feel very uncomfortable! He then got up in my face began pointing his finger yelling at me to "Get the F*** out." He was standing in the way keeping me from grabbing my things, he then put his hands around me preventing me from walking away. I had to throw my hands in the air to show I was not resisting because I saw other security staff approaching us. When I was finally able to explain my side to another bouncer, Matt continued to approach me in an aggressive manner where I had to back up several times to give us some distance because I did feel threatened and I said it several times. Multiple people witnessed this including the big black bald bouncer who did nothing!!! After all of this, I decided I wanted Matt's information to file a complaint with the owner. I asked other staff members who refused to give me any information. One bouncer even blew me off and walked away when he witnessed everything that happened. I won't be returning here, and if I were the owner I'd think about hiring more female staff who are more than qualified to handle these kinds of situations to avoid women from feeling like they are being violated when they go out to have a good time. Came and had a great meal. The crab cakes were awesome, buttery and very rich. I had the spaghetti and clams and my friend had the crab pasta special. We were both pretty happy with our meals. It was a little salty, but I loooove salt, so I was ok with it. Cocktails were fresh and tasty. I felt like it was pretty well balanced. Service was friendly, but not amazing. The place used to be Kingston station- actually seemingly better in the past. I wanted shrimp tacos- waitress fails to say anything until 5 min post order. So I ask for a salad with various items on it plus bacon. Salad is great except for the bacon. Shit was nasty. Completely fat and not crispy at all. I finished my entire salad but I had to pick out all of the damn bacon. If I knew that it would be fat I would have gotten another salad topping instead of wasted it on the limp ass bacon. I told the waitress after I was finished because it wasn't worth the fight- and before I even explained how it was nasty she said- oh is it chewy? I said um no... it's fatty. After a 4-hour train ride from New York to Boston, the boyfriend and I were famished. A quick Yelp search brought us to Kingston Grille, located only a few blocks away from South Station. And although I was initially impressed by the contemporary tavern interior, their food and drinks did not meet my expectations. The truffle fries were barely cooked with zero crisp, my red sangria was watered down heavily, and the BQQ pulled pork sandwich contained far too much vinegar in its sauce. This is my favorite steak frites joint in town! Great new menu, great service, great atmosphere and some of the friendliest bartenders I've ever ordered a drink from. Well worth a trip for a lunch break or a night out on the town! Wish there was an option for more than 5 stars! Drove in from an hour away, and will definitely be back. The food was amazing, and probably the best steak I've ever had. Cooked to perfection. That steak sauce is to die for!!!!! I suggest even dipping their signature fries in it! I'm really happy with some of the changes that have been made here. I'm in here quite frequently and have talked to management. Very nice guys. Their new head chef is amazing, and seems to be working hard to round out the menu. My all time favorite dish to order though is the Kingston Bowl with chicken. Every single bite is packed with so many amazing flavors; it's hard to put down my fork. They recently remodeled the front and it has a more loungy feel which is perfect when you just wanna sit back, relax, and enjoy a drink without sitting at the bar. I usually like to come in here after work for a drink or two (by the way, I'd recommend the Kingston Mule) and seriously I just really dig the vibe. The bar staff is super friendly and so far I haven't had any trouble getting quick service. Same with the wait staff. They're also doing a new promotional event on Wednesdays where they offer free passed hors d'oeuvres. I'm not a big chicken wing guy, but holy hell were these things crispy. I think my point is that this is a really nice place to head to after work if you wanna just cut back and relax with a really nice group of people. read more

I'll never understand why anyone thought Kingston Station needed a revamp. The old spot was a quiet, hidden gem in a sea of Gastro pubs. And behold, they turned it into a Gastro pub that is neither as good as the former KS nor as good as any of the myriad locations nearby. The old KS had unique cocktails, a cool Parisian vibe, and bomb ass truffle fries. The other food was great, too, but it was the truffle fries that I daydreamed about. This new place has too many TVs and can't decide what its identity is. It's part Lolita, part Merchant, and part sports bar. A combination that is confusing and mismatched. The truffle fries are now not even good fries, period. And not even plated nicely. And the cocktail menu is lackluster. I went with 3 friends and we all ordered different cocktails (each a different liquor base, too) that tasted indistinguishable from each other due to oversweetening. Not to mention they are now charging $14 for drinks. They get a little bit of a boost because the waitress was kind enough to let me swap out a thick, cloyingly sweet sangria for a glass of wine. KGB is overpriced and unwanted in an area already inundated with similar and, frankly, better bars. I'm crushed and disappointed and mostly just miss my old friend, KS. We got a Groupon for this place and I was a bit concerned that it would be sub par. Groupon was $26 for an appetizer & 2 sandwiches or salads. We got the yummy spicy BBQ wings they came with the usual carrots, celery and bleu cheese but the veggies were pickled and really good. For sandwiches we chose the pastrami and the cheese steak boy were loaded with meat, cheese and deliciousness. The atmosphere is relaxed, clean and comfortable. Service was excellent. My fave thing about this place is that it has tons of customizable options--the salads and burgers add-on's are extremely extensive so they're very vegetarian/vegan friendly. But beware, burgers start at $11 and toppings are $1 each; salad proteins are $6-8 so things add up very quickly!!!!!! It's a bit pricey for what you're getting but they do have a fancier menu than your average bar Service was pretty poor, our waiter was rude, food took forever to come out and when it finally did, it came out cold and the meat was way overcooked. This is only a review in regards to the nightclub. I've never had the food here so don't know how good it is, but when it comes to how they treat potential night club goers this isn't the best place. When you say something please stick by it! It's absolutely absurd that you make me wait in a line when it's empty inside in order to get me to pay a higher entry fee. The only appeal to going out in Boston nowadays is not having to pay ridiculous cover charges for places that are not even that popular. This experience has truly soured my view on this place and I guess I'll keep my business to Good Life or Savvor. I went on a Friday DJ wasn't that great played mostly reggae. Bartenders suck they didn't mix the drink well pineapple juice in the top vodka all the way at the bottom. I loved the old Kingston Station. The truffle fries, the salads, the sandwiches, it was all good and reliable with excellent service and great prices. Perfect for drinks after work or lunch with my hubby, and my office held countless baby showers, retirement parties and group lunches here which always ran smoothly. Sadly, it's not the same place anymore and I don't know why anyone thought it needed updating to begin with. I was embarrassed after bringing a friend here last night. I told her I'd loved the old restaurant and had heard it underwent renovations and was supposed to have a new and improved menu for both drinks and food. We met at 5:30, and were seated up front overlooking the street, which was a great (quieter) spot for conversation but turned out to be the worst place to get attentive service. We had to ask three times for our bill at the end of the meal, and when it came, it was someone else's check! It took ages to finally get the right one sent over and closed out so we could leave. I found the prices higher than I remembered, with pricey add-ons for salad and burger toppings that quickly made things that seemed reasonable very expensive. I used to love the salads at Kingston Station, but the one I ordered -- a beet salad -- came with (no exaggeration) probably two pounds of arugula and an extremely skimpy amount of goat cheese and beets (which were undercooked and not soft enough) on top. I love salad, but this was more lettuce than I would eat in a week, and I honestly should have sent it back. Instead I ordered fries as a side so I wouldn't be starving, and the ones that came were not the amazing version everyone loved about Kingston Station (RIP) but were also not horrible. My friend said her meatball sub was fine. We ordered cocktails; one came very watered down and the other came so strong we couldn't finish it. In short, the food was bad, the service was bad, and on top of that the "new" decor is kinda weird -- I wouldn't have pegged the former Kingston Station as a place in need of refurbishment in the first place -- so the ambiance inside was just off, and I found myself missing the old place. I would not spend my money here but I am glad that I experienced this on a dinner date with a friend and not a special outing with my husband where I would have been REALLY pissed. From the moment we stepped through the plants blocking the door, I should have known this was a bad idea. The name has changed to Kingston Cuts, but not the sign or the website. The menu has changed for the worst, the food is bland, and for a place that wants to be "steaks and frites" the fries probably shouldn't come out of a bag. The service was beyond terrible, I have never had such slow, almost non-existent service in the thousands places I have eaten. I would recommend 100% that you avoid this place, even if you're starving and it's the only place open. My wife says the women's bathroom is painted the color of poo, the toilets are at a child's height, and you can't sit and close the door. The wings fell off the bone, which was a little weird/unexpected but maybe not in a bad way. Everything tastes pretty solid, but nothing stood out as exceptional. Fries could use a little longer cook time and salt. Service was friendly. I couldn't really feel too much of a difference between KGB and Kingston Station since the subway station feel was still there, though it did look fresher. I liked the old Kingston Station, so I hope the entrees are the same quality or better. Will definitely be back at some point to try more! read more

One star for the scenery, went to Kingston Grille & Bar on February 16, 2019 for an event night. I order a vokdka Lemonade from one of the bartenders. Bartenders made the drink wrong than after about 10 minutes I brought the issue to the bartender. I paid $10.00 for the drink with was served inside a disposable cup. Abysmal service. Calamari was perfectly cooked, but took 20 mins to arrive. Roast chicken arrived while the app was still on the table, but was delicious - even if the bed of rice underneath was a little oily. The other entre took 15 more minutes to arrive, by which time my partner had finished hers. It was the baked mac & cheese - which arrived with a clearly un-backed couple of Ritz crackers sprinkled on top - really poor. Desert took another inordinate length of time, the bougatsa was very bland. In their favour, we were treated no different for bringing a Groupon voucher, and my beer was comped for the poor service. Went here for lunch. Steady business but not busy. Very neat atmosphere. A club/hotel bar/lounge/classic combination. Fresh, textured wallpaper gave the feel of an old hotel or classic restaurant. Average prices for downtown Boston. Their build your own salad option looked great, though they were out of 2/4 of the meat options. I was told their salads are always great. I had their burger which was cooked medium rare perfectly. However, I can't say it stood out from any other burger. The clam chowder was a disappointment. They had their own style which was a little thin, and had a lot of extra items in it, from bacon to celery. It was extremely salty (and normally I like salty food!). French fries were crisp and good, but nothing special. I just don't see a reason to go back if you don't want their salad. There are so many other good options to try. First night in town and the first place we tried was a pub next door that didn't allow kids, but this place happened to be a few doors down. Glad it worked out this way because we had some great food. The 'Spaghetti and Clams' was awesome as was the 'New England Clam Chowder'. Stumbled onto this place while walking around the city. Was in the mood for a burger and I'm glad I stopped here. The décor of the place has what appears to be subway or bathroom tiles on the walls and floors, there is an open floor with seating to the right as you walk in and a long bar that extends to the back of the place. Odd layout, but the place was nearly empty when I walked in so no wait for seating or service. Server was polite and came back to check up on me from time to time. The burger was great! Thick, juicy, tasty. My only suggestion is to mix up the beer selection. It was mainly Ales and IPAs. Not a lot of variety. Went there with my husband tonight for dinner with a groupon, food was ok, deserves 3 star. But service is great, plus one for it. My husband ordered a burger, the lower bun looked overburnt, we told this to the server and he replaced it with a smile and apology. I can understand things like this happen, but to apologise and handle with calmness is a sign of good hospitality. I've eaten here several times this year (2016) and love the look, service and food. I just have one suggestion for them -- the salads are amazing, but way too salty. It's on the salad before the dressing too. They'd have the best salads in town if they could cut back on the salt a bit (only reason I'm not giving 5 stars). Give them a try if you haven't! read more
