There was no wait time. They have a lot of keto options..I'm not on the diet but I was curious. I ordered the keto shrimp & cauliflower grits. My dish was good..not spicy. The serving size was nice size portion I left full with some leftovers. I also ordered the keto pumpkin bread to go for later. I haven't tasted it yet but I'm excited. There were about 8 keto desserts to try from all freshly made. This place is super cute, the menu has both breakfast & lunch served all day. First thing I feel the need to tell you guys as soon as you walk in order the bacon. And i mean order one for everyone at the table because sharing is going to be tough! My husband and I are so happy we stumbled across this place! We were looking for new breakfast places on Sunday and came across this cafe. The staff are all extremely friendly, the service is QUICK, and on top of that the food is phenomenal. Not only all that, but they also source their food from local farms. We love supporting local businesses that also support local businesses! I've seen reviews about the service being slow and the prices being high: 1) The service was extremely fast (not even 10 minutes) when we went at 8:30 Sunday morning. They are a newer restaurant, so if they've been slow in the past then they've been able to work through it and get quicker. 2) If you think the prices are high then you should go to Denny's or IHOP. We thought the food was reasonable if not cheaper than most other places in the area, around $10 per entree. Regardless, it more costs money to be able to buy from local farms AND have good, fresh food. read more

I had high expectations from the pics and reviews. Ugh, first the waffle we received was nothing like the others pictured. It was just a plan no taste waffle and flat, again nothing like a true Belgium waffle should be and that was pictured. The tea was weird tasting. I'm leaving a picture of my plate that almost had a portion of potatoes, and this is how it was presented at the table I hadn't touched my plate yet. I had questions and the waitress didn't really have any answers. Now for the worst part, the prices are ridiculous!!!!!! I mean WAY overpriced!!!!! By about 1/2. The wait..... Omg. If you are starving turn around and go somewhere else. Kitchen staff was maskless. Older lady in the front kept pulling hers off to go mess with the food. The solo waitress looked flustered and had trouble keeping up with everything. We watched food waiting in the window. I was super excited to try this place when I saw the signs pop up in front of my neighborhood, but I'm sad to say that I was pretty disappointed by our experience this morning. Service: the service was extremely slow. We had patience and understanding with this being a new restaurant, we had some expectations for it to be a little slow - we went on a Saturday morning and they were slammed. We were seated at 9:15 and received food at 10:15. The staff needs to map out their plan better - everyone was very nice, but disorganized. If they organized themselves better, the whole system would run smoother. Food: I ordered the chicken and waffles - it was okay. I was expecting it to be spicy, but the kitchen apparently gave me a plain waffle instead of the jalapeño cheddar waffle. The chicken wasn't very flavorful, but the texture was good. My husband got the crab cakes and was underwhelmed. They were listed as jumbo crab cakes, but they were flat and the size of silver dollar pancakes. The kids enjoyed the grilled cheese and the fruit cup was fresh fruit - yum. The appetizer was ordered and on our bill, but we didn't get it, so I can't report on the King's bacon. Today we came back and I ordered what my friend had last time and I realized that it came with 3 eggs instead of 2 so I stand corrected, hence why my previous order had less eggs than mine lol my pancakes were pretty good and filling served with whipped butter, the eggs were plentiful and the potatoes didn't disappoint. Me on the other hand my biscuit was dense dry and crumbly, when I was chewing it I had these little rocks in my mouth I can only assume the dough had not been mixed properly. The small amount of eggs compared to my friends plate, the seasoned potatoes were good and not greasy. I also ordered a side of their vanilla bourbon French toast which is supposed to be a specialty, honestly I am not trying to be negative I just didn't taste the vanilla or the bourbon they it was just regular French toast. One of the owners came over to talk to us and gave the history again about the restaurant and checked to see how everything went. I asked if it was ok to give her some feedback and I discussed the biscuits with her and she said she would talk to the chef. I think based on what I had the rating is fair. **AVOID THIS PLACE!!** The worst food in Houston. Anyone who is writing positive reviews about this place is absolutely out of their mind. Here was my experience: -Eggs Benedict: overcooked eggs topped with yellow onion frosting. They call it "hollandaise," but I will actually chew off my own arm, have it stuffed and mounted, and present it to them as a trophy if they actually have a single correct ingredient in that disgusting, grainy, sweet paste they are calling hollandaise. - the "chocolate pancake" is an interesting item. It's $7.50 for a triple stack of chocolate chip pancakes, according to the menu. But pay the extra $1.50 for the "chocolate pancake", you get one single chocolate chip pancake. Makes sense, right? - "crispy breakfast potatoes." Here is how you make them: deep fry potatoes in the oldest fryer oil you can find until dark brown. Then, steam in a Styrofoam container until they are burnt, but soft and greasy. Mmmmmmm mm! - to the guy who cuts the fruit: you're the best chef in that restaurant. This man needs a raise! He gave me my only edible item today. When I tried to get ahold of the restaurant immediately after we started breakfast to let them know that my order wasn't acceptable, there is radio silence. Had to reach out to the third party delivery service they use, and they offered me HALF of the money back for an order of food that went straight to the garbage bin. read more

Upon entry, there is a sign that says wait to be seated. As I walked to the bar, it seemed everyone behind the bar froze. I mentioned it was a to-go order and they all seemed to ease. They're very busy so after a few seconds, I grabbed a menu. I got a coffee while I waited for my to-go order. First thing I noticed it's is super bitter. After a few creamers and at least 3 tablespoons of sugar, I decided to change it a latte. I ordered the chicken and waffle and added an egg. I took it to, so when I got home, I was not impressed. The waffle was soft due to condensation. The egg was okay. The chicken breast was really tasty and it seems to be a whole chicken breast. I also ordered a coffee. Breakfast was good but I made the mistake of going on a Sunday during peak hours and had to wait really long for my meal which may have diminished my enjoyment of it . We visited late on a Sunday morning. Seated promptly and waitress was prompt. She took our drink order and checked on us. We needed longer to order and I think she may have given up on us. The owner checked on us and sent a different waitress over. We ordered vanilla french toast and two egg and grits/bacon/biscuit and gravy. They were busy but still I feel it took too long to get our food. The french toast was half cooled like it had been waiting on my eggs to come out. The french toast was very average. The grits were plain - was expecting maybe some salt/pepper/butter or cheese. The bacon was too fatty. Biscuit was too dry. The gravy was pretty good and the coffee was good. For the prices, I really expected something better. Breakfast entrees were $10-$13. Ultra-personable staff and exceptionally, wonderful food. Upon entering, you are warmly greeted with a nice smile by either T.T. or Presley with a cheery "Welcome to Kings Blu Jam!". In the back of the house: Dana, Connie, Mason and Jeffery keep things running smooth. From their Chicken and Waffles, various Benedict's (including fresh Crab Cakes), Build Your Own Breakfast Sandwich, Keto Shrimp and Grits, Shrimp Creole, to so many other amazing dishes, I've pretty much had every item on their menu. They have some very nice homemade jams and blueberry butter that really can make a dish pop! Locally sourced ingredients, many Keto options, this place just goes out of their way when others don't. Jay and Lonnie keep all the dishes and tables clean. The wait staff is also top notch. Blake, Desi, Kathy and Yolanda keep your coffee full (GEVA - local business), check in on you just the right amount of time. They make sure your food is correct and is brought out promptly. I've have interacting with almost all of their employees and there has never been a bad experience. I have had the pleasure of Blake most often being the one to wait on me there. They are one of, if not the best wait staff compared to anywhere I've been!!! The décor and music only amplify the experience. Having a blueberry paint color for accenting was a brilliant decision. Their seating is very accommodating, from a 7 seat bar to their table and booth options. They can also easily assist those with mobility disabilities. I've seen them setup for large parties as well. Though I often read reviews, I do not write many. Coming to a place where not only the employees, but also the owners actually caring about you and how you are doing is rare. Kings Blu Jam Café holds a special place in my heart. To some, this may be just a restaurant. To me, it is a home away from home.
