My grandma and I ordered from here on Christmas Day. The delivery was easy and relatively quick! They also provided plenty of sauce packets on the side. Our favorite dish was the chicken chow fun. The noodles had just the right chewy texture and there was plenty of chicken. The beef and string beans was also delicious, although pretty salty and oily. I still counted it as my vegetables for the day! I was glad it came with plenty of rice on the side, as that helped to diffuse some of the grease. Of course, the egg rolls were also tasty, but once again pretty decadent. This place hits the spot, but don't expect anything authentic. Yo yo what is good? This place i ran into is a good quick pick up spot for Chinese food if you in the area. It is in the corner of Austin St away from the busy and bustling street. It may be a small hole in the wall but the food is pretty good. I had gotten a wonton soup because it was brick outside.Man the soup was good and warmed me up. But for sure they have other casual Chinese eats such as lo mein,sesame chicken and boneless spare ribs. Their prices look really affordable too considering its in Forest Hills. King Wok has become one of my two go-to Chinese spots. They have great lunch specials, and their food always tastes hot and fresh. What I love most about their lunch specials is their soup options. Most Chinese restaurants I've tried only offer Wonton or Egg Drop soup as a lunch special option, but King Wok has a vegetarian soup option, and it's delicious. It's a vegetable broth base and is loaded with veggies. Another unique aspect of King Wok, at least with my limited Chinese takeout experience, is they sell a vegetable egg roll. As far as meals go, I've ordered chicken and broccoli in garlic sauce and sesame chicken from here. The sesame chicken is good, but nothing special, but I've always really enjoyed the chicken and broccoli. It's got a good spice to it, and the chicken always tastes fresh. The staff here is really friendly and hardworking. I never have to wait long for my food. I definitely recommend them if you're looking to pick up some Chinese food in Forest Hills. read more

This has become one of my new Chinese takeout spots. I have been ordering lunch specials from here every so often over the past couple of months, and they have been hitting the spot. So far, I have ordered 3 different types. They come with pork fried rice, soup, and whatever main you order. So far I have ordered the boneless spare ribs (a couple of times), chicken with broccoli in garlic sauce (a few times), and sesame chicken (a couple of times). All the food has been really good. I like their shrimp rolls. I tried their Seafood Delight, but I found it disappointing. The menu said that it has crab, lobster, among other ingredients. The crab however turned out to be imitation crab meant, so that part went straight to the trash. The lobster was only 1 morsel, so we split it in 2 with my wife. Instead of imitation crab meat and reducing the lobster meat, they should supplement with more shrimp and or scallops, if they find crab and lobster to be expensive. The next day my wife came down with diarrhea, though I didn't . She attributed the diarrhea to the dish. Another time I had their chicken fried rice and liked it. Small and nothing fancy, King Wok is open late and gives you good quality food for the price. $18 for 2 orders of dumplings and steamed chicken with broccoli and rice. I see mixed opinions here. Judging by what I would expect from a Chinese takeout, I would give them five stars. Yes I eat it at least once a week, order from a variety of places, so I hope my assessment is fair. (1) Clean kitchen. I visited the place and found that it did not reek of grease and the kitchen staff was cleaning the restaurant constantly as they were preparing ingredients. Very surprised by this. (2) Good portions and clean plating. Yes more is better for food, but I'm not a fan of overfilling Styrofoam plates with sauce that overflows by the time it gets to your door. Food is also less greasy and salty than most of its competitors (yes I'm talking other Chinese take-outs). So I wasn't overwhelmed by sauce as I was eating. (3) Good service. The owner smiles and talks to you, not try to take and order and just brush you off like many other restaurants do. I'm shocked by this place. Been living here for a year and did not want to come here. There are at least 3 other chinese places closer to me because around here there's a chinese place on every block, sometimes 2. The food is not oily/greasy! It is still a little bit greasy but in comparison to everyone else, it's maybe 1/3 the oil you are used to. I had to look at other reviews just to be sure I'm not imagining things. Yeah many others say the same! They don't drown the food in the sauce, there is just enough to cover the meat, that is great. They are not hiding bad ingredients/bad cooking by oversaucing, msg, oil, etc. They are making good food and seem confident to only put the amount of oil and sauce necessary for the dish. Tastes fine, not rubbery, not weird. Don't feel terrible after you eat! That being said, it doesn't taste as delicious and crave-able as other places but I feel like the reason why is because other places put so much oil and salt. That can't be healthy. I am hoping these guys don't put so much salt and grease. It certainly tastes that way. If that is the case I would come more often. read more

Had a sudden craving for cheap chinese takeout. I never and I mean never order chinese takeout on the regular simply because we never really had a reason to. So why did we? Just wanted to eat some cheap lunch specials out of the blue. Kung Po Chicken - Saucy and gooey. Some of the veggies were hard and tough to bite into. Not the kung po chicken we expected. Sweet and Sour Chicken - The pork fried rice was surprisingly okay. I ordered the sweet and sour sauce on the side. I tried the same lunch special a few weeks back when my friend ordered it from a different takeout store in East Elmhurst and it was pretty darn good so I wanted to give it a shot in Forest Hills. What kinda threw me off was that they charged an extra 50 cents to have the sauce on the side. The container was small and the sauce was very watery and unsavory. It didn't have the elements of being "sweet and sour". It tasted like a watered down sauce with plenty of food coloring. The bite size chicken pieces were barely filled with chicken. Every bite was just loaded with batter. Nothing really good about it. Crab Rangoon (8 pieces) - Skeptical at first but turns out to be better than I anticipated. It wasn't over fried, didn't taste old and the cream cheese filling was soft and creamy. Not a lot of crab meat but for what it's worth, I enjoyed it more than the lunch specials. Verdict - Lunch specials were $6.15 each. I personally didn't enjoy either of them. The amount of pork fried rice they gave wasn't much compared to other chinese takeout I've seen. The crab rangoons were decent but I wouldn't go crazy over it. read more

I've been retracing my steps while I lived in Forest Hills so this is a long overdue review. This was my go to place for Chinese food while I was living in FH. To be honest I never even tried any of the other places but I never really felt the need to do so. The food taste like Chinese takeout and I always felt that I got my moneys worth. I have both ordered for pick up and delivery, and compared to a lot of the other takeout places I was always happy with their timeliness and service. For delivery I always had my food within 20 minutes, even during "prime-time" as I like to call it. My roommates and I worked our way through the menu and we loved just ordering a bunch of different dishes, settling in in front of the TV and enjoy the food! The place is clean, they seam to be using fresh food, it taste good, and the price is alright. I'm not sure what more you need from your local Chinese take-out place. Recommend**** read more

By far the best chinese takeout in Forest Hills. The chicken with broccoli has little to no grease and isn't doused in sauce . They also offer a good portion of chicken ratio vs the broccoli in the meal. I used to order from here 10 years ago and I recently have started going back because I forgot how good this place is! The kind of warm gooey good Chinese food that soothes the soul. This is my go-to spot for Chinese food in Forest Hills, both for pick-up and delivery. Eating there isn't really an option as seating is very limited. Our usual dinner platter order of General Tso's chicken, vegetable fried rice and an egg roll is a healthy portion size (my wife and I usually split this for dinner and it's plenty) and always hits the spot. They always add some steamed broccoli to the order which helps separate it from the competition. $15 minimum to use a credit card. A great go-to place when you're staying in but are too busy to cook. This is not a walk-in restaurant, so keep the menu on hand at home or at the office. (I tend to order on autopilot sans menu since I've been ordering from them for years. They don't even send me a menu anymore and know exactly how many chopsticks to include in the delivery, haha.) Just ordered from this establishment and this is by far the worst Chinese food takeout I have ever received. We ordered lobster fried rice, scallion pancakes and sesame chicken with broccoli. The lobster fried rice was dry and tasteless. The so called scallion pancakes where just fried pieces of wonton. The sauce for the scallion pancakes was watered down. First time ordering from this spot, didn't know what to expect especially during these times... but this was the best Chinese take out we've had in a LONG time. Our egg rolls were crisp, sesame chicken was actually made with white meat. Lo Mein was delicious too. Absolutely not greasy. Our food was still piping hot by the time we took it home, definitely just made. Cheap Chinese food. Not much to quibble with, here, because you can't go wrong with $7.00 mu shi pork. Said mu shi pork was delish. It's my standby at Chinese restaurants, and King Wok did not disappoint. The egg roll was practically inedible, though, so lose 2 stars for that. Also, they don't take credit cards for delivery.
