There are just some days when classic take out Chinese just hits the spot. When it does, I almost always order from New Joy Kitchen. I go between the General Tao's chicken, chicken in garlic sauce and beef with broccoli depending on my mood. A always get the chicken wings with vegetable fried rice. They are accommodating about substituting the pork fried rice for the vegetable version. The restaurant itself has no ambiance in that there is no seating at all. Not sure if it's always been like this or is a result of changes from the pandemic. It doesn't really affect me because I always just do take out. They're quick, and the food is tasty and arrives hot (if I'm getting delivery). read more

Beware if you have peanut allergies---- friend had a reaction to the pork lo mein. She took some benadryl, got sick, avoided the epi pen, and went to bed. As someone who does not have food allergies, I liked it, it was good enough. Fried plantains were pretty good, got rice and beans which wasn't super authentic so to speak, but got the job done. Probably was regularly cooked basic white rice with some beans. Whatever. I thought the shrimp taco was a little weak but I got a steak and guac taco and it was good, actually had a decent amount of guac in it. Hot and sour soup was meh but it was fine. I'd probably get this again in passing as this place is very close to my friend and was convenient when I got in late from traveling. However given her allergic reaction I doubt I could get her to agree to go, and don't blame her in the least. read more

Good Chinese takeout I used to live in this area I have family that still do wanted some Chinese tried the other one not even a block away which stays open later by far this one is Absolutely Better did the typical American take out fried scallops/pork fried rice steamed pork dumplings and beef noodle soup mei fun "thin noodles/rice vermicelli" Scallops nicely fried crispy outside nice juicy scallops inside fried rice pretty much on point "photo of scallops does not look abundant or the container looks half empty" but it is just 10 scallops they can only fill the container so much Beef noodle soup broth nothing spectacular but it was seasoned well enough no complaints "but I have had better those places were known for noodle soups tho" Also like the fact they separated the noodles/beef/veg and Broth granted I'm legit 4 min walk away but it's a nice touch soggy noodles never fun to eat +1 to them Steamed pork dumplings Nice BIG dumplings filled with very well seasoned meat I like it on the chewy side hence steamed some might not like the texture of the dumpling being chewy but again I personally like it that way so might be bias here dumpling sauce is dumpling sauce it store bought I have it at home but I think they tweaked theirs a bit maybe ginger I tasted some type of spice to it nothing overpowering just an observation This is my 3rd time ordering from them this day this was the order but my previous orders were Chicken wings pork fried rice Hot and sour soup Wonton egg drop soup Chicken broccoli pork fried rice Beef mixed veg Don't have pics of these previous orders but pretty much on point also The hot and sour probably only issue I have for me I like mine to be on the thicker side theirs were a little thin soup wise but taste wise it was like any good Chinese take out so pound per pound if you are the area and looking for Chinese this is the better choice of the 2 that is nearby But don't expect to eat inside the place is not ready/capable of dine in there is a very small table more for just sitting and waiting for take out eating would be a challenge pictures taken about 11 min after picking up the food read more

I placed an order from Grubhub for steamed shrimp and broccoli with brown rice, garlic sauce on the side and two orders of fried chicken wings, chopped up with an egg roll. The food took about 30-40 mins to get to us. My friend didn't eat her food right away but we did share some of my wings which were fried to perfection and delicious. My egg roll was also good and surprisingly not greasy. She ended up taking her food for lunch the following day and said it was delicious. It's a take out place except they have Mexican options on the menu as well. I think there are two or three tables inside to eat in. Typical take out set up. You order at the counter and wait for your food to come out. Its cash only as well. They deliver as well as I have used Seamless to order from them. The food is decent. I haven't tried the Mexican options but Im sure its decent. read more

To the general public, a chow mein is either pan fried noodle or stir fried noodle with some veg and a protein. To this restaurant, it's a tasteless starchy sauce with napa, bean sprout, shredded chicken... and coming with a white rice and a bag of those crunchy snack noodle... I scratched my head once I opened the bag... I know that they couldnt solve the problem, but I still called the restaurant asking them if they are truly Chinese because to all Chinese, Chow mein means noodle and not rice... of course, they have no answer for me since they barely speak English. read more

The spot is literally 4 blocks from my place. - the guacamole which I paid $3 for, Was watery and runny and tasted like they watered down the avocado and overfill with onions.. I paid for extra guac in my steak burrito and barely got any. And a pet peeve. I paid $30 for food, and wasn't even given napkins. NOT okay. I've been going here for years. This is my favorite Chinese place in briarwood. It's much cleaner and the food is much better than the other places. Dumplings, sesame chicken and the beef are all delicious. The best part about this place is they also have a full menu of Tex-mex. Large delicious burritos, excellent quesadilla, yummy tostadas. I have been waiting 1 hour and 2 mins already for my delivery. This place always takes at least 45 mins but this is a new low. The food is below average but since there aren't any other good places near 11435, I am stuck with this. It's like they are trying to set the bar lower and lower each time. Food quality has been crap lately too. Last time I order, which was about a month ago, the food was hard. That and now over 50-60 mins wait time for a simple rice and meat dish.
