    Nước Mía (sugarcane juice)
    Thao H.

BEST sugarcane juice in the city! All the proof you need is in my picture. Because sugarcane takes so long to ship to Boston, it generally isn't fresh and comes out more green/gray, oftentimes with a bit of sand collected at the bottom if it hasn't been thoroughly washed. But here, it is golden yellow. It's the closest you can get to what it's like in Vietnam while in Boston. Although I generally come here for their nước mía, I also love their smoothies. They also serve a variety of hot foods and bánh mì, and do a great job at catering. Support your local businesses!

Delicious!! Only complaint is we ordered 3 banh mi for takeout - two pork and one beef, and when we got home we realized they had packed a fish instead of beef.. disappointing and I did not enjoy the fish. However, the pork banh mi was amazing. Fluffy crunchy bread and good ratio of meats and veggies. We also sat down to have a meal in the restaurant area. Everyone's food was great with large serving sizes. Bun bo hue was super flavorful and the noodles were the perfect texture. Broken rice dish with pork was one of the best I've had, with super tender and juicy pork. Serving size was huge. Overall some of the best Vietnamese food I've had in the Boston area.

Best viet iced coffee in town. With the small crushed/pebble ice. Yerrr! They have a bathroom too in case you're on the go.

I got the banh mi dac biet. While the sandwich was generously sized and the fillings were tasty, the bread wasn't crisp like a good banh mi baguette should be.

3.5 stars but rounded up to support the business. Customer service is slow, and we were the only table there at 1 pm, so I can't imagine what it would be like if there were multiple tables with orders. It took about 25-30 mins to get all our food. Our drinks did come out after about 5 mins. It looks like they have only 1-2 people doing both the kitchen and the waiting. There is nothing special about the atmosphere, and the whole place smells like cleaning products. So don't expect any ambiance. With that said, the ladies were all nice and courteous...just trying to go from one thing to another. We ordered pho ($15), bun bo hue ($14) and hu tieu nam vang ($13), com dac biet ($14). All were pretty good, and had a decent amount of contents. We also got a bunch of their packaged food to go. All pretty yummy. Would recommend if you can allocate more time to eat out, not if you're expecting fast service.

There's only two Vietnamese sandwich places in Boston that's are good in my opinion and taste wise. This one can be comparable to Ba Le. But I think ba le have better breads, meat and pate . It's a restaurant style place with seats and a person to take your order while u are seated down. It's pretty big place and they open early in morning at 5am for the early birds. They also have hot food like deli style and you can select varieties of dishes with rice or noodles.

Banh mi, egg rolls, flour cakes!

I don't think the prices on their menu are justified for the big portions they serve! Yes, they give plentiful ingredients for lower than standard menu price compared to my local area. I don't go to Dorchester often, so I am not sure if the other Vietnamese restaurants within its vicinity have similar price range. But this restaurant is definitely worth checking it out as it has a decent selection to order. I had Bun Bo Hue and my friend had #75 Crab Noodle Soup with Water Spinach. Bun Bo Hue was not spicy, was on the sweeter side, but it was flavorful! They provided me a saucer of chilly oil to adjust spicy level to my liking. #75 was good as well and like I stated it had plenty ingredients (at an affordable price)! If you are looking for modern or intimate atmosphere, this is not it! If you are okay with old school look and closer to homemade food, go for this one!

We were surrounded by a lot of Vietnamese people who were all having a good time. We had the bun bo hue and the bun mam dac biet. The portion size for the price was astounding. If you like fermented seafood broths with a lot of seafood, go for the bun mam dac biet. The quantity of seafood in the latter was astounding. If you love blood cakes, you will get a ton of those in the bun bo hue. All in all, I loved going to this place and would visit again. You should give this place a visit.

We placed our order and then watched three people who came in after us receive their orders before we did. When we politely asked what was going on, the cashier immediately caught an attitude with us and was very rude and disrespectful. The way we were treated felt extremely unfair and, honestly, racist. I understand that mistakes happen and orders can get mixed up, but there was no reason for the attitude or the way we were treated when we simply asked about our order. After this experience, I won't be coming back. It's unfortunate because I genuinely liked the food, but good food doesn't make up for feeling disrespected and unfairly treated as a customer.

I also got the Iced Saigonese -- strong viet coffee, still yummy with the sweetness & the foam on top enhanced the creaminess of the drink. We ordered the BBQ Pork Bahn Mi + egg, I would recommend adding the egg for sure! The egg was creamy & runny, giving it extra flavor. However, Bahn mi itself was not particularly special. We actually ordered the egg after tasting the Bahn mi & it was a little dry. Nice location, seating inside & outside but construction was happening outside, so it wasn't as enjoyable. We had went around 1PM on a Wednesday & the seats were filled. Saw some people with computers, with no problem.

Most of the Vietnamese restaurants in the Boston/Greater Boston area are typically older. But now the question is, is the food actually worth the higher price tag? I would say yes! Service is on the slow side but food was surprisingly quite all right. These are the dishes we ordered today: - cha gio/fried egg rolls - Banh khot/ crispy shrimp cakes - limeade (x2) - pho tai bo vien / pho with eye round steak + meatballs - grilled beef rice plate - an order of nem nuong on the side Thoughts: Food took a minute to arrive to our table. I'd say it was roughly 20ish minutes. It seemed like their cha gio/fried eggrolls were freshly made to order? They were not greasy and stale like they normally are when ordered at a restaurant (premade). I really liked the egg rolls from here, though it had more wood sear mushroom + vermicelli noodles in it rather than meat for filling. It came with lots of veggies, which I appreciate! Banh khot/crispy shrimp cakes were fire! This dish isn't readily available at most other restaurants so we definitely had to get them to try. They used whole shrimp and I thought that the portion size was great. Normally they are much smaller & use smaller shrimp (at least the ones I've tried at other spots). Great flavor & tasted delish. ***We ended up asking for some fish sauce with peppers, we felt like the nuoc mam they gave us was missing something. Fish sauce w/ peppers was much better! Highly recommend asking for this. *** Limeade: For me, it tasted like lemonade. Sweeter than usual. Not the best. The pho tai bo vien was not bad. The broth is on the lighter side. I was expecting the eye round steak to be the thin, round cut of beef but they actually gave thicker cuts of beef. I enjoyed it & dipped with a mixture of hoisin + sriracha. The grilled beef rice plate was great. Our server suggested to get the beef over the pork rice plate, which we were skeptical at first. From our experience, we avoid ordering grilled beef because it is always made too dry so pork is often the better option. The grilled beef was not dry here & we gave it a thumbs up. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at An Nam. The restaurant is super clean, aesthetically pleasing interior, and fresh + delicious food. Can't ask for more honestly. Would like to see the service improve & it'd be nice if the food could be made a bit quicker but we were pleased with the quality overall... so can't complain haha.

We ordered the following: + com thit nuong bo Rice plate with grilled beef. It was actually very filling, good thicker cuts of beef. Yes grilled medium to well done but not super dry like a lot of other places. At the other spots i typically get marinated pork instead of the beef. Good portion of protein, tender for the style of beef and the cook. Comes with rice and veg. I asked for nuoc mam (fish sauce with chili) The Nuoc Mam that comes standard caters for the demographic probably. I like mine with chili's and garlic etc. + Pho Tao Bo Vien. pho noodle soup with round eye beef and beef meatballs. Broth was a bit light in depth probably just needed more time to steep the flavor. Actual cuts of beef that wasn't just a super thin cuts from most others. Good portion which compensated for the price. + crispy shrimp cake Banh Khot i enjoyed this because they use a larger mold for it, giving bigger cakes with FULL size shrimp on each one and not baby shrimp like the ones you find typically. Nice light crisp, flavor was good, dunk em in the fish sauce and YUM. + cha gio eggrolls - enjoyable i personally prefer a more pork ratio to the woods ear vermicelli/veg mix. However still a good egg roll, crispy outside, tasted freshly made, not sitting in a pan all day and heated up making them soggy or extra oily. Not my favorite though. + Thit nem nuong Viet pork sausage, not over grilled, moist and just a nice addition on the side. + 2x limeades. This is typically my goto drink at any Viet establishment since I was a kid. This one I had was a bit more on the sweeter side with a more tart after-note from the lime. Not bad though. Pleasant surprise before our paint & sip event!
