Decent; I've had worse. Meat is decent. Kimchi slices are decent. Prices are decent. I dislike how you're seemingly forced to buy three tacos (for $7) - if I'm not that hungry, can I just have one? Or two? (Maybe you can? I'll ask next time.) Their menu does not make it apparent if this is possible. Gripe aside, they're an efficient operation, and you won't be waiting long for your spoils.

Kimchi Bowl

We were expecting the Korilla Truck but were sadly disappointed when only the Kimchi Taco Truck was there. My family had warned me that this truck wasn't as great so to set my expectations low. This place was merely a pit stop for a snack before we headed to get some curry for dinner. I ordered the fresh kimchi bowl with korean bbq beef. They describe this as a healthier approach to the kimchi taco. It contains everything but the tortilla. We got the bowl with the purple rice. It includes a ton of lettuce that is mixed in with the rice and then it is topped with your meat of choice. Unfortunately, this place was a big disappointment. Although the meat was flavored well, the texture was rather tough. I found myself chewing on it longer than usual. The purple rice was undercooked and with the combination of the lettuce, it made everything that much more difficult to eat. They didn't give that much kimchi and I wish they had because it tasted way better than everything else.

I can't believe the Kimchi Taco Truck isn't on Yelp yet. Had I know, I would have taken a picture of the truck itself for this review. Three little, glorious Korean tacos for $7: -Ground beef, pulled pork, chicken or tofu edamame falafel -Garnished with pickled radish, pico de gallo, green onions and kimchi -Served on small grilled tortillas Consider this: KIM-CHEESESTEAK. $7 -Choose your meat -Garnish with kimchi, Cheez Whiz or provolone -Done up on a hoagie bread -WHAT. Your choice of spicy or mild sauce to-go. Spicy is tasty, not really that fire-hot spicy. The truck moves locations: Mon: Can't remember Tues: Flatiron - 24th between 5th / Broadway Wed: Can't remember Thurs: Can't remember Fri: Midtown East - 46th between Lex / 3rd

I was all happy and exited to eat at the truck but it was just a blah.. The deal was this, 3 tacos for 7 bucks, not bad to be in manhathan, so went for it. one beef, one chicken and one tofu/edimama. The line was 4 people deep and it was moving pretty quick. i also got an order of nachos, kimchi and rice balls. The flavor of the tacos: they were a bit dry and so was the tortilla, i asked a friend to take a byte thinking it was just me but he said the same thing. The taco sizes are ridiculously small, they are made for a kid, you will need 2 orders to get a decent meal. The sides are better off, the nachos were excellent and had more meat on them than the 3 tacos combined and the nachos were 3 or 4 dollars. The rices balls were really good and the homemade kimchi was also decent. I just cant digest paying 7 bucks for miniature dried up tacos. Maybe was just today and i might try them once more to see, but this is just sad.

Pork, short rib, fried chicken tacos.

I met up with my gf for lunch here-well it was near the City Center. Since it was bitterly cold out, there wasn't a huge line and I decided on the 3 taco combo with an extra buck for the fried chicken special taco-the other two being the short rib and pork. The lady got the tofu edamame with 'Spicy Korean Rice Gnocchi' as a side. The tacos each had a their own character but that was because of the garnishes. I couldn't taste the character of the proteins. The pork taco being the most flavorful, again because of the gochujang, pico and kimchi. The kalbi was okay, with the filling being the most flavorful of the bunch. I got a lot of crunch from the fried chicken taco but couldn't taste much else. Similarly, the tofu edamame was not that impressive for the lady friend. The dukbokgi, which is what the Rice Gnocchi was supposed to be was absolutely terrible. We opened the container to find six pieces of really sad looking duk.The rice cakes seemed undercooked, the red pepper glaze wasn't smothered so much as just squeezed out and the cheese didn't make it taste better. The tacos were just okay, and the absolute abortion that was their dukbokgi made it a little disappointing.

3 for $10 special featuring (left to right) the bbq short rib, spicy seared pork ), and spicy grilled chicken.

I stopped by one day when the truck was in Midtown and tried their 3 for $10 taco special. I opted for the bbq short rib, spicy seared pork, and spicy grilled chicken. The short rib taco was probably my favorite - the cabbage and kimchi slaw was nice to cut through the meat. The spicy grilled chicken was fine, chicken was a little overdone, but I did like the chipotle aioli. The spicy pork was good, with a hefty topping of kimchi and red pepper paste. I would note that the corn tortillas were a bit dry and rubbery, which was kind of a bummer, but overall fine lunch eats.

BBQ Short rib bowl -- either I made a poor choice in ordering this rather than a taco or the food here is very overrated lol
Vicky Z.

Ordered the Korean BBQ Short Rib bowl at it's popup in Broadway Bites. Not sure if I had too high expectations for an amazing collaboration of cultural foods and/or if I ordered the wrong thing (maybe nachos would have been better?) but the BBQ short rib bowl was definitely a miss. While portion wise it was generous, there was really nothing amazing or tasty about anything in the bowl -- beef was alright and somewhat dry, and by the end everything just tasted of salty and spicy kimchi and you barely could taste any other flavor in the bowl. Several bites in and I would not know the difference between eating cheap korean food and this bowl because I barely tasted any fusion of flavors. Food: 2/10 Place: N/A Price: 4/10

First time at this truck near Grand Central Station on 47th and Park. Line was long but it moved fast. I ordered the 3 for $7 taco special, which if you order a special taco costs a dollar more. Got the beef short ribs, the Al Pastor Pork shoulder, and the Korean fried Chicken. Should have been $8 but she charged me $6. Psyched. Got back to the office and devoured these beauties. This truck is a must go and the service was snappy.

Came across the Kimchi Taco truck the other night - three tacos for $7 and four for $9, which I thought was pretty cheap. I tried pork and korean bbq beef. The pork was actually pretty good, so it deserved a star. However, I wasn't a fan of the korean bbq beef - was soggy (totally fell apart) and bland. Was not blown away from my taco experience, so I don't think I'll try this truck again...sorry...

*The rating for this review is 2.5 stars* When I found out about this truck I was very excited to track it down and try some of their tacos. When they first started last week, I went after the truck and only to find they were kicked off the street by building owners. And they were done for the day when I checked back on their site. Today, I found out they were in my work area once again. So I ventured out and there were so many people waiting for their orders and on line waiting to place their orders. I've waited 20 minutes on line to finally place my order. Maybe because it was already 1:30pm, a lot of things were already sold out. Bummer. The guy who took my order had a great smile and was very friendly. I ordered the braised pork taco, pulled chicken taco and tofu edamame falafel. I stood aside with the rest of the people and I've waited about 15 for my order to come. I ordered mine with the mild spice. Brought it back to the office. Opened the box and took out the container of hot sauce. Looked at the hot sauce and thought it spilled in the bag, but realized it didn't. Holy taco! They gave me so little sauce for three tacos? I guess I'll live. So I poured the hot sauce on each taco sparingly. The braised pork was okay, it needed more flavor. The mild spice sauce was I guess too mild? So mild I wouldn't have guessed it was spice at all. The pulled chicken was very tender, but again it needed more flavor. The tofu edamame falafel was interesting. I never had a tofu edamame falafel before, but the falafel wasn't really crispy - it was rather hard and dry. The kimchi fillings in each taco was pretty good - it was really fresh and crunchy. The corn tortilla was really soft, but not soggy, so that was good. Overall, I think the tacos lacked flavor. Well, maybe because they just started, so they need some time to pick up the pace and the flavor. However, I can't complain that they are eco-friendly because all of their containers, utensils, napkins and bags are compostable.

At Hell's Kitchen Flea Market
John W.

A friend suggested visiting the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market last weekend, to check out the assortment of food trucks, mostly. One name jumped out at me from the list of participants--KIMCHI! TACO! TRUCK! OMFG it was a dream come true! I had to do a double-take to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. Showed up for the flea market, and the truck already had a huge line. That was because it hadn't opened yet, even though all the other trucks were up and running. So I sat on the line and patiently waited. Eventually the doors opened and they started serving tacos. Because they're pretty much making to order, you generally wait to order, then pay, then wait a little while longer to pick up your food. It wasn't an obscenely long wait, but I personally wouldn't have been able to stick it out that long on a working day. (I've since gone back to the truck at one of its regular weekday spots, and experienced a similar wait--figure if you're 5th on line, it'll be about 10-15 minutes before you actually get your food) As for the kimchi tacos, they are savory and delicious. Perhaps not as kimchi-esque as I'd like, but I guess they can't make them TOO spicy or else they'd have people tearing their heads off or something. They do have hot and mild sauces on the side, but I kinda wish they gave you the option to have a more daring kimchi on your taco. I've now had all four varieties (beef, pork, chicken & falafel), and each has its own special appeal, beyond simply being from different protein sources. The actual overall taste of the taco is distinct, and that's very cool. Love love love the KTT. I'll check them out at the flea market as often as possible, for sure. And on days off, I'll seek them out too.

Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

We got the large beef combination platter which comes with ribeye, thin skirt, brisket, marinated kalbi, and marinated chuck flap. Most people stuck with water, while a couple got ginger ale. I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

But there's no denying that BCD has upped their soondubu game considerably in the last decade+ with a thicker, more deeply flavored broth, and now easily rivals my longtime favorite and gold standard, the OG So Kong Dong in Fort Lee. Then I stumbled into a hack that changed my view: lunch! I ducked in for a late lunch on a whim while walking by one day, and this turned out to be a much chiller hour, unhurried and no reservation needed. I was promptly seated, my order taken, and the banchan swiftly laid out. The banchan spread is solid across the board (the little fried fish does nothing for me, but seems to be a highlight for everyone else). I especially love the kimchi, near-perfect IMO, and the pickled cucumber. There's a modest lunch discount, which is a nice bonus for someone who likes to order aggressively. I usually get an oyster, seafood, or assorted soondubu (with a raw egg cracked in), danger spicy of course! Or go the C1 combo route with a galbi (marinated bbq beef short ribs) + smaller soondubu. It's an enormous amount of food, so I take most of the galbi home and feel no shame about it. The galbi, by the way, has also gotten noticeably better over the years - meatier, tender, and the flavor is on point. I've also enjoyed their bibimbap, bulgogi, jap chae, and seafood pancake. Finally, let's talk heat - this chili-head loooves fire! And BCD's danger level is one of the rare instances where the spice level actually meets my punishing tolerance for heat, not some pretense at "American spicy.," despite this being a chain. Their danger level actually means business and brings tears to my eyes, literally. It's still not my favorite place ambience wise, and dinner remains a contact sport I've mostly opted out of, as gone are the days that I can tolerate a culinary mosh pit, and any wait longer than 10 minutes (and only for a superlative place) will trigger an automatic ejection of my presence. But for lunch? Unexpectedly great. 4 stars for dinner, 5 for lunch.
