I was here 6 months ago to the date. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CHANCE TO CHECK IN..... It was a Wednesday night,  Karaoke night, a friend said it would be fun.... They perform this activity outside their back door, under the tents. WHICH I DIDN'T GET TO SEE There appears to be a step at the door, though the door was staged open I HAD NOT KNOWN THIS UNTIL I HAD FALLEN THROUGH. BOTH MY ANKLES were so painful I could not stand.  A chair and ice were given.  And before I knew it an ambulance rushed me to the ER. After taking exrays, I was told both my ankles were severely sprained, no determination could be made with all the swelling. They wrapped my feet/ankles and give me a walker....which was super hard to use because NO PRESSURE COULD BE PLACED ON THE BOTTOMS OF MY FEET or MY ANKLES TO SUPPORT MYSELF  No Standing No Walking No Sleeping without help    My feet looked like  BIG FOOT FEET. And the pain...  Since then  I have been to see 3 different specialist, the first said in a month or two you will be fine.. and sent me to PT... suggested air case boots. After a month and half of not really seeing or feeling much relief,  I saw another. He said no PT,  its not good for this injury.. Stay off your feet keep them evaluated. I told him, I had tried to put on my shoes and boots. Due to the restricted movement I had in my ankles that could not happen. Give it time and keep off your feet. Another two months of anxious waiting around, sleepless nights due to the pain .The third doctor was a bit surprised by how long ago it accurred and seeing my ankles were still not healed. Also showed him a few pairs of my shoes,, and just how much bigger my feet still were. He has suggested an MRI. to see what may be causing the pain and swelling.    I go tomorrow on 4-15. Kilroys employees never said WATCH YOUR STEP. The area wasn't very well lighted NO MARKINGS ON FLOOR or ALONG SIDE THE DOORWAY  NOW - they are claiming they are NOT AT FAULT.... ...hence my visits to doctors...the pain, the swelling, I have experienced everyday since. The ambulance and ER charges are outrageous. Not to mention the specialist bills. 6 months and counting - I can walk some now, NOT a day trip to the mall, or a day at Disney.....YET just two to three hours tops.... No GYM - no squats as feet don't bend there at the ankle  No bike riding..  as my ankles start to hurt in a short time and swell up. I still can not flex my ankles /feet. The most scary part is starting to stand quickly and my ankles wobble. Not sure footing.... **SO BE VERY CAREFUL IN KILROYS Be sure to watch your step !!!! I can not even count the number of establishments I've been in,  which the host, waiter or any employee stated  PLEASE WATCH the STEP.... or theres tape, a rail something indicating there's a step/steps ahead !! I know this place has been around forever, but it is consistently good. Love their prime rib (and it's nice to have a choice of sizes.) It's quiet, so you can actually hear the conversation at your table. Service is always good. Just an all around great restaurant choice. read more

Our family has been to Kilroys several times and always had the prime rib and were very happy with what we got. This time we decided to try some of the weekly Seafood Feast specials offered on Tuesday nights. The seafood experience was very disappointing. The calamri rings, crab legs, and shrimp were either over cooked and/or tough. The table next to us said that their oysters still had some sand in them. Kilroy's is a favorite. It's been located in the Ravensworth shopping center forever. (At lest to the era in which faux Tiffany lamps were a popular decor item!) I nearly always have mussels here. The best mussels in the Northern Virginia suburbs, I would assert. I usually have the Cajun mussels but also will order the Bleu Cheese mussels. I was worried recently when Kilroy's menu changed and mussels were moved from entrees to appetizers. Luckily, I can still order them as my meal and also put a side Dinner Salad with them. My wife very much likes the Steamed Shrimp dinner and that is her usual order. I did try the flatbread pizza once, but am sticking with the mussels. Ask your server for biscuits. They come out warm and soft. Kilroy's follows it name in the theming of the restaurant. Posters from World War I and World War II line the walls. They are museum quality, and from what I can tell, are authentic, not reproductions. Kilroy's is popular, especially on weekend evenings. Sir, Its Kicks again. I just viewed my bank statement and your bartender charged a whooping $28.35 for 1 undrinkable margarita/sour lime water of ?? !!!! She told me the diet coke was part of the reunion and was free. I didn't even take the diet coke because it was an open container, unmarked and my husband is a diabetic. Not sure if this makes me mad or sad. Either way, $28.35 is outrageous and this female bartender should be ashamed. This reflects on the entire Kilroys of probably very good people. Order came out wrong and then took more than 15 min to make so everyone else was finished. Chicken sandwich looks and tastes like something out of frozen box. Service was slow, and had to ask for refills more than once. Server didn't clear off dirty dishes after apps or main entrees but still asked if we wanted dessert. Tables and booths were old and dirty. Walls covered in dusty frames and light fixtures were as well. Decor was very pro military but no military discount when asked. Just say no. read more

We had our high school reunion there last night. The "cocktail" was the WORST liquid of ?? I ever had in my entire senior life. The bartender she was horrible I asked her for a Diet Coke and she pointed to an open container of ?? I asked how much for the margarita but she ignored me. Will have to check my bank. I was all set to party and spend $$$ but didn't want to chance another margarita/lime water not even salted rim. Others also were disappointed. First time visiting last time. This is an old school American Irish Pub. It's been around a long time and they know what they are doing for sure. I've been only twice so far but both times the service was exceptional. They have several drink specials throughout the week and they are pretty good deals the food totally surprised me tho. Everything I've tried was top notch. The prime rib sandwich was especially good. I have been here for over 15 years. I am very disappointed to say it has gone down and very bad. Fir me every Tuesday and Thursday's was seafood night. They use to have the old man serve everyone and that time seafood was plenty and cooked to perfection. For the last 4 times coming there we now have to order through the waitress and they bring the seafood out. Start with the Snow Crabs if you're gonna sell it for over $34 a pound it has to be perfect. The snow crabs they bought out was dry and definitely low quality. I know they know this but guess don't care. I also ordered the oysters and when it came out smelled really bad so I ask them to take it away and they didn't even apologize. Came here for a late afternoon gathering with a group. On a Saturday it was surprisingly busy already around 4 pm. For a place in a suburban shopping center, it's well decorated and atmospheric, with colorful Tiffany style lights, well spaced seating options (nice booth seats), checkered table cloth and walls covered with an abundance of large and small framed old posters and pictures. Dining room's sectioned so not a big open space but fair sized overall. Granted we just had some appetizer items - beef sliders, onion rings, nachos etc so can't say what the entrees might be like, but the apps are decent if not particularly memorable. read more

I was new to the neighborhood, so I came in here for dinner recently. The decor is that of an old-style neighborhood sports bar. I got fried shrimp ($20.99) and a Dr. Pepper ($3.25). The food was very good. The service was quick and friendly. There were a lot of people there who seemed to be regulars, which is a good sign. No complaints. read more

Popped in for a quick drink Thursday around 5pm. From the view of the low-key entrance from the outside, I was not expecting the atmosphere I walked in to. Music was good, bar stools were full and bar seating was about a third full. I ordered a Guinness and enjoyed the scene with multiple tv screens of all sorts of sporting entertainment. Parking was not an issue as this place is located in a shopping center. Now I know...next time won't be such a quick drink as they had a pretty nice food menu of the bar usuals. Enjoy! read more

I've been here a couple of times and it's about a 2.5/5. The first time we came with one of the kids after house hunting. My boyfriend loved the interior and the 1930s-40s theme. Elise, the bar tender not named "Night B", recommends a 20oz, tall, Solace Partly Cloudy IPA and the famous Prime Rib on a Sandwich. In the perfect amount of time, I had no idea what I was about to experience in my hands. Hitting me as hard as the animal this delicious encounter came from was a flavor-splotion tempered by a medium cooked prime rib. Flavor of the meat was not masked by the light seasoning. One of her favorite Uncles were going to meet us & being the niece & nephew-in-law, we had to go somewhere because we were footing the bill. When an Uncle hears that you are paying for lunch, you know they want to go somewhere special. My wife's Uncle is a Army Veteran & he chose a place where I thought, by the name of it, was Irish, but instead, it has value & tradition to all our serviceman. Let's grab some lunch/dinner at Kilroy's in Springfield, VA Located to the west of the 495 Freeway at Braddock Road Exit on the south side at the Ravensworth Shopping Center, you will somewhat find Kilroy's. There is plenty of parking since it shares with multiple stores & restaurants. On the outside appearance, Kilroy's seems like its just a store. Maybe more people can visit after this review because its not a store that says, Kilroy's, its more than a restaurant, its a LEGACY. When you enter the through the double door vestibule, you'll be transported from the city of Springfield to bar/pub/restaurant where everyone knows your name! We all know what TV show that is. This place is a DREAM..Not Beverly Hills Dream but for those Miltary Enthusiast or everything Americana. We were greeted by the lady at the front door. My wife & I were in awe about this place. As for our Uncle, it was another day at his favorite watering hole. In less than one week in our busy schedule, we visited Kilroy's twice! When you are on vacation, you want to explore more, but Kilroy's left a positive reputation on our 1st visit. If you walk to the right after opening the door, its more of the pub/bar area, which I didn't get to take a glimpse of. If you walk to the main dining area, there are wall to wall photos/art of America from its long cherished history & to our proud veterans who served. From Red Cross to Uncle Sam, you will get the gist of Kilroy's. At the time of this writing, Kilroy's is serving a Limited Menu. However, the LIMITED MENU is still quite a lot. You can grab Appetizers to Salads to Pizzas to Sandwiches to Burgers to Entrees to DESSERT! Please Lord Stop! We had two different servers & regretfully, I do not have the receipt that have the names, but it was female & male. Both were on their game as if every customer mattered. Hence, us wanting to come back to keep trying more of their food. When COVID-19 is over, we will want the full experience. I can see this place jumping like a mad house on a Friday/Saturday Night. We will need that time to relax from the stresses of the world. I don't have the prices of the drinks, but they were beyond reasonable since I didn't see them having an impact on our experience. I know our Uncle wanted Splenda for his Iced Tea. My wife got a Shirley Temple & I got a Ginger Ale. As I mentioned, the menu is still quite vast. Lots to choose from & my wife is a picky eater. She doesn't eat red meat, & tries to avoid fried food, but she saw something in two of Kilroy's Dishes. Our Uncle ordered the Turkey Deluxe ($9.99), I ordered the Chicken Fajita Salad ($11.99). My wife was the only one to order two different dishes on two different visits. On the first visit, she ordered the Rainbow Trout Parmesan with a Caesar Salad($18.99) & on the second visit, she ordered the Fried Shrimp, but she had the Mashed Potatoes. The wait for our food was in between 15-20 minutes. Even with Social Distancing, people still loved coming in & were happy to be separated from the world events. Some of the older folks were happy to see other friends & some had their adult children take them out to lunch. Our hostess/host were constantly refilling our drinks, as if, we were home. THEN...Our food finally arrived. I wouldn't have imagined a Five-Star Dining from Kilroy's, but like the popular phrase, Never Judge the Book by It's Cover. I can't speak for my wife & our Uncle on their experience with their food. Let's just say, they finished it. My wife will be writing her review shortly & I know she will say that this will be a place to head back to in a year. My Fajita Salad was the Bomb. I have no idea if they make their own taco bowl, but it was delicious. They added a scoop of Sour Cream, Guacamole & salsa. Every bite from the sliced chicken to the lettuce & cheese made the experience even better. Kilroy's is purely a Hidden Gem in Springfield! Alright! It's taken me two years to come here after moving in around the corner. Didn't visit the bar but it sounded pretty lively in there. Seated quickly, server was available and attentive. My wife and I were very impressed with the quality of food and how well it was prepared along with cost. Portions were great and the restaurant area was really inviting with a smooth feel to it. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich. While. Love blue cheese I don't think a cup of cheese on a chicken sandwich is ok. And top that with a teaspoon of buffalo sauce, this was not a good sandwich. I ordered a side salad and that was wonderful. My hubby got the prime rib special with spicy shrimp. There were a lot of shrimp but I thought the meat was a really small portion. He said it was delicious but his baked potato was very undercooked. He got a side of veggies and they were really undercooked. When my three kids were in elementary school, my family had visited Kilroy's close to home for one of my families' birthday celebration. Spare ribs were placed in front of me cold, and a waitress took them back still cold when I showed her. I talked to her again and they came back still cold. My kids almost cried when I tried to call a waitress again. So I just looked at it, and my wife and kids didn't eat either for theirs, I didn't put a tip. My kids are now all grown, my family has more chances to eat out. But no one says let's try it. But Kilroys send us birthday invitations every year. This year is the same as every year. No one answer me for the invitation, and it goes into recycling bins again. read more

Kilroy's is our go to bar. I've been around sometimes living here back in the 70s and 80s. I can honestly say I don't think the venue has changed. The walls display lots of memorabilia. Every night there is some sort of happy hour special food and drink. On some evenings they even have small bands performing live. They carry more than enough varieties of beer. People come out to watch football games and other sports events on the many TVs that are hanging on the walls. On a recent visit this past weekend we celebrated a good friends birthday. She rented out the back room. This is an area that's typically open during the warmer months but in the winter they tented off the patio and have some really nice heater lamps. The place is also decorated so if you plan to have a party here you don't have to worry about decorations. The staff was hopping this weekend they were cleaning off tables, serving beers, making shots and making sure everyone was happy. Our friend ordered a variety of appetizers that were nicely decorated large table. They also allowed us to bring our own cake. Overall it's good to know that Kilroy's is just 10 minutes away from home offering many options for those of us to drive out to the city. read more

Got my first whole lobster here! The lobster taste heavenly. For $24 this deal is a very satisfiying one. They have this specials every sunday. They lobster is perfectly cooked its tender and juicy. Match it with melted butter and lemon everything is in harmony. We also got their signature steak that is so yums! No need for extra sauce cause the meat itself is so flavorful! And HoLly C the staff made our visit so easy. She's very attentive and really tries to take care of her cutomers' needs. read more

Kilroy's feels like going home to your family's for a holiday. The staff is friendly without being stuffy, more like they truly care about getting to know you than like they are milking you for tips. I bring my kids and dog to the outdoor section that is heated very nicely for karaoke and everyone has an amazing time. After a few times going when the servers see us they bring lemonade for the kids right away. The singers are freaking awesome as well and crazy nice to my kids. We love kilroys. Edit: dogs are no longer allowed outside in the tent. Which is no biggie, but sucks when you bring your whole family then have to go back home because of new rules. read more

As repeat out of town visitors we thought Kilroy's deserved one of my reviews. When my sister in law asked if there was a special restaurant that I had in mind, Kilroy's was my choice. First let me say it's worth going there just to see the war time memorabilia from World War 1 to the present day. You'll enjoy it the old slogans. The restaurant itself must be a local favorite. It is very busy with happy people. The cuisine is definitely American. The menu was full of many favorites. I personally chose their Signature Prime Rib. They offer an 8oz and 16oz. It was presented as ordered, rare as possible. One can see why so many families were there. The prices were very reasonable. I will certainly return the next time I'm in town. read more

They have been around since the 70's and the decor proves it! Reason for our continued patronage is because it's just down the street from home! When we get lazy, we seriously are dying for nearby bars, and this is the only close one. They offer a bar special every night. On Tuesday/Thursdays until 8pm, they offer crab legs, steam shrimp, oysters, lobsters, and mussels. The price is pretty good. The flavors of the seafood are ok. But then again, it's less than 10 minutes from home. There are some drink specials but nothing to rave about. Other nights, they have taco nights. Their website explains the specials. The food is pretty standard American, they have a few stand out items which mostly revolve around their prime rib (like their French dip sandwich.) The prices are pretty good all things considered and the Americana decor is fun . I've been going to Kilroys off and on for many (over 30) years. The bar is a fun, lively place with good beer service at both the bar and the high top tables. Unless there is a major sporting event, you can usually find a seat at a table, and maybe meet a new friend. I wish they would bring back taco night. The restaurant portion is another thing. Over time, the food has gotten more and more mediocre, while the prices have been increasing significantly. The menu seems to be shorter than before, too. The Santa Fe Chicken is usually good, but usually on the dry side. I recently had the Onion Soup / Slider combo, and both weren't up to par. Soup from a can has more flavor, and there's had little taste or spice. The chicken slider was very poor. Not much flavor, very dry, only onions on the bottom of the bun but no sauce, mayo or anything else. Just blah. I'll be back there for the beer and TV's but I'll be passing up the restaurant. There's better options available. read more
