Found out about half price burger nights on Monday nights. OMG. Huge meal for a great price! Quality is amazing, service is great (thank you Pepper, the best bar tender!!), and it was an absolute great experience. Our leashed dog was allowed on the back patio so it's dog friendly as long as your dog is properly socialized. Kilroy's is a Springfield/Northern Virginia mainstay. Definitely the "every man's" burger joint. Ive never been a huge fan of the quality or selection at Kilroy's. Their burgers are a little above average in quality and price, but their $6, Monday night burger deal keeps me coming back. Any burger (all 1/2 pound) for only $6, every Monday night. You're technically supposed to order a drink to get the deal, but it's not always enforced. One thing to keep in mind, THEY HAVE COMPLIMENTARY BISCUITS!!! I've been going to Kilroy's most Monday nights for the last 3 years, it wasn't until last week when my server finally told me. (Shout out to our server Maddie. I call her the Mary Poppins of Kilroy's.) You have to ask for them, as the server won't bring them without prompting. I typically get the Royal burger or the Firehouse burger. Royal is topped with a sunny side up egg, bacon and American cheese. Firehouse is Colby jack, jalepeño and bacon. Both are fantastic options and are deceptively filling. One of those babies with a few biscuits and you'll be rolling out the door. I only go on Mondays and I only order the burgers. I don't find any other days to be worth the price. If you're looking for a good value burger that will satisfy, Kilroy's is the place to go. **I'm updating my review because I want to bump up Kilroy's from 4, to 5 Stars. I've been going to Kilroy's almost every Monday night for the last few months. They have become my favorite burger joint in the Northern Virginia area. They're so accommodating of all our annoying requests! The people that go here are all cool local people, so it's nice to meet people from the area. Had a 20 minute conversation about Star Wars with a random couple sitting across from us in the dining area. Awesome! We typically get the same waiter, Caitlyn. She is always so good to us! Plus she has a fantastic smile, which doesn't hurt matters. The staff at Kilroy's are always giving us lots of mustard (per our request), not nickel-and-diming us over little things like a side of tomatoes., and accommodating all our special requests. They gave us a free cup of au-jus sauce to dip our burgers. They put the trivia up for us in the dining area (its intended to be a bar game). Which reminds me, they have cool trivia here as well. Been coming for a few years. Food is amazing. Best Prime Rib in the Northern Virginia area and extremely reasonable pricing for everything. Onion soup is great as well. Wings awesome. Mozzarella sticks are huge and tremendous. I can go on and on about the entire menu. Staff from the management all the way down to the bar backs are friendly and personable. Bar staff are always friendly and make an effort to remember your name and drink of choice. Love the Old School vibe. I wish they would bring back the Wing Wednesday but oh well. As one of the only sports bars in the North Springfield area, this place naturally had to be on my list. It's got a great old school Americana type vibe to it, with nightly specials, a decent happy hour and generally good service. The back deck is a nice touch for those who want an outdoor dining option. They've been around for a pretty long time and judging by their prime rib, it's easy to see why. Food was just okay for eating in a dark room, come on management, turn up the lights a little! My wife ordered a Margarita that was basically nothing but ice, no alcohol, and no flavor -- we mentioned it to the waitress and quite frankly, she couldn't have cared less. We were wrapping up our meal and the waitress took our plates before asking if we were finished, and then made some off-handed remark about me having a checkbook in my pocket. Ya know, we used to like this place, but it's gone downhill, so we have decided to vote with our feet. We'll not be spending our money in this restaurant again. Love me some Kilroy's!! It's your local Cheers. A bar full of interesting characters where everyone knows everyone and it's always a fun time. The bartenders are always attentive and aware of the needs of the customers. They get to know you and always make sure your drink is ready. Is it fancy? I had the fried catfish for lunch. Two thin fillets, tartar sauce and lemon. Overcooked largely because it is difficult not to overcook a very thin fillet. The catfish had no particular taste. I chose fries as the side. $22 for the meal. This is not the place to order catfish. I was disappointed. I drank water and no refill was offered. read more

Came in here for a dinner with a friend and everything was just okay. The service was okay and the food was okay. The food was more on the bland side but big in portion. My friend just couldn't finish her food because it was not appetizing at all. The Long Island that I ordered just tasted like vodka... Probably will not be coming back . read more

Don't complain just pay! At least in this establishment! I had the most humiliating experience in my adult life with this disrespectful, rude and aggressive bartender! She threw all her anger of her very unfulfilled life right there in front of everybody! Lol I've been coming to Killroy's for 8 years , because I know some of the regulars and I like seeing them and talking to them. Last week, I had the most rude and inconsiderate bartender, she yelled and never let me say a word! She was unprofessional and inconsiderate to the other patrons, which were very uncomfortable, that they had to witness such a low class attitude of an employee yelling at a customer! All because she wanted me to pay for the first drink , before I could get a second one. All this because sometime ago, I complained that I got two tabs which were mine and happily paid for, but then I got a third one! Which must have been a mistake! Which I also paid! Big mistake to complain! I should have never complained!because the manager instructed the servers and bartenders to ask for payment in cash, after each order! Never mind, that I never had a problem paying my tab, not there not anywhere. The owner it's very nice, however, some of the staff treat customers like they are doing them favors, by giving them a beer! What king of hard labor or skill is to handle a beer to a customer I a nice manner. Beware! The cheeseburgers I was served here was raw. This is the second time I have been taken to this restaurant, the previous being more than a year prior. Both times I have ordered the same items and both times the burgers have been raw. This time proceeding the meal there was added drama my father (a distinguished gentleman in his 80s) was treated extremely poorly by the host a young man in the front who couldn't get off the phone, and decided the right action was to come to our table and scold us because of a misunderstanding of his own making. Our waitress, Paulina, was pleasant and the only positive part of my dining experience. Maybe my experience here is a one off, except it has happed twice. I have the impression the restaurant has been there for a while and seems to be a comfortable place for groups to meet for a meal. My high school class has even discussed this as a possible location for our 40th reunion. As for me I am not sure I am up for another try. This last one gave me quite the stomach ache. read more

Star ratings based on Food, Price, Ambiance, Service and Overall Experience. As preface, This rating is for the Sunday Brunch Only. Ambiance (good) - Plenty of room for seating. I always get a booth and it's more than enough room for a party of four. A lot of old posters and random stuff decorated all over the place, I always feel like there is something new to look at. The lighting in the place is just perfect for my taste, it's comfortable! Service (good) - The service here is probably the best service I get anywhere. Our waitress is always so nice and very attentive. Never got our drink orders wrong and was always near by for refills. The person at the omelet station can be hit or miss depending on the part time student you get as your omelet master. Price (good) - The brunch buffet is not what it used to be but still retains the best for breakfast. Since the food selection slimmed down from what it used to be, the prices fairly reflect the changes. Food (good) - You have all your popular breakfast selections to choose from. Large slices of salty bacon and sausage links!! I also like to pile on the home fries and grits. I usually avoid the pastries, biscuits and gravy because they fill me up too quick. The omelet station is really cool but I just use it for scrambled egg, yes i'm simple. I like to garnish my plate with a healthy scoop of pineapples. When i'm too full to think about more food, I top it off with two waffles! Wow, reading this back to myself sounds pretty bad, but it's so good. Stopped in here after work and before class... didn't really know what to expect... but the space was bigger than I thought it would be. Typical sports bar with lots of tables, tv's, beers on tap, and dimly lit rooms. I might have enjoyed it more if I were a single 40 year old woman. Our server either refused to, or couldn't, rattle off all of the beers that they had on tap. Instead, she volleyed my question back to me with "do you like light or dark beers?" Their options of "light" beers include pretty much any basic Lite beer in existence, plus Stella. Guess what I picked. Hey - at $4.90 for a tall glass (which was enough to ensure I wouldn't be driving for a few hours), I can't really complain. Kilroy's is not a place that an epileptic should ever step foot inside. With probably a good two dozen TVs all playing different things from soccer to UWC (yeah, what?) to some kind of drag racing... this pub/tavern will ensure enough flashing lights to set off a good seizure or two. On the up side, being inebriated and having the great tunes of New Day Rising playing while watching two ripped shirtless guys beat each other into bloody pulps sure makes for an entertaining late Saturday night. Oh, and as mentioned by PC W, get the nachos. They're so worth it. When I saw the giant plate brought out to the other table in our little group of band groupies, I had a sneaking suspicious that I would be tempted to order some for myself. Fortunately, I had a bunch of yelpers to share with, because they were every bit as monstrous as I imagined. Thick, hardy chips absolutely smothered in layers of cheese, with everything from ground beef to sour cream to guacamole scooped on top. Unlike nachos elsewhere, there was no chance of running out of toppings before running out of chips here. Apparently I was the only spicy-eating among the crew, because I -somehow- mysteriously ended up with all the jalapenos, too. Fun times! You know, I'm not sure when this happened, but I have noticed a positive shift in Kilroy's the last few visits so I feel like an update is in order. They have revamped the menu and the food has gotten better and is more consistent. The service seems to have steadied out also, my last couple of visits have been really fun. It's been around forever and I'm happy to see it make improvements that will keep it around for much longer. So, if you're in Springfield and want a laid back place to watch a game (professional or college) and grab some food, Kilroy's is your spot. read more

Great option for Sunday brunch. Food favors hearty over fancy and a couple of dishes left me in the "meh" category, but there was enough I enjoyed thoroughly to let me say that I'd be back if the opportunity presented itself. The belgian waffle boats won me over eventually (I'm a waffle purist) when I realized that the boat shape would keep the strawberries and syrup out of my cooked to order omelet. I also enjoyed the biscuits and gravy, home fries, and the fresh fruit w/ chocolate fountain. But the texture of the hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict left something to be desired. There was also a pasta station that looked good and a nice assortment of pastries, but I'd already hit the wall and didn't get a chance to try. Likewise I didn't sample a few of the savory non-breakfast items on the buffet. There were also raw oysters - pre-opened and on a bed of ice. I love my raw bi-valves but with no idea of how long these had been sitting out I opted to pass on them. I loved the decor and enjoyed looking at all the war era posters and memorabilia. Not that I have anything to compare it to, but if this was my local bar I would have no complaints. I live in the area but I haven't been to Kilroys in 5 years. When I tell you that it hasn't changed a bit, I mean, literally that it. has. not. changed. The decor is the same but dustier and the interior could definitely use a face lift. That said, they have some decent HH specials, including wings that my friend claims are pretty darned tasty. Monday Night Football was the reason for my foray to Kilroy's and there was good sized crowd in the bar for HH (crowded in a good way -- not packed). Service was a bit slow but I'm not sure if there weren't expecting the number of people on a Monday night or if they are just slow. Anyway, our servers were nice but we had to summon them to get attention -- they were not proactively "checking in". My meal was the french onion soup and two beef sliders and they were OK. The onion soup was flavorful, hot and cheesy Overall this is a nice neighborhood spot, nothing to write home about but a good place to chill if I want to stay close to home. I knew there was a reason I had stayed away from this place for so long despite it being located a mile away from my house. I am all about dive bars and local establishments, but there's simply no justification for the dingy, rundown atmosphere and multiple moose heads (WHY would you need more than one, if even one?!) hanging on the walls at Kilroy's. Also, the food is far from stellar. I had the hickory BBQ burger and requested grilled slices of pineapple on top which the server was glad to oblige other than the fact that he clearly thought the request was odd. The burger tasted ordinary and the bun itself was dry. Apparently their burgers do not come standard with tomatoes and pickles - I found out later that they must be requested instead. My friends had the prime rib sandwich and flat iron steak which they told me was mediocre and a solid 3 stars. I had a bite of the steak which was surprisingly juicy but didn't enjoy the pairing with the béarnaise sauce provided, I personally would have preferred an au jus or even A1. I'm giving it two stars based on the other food served to our table. Mine, gross--reminded me of a grade school "minced fried chicken" sandwich they called Buffalo. No sauce, no Mayo, very little spice, not even onion. Wasn't greasy, and there was lettuce and tomato, but that's the closest to positive I can go. Came in during the seafood nights with a couple of friends. They offer shrimp, clams, crab legs, oysters, and lobster. I was extremely disappointed that they didn't have lobsters on the night I visited. Prices were reasonable from what I remember, but not the best deal. The seafood bar is a great concept, and location isn't bad. However, quality of the food was mediocre and seafood did not taste very fresh. Service was also pretty slow and refills on drinks took a while. I don't know if I'd visit again. Maybe I will in the future to give it a second chance, but for now, I'll stick to other places. read more

When I was at a show put on by an acquaintance of mine, I was not surprised when he announced that the after party would be at Kilroy's. Kilroy's is that sort of place...a hood type sports-ish bar that a whole bunch of people can just pop in at. Well, unless there is a radio show event there -- then there is a line out the door (as with the last Junkies deal held here). In the lounge area there's sports memorabilia and college banners. I think I counted about 30 TVs in the dining area and lounge. You can talk to the staff and get one reserved to watch a game with your crew. During the week they have drink and appetizer specials from four until eight. For music, Tuesday and Saturday nights there is most likely a live local band playing and there's a DJ Thursday and Friday nights read more

I was a little bit, okay a lot of bit, skeptical when I first went here. The entire strip mall looks abandoned, and well, for the most part, it is. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Thursday happy hour. First, our waitress, totally cool lady. She did not pressure us to get drinks, and really let our party of 8 or so just relax and have a good time. I also really like the setup of their seafood happy hour. You actually just go to the back of the bar and get oysters by the dozen, clams, shrimp and other seafood by the pound and you pay back there too, so it's easy to manage. If memory serves me correctly, the oysters were $12 a dozen, and the other seafood was very reasonable too! As an aside, you can tell a lot about the place by the clientele and really the other customers were extremely polite, courteous, and friendly too! I've been to Kilroy's many times throughout the years, as I live less than 10 minutes away. I used to come specifically on Thursday for the seafood special (oysters, lobster, crab legs, shrimp) and happy hour. They also make a solid prime rib here as well. I usually sit in the bar area but yesterday was my first time dining in. The reason why I knocked off a star is because 1) the service is a hit or miss. The dine in service was fine, but the bar area's service is spotty. There's a few times I'd have to literally get up and find someone or even when I'm sitting right at the bar, I'm not being paid much attention too. Waitresses and bartenders are nice, though. The second reason is because the hours confuse me a bit. I've called on a few occasions and they said they were closed, but it was maybe around 11... 12? The hours posted said 2am. I just don't like it when businesses close earlier than advertised. When I came back earlier this week I did ask again, and they said they closed at 2. Overall, this is an alright bar. The decor is a little dated and not really my taste but I can't knock 'em for that, because it seems like that's the vibe they're going for and it's just a matter of preference. The crowd is a little older, but the people here and nice and it seems like they have a loyal following of customers. To hell with this place! Starving local residents needing food, my handicapped family went here with an infant baby on a Wednesday night at approximately 8:45 pm. They had an outdoor dining tent with the kitchen advertised open for regular dining until 10pm, after which they only operated their bar until midnight. When we went to get seated, with almost nobody there, one of the two bored waitresses reading magazines or something at one of the many free tables, came over and told us the entire outside area was closed to anyone under 21 after 9pm, so it could be considered part of the bar. We asked the waitress for a manager, but she blew us off and went back to reading and chatting with her coworker/friend. So, I went inside to see the manager. He couldn't have given less of a damn. And he only argued. Even though the tent out back was on the opposite side of the entire property from the bar - it was part of the bar. And, if we wanted to eat - the area was only inside - during the coronavirus pandemic, for a baby who cannot be vaccinated or wear a mask! After having to take our hungry and now crying baby back to the car in the rain, we said to hell with this place and went over by the mall to another bar and restaurant. They had no such ridiculous policies, happily took us, and kindly provided service to our baby. To hell with Kilroys, who was more interested in getting people drunk early on a weeknight and sending them back onto our streets instead of feeding local families. TERRIBLE! We could never recommend this place, whose good was always just mediocre anyway, because their policies and management are so terrible, discriminatory and even dangerous to a baby. Go to Yard House or somewhere else by the mall, or some other Resturaunt that actually wants your money and cares about their customers, food service and community! read more
