We were visiting our daughters in DC and they live in the Hecht apartments right next door so they talked us into going. We had a really great time. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Food and drinks were way better than I expected. It's really a very cool place to hang out and through an axe. We got in 4 rounds of 21 in an hour even with practice and instruction from our amazing axe instructor. I felt safe the entire time and we had lots of fun! It is a must do kinda thing for sure. Let's just say this place is AMAZING!!! Not only is it some where you can go to mingle and let off some steam... it's also immaculately decorated, top to bottom! The manager Shane was beyond helpful and knowledgeable on the ins and outs of axe throwing. Shane also offered drink suggestions! We initially had a reservation for 4:35pm. We had such an amazing experience we stayed until 8pm!!! The drinks are yummy and the food was delicious!! Our party tried all the items on the menu and ordered a second batch of our favorites! We all loved the meatball satay, macaroni balls, pigs in a blanket and the steak satay! All items were must try's in our opinion! I was surprised by the amount of one on one assistance Kyle (the axe throwing expert) showed us. As we we're not the only group he was assisting! Often in the DC area we try new establishments and they just aren't up to par... Kick Axe is definitely an amazing experience with a dope staff! We felt very welcome! Great group gathering. The staff were very flexible with accommodating our group despite our tardiness. Food and drinks were great and with good variety and portion size. Prices were reasonable. I wish food orders could be placed from you bay, instead of walking back and forth to the bar. When the bar is full, it's awkward to wait behind people until somone can take your order. Place is overrated, 12 people packed into a single axe throwing booth. Got cut short 10 minutes and each person only threw about 4 times in 50 minutes. Last minute random people were added into our throwing lane and instructor had to start briefing again. Took forever to get a drink and food and place was not busy. Update: Sam reached out and heard my situation. One time mishap and was sincere and understanding. Sam's professionalism corrected the situation and I can't wait to go back. read more

Came here for my birthday; looking to try out something new and exciting. I chose the Axe throwing!! The decor was lovely!! My instructor was Dom, He had great customer service and personable. Rude front desk staff spouting unnecessary comments about the guest while the guest is standing right there. If I could have cancelled my reservation right then and there I would have but the company has a BS cancellation policy of at least 24hrs prior to visiting. Definitely will not be back. read more

This was fun! I was a bit nervous, you know throwing axes! But after a few horrible practice throws and even being given a different axe. I got the hang of it and used the normal axe. I think I was in my head too much. I recommend this as a really fun evening with friends and beer! read more

Kick Axe!!!!!! One of the best gems in the city!!!! The staff were very informative on using different techniques for throwing, we had ACE and he was the best. He kept healthy competition between the groups and course-corrected when we had mishaps. Sean, the bartender was also very attentive and the drink were really good. I facility has other games and a bar upstairs that was a lot of fun. Football bowling was so much fun and the decor is like a tropical escape, perfect for Sunday funday!! Go to Kick Axe!!! I had a lot of fun here but the place needs some work. Let's break it down. This is a huge bar/game/axe throwing venue. They have two floors. The top floor has a nice bar, fowling and cute cabanas to sit in. The main floor has the axe throwing, another bar and more seating. When I tell you the decor in this place is absolutely STUNNING. So instagram and tik-tok worthy. If you didn't want to go axe-throwing just going to grab a drink would be enjoyable. The process of booking isn't too bad - it was a little confusing but just give them a call. That is what I did and I spoke to Allison. They don't pick up but they will almost always call you back. So as for my gripes. You pay per hour and during the week it's $25 and then for the weekend its $29. I don't have a problem with this but to me it technically isn't a full hour. Why, you ask? Because they spend around 15 minutes checking you in and going over their house rules (how to throw the axe, things you cant do, etc.). I don't think this is the way they should do things. I would highly suggest that you don't include this in the one hour slot that people pay for. It just takes away from the time to enjoy the actual game itself. My other gripe was that the lane we were given had a really torn up board. So torn up that I think it affected our axes sticking into it once it was thrown. I looked around and saw that everybody else's board looked a lot sturdier than ours. The last thing I want to say is that some of the staff were a little rude. The friends that I came with don't speak english that well so they were yelling at them when they accidentally handed off the axe to each other rather than putting it on the stump. And when I say yell, I mean SCREAMED at them. Please be a little nicer to your guests and understand the kind of people that come to your establishment. I wouldn't mind going back here but I would hope they take some of my comments into consideration. read more
