Came here for a bonding activity for our group. There is a lot of seating upstairs as well as a couple games that our team enjoyed while waiting for other groups to finish. We did one of the rooms that had a level 8 difficulty. The staff who was helping our room was super nice but as a first timer at an escape room, I was kind of confused at the video and where to start. The video that explained the challenge was also a little finicky, making it hard to watch. The walls in this section are also pretty thin as we could hear a lot of the other groups when we were trying to solve different challenges. We escaped and had about three minutes left! There are unlimited clues and you can hit a button for a new clue to show up on the TV.

We did The Mummy room and escaped! Just beware that room is full of sand, so wear shoes you're ok getting sandy. The staff were friendly and informative. We were a smaller group, so another small group was added to us. We were able to work together well even though we'd just met.

Unique experience with friends in this fun escape room activity at @TheEscapeGame ! * 60 minutes to escape! * Up to 8 friends for each game! * 8 different games to choose from! * Different levels are available! We had so much fun trying to find clues and solve puzzles with friendly competition!

This was a date day for us. We drove up and had a blast. I think it's really cute that they have games in the waiting area while you wait for your turn. We did the titanic room and it was pretty cool. I wish it was more to find in there but it was my boyfriend and I and another couple. I'm really happy there was no one else there. That room with the level of difficultly only needed the 4 people. I enjoyed it and we escaped with 15 mins left to spare. I would go back again.

Incredibly designed rooms and amazing staff! Matt, Abby, Jenae, and Sam were an awesome team and made our date night extremely special! We definitely recommend considering this as a great family/friends bonding experience for everyone, totally worth the time and money! During the weekdays a second game is 40٪ off, so we did 2!

Had a great time at the Escape Room with my friend. We opted to try out the Curse of the Mummy. We went midday on a Wednesday and had the game all to ourselves. Zane was our host and was extremely helpful throughout the experience. He was extremely friendly and welcoming. This location has a bar with snacks and wine and beer. They also have a huge game room area for fun before and after your experience. We had a lunch reservation following our game but were offered a couple of different options. The first was 20% off a gift card for a future booking. The second was 50% off another game if we stayed to play again. I'm excited to return to this location and try out a few other rooms. Zane allowed us to get a sneak peek before leaving!

Came here a random Saturday night. Don't have any pics from inside, just from the games we played while we waited. That was a good addition, there were plenty of games to occupy yourself while you waited for your time slot and a cash bar. The actual escape room was fun. I think ours was the Titanic or something like that. Was good times. You should go and check it out. The staff was extremely friendly. You should have a good time.

Ask the Community - The Escape Game DC - Georgetown

Is this place okay for kids say 10 and 14 years old?

Yes! They enjoy it very much with some adult assistance.

If we book a room and nobody else signed up for the same slot, will we get the room to ourselves?

    Yes

Is there a certain amount of people needed to do it? We're a family of 3 only so we were wondering if we could do it or do we need more people?

you can definitely go as a group of 3. My fiance and I like to do rooms just with the two of us, you get to solve more puzzles that way :) I'd say go for the most empty room possible!

I had the best time celebrating my birthday here! Eli, Britney, and Cooper are the ABSOLUTE BEST!…read moreWe played on a Thursday night (4/30/26) and were immediately greeted with smiles, pleasantries, and instructions on checking in. I had notified them when booking that we were celebrating my birthday, and they put up a happy birthday background on the screen. Eli even took pictures of us pre-show in the game room. I was extremely touched by Eli and Britney's kindness and their above-and-beyond gestures! Britney presented me with a handwritten birthday card after the game show, and Eli gifted me with a t-shirt I was going to buy after the show. I hope they both know how special they made me feel; it truly warms my heart to have experienced their thoughtfulness, generosity, and kindness! I am FOREVER GRATEFUL and APPRECIATE ALL THAT THEY'VE DONE!! Now for the details: The game is an hour long, and if someone else books the same time slot, you may end up playing with random strangers, which we did. We definitely got our butts handed to us, but I still had fun! It consists of about 5-7 different randomized games. It's blue vs. red team, and the setup is in the style of a traditional TV game show, ranging from Jeopardy-style format to Wheel of Fortune, trivia, Family Feud, and Idiotest, etc. You really do feel like you're on a TV game show with a live host, buzzers, a big wheel to spin, and confetti exploding at the end! They do have some physical games; however, we had to forego those to be fair to the other team, which had a teammate on crutches. Britney was a lot of fun--super patient and considerate! I got a kick out of having to fill out the scantron with a big a#$ pencil. Make sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to your time slot. They have plenty of free games to play while you wait, and they have a bar to purchase beverages or you can ask for tap water. The Escape Game is also located in the building, and they have merchandise for sale, as well as merch for the Great Big Game Show. They have really cool shirts and hats available! At the end of the show, they offer 15 or 20% off your next booking. I'm not sure if there's an expiration date, but I hope not because I would love to come back. However, we live in VA Beach, so it's quite a drive. They do have restrooms. Parking is available in various parking garages among Georgetown. We paid to park in the lot next to RIMTANG which is really close.

We chose the Mafia room, and from the moment we stepped in, we were transported to the Prohibition era. The atmosphere, the design--everything felt like stepping into a vintage crime thriller. The puzzles were super engaging--challenging enough to keep us on our toes, but perfectly balanced for the time limit. I especially appreciated that each room is a private experience, so it was just our group working together, which made it even more special. Martina, our host, was incredible--welcoming, professional, and gave just the right hint when we were stuck without taking away the thrill. We cracked the final clue with five minutes to spare and left feeling exhilarated! The location is a hidden gem--tucked in a quiet, walkable corner of Glover Park, close to restaurants and shops, and very easy to get to. I came for a friend's bday and we did the mafia room and we got the all-time record with 31 minutes left. It wasn't easy but definitely not hard. I've done escape rooms where it had a lot more puzzles (some irrelevant to actually solving the escape room). But I felt the mafia room would be great for a family or group of friends, both casual and competitive. Most of us were competitive hence the time and using no hints. Would love to try the other rooms. Despite it being on the corner of Wisconsin Ave, a busy street, there was plenty of street parking and very accessible. Love that it isn't a totally busy neighborhood.

As a four-person group, we decided to take on Poe's Chambers. The theming of this room is immaculate! Just the door to the room evokes the early 19 hundreds. Poe's Chambers really makes you feel like you're in the creative poet's home. I loved the overall feel! My fiancé and I were able to get the group through some of the puzzles, just due to our vast experience with rooms. I believe even our first-timer friends were able to see how we were making the connections and able to get their brains going too! I felt like we all really handled the room well and that it was friendly to them. There is one puzzle in particular I think E.R.A. needs to update. If it doesn't sit just so, it's easy to miss the clue. Though, everything else in the room worked flawlessly. Our game master was very attentive when we asked for two clues, though it took us a bit to decode her hints. We got out with 7 minutes to spare. I can see why this room would be an 8/10 difficulty. It's a fairly linear room, which I prefer when it comes to games. I've done rooms that feel scattered and those frustrate me to no end, lol. I do think a group of beginners might struggle, just a bit, in this room. Truly though, great room! I hope we'll get to go back again! 8/10 recommend

I'll be honest; this isn't typically my kind of activity. But it's been on my "I guess I should try…read morethis at least once" list, so when one of my new friends picked it for her birthday, I said why not...and I'm actually glad I did! We had 7 of us total (supposed to be 8, but one friend couldn't make it), and split into two teams: 3 vs. 4. BABY!!! Teamwork is not optional here You need communication, quick thinking, and a good sense of humor because you will be stressed and laughing at the same time. We went through 4 different escape rooms: won some, lost some, but the real win was the experience. The friendly competition between both teams made it even better. It was giving "we are NOT losing to y'all" energy the whole time Now let's talk about the finale...THE PAINT BOMB. The white hazard suits?? The chaos?? The fun?? 10/10. That was easily my favorite part. Overall, it took about an hour, which was perfect for a group activity, not too long, not too short. My only con: the communication about the photos/videos. Apparently, you have to opt into text messages to receive your paint bomb pics, and nobody clearly explained that. Most of us opted out because...hello, spam?? So my group didn't get our content while the other team did. We had to go on a whole mini investigation and track someone down, which wasted time. BUT I will say that the staff was super helpful, and the manager ended up finding our files and sending everything the next day. So, it worked out, but it could've been explained way better upfront. Also, yes, they serve food and drinks (including alcohol), so if you're trying to make it a full "outside" moment, you absolutely can. We skipped it since we had a late lunch reservation right after, but the option is there if you're trying to get a little litty... Would I do it again? Maybe not regularly, but for a birthday, group outing, or something different...

The games were challenging not because of the puzzles but because of the technology used. in one of the games you had to put your wrist band up to the scanner but the scanner didn't work causing us to lose more time. The last problem was that the haz mat suits did not work on keeping the liquid out. I was completely soaked from the waist down. I'm not even sure how that was possible. I will pass on this experience in the future unless someone truly wants to go and I can be assured that the games have been fixed and updated.

They have a large beer, wine, and liquor list (although not nearly as many English beers as I expected from a place called Crown & Crow). I won't deny that I wasn't a fan of either of the mixed cocktails I had, with both (including strangely a smoky drink) being too sweet. But the beer was expertly poured and the wine was a very generous serving. The prices are also more than reasonable, which is great for a DC bar. But what really elevates this place is the service. By late night, the place was jam packed. But each and every bartender was extremely friendly and they expertly worked the crowd, getting drinks served quickly (which too few places manage to do) and swiftly clearing off tables of dirty glasses.
