Hilarious comedians! Small place and first come first serve seating, so you'll want to come early...and get a drink at the bar. Some reviews say the drinks are okay, but I really enjoyed my drinks and thought they were great. They only have snacks available to purchase, so I recommend having dinner beforehand. This place is great for singles, couples, and groups.

Downstairs - this is where the comics did their stand up routines!

I was here on a busy Friday night and had a fantastic time! We were seated near the back (which I appreciated, as it was my first stand-up comedy show ever and I was nervous the comics would do crowd work). They offer drinks in the back, including high noons, which makes it a fun date night spot since you can drink while listening to the hilarious stand-up routines. They offer snacks, but we had eaten prior to coming, otherwise that would have been a nice option.

Fun spot for DC comedy shows and improv. The artist list can be hit or miss, but it's a casual vibe and you can easily pop in for a show. The night I went, it was a mostly full house. But my group got there 15 minutes before the opening and we got seats in the second row. Score! The staff is really kind here - from the greeter/host to the bouncer and ticket check. Surprised how much service we got for such a laid back event! The bar serves standard drinks. Sometimes people can get sloppy and spill/drop their drinks, so be careful of the stickier floors (just expect that at divey establishments!)

A night of comedy and drinks and chips. Montreal good but decent laughs for $25 per person. This is a place to. One and support local comedian talent. The talent is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get. The bar tenders are on point. Overall this place gets the job done, it's nothing fancy to look at. I would give this a visit again but maybe not my first choice. Overall I think every and anyone should support the talent here.

This is my first time attending to a stand up comedy show in DC proper (I've gone to a few shows in MD and VA neighborhoods), I took my husband to a date in this place since he is really loves Comedy Shows! I would like to give the benefit of the doubt and maybe this night (Saturday 6th, 7PM show) was not the best for either the team of comedians or the crowd was not feeling coming to the show? The people arriving earlier to the show, were saving the best front row for at least the 15 min of the show, and the people seating in the middle section were very bored that off-put the comedians lol. I have a mix feeling of not the right audience for the people presenting (it felt really odd, since we were such a small audience, yet most of the time the comedians were uncomfortable and same for the crowd). I will probably give it a try on a weekday night during their free nights (which are Wednesday and Thursdays). I'm not sure if there's actual food in the venue, but they do have sodas (like Coke and Diet Coke) besides hard drinks. You can find lots of eateries around the Adams Morgan area, even other bars to pre-game! Don't forget your ID!!!

We had a great time seeing some local comedians here! The show was reasonably priced for the talent. The drinks were okay but I wasn't expecting anything crazy. Pricing was on par for DC. Good alternative to going out in the city. Would definitely go again!

Checked out this new bar and comedy club the other day and, while there still seems to be some adjustments they can make as a new business, it's off to a decent start. There are currently free shows in Wednesday's and Thursdays. We went to the 8pm show. We found it annoying that they didn't let anyone downstairs to get seated until like 5 minutes before the show and it was a stampede. We had arrived at 7:40 to try to get lined up or get good seats. The drinks leave something to be desired. $14 for crappy bottled wine (small bottle, too). The Aviation cocktail was ok but not the best I've had. The comedy show was definitely good for being free! There we're around a dozen comics doing short sets. Naturally some were better than others but we got our laughs. I'm sure we'll back for another show, and I hope the business can improve the drink menu and continue to fine tune their operations

I recognize that the Magic Duel takes huge pride in 5 star reviews on Yelp, which I deeply respect. But I did wish that we had seen the show in a different venue. I am no stage expert, but lights and sound do matter a lot in delivery of a magic show for a skeptic like me, going because the significant other loves magic shows. With better lighting, things would have been more "magical" (thinking bottles.) I was also surprised that a bubble artist, as good as she was in her profession, was considered a magician. After some quick research, you will end up at Magic Duel in this genre, so please go to Dupont or Georgetown.

This is not to take anything away from the comedy. We saw Leslie Liao on a Thursday night, and she was fantastic! I can't say the same for her openers, but they are starting out and will get better with experience. The loft is small, and people are packed in there pretty intimately. I had a lovely conversation with a guy from Baltimore on my lap (only slight exaggeration). Plus, it was hot...really hot. Like Leslie did an improv set as to how hot she was as the headliner hot. As with any comedy club, it is a two-item minimum per person in the club. They were out of my first three drink orders (which were canned CutWaters), so I got a $13 margarita in a Dixie cup (again, slight exaggeration). We also ordered a brownie sundae, which was a single scoop of ice cream from a spoon and a square brownie they probably microwaved from Duncan Hines. We did learn that a $4 bottle of water counts as an item, so that's where we made up the difference. At the end of the day, we laughed and had a great time with Leslie. Would I go back? Probably not, we were visiting out of town. But I don't regret supporting local comedy houses and comics!

Dear reader, The…read moreComedy Loft of DC is one of those places we happily return to again and again, which rather tells the story on its own. We have seen many comedians there over time and always have an awesome time. The space has that intimate, classic comedy club feel that reminds me of a New York club in the best possible way. It feels lively and close enough to the stage that the whole experience is more engaging, but never uncomfortably cramped. The drinks and food are also genuinely good, which is a lovely bonus when a venue could easily rely on the show alone. What really stands out, though, is the staff. They are super nice, impressively quick, and somehow manage to move through the room so quietly that there is very little disruption during the show. You still get your drinks and food without feeling like the performance has been interrupted, which is no small feat. Overall, it is a thoroughly reliable night out with great energy, good service, and a proper comedy club atmosphere. We will absolutely keep coming back.

If you've never been, just know this isn't your typical theater outing--it's way more interactive, chaotic (in a good way), and just plain fun. When you walk in, there's a bar, but you don't order directly from it. Each seat has a QR code, and the staff delivers drinks right to you, which is super convenient. Once you enter the theater area, you're even given a complimentary shot to kick things off--great way to set the tone for the night. The venue itself is small and really intimate, which makes the whole experience better. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The seats along the stage are bench-style with cubbies underneath for your stuff, while the upper-level seating has stools set behind bookcases that wrap around parts of the stage. The drink menu includes themed cocktails, plus wine, beer, and spirits--expect to pay around $15 per drink. There are also light snacks, but portions are small and a bit pricey, so don't count on them to fill you up. If you do order food, the stools by the bookcases are definitely the best seats since you'll have a surface to put your plate on--otherwise, it's lap dining. As for the show itself, it was fantastic. There's a lot of audience participation, and the actors absolutely commit--including proving they're actually drinking. One thing I didn't realize beforehand is that not the entire cast drinks--there's usually one designated drinker, which honestly makes it even funnier and leads to some unforgettable moments. The performance is an abbreviated version of the story, mixed with plenty of local references that keep it fresh and relatable. The Drunk Shakespeare company also puts on other holiday-themed shows throughout the year, which is awesome. I'll definitely be back to check out Drunk Christmas Carol.
