This table service was quick and the food was fresh and delicious. The coffee was great too. However, the portions are small considering for the price, $12 for a small bowl! We were seated in the back and the wall was crawling with bugs. We asked to be seated elsewhere but OMG they didnt even apologize or feel ashamed that there were bugs in their restaurant! I have probably been here maybe 3 times in my life over a period of 15 years. It is just one of those places that somehow draws you back every half decade or so and I can't explain why. I tend to forget my experience here completely after a few years I guess. So after my 3rd time here, once again it was completely as I expected. The word that comes mind when I walk in here is..."interesting",,,, Well, first of all, I can never tell what the heck is going on with the decor. I think Khanh's might have originally been like an old Marie Calendars or the defunct Baker's Square or some old-school Grandma-style diner from the 80s or early 90s. Either way, the set up and decor has always baffled me. As far as the food goes, I don't even have to go through in detail about the dishes because all i have to say is that the food is "tame". Service was decent and also awkward at times but nothing unexpected. Servers were polite and the wait for the food was not long. But yes, all the food was "tame" and "safe". This is the kinda place I would recommend to the more "mature" crowd who has never had Vietnamese food. That would probably be the only crowd I recommend to come here. We have had nothing but great food served by kind and gracious family members in a warm and family oriented atmosphere. We have gotten to know the sweet couple who owns it. From the moment you walk in the restaurant, you are greeted by the most lovely staff and are welcomed to be seated in their atmospheric and spacious dining room area. The native dishes they offer are impeccable and scrumptious!! Some of my new favorites included the Vanh Hoo shrimp platter, Shaken Beef platter, the Fresh rolls & Egg rolls to name a few.......I can not wait to visit again and bring my family so they can also enjoy this wonderful venue. Collectively, my dining companion and I had four items, and every one of them was a "B" - I've had worse versions of everything we tried, and better versions of everything we tried. It's the 50th percentile, to me. Unless we just ordered terribly wrong, this was an experience of utter mediocrity. If you're hungry and you're there, it's fine. When I entered Khanh's it was very clean and nice looking, not your typical local Vietnamese restaurant. Ordered caramelized fish in a clay pot, I'm guessing it's similar to ca kho to? It was a more basic version of co kho to. It wasn't too bad, the sauce that was with it was flavorful. The service was incredible. You would never have to worry about your water cup being empty. I would definitely come back and try other things on the menu because it was my fault I came 13 minutes before closing time so some of the things on the menu were not available due to kitchen closing. Several colleagues and I had a nice business lunch at Khanh's. Food was good but not exceptional. A little salad and rice came with our entrees. The salad was pretty standard, but it came "wet", as iceberg lettuce and a tomato wedge served in a pool of sweet vinegar water at the bottom of the dish. I expected it to be boring but I actually found it refreshing and enjoyable. I ordered the chicken curry, which was served in an individual metal pot. The curry wasn't spicy at all, and I was expecting a thicker broth. Still, it tasted fine and I might order it again. The dining room at Khanh's looks a little dated, straight out of the 1980s. More like a 3.5... Not quite a pho joint but not quite a fancy Vietnamese restaurant. Just in between...The place itself is huge! Plenty of seating for customers. Not only were there Asians, but there were many other people enjoying this place. My friends and I just did a shared family style, we got 2 bowls of pho, a Vietnamese crepe and the sampler appetizer. I thought the food was good! The pho was good, it tasted fine and had good flavors. The crepe was big and good, except I didn't like how they put coconut milk in there (I know you are supposed to) but I think it was a bit too much. Didn't like that too much. The sampler appetizer was good, came with eggrolls, spring rolls, Vietnamese meatloaf with some crackers. We asked for many things and the service was on top of it! It was good service for a Vietnamese place. I think I like this pho better than the ones in Cupertino. We went here for dinner tonight since I was craving for Banh Tam Bi (they only have these on the weekends). For us, we love this place for its service and the people there since we have been frequent here for years so I might be bias on this review. But then again, I will try to do my best and be fair and frank to the yelpers. Service? 5 stars Cleanliness? 5 stars Price? Food? Hmmm...let me explain. There are dishes that you should come here for and there are dishes that you SHOULDN"T come here for IF you are looking for that authentic taste to it. Obviously by the feel of the place, you have to know that this place is gear more towards "fusion" side. So, here are the dishes I have tried over the years that I would come back for more: Spring Rolls - the secret is how tight the roll is, which make the roll tastes so much better ... and if you ever roll one, you will appreciate it even more! They really do a great job here. Shredded Pork Rolls - only serve on weekends Bun Tom Thit Nuong - the shrimps are big compare to other Vietnamese places and the meat is really tasty. Banh Xeo - the secret is in the crunchy and NOT oily crepe Shaken Beef - I always get this w/salt+pepper+lemon juice mixture Banh Tam Bi - only serve on weekends Curry Chicken w/Bread Flan Dessert Don't get these if you are looking for authenticity: Ca kho Canh Chua If you are looking for a bargain on food, don't come. This Vietnamese restaurant is located across from Santana Row - a pretty primo location. They've been around for a long time (since before Santana Row was developed) and inside it sort of looks like they took over like an American breakfast restaurant and kept all the furniture and walls and carpets the same. The first time I came here was years and years ago and I remember the food being good - we had a rice noodle bowl (bun) and the shaking beef rice plate. On my most recent visit, we came in to get pho, because we were too lazy to drive all the way to east san jose, or to an actual pho restaurant. They had a beef pho and a chicken pho (no veggie pho which I would've liked). I ordered the chicken pho (because I don't eat beef pho) and it was fine. It comes with white meat (and I am a fan of dark meat), so it was I guess healthier. The server brought out the sprouts and the mint and the jalapeno peppers slices, and then brought out our pho. I wish the pho came with more noodles though. I love eating noodles and not so much broth or the meats. The service was quick - we were seated right away and brought menus. A few minutes later the server came to take our order and brought us our waters. Then a few minutes later our noodle soups came. The server came by while we were eating to refill our waters which was great. Then he came by one more time to give us our check (less than $20 for two bowls of pho) and started clearing our table when we finished. He told us to pay at the front, where the cashier was. The service was great, the location is pretty great too - close to Valley Fair and Santana Row, and they have their own private parking lot. The food is just okay - not super amazing. But there are always people eating here (including Vietnamese people) and they've been around for so long, they must be doing something right. read more

I used to be a die-hard spring roll fan but have converted over to their fresh rolls because they're even better! Khan's thai iced tea is also the best I've ever had. Long time family favourite that never disappoints. We've been coming here for 14 years and followed them from Stevens Creek to Campbell. The grilled shrimp/bbq pork self roll-ups are always on our order as are cha gio and beef pho. Sad but totally understandable that they no longer offer tendon & tripe for beef pho but still delish & they are happy to adjust ingredients to make it keto. The first time I came to Khanhs, I loved their food and service. However, the last two times I've been there, I was not happy with the service. I always get a noodle bowl with pork and egg rolls (half half). Twice, the waiter and the cook have not been able to make my order correctly even when I showed them a picture of what I was served! I was really disappointed when I received my noodle bowl. It only had a 3 small pieces of egg roll and lots of meat. I usually get 6 egg rolls pieces and three pieces of meat cut up (half and half). I showed the waiter the picture again and he went to talk to the cook. The cook refused to changed the order. Aren't restaurants supposed to put the customer first? Whenever someone makes a mistake with the order, they need to fix it. That is the proper thing to do when one owns a restaurant. I am not coming back to Khanhs. Man. Drove 5 miles over here for the $8.50 beef noodle soup. Looks great. I can understand a few dollars in different price-- but $10?? It's now $18.50. Cone on now. Tim's me they don't have anything to do woTh the prices on yelp. Say whaaaaaaat??? Settled for the $8 wonton soup. It was horrible. To be honest she offered me the kids beef soup for 8$. This is the second time we've eaten at Khanh's restaurant in a week. Last time I had Khanh's Gourmet Delight which was a delicious combination of grilled chicken and shrimp sautéed with a beautiful combination of vegetables with steamed rice. My husband had the barbecued beef plate which was also very enjoyable. Tonight we both had their yummy chicken noodle and beef noodle pho soups and and their wonderful fresh rolls. The service was excellent, the food was exceptional and we're looking forward to going back again soon. read more

This review is long overdue. My coworkers and I have been going to Khanh's for weekday lunches for years, first at the Winchester site, and now at their new location on Hamilton. The new location is really nicely done - nice, comfy interior finishes, and even better parking. The food and service are both still great. Really tasty, fresh meals at a reasonable price, and the service is friendly and prompt. I like the BBQ chicken bun, lemongrass chicken, and mixed veggie tofu - each are yummy and filling but don't put me into a food coma when I have to go back to work. Oh I love this place. Its very cute, seems a whole lot more classy than it really is, which I think makes me love it even more. This place must have been around for a really long time because some friends remember it 10+ years ago. Everything I have tried here is pretty much amazing, from the saigon crepe, to pho, to the vermicelli salads, to the bbq plates. Finally a restaurant that costs less than what I see in Santana Row. I must say it's not too bad. I am a person who enjoys eating Viet food and had no idea I'd find a place so nice. The price of the food is just right and it was really worth it. I like the inside of this restaurant because it's really big. It's so big that during the late lunch hour it can get really quiet. They even have french style outdoor seating if you prefer to eat outside. This viet restaurant is like nothing you see in Cupertino. You get better food and larger portions than Viet restaurants there. If you go on weekdays they have specials which can do your wallet a huge favor. It's the only viet restaurant with desserts. This is where you enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a comfortable dining room unlike many of the competing casual establishments. The restaurant has the feel of a cozy diner. The food, however, is great in freshness, nuances of flavors and yes, presentation. You can count on good service here too. The dishes get bussed pretty quickly. Your water glass or tea pot stays full, and if you're looking for your server, they'll be around soon enough. I've come here multiple times with a large group or another friend. I can't seem to stay away from the chicken salad each time. If it's not my meal, it's a starter. Either way, as simple as it is with a combination of purple and green cabbage, mint, basil, carrots, onions, peanuts and chicken, I can't get enough. I dream of Khanh's chicken salad.
