Shaken beef, two words I will never forget. One of the best dishes I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Juicy tender beef filet with incredible flavors mixed with mushrooms and bell peppers. I could eat this everyday, and I just might. Wonton soup is my second favorite dish here and it is oh so good. I left here with a huge smile on my face, belly full and taste buds dancing in the streets. I met the young owner too and she is so nice and accommodating. Our family has been coming here for more than 20 years, back when it was located on Winchester and it's always a great experience. It's family owned so the service is great and they have a lot of great options that are accessible for someone who is relatively new to Vietnamese food. I have been enjoying Khanh's since it was in Town & Country, but this is my second time since their move to Hamilton Ave. The restaurant has regained its mojo, and our party ate family style. The Shaken Beef was particularly good, and we enjoyed all our entrees. The Sunday evening diners filled most tables, and the restaurant was somewhere between lively and noisy. The original owner's daughter, Mary now runs the restaurant and is an absolute delight. The food is consistently well-prepared and the service is gracious and friendly. The egg rolls and fresh rolls are a favorite, as are any of their pho choices. The Saigon Crepe (Banh Xeo) is light and crisp on the outside and savory on the inside. My friend and I both ordered Banh Mi sandwiches and they were fantastic! I had the chicken and she had the pork sandwich. I love that they have both Banh Mi sandwiches and the Pho soup which you don't always see together at a Vietnamese restaurant. The service was great and they had no complaints about us each getting separate checks. We were served quickly and did not have to wait at all. The ambiance was excellent and we could easily hear each other talk. We had a nice booth by the indoor garden area which had a cute snow village displayed. The interior of the restaurant was very clean and new looking with a spacious waiting area and a banquet room in back. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be back again. read more

My favorite dishes are the shaken beef (the beef melts in your mouth), the chicken curry (so flavorful), vermicelli bowl (best I've had), and of course the fresh rolls. Man, I love Kahns. I've been coming here with my family since the 2000's and the quality has remained the same. This is an affordable and authentic place where the portions are big and you will always be treated with good service. Their vermicelli noodles and pho are some of the best I've had. Seating is ample and you will never have to wait too long for your food. What more can you honestly ask for? There are very few options for strict vegetarians, but still options nonetheless. As for dessert, they have a large variety in a display case that you can choose from! I normally don't save enough room for dessert to consider it, but I finally managed to last time. I was not disappointed! Stop in and you won't be either. They have a parking lot available for customers and you can walk across the street to check out Santana Row when you are ready to walk off your food baby. read more

Phone order. It was ready when I got there, still nice and hot and in a convenient cardboard tray (thanks for also mindfully reusing cardboard boxes). They were not kidding about large size sweet and sour soup with catfish. I was honestly kind of shocked with how much fish I got in the meal too. The fish itself was a bit plain, I usually have mine prepared differently, but I suppose it worked bc the soup was very tasty and tangy. It was a delicious, if not a bit pungent for what I'm used, sweet and sour soup. I also think it really needed more basil. There was hardly a sprig in there. First time here, but came recommended from a relative. I'd love to come back and dine in, but couldn't this time due to ordering for someone stuck at home. read more

I have been to Khanh's restaurant many times and always loved it. Today I was joined by three friends, and they were impressed. The two owners, the older gentleman and his daughter are always polite, gracious, and helpful. The wait-staff are polite and skilled at their jobs. Another attractive feature of Khanh's restaurant is the décor. The interior is classy but not in an expensive way. It is tastefully decorated. The photographs of Vietnam are huge and attractive. The music is gentle and soft. Meals that we have eaten and praised include wonton soup and steamed fresh rolls, The Selection Rice Plates Super Combinations I and II both, and the Selection Noodle Plates' Combination Rice Noodles with chicken and shrimp. This family restaurant has been our iconic establishment for decades. Over 20 years ago we chose this restaurant for our wedding rehearsal dinner event, accommodating a party of various cultural background, some first time for Vietnamese food. Service always aim to please, serving food with no disappointment, with healthy tone underlaid amid the dishes. Those characteristics have followed consistently through even today at a newer location, overseen by their 2nd generation, respectively. I come here with my coworkers on my weekend when we teach dental assisting class locally. We always order their egg rolls and spring rolls. The serve the egg rolls with mint, lettuce and a sweet vinegar dipping sauce. It's so refreshing! It is a meal in its own. Their soups are delicious! I'm glad that I came across the recent Metro paper which listed Khanh's as one of the top three Vietnemese restaurants in the South Bay. I'm not the biggest fan of Pho, so prefer vietnemese restaurants which have a wider variety. Khan's menu has plenty of rice and noodle dishes. The restaurant is located across the street from Santana Row and has the interior of an old diner. You would think you were coming for pancakes. We had the: - Vietnemese Iced Coffee: I liked that they give you an individual drip pot for the coffee and that it's not some premixed canteen in the back. - Fresh Rolls: filled with crispy lettuce and plump shrimp and came with a fish dipping sauce and peanut sauce. - Combination Rice noodles: on their vegetarian menu. lightly fried, comes with vegetables and tofu. I thought i was good, but needed a bit more flavor. I used the peanut sauce from the fresh rolls, and my husband added a bit of spicy sauce. - Saigon Crepe/ Banh Xeo: One of my favorite dishes when we visited Saigon last year, and I was happy to find a good one in the area! It's essentially a deep fried egg crepe, with crunchy, fresh vegetables stuffed inside. Their's has shrimp and pork sauteed into the egg crepe. So good! Service was great! I was really disappointed in how the catfish clay pot turned out. It's not the traditional way I'm used to having. They didn't have beef macaroni or tomatoes fried rices so I order the regular and it tasted very bland. Only thing decent was the beef onion. Pho was tasty, and the chicken and steak were excellent, but portions are small. Noodles not as chewy as other places. Spring rolls have a crisp lettuce and ungummy paper, so it doesn't feel like you're eating a pair of underwear full of pork and shrimp. Again. Watery but yummy peanut sauce. Fair prices. Good service. Huge parking lot. Soda by the can. :( Good jasmine iced tea--- and they have fake sugar! And they were voted Best Vietnamese Food in San Jose for ten years straight. My mom and I came here for lunch and got the Specialties' grilled shrimp and bbq pork slices with vermicelli sheets for two. It's a bit pricy, but 100% worth. These are spring rolls that you put together yourself! The food was amazing and more than enough portion-wise for the two of us, but I'm disappointed by the service. They were polite, but somewhat rude and awkward at the same time. We asked to be moved to a different table because there wasn't enough table space on our two-person booth for all our food - our server even put the lettuce/mint/cilantro plate on top of the warm water for the rice paper because there was no more room - and they treated us differently after that. When they helped move our dishes, they were loud and nearly slamming the cups down. They never checked in with us until the end, when it was time to pay for the meal. But for the table behind us, they constantly checked in and pointedly ignored my mom and me. We felt really uncomfortable and laughed it off, but I'm mad that they treated my MOM this way when she's just a customer who wanted to eat comfortably. TLDR; food was great, service was not. Hopefully next time will be different. Might not come here again, was vv uncomfortable with this experience. But again, me and my big stomach thinks the food is worth. Just don't make them mad at you or give them more work than the minimum, and you should be okay. read more
