I've been to Carlo for more than 5yrs, it was pretty reasonable before pandemic. Unfortunately my last oil change ended up with a bill close to $1300, incl. an outrageous charge of materials + labor for off brand wind shield wipers, which we just replaced not long ago with OEM parts - making lots of noises during the rainy days this winter. This place is amazing. I've had my BMW for 4 years, and started having crazy screeching noises coming from the tires/brakes. The dealer told me three different times it's just the brakes getting old and nothing could be done. Took the car here and they had it figured out in a few hours. New brake pads shaved brake rotors were all it needed, but my own dealer couldn't figure it out. Great service and the car runs like new! I don't think Carlo is there bad mechanic, I'm not sure, but he is definitely a good con-artist, he will start nice and smooth with a fair price and then he'll screw you for a double dealer price. Good luck to you if you're gonna take your car to him, hopefully you have deep pockets. read more

OMG! I've just picked up my 2013 Subaru, $1,747 bill - $895 for labor! Carlo opens shop at 8am, he called me at 1:49pm to say my vehicle was ready for pick up. There are 6 hours from 8-2pm.... if you divide $895 ÷ 6 hours...that's $150 per hour! IF he worked on the vehicle a solid 6 hours, which he couldn't have, because he called me at 9:06am and told me what parts I needed. I misheard him [obviously] i heard that parts were @ $675... To overbill on hours, and at a higher rate that you have posted is disheartening to customers and dishonest. I will never trust this auto shop again. read more

Had many issues with an older vehicle over the years. after being overcharged (again), for 'extra problems that need fixing'. (found out later from 'other' (competing) mechanics wasn't the problem(?) An honest car specialist recommended this awesome, one of a kind, auto mechanic! unfortunately, by the time I took my car in, after a few months of driving out of a garage, just been 'fixed' in. Another breakdown, caused greater anguish & worry. (had just spent $2,000 & no money left to spare.) After several months, (& charges for St parking on a non-operable vehicle) I got my car towed into Ken Daniels Auto. was very dubious of Car mechanics in the area by that time. it seemed they were the worst at the 'scam'...finding a small problem small bill. (after having car in 24hrs) then after a few wks, something else goes wrong, so went back back (to same mechanic) & the 'fixing' turns into a long list of overhauling!!! If you've experienced any of these issues, try Ken Daniels. If they find a problem, they give a quote, (ask before parts etc ordered on total estimated) & Voila! Other than an estimate, for necessary time/effort spent, locating cause of problem with your car, before they work on repairs, it's worth it. & smaller price to pay in the long run. Ken Daniels is a nice neighborhood mechanical shop. I have been coming here for about 8 years. I had a GMC truck that the dealer kept fixing for large amounts of money, but they never repaired the underlying problem. I took it to Carlo (the owner) and he actually fixed the problem at a lower price. Its hard finding a mechanic who is reliable and honest, and Carlo fits the bill. I have been taking my old Mercedes to Carlo for about 5 yrs now, and he has been nothing but fantastic. I switched from Calstar Motors in Glendale (dealership) as they were so shady and tried to rip me off repeatedly. Carlo is very knowledgeable, but most of all honest - he doesn't try to sell you parts or services that you don't need. And his costs are so much more reasonable. He even helped me out last week by ordering a very small, inexpensive part (I couldn't find at Auto Zone, etc) that my husband installed easily. I called Calstar but they insisted that I couldn't just order and replace that one part - once again, so disappointed. Carlo happily ordered it and I picked it up within a few hrs. Been here twice for smog checks. Not a big deal, just in and out, pretty simple. They don't take appointments for smog checks though, which I've found to be a bit frustrating trying to plan my day ("how long will I be without my car?"). I finally found another AAA approved repair shop with an owner that I can trust, and one who promotes customer loyalty by doing those "extra" little things. Carlo is a great guy, and I am glad to say good things about his shop. Yesterday, when I had trouble starting my car, I stopped by and he gave it a quick check, found the battery was bad, and sent me back to Sears (who pro-rated and replaced it, also great service) as it was a Sears battery- all without charging me as I had recently become a customer. My only regret is that he is not too close to where I live in Glendale. I recently had a major repair done there, and I feel confident that Carlo and the gang will stand behind it 100%. read more

DO NOT GO to this repair shop. They charge a $150 "diagnostic fee" that is not waived and or included in the total repair costs (in the event they repair your car). This is outrageous and highway robbery as most "professional repair shops" will include (or waive) such fee should they proceed to repair the vehicle. Unfortunately AAA referred this shop and I filed a complaint with AAA who also stated this separate fee should ultimately be included in the overall repair costs and they will no longer refer this shop. I first visited Ken Daniels Auto about 3 years ago, and have been a customer ever since. Carlo is the mechanic in charge, and he is one of the most honest and trustworthy men I have ever met. I drive an older Suburban and every time I drive into the shop, I keep my fingers crossed that Carlo doesn't find a major problem that will be expensive to fix. That being said, I trust Carlo to be completely honest about what is critical to my safety and the car's longevity, as opposed to what repair is minor and can wait. As opposed to many mechanics who want to charge several hours of labor to replace a minor part, Carlo always tries to find a work around, or will ask how many miles I will be driving before the next appointment in order to decide if an expensive repair can be postponed. In addition, Carlo is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet, and is never too busy to have a conversation. I and my family have been taking our cars here for years for everything from minor smog related repairs to engine replacements. Carlo is always very pleasant, totally honest, and reasonably priced. He's has even tipped us off to items that a dealer would be required to fix for free, even though he could easily do the work and, of course, have to charge us for. Shows he looks out for his customer. Once we needed some travel trailer axle work done, which he could not do because the trailer would not fit into his bay, but he still helped us out in any way he could. Had my car towed here by AAA for a busted radiator hose. They replaced it, and three other hoses. Supposedly they checked everything else to make sure it was alright. So why is it that one month later to the day I am getting my car towed again, for another hose? I asked around about the repair price, and was told I was being ripped off. RIP OFF KINGS. Took in two cars and spent around a $1000. One ran good for a couple weeks then eveything we had fixed started having problems again. Took it to another mechanic who quoted us less to fix what we thought had been taken care of and he told us Carlo changed a mechanism without replacing the pump witch is illegal. The second car lasted a month then everything came back as well. Don't trust these people with your vehicle if your doing anything more than an oil change. We trusted Carlo and had to go to another mechanic for all the same issuse he supposedly fixed. read more

Truly nice people! I had a flat tire on a Saturday morning. There were no less than 3 tire places within a 2-block radius - all closed!! This shop too is normally closed on Saturdays but they happened to be in open this particular Saturday morning. Put the bolt on the suspension of our 98 jeep Cherokee backwards, causing it to bust the transmission line while we were off-roading, leading us to having to call AAA and get towed.
