I went in to get that plastic undercarriage fixed. The plastic was have way hanging from underneath my vehicle. It happened during the torrential downpour we had early morning on New Year's Eve. So I was taken care of by Eric. I also got an oil change and tires rotated. They took care of me right away, at an affordable price. I watched them examine my brakes and under my vehicle. This place is seriously amazing and my entire family brings their cars here. One of the things I really hate these days is the lack of honest people in our community. I can't stand the feeling of being taken advantage of because I didnt know any better. These are two things I've never felt when dealing with the team here. They're so knowledgable and honest that sometimes I wonder how they make money, the prices I've paid for the work performed is crazy. OK literally the best car service place in existence. I'm all about supporting local businesses but this one deserves 10 stars and all good things in life. I have gotten all my tires replaced here on multiple occasions (i have the best luck with nails on the road) and the owner always goes above and beyond to help me. One time, the shop didn't have the brand of tires my car usually uses(?) so they had to order them which could've taken up to a few days. I'm not fussy so I said I would come back when the tires arrived. But wait there's more. Not only did he give me a discount for the inconvenience, HE GAVE ME SPARE TIRES TO USE FOR MY CAR UNTIL THE TIRES CAME. I ended up just replacing all of my tires because three of the four had nails in them. And guess what: today I had another nail in my tire, and for the first time ever it wasn't on the side so I was able to get a plug and the guy who serviced my car is a young korean man who is so hardworking and also deserves all good things in life. I am a regular here and I personally really like the owner, he doesn't rip you off but is very reasonable. These days there are many mechanics that tries to rip you off (one time one Mexican mechanic in Van Nuys tried to ask for $90 just for oil change which I got here in Kim's auto for $50) and one time I found out I had to change just a little bulb in my front left light, and he just charged nothing for it, and he never charged for anything when he was just checking up my car (some mechanics will charge you for that) even when he was checking my prius battery and my regular 12v battery (some mechanics will charge you for that). Just the fact that he is reasonable and doesn't rip you off is enough reason (in these days) to choose this place. read more

If it's something easy enough for you to replace he'll tell you straight up and ask if you even want him to do it. I have a 2006 Lexus IS 250 that would not start after it was hit on the passenger rear side. Mr. Kim diagnosed and got my car started (with the help of Lexus dealership), but it took him 3 weeks and the total bill came out to $733.03 of which $525 (or 74% of the cost was labor charge). Also, he couldn't figure out why my car audio was not working even though he replaced the car amplifier so I ended up having to go to another place to get my car audio repaired. Taking my car to this place to get it diagnosed and repaired for car starting problem was a mistake I will never make again and I hope this review dissuades anyone else who might consider Kim's Auto Tech and Mr. Kim to diagnose and repair your vehicle. I could tell Mr. Kim was struggling to diagnose why my car would not start because: - he never called me to keep me updated on the progress of the repair. I was the one who had to call him every few days to ask for the progress. - after 1 week, he tried to suggest I take it to another mechanic if I need to get my car repaired quicker. - after he fixed my car, he told me he went to the Lexus dealership to figure out why my car wouldn't start. - after he fixed my car, he told me he would have given up if he couldn't fix my car after the 3rd week. There are some serious problems I had with Mr. Kim: 1. When I came to pickup my car from repair, Mr. Kim almost charged me for a new car battery when I just replaced my car battery because he did not listen to me when I told him he needed to disconnect my car battery so the battery would not drain. I ended up waiting another 5-6 hours for him to charge the drained batteries because of this. He would say "okay" "don't worry" "no problem", when I tried to explain, but he didn't really listen to what I said. 2. Mr. Kim made me spend another $280 on a replacement car amplifier that wasn't needed for the repair because he thought that could be the reason why my car wouldn't start. Also, after he replaced the car amplifier, there was no sound coming from the radio. He couldn't figure out that the fuse for the car amplifier needed to be replaced so I ended up taking my car to a different place and spending an extra $180 to replace the fuse. 3. Mr. Kim scratched the dashboard volume button This place is good for simple installation replacement jobs (oil changes, battery replacement, etc.), but horrible from my personal experience when it comes to car diagnosis. For example, Mr. Kim had to go to Lexus dealership to figure out why my car wouldn't start. He couldn't figure out himself that the main fuse box needed to be replaced. Also, Mr. Kim incorrectly guessed there might be an issue with electrical wiring or the amplifier itself, when the fuse just needed to be replaced. I feel that my car took longer to fix and cost more to fix because Mr. Kim lacked the skills to diagnose my vehicle. --- On a final note: I feel Mr. Kim responds to everything with "no problem" or "don't worry". (I speak to him in Korean, but translated to English) Me: "I have a 2006 Lexus IS 250 that won't start. Do you have experience repairing Lexus vehicles?" Mr. Kim: "Yeah, don't worry" Me: "I was told to tell you to disconnect the car battery. Otherwise, the battery will drain." Mr. Kim: "No problem" (the first time I went to him for oil change many years ago... why couldn't he just tell me how much?) Me: "I need an oil change. How much?" Mr. Kim: "Don't worry" Personally, I find that really annoying about him and is the main the reason my family and I no longer go here even for an oil change. Mr. Kim, please don't tell me not to worry. I worry when I bring my car to you. I get very anxious. You don't call to update me on the status of the vehicle so I have no idea what is going on with my car. read more

I took my 2019 Lexus to the Glendale Lexus dealership for the 3 year/30k mile maintenance. They told me they found a rodent's nest, droppings and a chewed wire in the engine harness under the hood which caused my Tire Pressure Management light to stay on, but no Engine lights were on. The Lexus dealership took pictures of the wire, nest and droppings and wanted $2,000 to fix it. (Meanwhile they ripped me for an oil change and air filter change - all while leaving the rat droppings in the engine which could have been sucked into the cabin by AC - for $750. Never going to go to a Lexus dealership again). I then called 5 independent auto repair shops. One guy said it would cost $6,000 to fix the wire issue. One guy refused to give a quote. So I visited 3 shops that were within 1 mile of each other. First guy found the droppings and nest but couldn't find the wire. Said minimum 3-4 hours to open up the engine starting at $175, $250 to clean it, and depending on how many wires were gnawed, several hundreds more for the wire repair. Second guy also couldn't find the gnawed wire but was very nice and straightforward - he said since no check engine light was on, just go to a self car wash and use the engine soap sprayer and low pressure wash to clean out the nest and rat droppings. I asked won't that damage the engine? He said nope it is all sealed up, no danger to the engine. He said if any other wire was gnawed off the various engine lights would turn on "like a Christmas tree." He said after washing the engine that if any any check engine light came on or any driving issue arose, come back to him. I thanked him for not giving me any overinflated BS price quote but I wondered whether his advice was valid. I then went to the final shop, Kim's Auto Tech, which was operated by a no-nonsense Korean gentleman. He looked at the wire photo and within 10 seconds found the gnawed wire deep in the engine. He too told me to go to self car wash to shampoo and wash the engine to get the droppings and nest out and that it was totally safe for the engine to do so. He told me he would fix the gnawed wire for $100-$125. He also said since no check engine light came on, there is no need to disassemble the engine to look for any other gnawed wires as other service lights would have come on if in fact there were any. After I washed the engine out as instructed, they went further in the engine and also took off the front side panel to follow the gnawed wire leading to the TPM error light. They found more extensive damage than initially could be seen just by the photo from the Lexus dealership. So the repairs needed were more extensive with an additional 2 hours of labor. Kim's Auto Tech's total price: $200. With the repairs completed, my car's TPM light has not come back on and has stayed off for over a month. No issues with my car whatsoever after the expert, excellent, and very reasonable cost repair by Kim's Auto Tech. Moral of the story: F*** Lexus dealership, go to Kim's Auto Tech read more

Got my both rear wheels brake pads replaced under an hour....talk about speed and efficiency lol. I honestly dropped off my car thinking that I was going to get my car back the next day. I did not expect a call from them 45 min after I dropped off my car. It was too good to be true to a point where I was a bit suspicious. But sure enough he showed me the worn out pads and showed me the new replaced pads. He charged me $130 total for the job which I was blown away by. I mean at that price, I'm sure they didn't use the best quality brake pads but I'm all about functionality so as long as it works I'm totally cool with that. The guy (I think he is the owner) with the ear piece may come off as kind of rude or inattentive but I think that's just his personality so I wouldn't take it personally. He was kind of fun to talk to after a while actually lol. The other technician guy, I think his name was Jay, he was super nice and informative. We were in a bind and needed both of our front headlights changed. We called the dealership, and it's true what they say, they price gouge! We literally needed only two bulbs and installation. Hyundai quoted us $79 per headlight. What a rip off. I reached out to Kim's auto tech who's around the corner from my house, he didn't have the exact part, but said he can get it in 30 minutes, and Viola! He installed two headlights at $20 a piece. I had called Eric at Kim's Auto Tech to have a door lock actuator repaired on my car. He quoted me a price, and we agreed on a date and time for the repair. I texted him to confirm, no response. I should have paid attention to that. I texted him again right before the appointment, again no response. I arrived at the shop. He was surprised to see me, as he had completely forgotten about the appointment, and had neglected to order the part. So, he called the dealer to order the part, discovered it was more than he had quoted me over the phone, and refused to honor the original estimate. He said '"I made a mistake. I looked up the part on Google and it said the lower price" as he is showing me his phone. BTW, the price "mistake" was several hundred dollars. Don't waste your time or money on this place. What an irresponsible business person. I'm having my car fixed at Nash's auto in Glendale today, which is where I should have gone in the first place. read more

It was the night before Thanksgiving and he was about to close, but he worked with me to get everything back up and running.
